Michelle-Glad you’re doing some normal stuff, like bonilwg, and especially with Dan and others. I’m glad your grief hasn’t separated the two of you as so often happens. I hope you feel some reprieve for your grief, at least for a little while. I have a most precious son and a very real reason to ache for him.Rachel

Still bowling there and same attitude @ the desk which leaves a bad taste for all, foods good, bar is ok, they’re still missing something…. teamwork!!!

Comment Date: 2/19/2013 Name: dj
They do free ball cleaning just say the ball machine isn’t working and they clean it free, we’ve all done it for years.

Comment Date: 1/29/2013 Name: mr.300
team work does not exist in that place….

Comment Date: 1/27/2013 Name: tony
Did you know bowlercity does free ball resurfacing just bring your ball to the desk and say its been damaged.

Simply put darlene and mary are mean to their employees they treat them like slaves in a cotton field no respect, no motivation, just barking orders, they are killing the goose that lays the golden eggs(bowlercity).

Comment Date: 12/6/2012 Name: lou w.
I feel sorry for that place they’re losing a lot of customers because of mary’s screw ups no one understands her, she foams @ the mouth (very discusting) when she talks and let’s it dry even worse she doesn’t. Wipe it away she’s rude nasty, I bet the coworkers hate working with her…

Comment Date: 12/6/2012 Name: jay
There is absolutely no team work at the front desk they are unorganised 5yrs bowling there and all I see I pandemonium between desk and employees, darlene and especially mary are killing that place slowly but surely..

I think what I meant to say, is yes, that bartender has nothing but troubles. And he’s just not worth it. Sorry ladies, I only speak the truth.

This is my regular spot. The staff is pretty kind considering what they have to go through leagues, and parties and they make room for the special need kids to have fun for a change. They are finally putting all of the kids parties in one section and leagues, and regular bowlers in another. The best time to practice is the 2 hour bowling sessions in the mornings Monday to Friday for only $18.00, up to 6 people can bowl(shoes are extra). The food is decent and the lanes are challenging. Sure there’s a lot of stuff going on, they are always busy, but lanes are available. A lot of the regulars are very helpful with pointers, and bowlers etiquette. They also have the best pro shop in Bergen County. Remember, the staff is not there to kiss any ones BUM. If you go to the counter with that in mind like I’ve seen so many times, you are going to get your feelings hurt…I am ***Striker***

was there this past weekend, and although bowling is good the staff is rude and horrible. Ill give the place credit it is very b usy and ALOT of kids running around. If you are a serious bowler and you like some quiet while you bowl and practice then do not come here. It seems they are kept open by birthday parties and they sure do show it!! on the other end of the spectrum their Pro SHop Is great!!! One of the best hole punchers in NJ!

Fire closes Hackensack bowling alley
Monday, December 3, 2007
HACKENSACK No one was injured early Monday when a fire in an entrance overhang caused smoke and water damage inside a bowling alley on Midtown Bridge Approach, authorities said.
The fire, at Bowler City, was reported at 1:09 a.m., said Hackensack Fire Chief Joel Thornton. There were only a handful of people at the alley, which is open until 2 a.m. on Monday mornings, Thornton said. The patrons and employees were evacuated, he said.
Firefighters had the fire under control by 1:45 a.m., Thornton said.
We were very fortunate to keep it to that overhang, Thornton said. We did not have any fire penetrating into the building proper, but we did have smoke and water damage. Firefighters did a good job of confining [the fire] to that area and stopping it before it did penetrate into the alley itself.
Bowler City employees could not be reached Monday. The alley is expected to be closed for some time while repairs are made, Thornton said.

This place has roaches the size of rats!! Don’t eat the food and get ready for dry lane conditions. The staff is mean and makes you want to go home. The ball returns will chew up your ball. BOWL AT OWN RISK!

great place to hide out with your mistress *l*

Four words: “Please Clean and Neutralize”. I feel if you’re going to charge an arm and a leg for a game it should be worth it. Bowler City, please sign a contract with Merri Maids. Remember, good customer service makes great profit!!!!

I love bowler city. I use to bowl at my towns rec but it closed. I think Bowler Ciy may not be the cleanest but ya its a place to go hang out. I go every week and I like it

Comment Date: 3/9/2007 Name: Vex
Ill be honest with you. The lanes are for better bowlers. If you are looking for high scores yea it is very possible here, but if you are looking for the extreme high…go to t-bowl or holiday. Otherwise dont complain. If you think the lanes are too hard, then your doing something wrong. Plain and simple. Food is ok. Price is high but make great deals for people who are in leagues, and fridays are really cheap. 1.75 per game.

