Laurel Lanes 4.25 a game after 6 p.m. 3 for shoes. I feel bad chargeing that much for a game. How wuld i feel at 7 a game? And we oil at least once a day excluding saturdays sooo….. Whats the issue here?

Went here the other night, I’m used to playing on wet lanes so imagine my surprise when my ball hooked into the gutter halfway to the pins no matter how far over I put it. Figured whatever I just won’t bowl here, but then when I went to pay the lady at the front asked why I only bowled one game. I explained to her the situation but she insisted that their lanes were not dry, and wouldn’t give up on it. And if your gonna say it has to do with the price, the place I habitually bowled before moving had games ranging from $1 to $3.50 depending on the time, and their lanes were always flawless.

We bowled with a group of toddlers and had a wonderful experience. The staff was terrific and very supportive of our little one’s. We are glad it is in our neighborhood and will be back. We are looking forward to miniature golf too!

We went there the other day and found out they have specials too. For $9.95 per person we got to bowl a game shoes included, got a round of mini golf and a soft serve ice cream cone. Not a bad deal.

Everyone on here is complaining about cost per game.
We used to also, until we found out Superbowl lanes in Plantsville has $.99 games from Sunday until Friday @6pm

for all you people that were used to puia running the joint,,let me tell, time to grow up..if they liked owning the center, they wouldnt have sold it.especially the clown that says stop running the foleys place into the ground..look @ the other posts on this site…youd swear they thought it was the end of the world…

Comment Date: 3/20/2009 Name: chris jones
foleys, smoleys…who cares..get a life.1ts you people complain who own/run the place what do you expect..

Comment Date: 3/18/2009 Name: Anonymous
Hey Chris….Instead of telling all of us to go out and buy / build our own bowling alley, why don’t you do the same and stop running the Foley’s establishment into the ground!!!

Comment Date: 3/15/2009 Name: chris jones..
you jokers should be grateful, amf didnt buy the center..amf does have 24 lane houses around the country,,in good areas & bad..remeber,if you can a bowling center yourself,,get a loan from the bank, get yourselves some land,& build/run it yourselves.charge whatever you want & we’ll see how long you’ll stay in business….

Apparently Chris was fired for all his bright ideas or what we are all saying is correct and he is afraid to admit it!!!

Comment Date: 2/11/2009 Name: Comment on what Bowling fan said
You are correct in saying it was better when ambrose puia owned it. I grew up there as a kid and spent many a night there bowling until 2 am for FREE! Amy was a great guy and would have given the shirt off his back to you.

Increase the cost of bowling = decrease in the number of bowlers..decrease the cost of bowling = increase in the number of bowlers (and the chance that they will tell someone about the great deal they received at the local bowling alley). In addition, with the economy in shambles and people hording their discretionary income for more important things, the alley needs to do something to attract more people….not raise the prices!

Chris you are probably right in that the lanes on Long Island charged $7 per game, however, seven dollars there is not seven dollars here. The average person in Long Island makes significantly more money then people around here do…you need to cater to the surrounding population. There are many more white collar people in Long Island and a lot more hard working blue collar people here in northern CT.

You gotta love the soccer mom comments…do they ever have anything bad to say? Don’t let their comments fool you. Those birthday parties are suppose to be extra income, not paying the bills. Getting / catering leagues to fill the house night in and night out pays the bills!

I haven’t bowled at simsbury for over 10 years and I thought about going back, but after seeing chris’ lack of respect on this website and for my relatives, I can only imagine the customer service that I would receive when I went there. I will continue to bowl at Bradley!

Simsbury Lanes was a much better place when Amy owned it…atleast he treated you like a human being instead of a walking ATM.

for eds brother, just to let you know,i wouldnt waste the time of day & waste my money bowling a fool, that thinks he knows this & that.i know someone named rich majors.when vernon lanes & bradley bowl were sold to bne,he got a job,,where??? sports plus bowl.oh,by the way, when i seen him over the weekend,he showed me his pay stub, from, unless you know and seen the facts, keep bowling @ that dump center…& bud out

well first i would like to call you out on the bowling center in new york, looked it up no such place unless they are that out dated and they dont have a website, so you never worked at a bowling alley before just to let you know. if you dont like what i say too bad just live with it that i called you out on it and if you want we can always bowl for money if you cant get over it.

I visited this place recentlyfor the first time in many years… IT is junk.. I can see why it hasn’t taken off.. Prices are high , for kids?
I guess the Foly’s are not making the $$ in health centers and or golf, so they are trying this,, unreal. Life is supposed to have some fun, bowling was one,, however, not here in Simsbury… Guess it is time to move out…

Yes,Ed Long Island name of center is Sports Plus Bowling Center, yes its still open,as we speak. Its not the best house, but it still has business, for a 48 lane house.

$7 per game. You better have lane girls in bikinis delivering free beer for that price. Chris, Oiling the lanes once a day is reasonable. I don’t think Simsbury oiled them all week. As for your comment on them oiling the lanes just for me, as a customer I expect to get something for my money. I’m guessing you no longer work in the customer service business. If I felt bowling was a business to invest in, I would build a center myself. But as a customer of an establishment, whether it’s golf, bowling or just going out to eat, you expect to get some kind of satisfaction out of the product or service being purchased. If you did indeed work at a customer service oriented business, you could probably take some lessons on how to keep people coming back. What center did you work at that charged $7, is it still open?

Comment Date: 3/24/2008 Name: chris jones
hey ed,what do you expect??the center to oil a pair just for you???you’re crazy.$5 a game,is us a favor, get some people together, get a loan from the bank, and buy or build your own can do what you want to it.have i worked in a bowling center???YES.where i was,we charged almost $7 a game.we stripped and oiled them first thing in the am & they werent touched unless there was a tournament.thats how we did it.

Wow, brought my family here for a couple of games, 10 games total, $50 plus 4 pairs of shoes, $12. Tried to use my own ball, no oil, my ball would of hooked less in the parking lot. Pulled out a plastic, conventional grip, house ball and could swing it 20 boards to the gutter and have it hook across the head pin. Every lane was full and snack bar was closed. I remember why I stopped bowling there 10 years ago. I guess when they started catering to the kids and birthday parties it went down hill. $5.00 a game for what was going on in this house was absurd, owners should be embarrassed.

the staff is wonderful, and although the lanes are a bit old and scruffy, they work them out to make it a great family time

This is a great bowling alley!! Fun for the whole family. The computer screen takes your scores down for you and you just have a wonderful time!

bowling center is coming along ok, but it is really time for new lanes!!! They have very old wood lanes that destroy good bowling equipment.

Pro shop here is terrible, might as well get a ball drilled from Dick’s sporting goods, least their measurement will be a lot closer than this guy’s is.
