Hidden gem. Went one weekend because it seemed like “close bowling alleys” season was upon us. Its not new, but its “Cozy”. My sons enjoyed the lanes, as well as, the food. Staff at the front desk were cool and the staff at the food area were even better. This is a really good place and they’re not expensive at all.

I have been bowling at Cozy bowl since before it was called Cozy Bowl. My son also bowled since he was 10,he is now 27. Cozy is great, the people are nice. Yes, there are some problems and when you are bowling and the ball gets stuck and service is slow it can be a pain. But for the most part it is a great place. I hope all the people from Woodhaven Lanes and Van Wyck realize this and give Cozy bowl a shot and join a league. They also have a great bar and some nice parties.

I went there for a party. The bowling part is really fun there and the food tastes great. It’s very enjoyable. It was very fun.

I think Cozy Bowl has a great family warmth. My son enjoys it there and wants to celebrate his b-day soon there. Things can always be better but for right now it is the closest and only thing around. Bless all the hard workers that always seem to help us. See ya soon and lets all bowl…………………………….

Cozy Bowl is definitly the place to be when you’re in the mood for bowling and fun! The staff is all friendly and ready to help with any problem you need! We also have the best birthday parties for kids ages 4-18! Me and my coworkers do our best to make your child’s special day fun and enjoyable! They get to bowl in the dark with black lights on and great music playing! Cozy Bowl is the best place to be whether its your birthday or just any old day you feel like hanging out and bowling with us. I’ve been bowling at Cozy Bowl for 10 years and now I’m working there! This place is the best and I couldn’t ever think of a better job or place to be!

On my way to Cozy for my Tuesday night league. We were unceremoniously dumped by Van Wyck, Woodhaven closed. We got shafted at jib, maybe we should have hooked up with Cozy from the jump.Looking forward to years of fun (and money!).

This alley needs alot of work. The lane approaches are in bad condition. Even the new lane furniture that was installed just six years ago is now in shambles. I feel that the owners are very apathetic to the condition of the facilities & to customer service as well. It’s almost as if they want to milk every dollar out of the place & invest nothing as far as improvements. One would think with all of the additional business they are getting as a result of the closings of Van Wyck & Woodhaven that they would be interested in renovating the place.

Woodhaven Lanes was a second home to all who bowled there. You were able to trust and depend on the people who worked there. It was like family. It really stinks that the kids have no other option, but to go to Cozy on a Saturday morning. Hopefully these kids will have a great winter league and will become a family again. Can’t wait to see you all at Cozy….ENJOY AND GET PLENTY OF STRIKES!!!!

I think the place is great. Maybe it’s the time you guys go, but I don’t see the place as being dirty. Although, yea, the outside doesn’t make it look the like the best place- but, hey, what can you do if it’s old =P. I’m in the Jr. Scratch League, and out of over 50 games played already in 13 weeks- I only needed to ask for a ball return twice. It’s not a bad place at all. It’s a great place to go, relax and have fun. (and yea, the food is great) I used to go to Woodhaven Lanes–But it closed down =(, and I have to say that Cozy however is much better. It’s true what Steve said, don’t expect everything to be perfect– Unless you’re willing to pay big bucks.
Anyway- I haven’t had any major Problems at all- The lanes are great, nothing to worry about

The place seems run down & even dirty. The girl behind the control desk has a snotty attitude about herself. In the 70’s & early 80’s, this place was the cream of the crop. Can’t really say that anymore. It’s a shame that there is so little choice as far as alleys for the people of Queens that one has to resort to Whitestone, Jib, or this joint.

Gentle reminder to everyone: AMF were the ones who allowed the premises here to deteriorate, not Mike Macchio. He’s the one who was left to clean up after them. It’s expensive. It’s a bowling alley, not a five star hotel. If you want a fancy alley, go to one of those yuppie AMF 300 houses, but bring a credit card & consider taking a second mortgage on your home for what they charge for bowling, shoes, food, & drink.

Hey guys thanks for your support! As those of you have been in lately you can see that the improvement s are definitely in the works. Both lower level bathrooms have been renovated and look great. We are currently in the process of ramping up the machines so you wont have so many ball returns Sha. Steven your are right AMF ran the building into the ground and than bailed and the level of renovations are extensive and expensive, but they are getting done. We are working hard and I hope you all see the improvements! Thanks again for standing behind us! We need to keep bowling in Queens!!

Cozy bowl needs to be improved. Nothing can be more upsetting to have your bowling ball stuck everytime you get a strike. Especially considering they have a summer league going on there.

