Deer Park Lanes Comments

This place could be great but extreamly poor customer service brings this place down. The lane was broken the bumpers wouldn’t go down on their own you had to kick them with your feet to get them to go down and the computer kept messing up and the ball return didn’t work all the time. The service folks at the resturant dont come and offer beverages (unless you are their high school buddies). The owner is extreamly rude and off putting. When you try to help them understand customer service issues they argue and walk away. We had a fun time with the kids but were very dissipointed with the staff and owner. If you go you will have to help yourself and hope its a better day for the staff. The unfortunate thing is customer service starts at the top. I would highly recomend making the extra 20 minute drive to Lilac Lanes in Spokane Wa located at
1112 East Magnesium Road Spokane, WA 99208. I have never had a bad experience there.

the owner and his staff are rude and preoccupied sometimes which makes you feel unwanted but if you go in on a good day for them then its fun. Its hard when you live in a small town and have no other options so for a small town environment its a pretty good place just wish the staff would treat people better!

BEST PLACE AROUND FOR MILES!!! Reasonable prices, very friendly staff, great food. Very much a family atmosphere.

Comment Date: 7/9/2009 Name: Don’t Waste Your Time
The staff is rude, the food is bad and way to expensive and the equipment is always failing. They use to have a web site and now that has failed too. “We give it a thumbs down”

Comment Date: 3/26/2009 Name: JohnyBGood
Unfortunately, if I say how good the place is…it will get crowded in a hurry! The truth is that the staff is the best, the food outstanding, and the lanes are wonderful. Really wish that I could keep this place my own secret. Word will get out soon.

Our company bowls here weekly. Staff is friendly and understanding. Good food, large portions. Always looks clean whenever we show up. Equipment looks very new. We occasionally experience equipment failures, but staff is generally prompt in addressing them. Overall, a great place to bowl.

We love the new Deer Park Bowl. The lanes are clean, the balls are fast, and the food is tasty. Our family enjoys going bowling locally and we will be back!

When I went there the bowling ball broke, the second lane exploded, and the service was terrible. They actually yelled at my son because he threw up after eating there disgusting food.

This alley is amazing!! I love to go and hang out with my friends! The music is great and I love the food! This is the best place to hangout in dp…its even better than lilac lanes…

I love this place!!! The employees are so helpful. I have enjoyed bowling here and the place is very beautiful. All in all it is a great spot to hang out and have a great night!!!

Comment Date: 4/13/2008 Name: Virginia Simpson
I came bowling from Spokane, and Deer Park Bowl was better than any center in Spokane. The remodel is beautiful and I love the couches. The food is great and the service is quick and friendly. Nearly everything is brand new, even the shoes! The party package we chose was very affordable and the banquet rooms provide a quiet space to have your cake and ice cream. We will definitely be back soon!

ive never had a problem at the bowling alley.

Comment Date: 10/29/2007 Name: Heidi
I have to say I was a littled worried, when I read the other comments that were posted. When I walked into the Deer Park bowling alley, I was really impressed. I was informed that it was just remodled, and it shows (beautiful). The lanes worked great, and my daughter, who bowling this weekend, loved the couch like seating. The food was good, Ok price, I have seen better there, but it was served very quickly. All in All, I will be going back many times.

Comment Date: 5/12/2007 Name: Employee of Deer Park Bowl
Please hang tight with us, everything is still new. All the employee’s, the computer system, just about everything. We are working hard to take care of the corks and the Bowling Alley should be running smoothly soon. If there are any problems with your service or experience at Deer Park Bowl, please advise someone. Your comments and concerns will only make yours and others experience better. Thank You and have a wonderful Day!! : )

there is no question that the place needs some help . however it still is a nice place to go and spend some time. considering how small of a town we are lucky to have a bowling ally thanks for trying so hard to make us happy

Comment Date: 2/28/2006 Name: someone who goes there a lot (unfortunately)
Deer Park lanes is a joke. Seriously. Lanes always broken, rudeness in cafeteria, you have to take your own score on some lanes (yes even during league!!!) and they can’t seem to keep the place warm!!! Also, there is the no smoking law now, and you’ll notice that a lot of cars are still there when they are “closed”. There are many people in there, they are just SMOKING!!! They lock the doors so that nobody will find out. I hope this bowling alley goes out of business SOON!!

Comment Date: 3/22/2004 Name: An Elk Girlie
I went to Deer Park Lanes to bowl, not only were 5 lanes broken, but when we waited up by the front desk, nobody showed up for 5 minutes or so…Very rude, we had to take our own score, and the shoes were stinky!

Comment Date: 2/22/2004 Name: Anonymous
The help here during the day when my league bowls is great
they can’t do enought for us. The lanes are pretty good.

Rumor has it Robinhood in its current location will be around at least 1 more year, and will exist there are somewhere close by after that. As for Kenmore, I bowled city tournement there an the place was just the same old dive it was 15 years ago.

Comment Date: 3/9/2012 Name: Kegler John
A friend of mine bowls league at Robin Hood lanes. That center is probably going to close in a few months. He said that Kenmore Lanes contacted his league, and offered them $10,000 if they’d go there next season.
Shouldn’t the loyal, long-term bowlers at Kenmore be the ones being offered the added money? This just doesn’t sit right with my group.

Comment Date: 5/27/2011 Name: Bowling Mom
Went there with a large group of kids and adults (reservation arranged weeks in advance). Staff were super friendly and helpful, but faulty equipment and slow food service really overshadowed much of the experience. Made for a disappointing night of bowling, with frequent waiting for staff to retrieve lost balls, pins not resetting, or setting at random, etc. – the staff were quick to respond, but the problems were constant throughout the two hours we were there.

I havent been bowling in a while. I was really surprised at how things have changed. This facility was packed with children and children’s parties. The group that was next to us were kids that were jumping up and down, 4 or 5 out on the alley at one time, no parental supervision. Kids throwing their balls doen the gutter. Kids taking our balls right out of our carrasol. Stickey food and drink that would get all over the balls. The equipment would get stuck. There was no button to push for assistance from your station. The bowling balls were all nicked and greasy. People would come up to our carrasoul and just take what ever ball they wanted w/o even asking if we were using it. It seems people have to bowling sense, or bowling etiquette. Bowling should be a fun sport for everyone.