Comment Date: 2/20/2007 Name: Anonymous
they are by far my favorite lanes.. yea a little pricey but they are extremely nice and the lanes are amazing

Comment Date: 2/1/2007 Name: Anonymous
Bowler City has the best lanes around. I have all of my games there, and I have a tournament there on Saturday. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.

I have bowled in many places and this is the worst I have ever been in! The place is very old and needs a renovation. It smells like a mixture of burnt food and cigarrette smoke. The staff are rude and uncaring. The lanes are not slippery enough- my ball almost got stuck. The only good thing is the new machines. Overall, AVOID!!!

Comment Date: 1/18/2007 Name: bob
i went with a few friends to bowler city. The experience was horrible. We were seven people that played two games- comes out to 49$ The lady charged us $57! We argued with her, and she showed us the reciept. However, she showed us the total cost, and covered up the individual costs!! The place smells like smoke, and the balls have sticky liquid (like soda) all over them. I am never going again!!!

I bowled here for the first time in almost ten years over the weekend and I simply have one word to describe it, AMAZING! The lanes were phenominal and I loved the scoring machines that tell you your ball speed.
The only gripe I have is that the back steps are a little too close to the back end of the approach. Being that I stand all the way at the back, my heels kept hitting the steps. Other than that, my experience there was fantastic.
I definitely plan to go back on a regular basis!

way to expensive for a bowling center… however, the place is nice, clean and organized.

Comment Date: 5/11/2006 Name: Vex
Well lets see, Bowler City is possibly the most crowded bowling center in New Jersey. It has many opportunities for people to bowl for all ages. There are many leagues which are just pure fun. I been going there since i was little, and I’ve grown to love that alley. The prices are ehh, but the discounts i get are great 1.25 a game wooo lol. The Pro Shop, is a good place to go, and get quick adjustmens, and the food is good. lol. All in all, its a great place to go and have fun, with your friends and family.

Bowler City, to me is more than just a bowling alley. Its more like my HOUSE !!!! The place is always sparkling clean compared to other bowling centers I have visited. From the FRONT desk to the BAR and to the SNACK BAR, in here you’ll find JERSEY’s Finest PEOPLE with outstanding services.
(but look out for BRIAN in the BAR, He charges double sometimes more……hahahaha…nah I’m just playing…)

I’ve been bowling at Bowler City since I was 8 and been in leagues since I was 8, and I must say, from then til now they have improved greatly. The Pro Shop really knows what they’re doing. Tom, is a great person to work with. I get all my equiptment from him, and he is a terrific bowler. The Lanes are easy lanes. They give you area, and will carry occasionally. It is crowded at some times, but that’s because of leagues. Food, I don’t eat there I just get the occasional drink. They’re a little slow with helping you, but other than that, good. Bowler City is my home away from home. GO BC

Sounds like you had a bad experience Wang. The help there is questionable, but they have a great Meatball Sandwich.

Great Fun !!!!!! Kirk & I love Bowler City.

Always too crowded. Need to have more knowledge in pro shop & front desk. Prices too high. Long wait time to bowl. Caters to the league bowlers only. Too loud with music already!!! I’m not deaf. Snackbar runs special but when I show up they say “You go now! We’re closed.” Better to bowl in quieter place.

Bowler City rocks. I went there a couple of times with my friends. The food is great, the service is amazing, and the lanes are well maintained! You’ll have an amazing time!!!

Bowler City is AWESOME! It just got renovated, and everything’s cool. The arcade’s great, the lanes are even better. I bowl there at nights most of the time, with my friends. The food’s awesome too. Go there, and expect a lot of fun.

I just got back from Bowler City. I bowled 3 games with 1 person at $1.50 per game and was charged $14.50. When I called the staff and said that I was overcharged, Nicole at Bowler City said that there was nothing she could do. I think it’s horrible to be overcharged $5.50 and not even be offered an apology or a free game. Very bad customer service.

Renting out the lane is the best deal between 2pm – 4pm friends… especially if you all have your own ball and shoes. By the time you start at night, the lanes are pretty dry so it kinda s*cks… and during the daytime, prices are so high.. so yeah – bowl as you please.

Comment Date: 8/1/2004 Name: Mike Mergner
Great lanes, let me tell you – the lanes are excellent here. I bowled here for high school tournaments. The lanes are well maintained and the ball can move. They aren’t dry and aren’t wet, just right.

I think that Bowler City was fun, you have a restauraunt there if you want to eat. The best thing is at night the lights go out and the place just has these neon light which makes it look really cool.