Comment Date: 6/18/2008 Name: LONNIE
Steven, You are correct about Merrill Wreden, he is another two-faced AMF corporate jerk. AMF does not care about the bowlers(league bowlers especially). Bellerose was a very nice place, I bowled there a few times. AMF sold it to a developer, as they did Van Wyck. Bellerose was warned in advance, however. Van Wyck was not,it was a rush job. League bowlers treated like DIRT. AMF will close any alley for the right price. AMF does not always mean FUN.

Comment Date: 5/30/2008 Name: Steven Meditz
Lonnie: If you remember correctly, this was an AMF house a few years ago. They closed this one in a similar fashion as they did with Van Wyck, three weeks before the end of the league season, without a warning to anyone. The same AMF spokesperson, Merrell Wreden, told people that they had no choice but to close it because the house was in very bad condition & it would have costed way too much money to bring it back to optimum. He also said that AMF would not be closing any other centers in the New York Area. Bellerose, another AMF center, closed shortly after. That was a nice center that had nothing wrong with it. Now, Van Wyck is gone. Before AMF had Americana (Cozy), it was privately owned, & before that it was a Brunswick center. I can’t believe in the 20 years I am bowling how many centers have closed over the years.

To all of the complainers out there: I see alot of negativity written here all the time, & I have a message for all of you. Get over it!! With the closings of Van Wyck & Woodhaven, we all should be glad that there are still places left to bowl. If you all remember, this place closed in 2002, but thanks to Mike Macchio, it was repoened. Sure, the place needs work, but I do feel that Mike has done alot to this place in the short time he’s had it. The center was run into the ground by AMF, & improvements were made when Mike took it over. Keep in mind what the costs are to renovate these centers these days. When these places opened in the 50’s & 60’s, they costed very little to open. As time goes on, I’m sure that more improvements will be made to Cozy Lanes especially now since there will be more buisness from Van Wyck & Woodhaven. In the mean time, stop complaining about how bad the place is & be glad that there is still actually a place to bowl.

I will be coming to Cozy after the close of Woodhaven Lanes. My heart is not in it, as Woodhaven was my second home. I will keep on bowling, but it won’t be the same. I went to Cozy and felt I was intruding. I got weird stares and didn’t feel welcome. I hope the people there will be sympathetic to all of us who had to leave Woodhaven Lanes. RIP Woodhaven Lanes, we will all miss you.

Cozy Bowl tries very hard to please all of its customers. Unfortunately, it is difficult to keep such a large building spotless when so many people have so little respect for property that is not theirs. Any complaints are always welcome because without them we could not improve. In the coming months you will see many changes and improvements throughout the center as we attempt to accomodate all the new bowlers from Woodhaven and Van Wyck. Hope to see you all on the lanes, Kepp striking!

I agree with Lonnie, but it is not just AMf or Brunswick we can’t trust. It is all BIG corporations who don’t care about their customers or from what I have seen, their workers.

Comment Date: 5/8/2008 Name: LONNIE
Now that AMF has stabbed it’s Van Wyck Bowlers IN THE BACK and Woodhaven is closing also, I hope the bowlers in Cozy and the people who come from Van Wyck and Woodhaven fight hard and support this alley. Keep it open guys and gals. We need more affordable non AMF alleys in Queens and the 5 boros. Don’t trust AMf.

The lanes s*ck and the place should be fixed in everyway. The food counter girl is a real “b” with a real attitude that s*cks!

I grew up bowling here as a teenager. I’ll always have great memories of this place. woodhaven lanes is closing on may 18th forever and most of my leagues are moving over here. one of the owners Mike Macchio is an old friend of mine that was my bowling idol when I was a kid bowling here. I wish him the best of luck and hope that these extra leagues coming in will give him the the great success that he deserves. best of luck Mike!

Cozy Bowl Lanes are okay, But when I bowled for two games on a Thursday for $3.00 each, I bowled pretty fine until my bowling ball got stuck in lane 25 & the sheet was dangling at the pinsetters.

ive never bowled here but since my second home “Woodhaven Lanes” is closing i need to find a new alley, and since im only twelve with a 140 average and i have been bowling in woodhaven since i was 3. New lanes are hard to adjust to0.

Comment Date: 4/15/2008 Name: tina
I’ve been bowling there before it became cozy bowl since then I’ve been there 3 times and all 3 times the bathrooms was dirty and there was problems with the lanes. If they remodel and upgrade they will make the money right back and much more. It’s in a very convient location and people like myself will come back.

With Woodhaven closing, Cozy should get some more leagues. This should be exciting, but they should fix this place up a bit.