Kenmore Lanes does not answer their phone or at least no one answers the phone number listed here.**NOTE** We’ve double checked the phone number and it seems to be correct, but you’re right – they don’t answer. B2U Staff**

On my God, what’s wrong wit you people! Go in to Kenmore Lanes. It’s like meetin a bunch of friends. They treat you like family, and it’s the same faces that have been there for years!Marty, Ted, Wesley & Denny(general manager)have been there for years. Everybody knows everybody! The first time I went in was about 2yrs ago for Lobowskifest. That’s when I met Denny & Ted. I’ve been in 15 or 20 times since. Everytime I go in Denny or Marty talk to me about my bowling. I’m terrrrrible. Kenmore has the best breakfast around, they have a chef that’s off the chain!!!!!!
I live in Bellevue, they opened up Lucky Strike last year. But who can afford that. Don’t even talk to me about Techcity, what a rip off. I was wondering you people that don’t like Kenmore, . do you work at Techcity? If you want to go into a place were they remember your name Kenmore Lanes & Casino!!!!!! I don’t even gamble

Saturday night, wanted to bowl a couple of games, I almost didnt get out of my car, dark, very poorly lit parking lot that looked like it hadnt been maintaned in decades, with groups of young people hanging around, and a couple of guys with SECURITY on their jackets hanging out with them. I went in but decided to leave shortly after, it was smelly, (from all the spilled beers I would guess)dirty and looked run down. Later went to Techcity bowl in Kirkland, WOW what a contrast…played pool, bowled and then ate some good food in the resturant, CLEAN, FRIENDLY AND DIDNT FEEL LIKE I MIGHT GET MUGGED GOING BACK TO MY CAR! Techcity, I will come back again…Kenmore, never again!

The lanes have a lot of problems, machines break a lot, balls get stuck for long periods of time and something destroyed my ball. Bowling alleys should not be dirty and filthy. I was afraid to have my children eat there. I mean really what does the kitchen look like if they cant clean the rest of the place? I think Kenmore lost sight that they are a bowling alley first and a casino second. It is not a family friendly place. I mean really, sex toys in the bathrooms!!! That is appalling and so low class. We went there with friends and family because it was close to them but we normally go to Tech City. Kenmore needs more than just a mop and broom, they need a whole staff upgrade Tech City is clean, friendly bowl staff for the most part depending on what time of day you are there and a nice sit down restaurant. If you bowl first on your receipt there is a coupon for the restaurant. That is a nice perk. After 9pm its all you can bowl for $9 and that includes shoes. Sorry Kenmore but we wont be back.

Had a great time at the casino. The staff is really friendly in there. It’s true though, on the bowling side of things the staff is pretty unfriendly. They treat it just like some job they get paid to do nothing.

I love Kenmore Lanes. I live right by Tech City Bowl in Kirkland and I still go to Kenmore once or twice a week to bowl. I’m going to be joining a league with a few of my friends shortly. There are fifty lanes, and if you go during the day of late at night, not only do you get great prices, but you rarely have to wait for a lane. While the food service is a little pricey and a little slow, it’s actually some of the better food I’ve ever had in a bowling alley. I will admit that the equipment is a old, and the staff is full of surly teenagers, but over-all it’s still a great place (and my personal favorite place) to bowl.

Comment Date: 5/8/2008 Name: Kenmore League Bowler
I have bowled in this house for two years and there are some things about it that I really like. The bar is okay and the food is good (and not that slow). Most of the service is good.
But the conditions of the lanes change with the weather. In the past few months, the oil machines have been spotty and the lanes were so dry that my ball made a left-hand turn about 1/2 way down the alley. Then, after many complaints about the dryness, they over-oiled the lanes and all the right-handers were hitting the six pin.
The machines are often broken, the scoring machines often don’t work right, and, more than once, we had to move to new lanes during league because the equipment broke mid-game.
My Monday night league has elected to leave Kenmore and head to Majestic next year. The reason: All the disrepair.
The place is for sale and not much money is going to go into the place until they decide what to do with it.
Still, it is a fun place to be when (as is the case most of the time) things are working well. I hope it stay around.

Didn’t the State smoking ban go into effect about 3 years ago? Why does the place still smell like cigarettes?

Comment Date: 4/3/2008 Name: bob
THIS PLACE IS AWSOME!!!!!!!!!! GREAT STAFF. Hours have changed though. it’s Sunday through Thursday open 7am to 2am. Friday an d Saturday 24 hours. STAFF IS GREAT LIKE RYAN. ALL THE NEW ONES.

Comment Date: 4/3/2008 Name: Jim
This place is great. The staff is nice and helpful and the lanes are never dry. I bowl in a leage there and they always fix our dead woods and get our ball returnes before we have to call it to the front desk. Kenmore Lanes was awsome. I like to bowl there better then any other place in Washington.

Comment Date: 4/1/2008 Name: Josh
Some of the best lanes around. I mean with 50 lanes, chances are you won’t have to wait long for open bowling even with a group. Don’t come here hungry as you’ll wait forever and a day for food (even when it’s relatively slow). $4.00/game at peak times is one of the better prices around for the condition of the lanes and amount of them. Front desk service is average on a good day and seems to always have someone standing up there angry that something went wrong. Lack of balls in the 12 lb. and under range is a major problem here. Some of the house balls have major chips in them and are almost squared off. Bring your own equipment and you’ll avoid this hassle. My wife and I continue to enjoy these lanes and will keep coming back for more!

Comment Date: 3/12/2008 Name: Andrew
im going to bowl a tournament there in about 1 month and i am curious how the lanes are
if they take care of them and other important things.

Comment Date: 2/6/2008 Name: Cary
Yes it’s true!!! It is a bowling alley + casino + bar!!!! add those together and what do you get 3!!!! Kenmore is what you make of it. it’s not the worse place nor is it lucky strike!!! If you want to pay $60 an hour than feel free to do so. They definately need to teach their staff some customer service!!! I still go and almost always have a good time.

