I have only been bowling here since September, so I only have 10 300 games. I have to agree, the shot is terrible but makes you think alot and I think a better bowler.

Comment Date: 8/23/2010 Name: Anonymous
Well, I bowled 20 300’s in the past month and almost a 900 series. The lanes are terrible but I am just that good.

Comment Date: 7/19/2010 Name: pba EH
Bowled 5 300’s in the last two weeks at this place, great service as well as the facility. And secondly why would you even go to a public alley like that to drill your balls? Are you dumb?

Comment Date: 3/22/2010 Name: Anonymous
the only thing I ever bought was tape too….

Comment Date: 3/22/2010 Name: anonymous
the guy in the pro shop put grips in my sons conventional ball, what a moron. need i say more.

Comment Date: 12/10/2009 Name: Anonymous
BTW Silvers not going anywhere either. Even if AMF chooses not to renew the lease in 4 years the original owners and the people who still own the building/land would just reopen it as a private center.

Comment Date: 9/22/2009 Name: mista bowla
the only thing i would buy from that pro shop is tape…

Comment Date: 8/31/2009 Name: marcus fenix
east haven is a great place to bowl or hang out, work staff is great, but i hear a lot of people say that they had balls drilled in the pro shop that were really not to happy, when you hear alot of negative comments about something you tend to stay away,so that is why i go to buddies pro shop at nutmeg,or bobby fleetwood at milford lanes(if im in a hurry and cant drive all the way to fairfield)these are the two best ball drillers in all the state dont mess with east havens pro shop or anyone else if your a serious bowler because when it comes to bowling, its who is knowledgeable, and them at east haven are not to bright when it comes to ball weights, pin placement, mass bias and measuring your hand, what pitches you need in your ball, they wouldnt know what a pitch was if roger clemens threw it at them, just dont go there you will just have to go to buddies in fairfield at nutmeg,or the bowling store at amf milford lanes(bobby fleetwood)to fix it, so save yourself some aggravation…….believe me

Comment Date: 8/29/2009 Name: NONE
the pro shop s*cks all they do is screw up everything and then tell you they cant fix it

Comment Date: 7/24/2009 Name: Manya
Wait I thought “AMF Manager” was saying this place was going to close down the 1st quarter of 09? Then Silver, etc.? What every happened?

Comment Date: 7/14/2009 Name: Bowler
The kid Mikey at the desk is the rudest person ever. Dude you work in a bowling alley you are not a CEO of a Fortune 500 Company.

Comment Date: 5/26/2009 Name: Anonymous
hey pba dan, just read your last post, sure you are not 7 ? You sure write like you are. Guess the PBA has no age requirements.

Comment Date: 5/22/2009 Name: pbadan

Comment Date: 5/6/2009 Name: Anonymous
Hey Joe, if you think the Pro Shop is OK, I have a bridge for sale. Let me know if you are interested, I mean you must be that stupid !

Comment Date: 5/3/2009 Name: JOE
The pro shop is fine and the guys who run it are great.

Comment Date: 4/25/2009 Name: Anonymous
Hey pba dan, based on your spelling, I did not think the PBA had members that were 7 years old. Come back when you grow up !

Comment Date: 4/17/2009 Name: pba dan

Comment Date: 3/23/2009 Name: toolman
what ever happen to that kid that use to drill balls at east haven under revolutions pro shop,i think his name was ryan he was a really big dude, now he knew what he was doing when it came to drilling balls, and he was one of the best bowlers i ever seen, man he use to revs the cover off the ball,he can drill my equipment anytime,if he’s still around, anyone ever see him anymore?or did he fall off the face of the earth.

Comment Date: 1/16/2009 Name: Anonymous
I usually go to buddies, but because I bowl here in a league, thought I would try out the Pro Shop. Walked in and talked to Tony, the guy that owns the place. I average over 215 and have some knowledge of equipment. Tony is a nice enough guy, but has no clue what he is selling or how it should be drilled. I went back to Buddies and talked to Chris and told him what tony recommended and to my surprissed he laughed. He recommneded a totaly different ball with a extremely different layout. Well I bought the ball from Chris and was happy I did. the ball did exactly what I wanted and the grip is perfect. My advice, keep away from the Pro Shop.

Comment Date: 1/10/2009 Name: Anonymous
The shot is not bad, the place is clean and the Pro Shop is terrible. Enough said.