Comment Date: 2/3/2008 Name: jayson
Holy crap. This place is BAD. Went there tonight with some friends. It took 1.25 hours to get a mushroom burger. I didnt pay for it, but only because I said I wouldnt. A beer glass got broken in front of the kids candy and sticker machines. Employees were told several times, nobody cared. I finally picked up the 4″ glass shards myself before some little kid got 30 stitches. Belive it or not, we still had fun!
What a cest pool!!

Listen, you are going bowling, not going to a black tie affair. It’s a bowling alley folks! Of course it is supposed to be a little dingy. I love Kenmore Lanes, I’ve bowled there since 1992. Go have a good time, bring friends, enjoy the cheap drinks from the bar.

Comment Date: 9/16/2007 Name: A
You must work for or own Kenmore????
I’m sorry, the place is a dive…. sure they put in new scoring and ballreturns a few years back but the masking units (high end) and bumpers (low end)look like crap. Saw and heard a ball (I hope it was a houseball) hitting/banging against a drop sweep cover on the low end on its way back to the bowler, employess saw it and did nothing. Sure the shot is good but that is the ONLY thing Kenmore has going for it, outside of the Casino.
Apparently you havent been to West Seattle lately, while a bit cramped there isnt much they can do about that. They redid the setee area put in new Vector scoring with autobumpers. It actual looks very good and blows the doors off of K’more IMO.

Comment Date: 8/29/2007 Name: Alexander
Run down and falling apart?! You’ve obviously never been to Roxbury lanes or Magic Lanes in West Seattle… Go to those bowling alleys first and then call Kenmore run down… Roxbury is like a crappy blast from the past… the front desk computer is slow and older than 99.9% of their employees and their pinspotting machines are spotty and rarely work properly. While Kenmore is a refreshing retreat from the crappy lanes of West Seattle. The oil pattern is great and easy to bowl on and they’re never short on lanes. I do however agree that the staff could be a lot more friendly. That is the only thing that Roxbury and Magic have a leg up on Kenmore.

Comment Date: 7/29/2007 Name: Dave
Kenmore goes through front desk staff, like it’s a revolving door. I went to Kenmore recently, for the $1.75/game after midnight special. I got there at about 12:25AM and bowled 4 games. Once I was finished the front desk guy tried charging me full price, saying that I got there at 11:25PM. After arguing and being scolded like a child for 5 minutes, the desk clerk realized that the computer was off by and hour and then fixed the price. The guy didn’t even offer an apology or admit being rude.
My advice is to tell them the time, and get them to acknowledge it, before you start bowling. My cousin goes there at least once per week, and he says they’ve pulled the same stunt on him numerous times.

They treated me with Tons of respect. That is Why I continue to go and will continue for a long time. I live Right next to Tech City Bowl in kirkland with their OUTRAGEOUS prices. I choose to go the extra miles to get to kenmore! Hope this was helpful to anyone interested in this Alley!

This had to be the worst bowling center I have ever been to. The staff was rude and acted as if you were troubling them by asking them to do their job. While attempting to bowl I stuck to the floor, when I went to tell the staff they said I must be bowling on my heels….Please! If you have another place that you could go for your bowling experience, go there. This place is bad in every way

Great place! Excellent prices! With 50 lanes, there’s never a wait. Rental balls are average; lots of nicks. Nice staff too. We’ve never had a problem with the equipment.

Comment Date: 11/21/2006 Name: John L.
What a dump! You would think with a casino that’s in the top 10 in volume you could afford to keep the place up, NOT THE CASE, very dirty, rude employees, lanes nick your ball and they break down constantly. Doesn’t deserve to be open. City is right in closing this place down.

Comment Date: 10/9/2006 Name: Katie
You should oil lanes for the special Olympic bowling so every one can bowl good. It’s not good bowling with dry lane it’s good bowling with new lane by oiling them like all other bowling alley does.

Comment Date: 10/1/2006 Name: Paul
Equipment is flaky. Balls come back badly nicked. Pin setters have a tendancy to “throw up” pins all over the lanes.
The approaches are poorly maintained, if you have knee issues, watch yourself, as instead of sliding, you may very well stick. These observations are over a period of time, not based on one visit.

our family is now able to enjoy bowling again! We went to Kemore a few years back and were smoked out. We started again at Kenmore a couple of weeks ago, and we are loving it! No smoke (Thanks to Washington State!), a few technical glitches with the scoring (that my teen son soon figured out how to fix) made for a very enjoyable family time, we’ll be returning regularly.

DONT GO HERE these lanes destroyed my ball (about a one inch cut 1cm deep and 1cm wide) they said they’ll fix it but we’ll see how it turns out. Just PLEASE DONT GO HERE if you care anything about your equipment.

Kenmore lanes is a great place to bowl but the lanes do break alot because of Chris the mechanic. He doesn’t have a clue about what he is doing.

Comment Date: 12/10/2004 Name: Chris
Lanes have a lot of problems, machines break a lot, balls get stuck for long periods of time, but the lanes are nice and easy, most the workers there are cool but i’ve met some that are real jerks. Its a little expensive, so i prefer to bowl at glacier lanes. Also, most the scorers are hard to enter names and such into because they take some force to actually get the button to register what you want it to do.

Comment Date: 11/12/2004 Name: Chilly
Great house! Great lanes, and pretty easy shot. They really like the seniors here, as the senior rate is $1.00 per game, and $0.65 per game if you are a league bowler there! Love this house!

Kenmore Lanes. So good. I consider myself more or less a regular there and I love the place. It’s starting to feel like a home away from home. Everything there is rockin’. Go bowl at Kenmore.

Comment Date: 5/5/2004 Name: Rage
Most of the time the bowling has been $3.50 per game and $2.00 for shoes. But I heard somewhere that after midnight it was only $1.00 per game which would be killer. Does anyone have any insight on that and whether it’s true or not?

Do you have bingo at your facility? Could you give times and price per game?

Hey Potential Operator, Any Good news? YOU GOT A FUTURE CUSTOMER WITH ME! Just got my 1st ball and shoes, just need a place to bowl now. The other alleys are either too far or too expensive. I hope if you do open it up or anyone else does, that someone adds a pro shop.

Comment Date: 8/4/2011 Name: Potential Operator
I am trying to cut a deal to reopen this facility. The economy is not being helpful. At present, the hold is from the owner of the shopping center. I have made a commitment to him that apparently not thrilled with. He has just talked to too many potential owners that have said the chances of even breaking even financially are too remote. I am not judging the past operators but judging by the reviews taken as a group, I see the problems and I know the solution. I have not given up yet. today is 8/4/11. I will leave updates here if anyone cares.

Wow this place is great for bowling! We just bowled the Greater Seattle City Tournament here and the lanes were sweet. Cleanest bowling center I have seen in a long time too. The remodel is awesome and the bowl staff were friendly and gave great service. Had some boneless wings and some brews after tournament and the food was good and prices reasonable. Our Hooter girl waitress on the lanes while bowling was a cutie and service was great. Thinking about joining a league here. Our team did pretty darned good in the five man event.

Comment Date: 12/15/2009 Name: ~Anonymous~
We live on the eastside and have been to the bowling alleys around the area! however, we decided to go check out the Hooters bowling alley. The lanes were good, however, the service was absolutely terrible. A waitress came down to take our food order, and we asked for a minute to decide. She never came back again, even though, she served the people on the lanes right next to us. When we went to the bar to order some food, we could not because it had to be done through a waitress. All in all, the bowling part was very good, but hooters bowling alley really needs to step up their customer service skills if they want to even come close to bowling alleys on the eastside.

We stopped by last week to bowl Monday dollar games and the whole place is shut down. The sign said Closed until September 1st for remodel. I called the league secretary of my league to tell him it was closed until September 1st and he said it was going to reopen as Hooters Lanes and Casino. I sure hope they still have the same gal and guys working in the bowling center. We always got such good service with those people who have worked there the past couple of years. It’s going to be cool to see the whole remodel of the lanes. Looking forward to September.

I just stopped by Cascade to bowl a couple of their one dollar games on Monday and the signage outside said that Hooters was coming soon. I asked the guy at the front desk and he said Hooters will be taking over the restarant and lounge and remodel will be done and takeover by August 1st. I guess the bowl remodel will be done around July 1st. This is awesome that Hooters will be taking over the restarant and bar. I’m there!

Comment Date: 8/29/2008 Name: Jazzy Jeff
I just stopped by to sign up for a mens league and they have pictures posted of how the center is going to look when the remodel gets done. Totally awesome and cool! The guy at the bowling desk said much more than anticipated is getting done. I cant wait until they start so that I can watch the progress. I guess all of the remodel is being done from 11pm to 8am so that leagues are not interrupted. Cool! This will be fun to watch things change.

Comment Date: 6/13/2008 Name: JC
JK, falling apart is a bit of an exageration don’t you think Just because certain members of a certain league feel that they had it worse than ANY OYHER LEAGUE in the house, doesn’t mean the place is falling apart. AI understand the vote was about half and half, and lets n ot forget that bowling is a loss leader for the casino. They don’t care if the make a profit.
As a matter of fact I have received calls from several members of that league asking me to put together my own Thursday night league. I just hope I can keep the place together for them!?!?!?!?

Comment Date: 5/21/2008 Name: MB
They sure are retro at Cascade so the remodel that JK speaks of should be a nice addition to the very pleasant bowling staff and the good times. My wife and I have been going there every Wednesday evening to bowl a bit and go to the casino. We are planning on joining league there when the remodel is done. One thing that I have noticed this past year is that the riff raff has disappeared. This place has really cleaned up to where a family would be comfortable in the atmosphere. Kudos to the bowling manager and staff at the desk for making our weekly outing to bowl and go to the casino a pleasant visit.

Comment Date: 4/21/2008 Name: JK
They are going to be doing some extensive remodeling over the summer as they are putting in new lanes and ball returns. Our league from another bowling center is going to be switching over to there for fall league as the place we were bowling at was falling apart.

Wow what a difference! We had our Christmas party at Cascade Lanes this year and had it there last year to. Last year it was a bummer. No good help at the bowling main desk and no one seemed to care if we were there or getting good service or what. This Christmas it was great! They had really great courteous help on the bowl desk and lady who helped us get the party together was there the whole time to make sure that we were all having a good time and getting good service. We will definetly go back again. Oh yeah and we got a bunch of free game bowling tickets to for when we want to come back with our familys and stuff. Our food was good and we had a blast bowling and had games going on the lanes to win some free game tickets. Thanks Cascade for a great and inexpensive Christmas party and for hiring some really good help.

When free bowling? Time!! Time!!

Comment Date: 7/5/2004 Name: J. Bates
I think if Cascade Lanes is going to offer free bowling Monday through Friday and then charge FULL PRICE for holidays they should post that on their website and on their front door so customers know in advance so it’s not false advertisement. I arrived with my 2 kids to bowl on July 5th on Monday and was told that it was full price on holidays during free bowling weeks. I decided I wouldn’t pay because we weren’t told in advance via word of mouth, flyer or web site. I took our money, business elsewhere and we went to go swimming instead for the day at Wild Waves —since we bought season passes already.

I love it at Pacific Lanes. Everyone who works there is great and heart warming. It makes me feel at home. Out of every surrounding bowling center in the area, i would say it is the best. Mike Clark and new desk manager Terry are very comical gentlemen who give the spunk to Pacific Lanes. All employees are very hard working and polite and the kid who runs dead wood is quick and a hard working well raised young man. In the coming year i would love to see the new additions this bowling center will add to make it the best in the north west.

Comment Date: 3/14/2009 Name: Tacoma Bowler
There’s a jerk that works there that was yelling gang related obscenities at me and some friends. I felt threatened and unwelcome. The person walks witha gimp an acts tough to any kid that happens to walk in. True story… Recommended when this particular emloyee isn’t on the job.

Pacific is one of the best in Tacoma, if not the best center. From staff, to cleanliness, to league play and good if not great scoring conditions (thanks to Mike Clark). They got Steve Fontana over there I hear too; a great manager and bowler in Tacoma over the years
The place did improve when New Frontier closed. Pacific bought all the synthetic lanes and scoring from Brunswick that New Frontier had when they closed (thanks to Don Freund, the crook)
Lots of people moved to Pacific when they knew Mike Clark was going there and it’s a great place bowl… Hilander in Kelso could learn from these owners and staff!