Comment Date: 11/6/2008 Name: Anonymous
I bowl in leagues here two days a week. I seem to agree with everyones comments on “the kid” he seems very conceited and cocky. Time to grow up little boy

Comment Date: 10/29/2008 Name: Joey
Hey Ed, not sure how much you use the Pro Shop or how good you are with your game, but the Pro Shop needs to be replaced with someone else. The kid, as you put it, thinks he knows everything and Tony doesn’t have a clue how to layout the equipment. Have you ever seen him bowl ? Everything he throws rolls out. If you can’t dril a ball for himself why would you want to trust him drilling one for you. I bowled there when there was no Pro Shop and as far as I am concerned there still isn’t.

Comment Date: 10/22/2008 Name: Edward
I dont know what worse. 90% of the comments here or me reading them all. —Nice place to bowl, really. Tony and the kid seem ok to me.

Comment Date: 9/17/2008 Name: John
I really think that unknow is really tony nelson. Kind of sounds like he talks, jumbled.

To AMF Manager—FYI
AMF Crcle Lanes East Haven has a 75 year lease on the parking lot signed in 1978 by BCA (former owners of the center) and OWNS the building. AMF only got rid of “dog” centers that were a drag on the whole company or expiring leases that didn’t make sense to renew. Hamden Lanes was the only center in the New England Districts (from Massachusetts to Central N.J.) that is scheduled to be closed at this time. The only reason that Hamden was closed is because the center could not get more than a year’s lease year after year (for 5 or 6 years)—because of this they could not spend any money on renovation and that’s why it was closed. Since you are not aware of this you are not a CURRENT AMF Manager, you are either a fraud or a disgruntled former manager. The closing of Hamden only helped the business at East Haven and Milford—it’s called smart business !!!!

Comment Date: 7/27/2008 Name: BowlingFanatic2828
Our Family Fun Club moved here. There are some scoring difficulties and an inconsistent shot; however, we are all very happy with their excellent customer service, starting with Gary. We are very happy here, even though we wish Hamden was still open. Thanks Circle Lanes!

Comment Date: 7/10/2008 Name: Anonymous
Yea, I also heard that USBC will not certify any bowling center in Connecticut, don’t know why. With that being said, I guess all the centers in Connecticut will be closing before the next season starts. Guess, we will all be going to Mass or NY to bowl.

Comment Date: 7/8/2008 Name: Anonymous
I heard that Colony lanes is definitely closing- same story, they lease and the property owner is not renewing in order to put up a shopping center.

Comment Date: 7/7/2008 Name: Anonymous
Wait this place is closing also??? Wow there are going to be no more bowling alleys in CT. I heard that Wallingford was also going to close before the end of the summer. I am not sure if they were open for a year or not.

Comment Date: 7/2/2008 Name: Joe
What is there to renew? They have a 99 year lease! Silver has been renewed to 2013. Where do you get your information from? You are spreading rumors…

Comment Date: 7/1/2008 Name: AMF Manager
Just to let you all know beforehand, AMF Circle will be the next center in CT to close… First quarter of 2009 will be the close date. The owner of the building has already been notified that the lease will not be renewed. After that Silver will go… AMF is pulling out of CT completely… And i am not spreading rumors here…

Comment Date: 7/1/2008 Name: paul
I’ll give tony some credit (very little), but the kid is an idiot who knows nothing about balls, drilling or anything else about bowling. When you know as little as he does, you should be quiet and listen to the customers and try to understand what they are saying and not be arrogant and try to put them dowm like he ALWAYS does. He needs to grow up.

Comment Date: 6/30/2008 Name: —
I think everyone’s just a little mad that “the kid” and Toney know more about bowling and the balls then the bowlers themselves.

Comment Date: 6/10/2008 Name: Anonymous
I dont know whos a bigger jerk the kid or Nelson.

Comment Date: 6/4/2008 Name: Anonymous
Jimmy, very well said about the pro shop. That is the same experience I had. The guy that used to be in Hamden may not have had a fancy looking place, but he made you feel welcome.

Comment Date: 5/28/2008 Name: Joey
Anonymous, the only person here trying to start trouble is you. You are probably used to being ignored, so I am just going to add my name to the very long list of others. Lisa, I am single, in my 20’s and have a girlfriend.

Comment Date: 5/24/2008 Name: Anonymous
I just read the Hamden site and nowhere does it say this center is going to close down…it just has a generic comment that says other AMF centers will be closed. Why do you people need to look for and make trouble? Get a life.