Comment Date: 2/10/2008 Name: Scott F. Guinn
I was born and raised in Tacoma and grew up bowling at Pacific. My grandpa bowled there for years (actually died there of heart failure in 1972!), and my dad still bowls there in a league every week. I have not lived in Tacoma for over 20 years, but still Pacific. The staff doesn’t know me from Adam, but still treat me like family. And Mike Clark is a heckuva guy. (I went to elementary school with him!)
Recommended.

Pacific Lanes is a friendly, family kind of atmosphere. You get to know everyone and everyone knows you. They have bowling – of course – a restaurant, with good food. And Rose.
Of Rose I cannot say enough, She is the kareoke
host and sings like an angel, no, better. Rose is beautiful, inside and out. When you come to Pacific you have to meet Rose. If you don’t you are missing the best treat in the Tacoma area.

Comment Date: 3/13/2004 Name: sarah
I like Pacific lanes because they have great people working there and they always do their best to squeeze me in to bowl a couple of games.
They also have karaoke and a fun host 5 nights a week.

They don’t “WAX” the lanes, they condition them. It is done with mineral oil that has additives in it to help it stay put on the lane.
I have bowled in this place before and yes they could use more conditioner. JMO

This center is much higher rated than total of 1.5 stars shown this date. That just does not make any sense. This place is beautiful. Really nice lanes. Fine arcade for kids. Large, clean sports bar. Best in the area.

Comment Date: 3/19/2008 Name: Dale
I find the low scores with no comments puzzling. No, I do not work for Big Al’s but do bowl there regularly and this has to be one of the nicest bowling centers in the NW. The place is busy on weekends, but it should be. Bowling manager is serious about listening to customers’ complaints. Great sports bar. Nothing like it in the Ptd/Vanc area.

Big Al’s is one of a kind in our area. Beautiful building, sports bar/restaurant with HUGE TV screen. Food was spotty but has been getting better. Service in main sports bar could be better, especially just as you arrive. Bowling lanes are immaculant, which they should be since this place is not yet a year old. The “house” could provide leagues more statistical details on their weekly sheets. Great place for kids with the arcade and party rooms. Despite my pet peaves, this place rocks.

I could not find a bowling ball that I liked. Either my fingers would not fit in the holes, or the ball was too heavy. More than once while bowling, I saw my ball come slightly back out of the gutter at the last second and take out some pins. The computers are old and not very easy to read. Food is expensive – movie theater expensive. I’ve bowled twice here, and neither evening was a good experience.

Been a regular customer at Hi Joy for a while now and I can definitally see some pro and con there. The pro is the night shift… They seem to be on a short crew since I always only see Pat Ben and Nick working. The service they give is great. Very friendly and joke around to customers when the time is right. The girls in the restaurant have great service, but the cooks arent the best… Now come the cons. The day care has workers that dress very inappropriate for the job. Sweats and a old sweat shirt is not a great look for a day care… neither is your boobs popping out. The pary cordinator does not dress or act professional, sometimes I question if she knows what she is really doing. The worst part of Hi JOy is the bar.. Totally over serve the customers, argue with customers only to have them say sorry and order pitchers of beer. So go to Hi JOy at your own risk, but PAT BEN and NICK are worth go to visit

been bowling on a leauge for 5 years now, like the experience, but would love to see a more adult rock n bowl, like casino style. after all, you have three sessions, why not make one casino.

Going to try this place out and i’ll let ya know whats up.Have been involved with saving many big business owners butts and i have an open mind on how to run a business ,everyone has an opinion but i have the Experience . Number one is the CUSTOMER without customers you are done, many businesses forget that and just get by with upset customers ,i believe it should be a good experience for both.

Other than that, I go to Hi Joy Bowl often for rock n bowl with friends and it is one of the best things to do in port orchard

I have been going to Hi-Joy since I was a kid, and was excited that my son wanted his birthday there. Well that came to a halt when even though they have 30ish lanes they can only let two be reserved for a party, when I asked if we could rent a few lanes and bring his cake in I was told no because I wasn’t doing the birthday package so no cake. Very dissapointed and the women who handled the birthday stuff was rude!

Hi Joy’s a fun place to bowl, although sometimes the lanes have a few problems like getting bowling balls stuck, or the monitors freezing or showing the wrong score. These are easy to fix and not serious though, and it doesn’t detract from the experience much.
Aside from the usual high prices except on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Hi Joy’s a great place to bowl.

ive pretty much grown up in this place. The Hoems which are the owners truely care about every aspect of business. The lanes are mainted very well.Fast repairs. The front desk people are very friendly and will gladly help you. The food is awesome. its so good it will leave you wanting more even though you know you cant at anymore. There are leagues for all ages. a couple competitive leagues but mostly fun leagues. Best alley in the county if not the western side of washington

My team and I were there on Sunday night Sep 16th for league and then after we got done with league we needed to prebowl. Talked to Dawn at the counter and she kept us on the lane that we just got done doing league on which was fine. I understand it was family night which is no big deal. We were on 15,16 and the other lanes in use out of the whole house were 1,3,4,5,7,9,11,12,13 and 17. Lanes 18-32 were not being used. I talked with Dawn and asked her nicely to move the people that were on lane 17 because they kept walking up on us and she told me that she could not make them move but would talk to them and they still walked up on us. She could have moved them one lane down or moved us but she didn’t care. Its not like it was a full house never the less my team is really upset and not happy with the service.

We did the early session of rock & bowl. It was ok but not family friendly. Some R rated bowlers names (that I wouldn’t even print here), unsupervised preteen getting way too roudy, spilled soda all over the lanes, security too busy chatting to notice. Go with care.

Comment Date: 3/21/2007 Name: Anonymous
The guy at the counter was very rude and it was like pulling teeth to get any information out of him. Despite having to deal with him, and the lady who yelled at us for letting our eleven year old use the bumpers (why is 10 the magic cut off age here? – we are all learning – only the second time any of us have been bowling – ever), we did end up having fun. And, yes, thank you very much, I am officially the gutter ball queen. 🙂

Nice place to bowl, good restaraunt, nice bar. A ton of leagues. The folks at the front desk are great and really friendly. The proshop is great, the pro Nick is very helpful. The only draw back is some of the bars waitresses appear to be flaky, maybe a bad night, I hope so.

I’ve been comming to Hi joy for about 3 years now and they have the best kept lanes in the county. they just started a new PBA league which i’m excited to join and try out the PBA oil patterns.

this bowling alley by far is one of the greatest in the area. the alley is very clean and ive noticed is cleaned abot three times a day. they have a huge amount of league bowlers and some fun leagues to bowl on. i would recommend anyone in port orchard to join a league here they have great rates and a good variety of shots for the lanes. and if theres any problem with the machine they get it running quick. this alley is one of the best and up to date im always impressed with there service and lanes.

I’ve been bowling here since I was 8 – I’m nearing 20 years old and still enjoy hanging out here almost every day with bowling pals of mine. The staff is awesome leaving nothing to be desired.
I shoot a very consistant shot here – a little slower than most – but I keep up an upper 190’s average. Nick in the Pro Shop is one of the best in the business, knowing when all the new gear will be coming out and always offering some friendly info. on working on your shot when you ask.

Contrary to the previous comment, this year has been a lot better than previous years for me. I also am a female bowler at Hi Joy and have been for the past 15+ years and my average is higher than it ever has been, not only that, but the overall cleanliness and environment of the alley is remarkable. I personally would recommend Hi Joy to any of my friends because I feel very well taken care of when I am there. Keep up the good work!!!!

Comment Date: 10/29/2004 Name: Anonymous
I have bowled at Hi-Joy for 20+ years and am in the top 10 of female bowlers. Since the new manager took over, the lane conditions have been very inconsistent and very much favor the male bowlers who are stronger and able to roll the ball harder, and the manager and his buddies have consistent high scores (high 700 3-game and high 900-1000 for 4). I did hear rumors lately that they are having trouble with the oiling machine, but I find that hard to believe. I may not return next season.

Comment Date: 1/22/2004 Name: Anonymous
I took my family to Hi-Joy while visiting relatives in Port Orchard, and was quite suprised at how modern the bowling ally was for it being in such a small town! It was an overall good experience, and we will be back! But the best part was customer service at “Nick’s Pro Shop”, which was located inside. I felt very informed, when inquiring about various items, and learned a lot about bowling even though I just needed new bowling shoes.

Majestic is a “corporate owned” center so you shouldnt expect much because of that fact alone. As for the description of lanes, they are not wood they are sythetic, always have been, and the current sythetics are over the old ones.

Brunswick majestic in 164th is convenient for everyone but? Who ever manage or the branch manager should check the place once in awhile specially the settie area where the bowlers seat , the floor it’s so dirty and sticky and sometimes even the floor where we slide.maybe two or three times a week before they open or after closing just to mop the floor. And the last is not enough people working during daytime it takes time before we need help. And in the evening a lot of leagues going on.Both of us my husband are on a 4 leagues every week. The thing is we’re paying enough for our leagues and the the place is not maintained well.I hope this message will reach to the concerned people of the Brunswick Majestic in 164th, Lynnwood.

Its funny how there are workers coming on here, defending their “work place” and showing just how rude they really actually are ALL THE TIME. My family does a lot of special olympics (handicapped bowlers)And i have visited many of many bowling alleys, this is the only bowling alley that i have ever witnessed WORKERS treating the handicapped bolwers like S*** and there is nothing more rude than someone who will treat handicapped people with such little respect, just cause they are handicapped doesnt give you the {deleted} right to treat them like S***. I swear to god this place deserves all these bad comments and you rude a** management should fire people that would go there. It makes me sick i would have to pay to go there, unfortunately i do NOT have a choice as for i love my uncle and will support him and his handicapped friends with their bowling. I never come in there other than for them due to the fact its BS that a corporation would tolerate such disrespect such wonderful individuals!!!!! I sooooooo am sickened by what i have witnessed, and made it clear to staff and management my feelings, so i know they know who’s writing this!!!!!! YOU DISGUST ME!!!!!!

Brunswick Majestic Lanes is an over priced, poor managed, and extremely rudley bowling alley.
I called for prices and was set up for a Birthday party, when I got there with all the kids, they changed the price and would not honor the price quoted by the staff member. I will not come to this bowling alley again due to the nature of not being customer friendly and not even willing to honor their own document that contains their pricing. Poor poor management!
Food was over priced and no better than Jack n box.

I agree that some employees can be harsh sometimes but definately not everyone. Diak is an amazing employee and Dave in the snack bar can make a mean dish. Majestic is the cleanest bowling center around and offers a veriety of leagues and features.

guys im going to put it simply ive been going there since i was a kid. the food is high priced but not terrible. the manager is a little sour and all but when it comes down to it all the people who work there do there job well. the lanes are great. they have good deals.what was with the place being filthy comment they keep it very cleen. i would recommend it over kenmore and the other lanes in the area.

I agree with most of the post, the customer service given by some of the employees is horrible. However one person I deal with often that is always helpful and has a smile on his face is a guy named Diak, hes great.

Of all the bowling centers in this area I think this is the best one. Everyone has such negative coments about the center. I believe the people that work there are very nice. You have to give them a break! When there are 30 people standing in line waiting to bowl demanding this and that anyone would get a little short tempered!! People are very rude to the people working there. As for the food. Its OK for fast food. The prices did go up alot last year. All in all I would rather bowl there then any other lanes in the area.

Many people, myself included, were very confused by the revamped interface. ,

Comment Date: 4/6/2009 Name: League Bowler
The manager of that facility has to go. He is so rude and arrogant. I don’t understand the “dirty” part. It’s a clean facility. Prices for food and bowling are rather steep. You’d think with the bowling resurgance the last couple of years prices would decrease. I guess not. league bowling pay very little difference then those who are not league bowlers. I think the food is pretty good. Definately overpriced though. Tech City is the same way. The one thing that has to change is the manager. He’s a real idiot.