Comment Date: 5/24/2008 Name: Lisa
Joey, where do you bowl? Are you single? Just curious.

Comment Date: 5/22/2008 Name: Joey
Hey Anonymous. I was not trying to spread any rumors. I read this on the Hamden site and was curious about how much business Circle has. Thats all. Plus this is just me, not anyone else. I post my real name and not just Anonymous that you did. Also, I have no desire to see any bowling center close nor do I care about the Pro Shop.

Comment Date: 5/20/2008 Name: Anonymous
I know Joey, Jimmy, and George, who is probably the same person, would love to see the center or the proshop closed down for their own personal reasons, but I would hate to have to drive over 30 miles to bowl or have my grips changed. Gas is already over $4 a gallon and bowling prices are already up there. I dont care about the AMF rumors or the opinion of the proshop guy, just give me a place to bowl and get some easy slide that is within respectable driving distance. Unless you open another Center and proshop on this side of the bridge, please stop trying to make it more difficult for those of us on a tight budget. You apparently bowl and shop somewhere else so this place shutting down wouldnt affect you negatively. The next closest place to me would be Old Saybrook which is probably another AMF Center without a proshop.

Comment Date: 5/18/2008 Name: Jimmy
Anyone gone into the pro shop recently ? The owner and the kid that works there are sure into themselves. If you do not agree with them, they look at each other and laugh. Would not recommend this place to anyone. Real bad customer service (unless you agree with everything they say).

Comment Date: 5/18/2008 Name: George
Does that Tony guy still run the pro shop ? I heard he was going to jail. Does anyone know ?

Comment Date: 5/16/2008 Name: Anonymous
They have a 99 year lease – they put in new auto scoring 2 years back, new lanes. This center is not closing, contrary to what some other desperate bowling center owners are trying to say.

Comment Date: 5/10/2008 Name: joey
Some clown on the hamden site is saying this center is going to close down. I have not been in circle in years. Is this a busy center and if so, what would be the reason for AMF to close it down ? Not trying to spread any rumors, especially bad ones, just curious.

Comment Date: 3/24/2008 Name: another ex amf meadows bowler
to annonymous,it’s amazing to see you brag about these cloud nine dream scores.you like to brag,go on the pba tour and we all can see what happens when these wall-of-china-shots,,,are nowhere to be seen.it’s time for usbc a.k.a abc,to bring back skill and shotmaking, without s*ckers like you who couldnt adjust to real challenging lane conditions, not these sport league garbage.pba experience leagues even better.

Comment Date: 3/17/2008 Name: Anonymous
Forget Sport leagues. I like the shot there. in the last 2 months, I shot 18 300 games, 16 sanctioned, and 6 800 series, 5 of them sanctioned. The 899 wasn’t sanctioned. Not bad for a guy that bowls only a couple of nights a week.

Comment Date: 3/11/2008 Name: John
With all the talk about sport conditions, it would be nice to see a sport condition league at this center. It would make for good practice before going to the Nationals. I hear USBC is putting down a sport condition starting this year in New Mexico.

Comment Date: 3/1/2008 Name: FB
I have only talked to the guy that owns it a few times. What did he do illegally ?

Comment Date: 2/25/2008 Name: Jim
The pro shop is horrible, the kid working there at least knows alot more than the guy that owns it. Matter of fact isn’t the guy that owns it in trouble with the law for doing illegal things? Why would you go there to get a ball from someone who is not trustworthy.

Comment Date: 2/14/2008 Name: Annonymous
Circle lanes pro shop is one onf the wrost you will ever see. It is run by people who only want you to buy their products. Go to bussies

Comment Date: 2/6/2008 Name: FB
Yea, I have to agree about the Pro Shop. I bowl there in only one league on Monday night. Walked in there a few times to look at the latest balls and the kid comes off as a real know it all. I am no braniac about equipment, but I do have some knowledge and this kid appeared to be way off on some of his comments. Plus it is hard to trust some kid (who does appear to be still in high school) telling you about equipment and how to spend your $200. I will stay with Buddies. They have the real experience that you can trust.

Comment Date: 1/31/2008 Name: George
The Pro Shop is terrible. If you want it done right (not by some kid fresh out of high school) go to buddies.

Comment Date: 1/29/2008 Name: anonymous
circle lanes shop is a complete craphole. go to milford or faifield.