Comment Date: 3/15/2009 Name: Another league bowler
Place is filthy, bad mangement, food isn’t good and way over priced, the lanes are dirty and not cared for. Never bowl another league there again

ive heard of nightmare stories for centers that were corporately owned.ie….brunswick majestic. they live up to every nightmare possible. lousy food, manager is the most ego-maniac ive ever met. went to amf sunvilla and totally opposite. decent food friendly staff. price comparatively similiar. brunswick higher ups need to remove this manager and replace all staff

Comment Date: 10/10/2008 Name: johnny
An employee has finally reacted on the numerous negative feedbacks, he or she is right, an employee can not have a positive attitude when management is always critical of everything they do.Lead by example, praise your employees everytime they do a wonderful job, have a feedback box for customers to express their frustrations or wonderful experience there in your center.Incentives to motivate staff is also one way of improving everyones’ effort in customer service. For God sakes SMILE!

Comment Date: 8/23/2008 Name: Shirley Lancaster
I have been bowling at the facility 4 or 5 times and it is unbelievable how the staff is always rude. I don’t live in the area and the bowling center I attend in my neck of the woods is great. I feel this facility is lacking in proper customer service training. Why do they hire these type of people?

Comment Date: 8/21/2008 Name: Anonymous
i agree it does start with the management. if they weren’t on the employee’s a**es all the time then maybe the employees would be happier. but in the eyes of management all we ever do is wrong and no matter how hard we try we will never be right. it feels like there is constant criticism never praise. i’m sorry that this is affecting the customers, but if management can’t appreciate a single thing the employees do for them it makes putting on a happy face so much harder

Comment Date: 7/25/2008 Name: johnny
So much has been said about the rudeness of the employees, the ridiculous prices and the manager that walks around and acts like some kind of God. Not a single praise, do something about it before you go out of business! It would be a shame, you have a very nice center. Good luck on re-constructing management.

Comment Date: 6/7/2008 Name: would have been a frequent bowler
Very rude employees and management at the desk. They do not seem to care if you are there or not. Seemed like we were putting them out. Their prices are too high. We had to ask for shoes and it seem like such an imposition and then they were to big even though it was our size. We had to wait while the employees were done talking and then it was like don’t you know your size and then he threw them down on the desk. As you have quessed we have never been back nor will we ever

Comment Date: 4/22/2008 Name: League Bowler
Management is beyond rude and doesn’t care one bit about any thing that goes on. Poor, poor establishment as far as personnel goes.

Comment Date: 3/9/2008 Name: infrequent bowler
The prices, as everyone has pointed out, is outrageous. The prices steals from families especially. What more can I say, If I do I will have to charge money.

Comment Date: 2/17/2008 Name: Neil
The staff does not have any training on Customer Service. They don’t appear to care about the customer. I wonder if they are empowered to solve problems rather then ignore and dismiss them. I usually bowl now at Glacier Lanes or Majestic. Much better pricing and staff

{comments deleted} Are you going there to meet new people or to BOWL. after all it is bowling alley…not a social joint to make friend with staffs. if i were getting paid minimum wage and having to deal with annoying little children and people complaining about it…it wouldnt bet pretty. JUST GET OVER THE “RUDE” STAFF.

Comment Date: 4/10/2007 Name: Bandit
The reason most of the employees at Majestic appear to be indifferent or rude is, like most businesses, it starts at the top. The main manager walks around like some “God” like presence and never greets people, never shows like he’s happy they’re there or any resemblence of caring about anything that goes on at the alley. I’ve been bowling there for over ten years and it wasn’t more than a year or so ago that the lanes looked like it may not stay open (due to lack of business). Now there is lots of people almost every night and the manager acts like he’s the “S***”. Sorry, but the business picked up because of the non-smoking law, NOT the management and the staff. Maybe they should get a grip before business starts to fall off again. Good leadership. That’s where it all begins.

** I bowl league at Majestic Lanes, and cannot understand why so many people think the employees are rude ***
I also Bowl Leagues at Majestic and I have to say that although the Front desk staff is generally Good, the other personel are either incopenant, or like everyone else has mentioned, RUDE and Very Un-Friendly. As opposed to localbowlr, they are going to be the main reason that I go back down to Bellevue and bowl in their leagues… I moved up to Everett this year and joined this league. next Season, I am gonna drive the 60 miles (RT) just to bowl at a nice, considerate & friendly place. Who would of thought I would be picking a place in Bellevue over a place in Lynnwood, How IRONIC….

This bowling alley is th worst i’ve ever been to….the staff is unfriendly, i mean how hard is it to just put a smile on your face to the customers that pay you’re measly $8.25 an hour. The lanes by themselves are good, but that is the only good comment i can leave. Way to overpriced and the food is ridiculous.

Comment Date: 10/24/2006 Name: Paul Stevens
After being told we would have our lane pulled from us, despite having numerous other open lanes. We ended up being charged nearly 50 dollars extra to have our 6 year old bowl also.
I called the following day, as my english parents paid without realising, to be told by David the supervisor, that its not his problem, and to call back in a few days when his manager was in. After asking him what he CAN do rather than what he cant, he told me nothing, and put the phone down –
I would recommend that NOBODY uses this service!!!
They lie, they are useless at dealing with customers complaints, and most definately, over charge!!

We just held our annual fundraiser at Brunswick Magestic last Sunday and it went so smoothly. Johnna and her staff were very efficient and when I needed additional lanes they were quick to switch around their regular patrons to make our event go without a hitch. This bowling establishment is first class – the front desk, snack bar, game room everything was clean and first class. For handling an event of 100+ people – they make it look easy. Thank you for making my job easier!

Incredibly rude staff! The lanes are nice but not worth the headache of price and attitude. I think I’d get better service from a fast food burger joint than this place. so if you like overpaying for lanes, dealing with rude staff and bowling with wannabe yuppie pr!cks, hey have fun.

I stopped in yesterday with my husband and 2 kids for the first time since it has been smoke free. The remodel looks fabulous! The employees there were so helpful and upbeat! I now remember why I loved bowling at this center! It is the only place my family and I will go. Well worth the drive from Marysville!