Comment Date: 1/28/2008 Name: Pete
I walked into the Pro Shop a few months ago, thinking about buying a new ball. I did talk to the kid that was running the place for a while and I have to agree that his attitude completing turned me off. Now I am in my 40’s and have been bowling for over 25 years averaging around 215 to 220 depending on were I bowl, so I know something about the equipment. Whoever owns the shop should either train this kid or fire him, this kid does think he knows everything. I went back to Buddies. If you are buying a ball for a kid, then go to the kid to have it drilled. If you are a serious bowler, than go to Buddies.

Comment Date: 1/25/2008 Name: Anonymous
Has anybody bought a ball from the kid in the pro shop ? He sure thinks he knows everything about bowling and drilling. I think he has been drilling for 6 months or so. I couldn’t stand talking to the kid so I went to Milford. Glad I did.

Comment Date: 8/6/2007 Name: bowler
I agree the new manager is not the best. I dont see him there that much. I did not know Eric that well but at least I saw him there alot.

Comment Date: 6/24/2007 Name: JB
The new manager is awful..Wish they would bring the old one back, I think his name was eric?

Comment Date: 5/18/2007 Name: Tried It
I must agree, the pro shop is terrible. I watched the “Pro” bowl and everything is threw rolled out. Can’t see why anuone would get a ball drilled there when it can’t drill one for himself

Comment Date: 4/13/2006 Name: MD
The lanes are great if you are someone who is not a bowler and just want to have fun, but also if you are a bowler who is very dedicated it is a great place to come to practice and to see a good high scoring game. I have heard other people complain about the proshop that it is not open enough during the day but look at other ones how often are they open? I love the proshop. Personally I will not get my bowling balls drilled anywhere else.

Comment Date: 3/28/2006 Name: JB
The pro at the pro shop is not very good, I go some where else. Other that that it’s a good place to bowl, friendly people and the lanes are in pretty good shape most of the time.

Comment Date: 3/2/2006 Name: AT
The lanes are great for high scoring action. The Proshop is only part time and they are adding a new person to help run it. Circle Lanes is right off I95 in East Haven, CT The 4 Horseman League Rocks!

Comment Date: 10/31/2005 Name: JS
Pro shop is the worst in the state. The guy has no idea what he is doing. Should be a porter not a pro shop owner.

It is now February 2012. Where is that PBA tournament that’s supposed to be here? Bradley Bowl will NEVER be the way it was decades ago.

I was on a TSA league in 2006 the grill had a manager Dan, where did he go? he knew his stuff what a loss! Bradley get him back

go to the new shop owned by newlyweds john and alex guadagnino. great ball drillers! great lessons! great people and fair prices.

Comment Date: 10/23/2011 Name: Avid Bowler
The lanes have definitely changed…can’t believe how bad they are. Hopefully when the sale of the place is finalized from Bowl New England to Carl Barnes, he will run it better…meaning he will have more control over how the lanes are oiled.

Comment Date: 8/13/2011 Name: Anonymous
Are they planning on moving Bradley Bowl to Vegas ?

Comment Date: 6/8/2011 Name: Micky D.
In other words, he does not know for sure. I’ll believe it when I see it on the tour schedule.

Great news everyone! Carl just told me the other day that the PBA is coming back to Bradley Bowl! I sure have missed them being here…I can’t wait! He said Jan or Feb 2012!

Went back to Bradley for the first time in 13 years. What a disappointment. The staff were cranky and not very customer focused. I realize I am a middle aged, ‘non-birthday party participant’ but, for 4 games income, a thanks or a smile would not have killed anyone.

Comment Date: 2/25/2010 Name: Sam
I recently went to Bradley bowl and had a terrible experience . Everyone who worked there was very rude. The bartender told us not to bother her so she could Leavw work early! We weren’t allowed to buy one game at 9:30pm. The entire staff was very rude . I will not be going back.

I could care less about the lane conditions, how clean the center is or how friendly the staff is, if the chairs are not done right, I will not bowl ! Lets make a stand, fix the chairs or lose your leagues and open play ! Let’s face it, having the right chairs will bring in the bowlers, eveyone knows that !

Comment Date: 5/2/2009 Name: sharkey
wow..you people even complain about the chairs??? This is a first on this site!! (or any other bowling site) With so many complaints..why do you pay to go there and find fault with everything? Take up ping-pong!!

Comment Date: 4/13/2009 Name: Mike
Who ever is re-doing your chairs is ripping you off (if you are doing it yourselves – shame on you). They are poorly re-covered and certainly not re-upholstered. Please spend a few bucks and get it done right so your customers can experience a pleasant stay and not have to endure back torture.
Thank you

He has a great point. Also the kids walk all over the bowling lanes and area with regular shoes on tracking all kinds of crap down there.

Comment Date: 3/24/2009 Name: Sunday Night Bowler
Carl…how could you possibly put a birthday party on a league pair of lanes when you know that the birthday party will go past the time that the league will start. Our league has a contract for specific lanes at 6pm on sundays. We pay really good money to have these lanes ready for us to bowl on at our contracted time. How can the bowling alley ask the league to hold up there end of the contract when the allies itself breaks the contract every week by not having the lanes ready and or having the league wait while the lanes are cleared of presents, people and birthday cake. As a league bowler this is not tolerable!!! Lastly, if you believe that birthday parties will pay the monthly bills, then get rid of the leagues, but at my last calculation our league pays the lanes just under $20,000 for the 35 weeks that we bowl…that’s a lot of birthday parties to fill in for each league that leaves the house…RESPECT EVERY LEAGUES CONTRACT!!!!

I would have just gone to friendly’s up the street anyway. Breakfast at a bowling alley just doesnt seem right to me. They probably use the same oil to cook as on the lanes.

Comment Date: 2/9/2009 Name: Common Sense
I apoligize for not spending my entire life savings on bowling shoes, but if people would just us some common sense it would best for everyone.

Comment Date: 2/9/2009 Name: Unsatisfied Sunday Night Bowler
Carl, if you’re going to announce that the snack bar is going to be open for breakfast on a sunday morning for the league bowlers, please do not cheat your customers with the tiny/cheap hamburger buns for your breakfast sandwiches instead of the bulky rolls that you use for your regular burgers…what a disappiontment and rip off breakfast was! We will eat elsewhere before bowling if we have to bowl in the morning again.

Comment Date: 2/9/2009 Name: Unsatisfied Sunday Night Bowler
Bradley and Carl have definitly started to cater to the birthday parties ($ that is suppose to be extra income not to pay the bills) instead of the league bowler…last night we had cake, frosting, and garbage all over the lane and setee area and then one of our lanes was broken for the entire 10 min practice session. Never mind the foot prints that were all the way down to the arrows on both our lanes. (Is no one watching these kids? Someone is going to get hurt)! We pay good money ($ that pays the bills) to bowl every weekend and we get this kind of crap service we get.
Carl, please do something to help the league bowlers (Either make sure the house is prepared for them or decrease the lineage so we can have bigger prize funds and no excuse but to deal with this crap)

Comment Date: 2/8/2009 Name: Anonymous
To more common sense, how many Dexter #8 soles do you carry in your bag ? Don’t be stupid, you change soles to obtain a differnet slide on the approach, going to a higher or lower number will alter you approach. People with WET shoes, should not walk intot he setee area. Thats more sence than you have.

I went to Bradley Bowl last night.. i had such a blast. I got really high scores with just one ball. I looked a little down the lanes to my right and i saw someone with like 10 balls.. i felt sorry.. if only he knew how to throw one. this dude s*cks.. i cant wait to see his comment about lane conditions. lol its always the lanes faults never the bowler. I’d like to give a shout out to Gary and Elaine.. your the best.

This website is suppposed to be a feedback of customers experience, whether its good or bad. Why would management want to look to see this site to fix problems if all they get are comments about every one elses comments? Honeslty, i know most of you and i think you all are acting like children Grow up. Maybe the lanes are fantastic. Instead of you spending your day on here you need to practice more. If you need help, the pro shop is right there. If you took the sticks out of your a**es when you bowl, it would help your scores as well. Hey Carl… you rock

This is to Common Sense, if you buy a pair of bowling shoes with interchangable soles you would not have a worry about your soles getting wet.

Comment Date: 1/22/2009 Name: Common Sense
I can’t believe that there are league bowlers who still don’t have a clue that it’s winter (snow, ice, etc) and walk in the setee area with their wet shoes. They must not care whether anyone falls flat on their face because they have water on their bowling shoes. Come on people lets be a little smarter from now on before someone ruins a $150 pair of bowling shoes or even worse wrecks their knee!