We’ve been going to Majestic for 10 years now. Service is always my complaint. The front desk is slow and unfriendly. Hard to believe this when they handle so many children’s birthday parties. As for the interior itself, yes, it’s nice and the non-smoking feature help with the kids jackets and clothes not coming home smelling like smoke from a Birthday party. Recently, food has improved and we found the staff at the grill shockingly nice. So, front desk people….smile a little and enjoy the people that are paying your salary…your customers!!!

This place has the best lanes and machines but the customer service is poor and the prices are usually $4.25 a game that’s freaking crazy. The cosmic bowling music blows and they should make better choices about that. Good pro shop except they follow the drilling rules like little women.

I have to say that Brunswick is one of the nicest bowling centers around and I have been to a few. They are newly remodeled which is very nice it’s a lot roomier than most places. It is on the high money side but if you have ever actually been to the bowliny alley there are times in which there are specials going on every night of the week except on the weekends. Which of course it’s going to be on the high side. Now the employees there are some there that could use a better attitude at times but who doesn’t have a grumpy side. But there are some really nice employees there.

Oh yeah one more thing I forgot to mention. The staff is on par with other houses that I have been to. That too bad that you guys have had bad experiences there, I have had more good than bad.

This bowling alley has decent lanes, I have pretty much bowled at every bowling alley around and the lanes are decent at Majestic. Yeah the prices are too high, but you have to know that if you are a league bowler there the house will give you so many free games that you wont have to pay for open bowling very much. Also after 9pm on certain nights the bowling is a buck a game even in the winter. There are pros and cons to everything. The food s*cks, and Brunswick changes managers too often but the place is clean the lane conditions are solid and it looks as though they will stay in business, unlike everyone else. So go bowling.

As a bowler who gets around to many bowling centers in the state of Washington and carries a respectable 216-220 average, I can say that Brunswick Majestic Lanes is not too bad of a place for BOWLING. The prices are VERY high due to the area in which it is located. Mill Creek is home to many ‘above average’ income people and the facility is located very close to them. If they’d check out other bowling establishments in the area, they’d find cheaper rates. While I stop by there to only practice on the synthetic lanes(summer specials only) when I’m in the area, I don’t bother to talk to the pro shop guy or hang around enough to see how the employees treat customers. Problem is though, word gets around very easily in the bowling world and if reliable individuals are being treated rudely or unprofessionally, then it’ll give that center a bad reputation, plain and simple. That’s why league bowlers move to other houses. Being that Brunswick Lanes is run by a ‘corporation’, they can run it as a business just fine with all the kids stuff, etc., but you must also cater to the league bowlers and run a house like a ‘family’ and not as only a business. You give a bowler a sense of familiarity and friendliness and they’ll tell there friends and so on. Also, they’ll be sending there own kids to bowl there in the future due to the atmosphere that the house exemplifies-thus more $ that the house brings in. Brunswick had a great reputation when it first opened up, being that the manager actually knew something about how to run a bowling alley and not just a business, but it has definetly tailed off the last few years. In fact, I managed to bring two 5 man teams over to my league that I’m secretary of at another house as well as two 4 person mixed-teams to another league that I’m also secretary of. Thats a total of 18 people. That would tell me that at least those people didn’t really enjoy their experience at Majestic enough to remain there. You treat people right and more will follow.

You know all the negative comments about you people must be true if the only people saying good things about you are YOU. How sad. The staff is rude, bottom line. I don’t care how nice the facility is, it can’t possibly make up for bad customer service. As far as the comment about Majestic being the only nice center that you have seen, I have a suggestion: LEAVE YOUR HOUSE ONCE IN A WHILE AND GET A LIFE! However please feel free to come on here again and toot your own horn. It just proves everybody’s comments right about you people being rude and arrogant.

As an employee at Majestic lanes for just over 5 years, I cannot believe people would say things like this! As far as the prices go, it’s all about quality! Recently (in the last 3 months) there has been complete remodeling of the alley. The only “nice” looking bowling center I have seen myself. It IS on the higher side of the money scale, but well worth it. As for my fellow co-workers and I, all I can say is believe what you want, but you’ll never know anything until you experience it for yourself. Then come back and tell all the people who already posted reviews how great of a center we are and how nicely you got treated from the excellent staff!

Solid Bowling Alley. One of the nicest in the Everett-Seattle area. Glacier Lanes blows. They oil the lanes to (expletive deleted). At Majestic, the prices are high because people will pay them. It’s always packed during peak time. If you don’t like the prices, then don’t go, the guy behind you in line will be happy take your lane and pay those rates. Secondly, only a handful of employees are rude, but then again, if you’re making minimum wage dealing with ignorant people and their hellish children, you would probably be rude too. Therefore, in general, if you’re a true bowler, looking for well oiled lanes, no overly bs, friendliness from employees, and solid specials, Majestic is the place to go.

My husband went into the pro shop to check out new balls and find out about having his regular ball re-drilled. The pro was quite rude and told him just to throw away his old ball. She did not try to inform him about the pros & cons of the ball he does have, just “throw it away”. His comment: “Why would I buy a new ball from you…” Guess the rude people are in the pro shop, too.

In the years I have gone to this bowling alley, the top two things that have stayed consistant are the well kept, nice facilities, and the extraordinarily rude management and staff.

I would have to agree with everyone else. Majestic is OK for a bowling alley, but yes. Employees are rude and prices are way beyond what they should be! But, you have to admit, when they have specials, man do they have specials! I have to also agree that Glacier Lanes in Everett is much cheaper, however, only has 16 lanes.

Overpriced, employees are rude.

The people there are rude. The prices are too high. I do like when they put the black lights and the music on. This place would be better if they replaced the rude employees and lowered their prices.

This bowling alley is awesome quality but the prices are too high and the people who work behind the counter are not nice at all.

I like Brunswicks Lanes, they are good quality.
Their food is awesome…. I think those are the best burgers around.
Their prices are pretty bad, but that’s why I go a lot in the summer, when it’s 99 cent games!
The people there are friendly to me all the time.

This bowling alley s*cks, their service s*cks. The people are rude and they are way way overpriced. Glacier Lanes is better.