Please be advised, its not that Bradley is a BNE house that things are going wrong, its the in house manager. There are plenty of BNE houses, such as Vernon and Shaker in East Longmeadow that run very very well. In fact, BNE put 2k in a Thursday Night Trio’s league last year, and always puts out consistent shots. Just saying, dont be quick to trash BNE, they are the owners, but need to hear feedback to make the house as good as it can be. Also, at Shaker, they do a pizza wheel before the start of each league night. They spin the wheel, and a team gets a free pizza each week on a certain lane, not bad idea.

In the era of reactive resin bowling balls and most bowling alleys losing teams to other houses because of there easier lane conditions and how they handle difficult situations. Think to yourself, the last thing you would want to have happen if you had a bowling alley is the oiling machine not working. Right? If this happened wouldn’t you want a back up machine or some one on site that could repair it or at least be talked through a repair problem. I guess thats the last thing that bradley bowl is worried about. Since thursday of last week the oiling machine has been broken. Told to me by carl himself. I don’t mind bowling on a tough shot when it is for a tournament, but when I just want to go out and have a good time with my family on my one league night a week. I don’t want to have to be hitting a spot 3 boards wide to strike all night. Thats not what I pay 17 dollas a week for. I know im not the best bowler in the worldd but Im just like everyone else. The better I bowl the happier I will be. Wow a customer being happy? Lets see better house shot equals a happier customer. Thats a great concept for getting the avg. bowler back into your bowling center. So for my final thoughts I would just like to say to carl, you either need to get a new mechanic or you need to handle these situations a little different so you don’t loose the rest of the leagues that you have in that house. Thanks again. Hope the machine is fixed by monday night or you might have a lot more unhappy bowlers.

I find it absolutely sickening that the center manager thinks he is helping by interviewing bowlers on the conditions at bradley bowl. I bet he could make a hell of a rum and coke but last night he didnt even know how to operate the register at the desk!! Red might have been a mean old guy but he knew how to do his job. any bowling center that turns down the PBA is on crack. BNE is a joke. They have turned one of CT’s top bowling center into a 3 ring circus. It is very unfortunate that management doesnt feel that BOWLING at a BOWLING CENTER should be a #1 priority. I have been bowling at Bradley since I was old enough to walk. I bowl on the Thursday night WL industrial league.I am part of a team that has won 3 straight league titles and holds the highest team triple and single game total scratch in the leagues history.Since BNE took over our league has shrunk considerably. So bad we had to merge with another league so we could actually have more than 10 teams. Our team will not be returning to Bradley next year. Not that anyone on here cares but Bradley should be ashamed of themselves for chasing away the heart and soul of the center, their league bowlers.

Comment Date: 10/29/2008 Name: Anonymous
Dropping the league lineage $2 per week will not bring back the bowlers. This adds up to $8 per month, not that much. BNE did their thing by trying to make the center into a recreation center. They wanted bithday parties with kids spending their parents money on all the games they installed. They thought that open play would increase because the added loud music along with the games. BNE did not want league bowlers or tournaments. Now after a few years of seeing empty lanes and league bowlers going elsewhere, are they changing their minds ? Not really sure what the answer is. I think for Bradley to be successful again, BNE would have to sell to someone else with more emphasis on league and tournaments. I think the bowlers are still there waiting to come back.

It’s pretty sad that the Bradley Bowl Pro Shop personal close early to go bowl at another house! Should this tell us something?

Comment Date: 10/26/2008 Name: Skip Odiorne
I am glad to see that some of my comments sparked some of the truths to come out. To Dave, I appreciate the feedback. I would hope that management would take this to heart and make some better offers to get the income from the tournament lineage into the house. I also appreciate seeing mop respond to see the reasons that some of the top Connecticut bowlers have chosen to leave Bradley also and agree totally with the logic. Rick brings up some good points also, birthday parties and extreme bowling seem to be management priority and leagues take a back seat. They are all good points and I am hoping that they strike home. I have seen Carl try to make the effort to show concern and interview the bowlers to try to get an idea of things to try. They have purchased a new oiling machine and brought in people to help train them. The shot seems to be more consistent this year than the prior two years but it seems all the feedback below seems to target pricing more. I am not sure that Carl and Nono have the power to control this, so I am hoping that BNE has seen some of this feedback and uses it to make some better business decisions. I agree that there doesn’t seem to be too much difference between the open lineage for 3 games and the lineage for leagues for 3 games. This leaves very little for the prize fund unless the league votes to up dues, which tends to drive more and more out, especially in todays economy. I can tell you for the past two years that winning the Elm St Package league, along with individual & team awards for series, game, average, etc. didn’t cover but about half of what we invested to bowl for the year. So, I can agree with the info below very easily. I am not sure that BNE realizes that a 20 to thirty percent drop in lineage for leagues may return more in overall revenues. If you drop the the lineage by 20 to 30 percent and can bring back 20 to 30 percent of the bowlers that left, the revenues would actually be higher. In a declining economy, lowering pricing to increase sales is a practice that successful businesses make. The bowlers may still pay $15 to $16 per week but more of it would be benefiting the prize fund, while the house still gets the same revenues because of increased membership. If the current 80 bowler league increases to 100 bowlers and the lineage drops from $11.50 to $9.50, the house’s revenue goes from $920 to $950 and the prize fund for the league increases by 40%. This formula also works in reverse, which seems to be the trend. The other factor of this is that the league dues are a guaranteed fixed income for about 34 weeks of the year, whereas the parties and extreme bowling are variable. In a business, it makes more sense to grow the fixed income portion of the business because the variable portion is not reliable. At times, the variable may exceed but it is tougher to sustain, especially in a depressed economy. My hopes out of all of this is to get Bradley back to being a thriving house, like it was under Red’s management. It may be a losing battle but as I stated earlier, I would hate to see the leagues get so small that the bowlers just give up because that would be the end of Bradley Bowl. Seeing some of the leagues that used to almost fill the house drop to 10 to 12 teams is a very grim vision and that is where we are at now. I will get off my soapbox now but I hope that this sparks some interest in saving this house.

The lanes at Bradley are oiled early in the morning so by the time you bowl league at night they’re drier then a bone. They don’t really care if you’ve bowled there for 20 years or 2 years. All they care about is B-day parties and fun bowl.
The lanes breakdown more now than ever and all they have to fix them is bob the mechanic. So if 3 lanes break down we’re all screwed. It was nice when the lanes were oiled in the afternoon and they had a couple of mechanics at any given time.
I’ve bowled at Bradley for 33 years and has most of my family, so I’ve seen a lot of changes and seems to be getting worse.
One other thing they are suppose to keep the music off during league play but don’t turn it off unless someone says something or complains. If I want to listen to music while I bowl, I will go bowling on friday nights instead.

I am having a real ahrd time understanding why anyone would even want to bowl at Bradley. First it’s 13 per week to bowl and if your like some of the people in my league who are rec bowlers they dont have there own shoes. theres another $3 per week. So really you end up paying 16 per week. Now what are you getting for 15 per week that you would nto get for not being in the league. NOTHING. its 4 per game NON league and 3 for shoes. So really you are paying more for being in a league and get nothing in return. Why is it people want to complain that there are not as many bowlers these days. Well let me anwser that for you, People dont want to pay out the rear for less. Screw Bradley bowl.

Get your facts straight ghost writer. I work for Covidien (the ones with the banner on Fenway Park) as an Accountant. I have worked there for 20 years, since they were Tyco Healthcare. I am an accountant and worked a second job at Target for about a year or so and haven’t worked there in over 3 years.
Yes. I have purchased some equipment off of EBay but what does that have to do with anything? They are the same balls that you buy in the Pro Shops for a much discounted price. And, actually the recent ones are actually straight from the manufacturer for almost 50% off. But, as I said, what difference does that make?
You seem to chicken to even use your real name. The real point I am trying to make is that Bradley will end up going under if the league population continues to drop.
I agree that some are at other houses because of the prize funds. Would they come back, if Bradley got some sponsors to kick in? That is something that management should be asking. Yes, the Classic League was great and I wish it would come back.
Some of the other league bowlers left because of the ever changing conditions (last year and the year before, this year has been pretty good so far). Your average 160 to 170 bowler is not going to spend money at the Pro Shop to get a range of equipment to handle dry, medium and heavy oil conditions. They are just going to get frustrated and give up or go to another house. Management seems to be addressing this situation and hopefully this will bring some of them back.
I would like to see Bradley be as popular as it was in the 80’s and 90’s and the sport of bowling cannot afford to have more houses close (like Riverdale, Meadows, etc.). I can’t stress enough that I think management is headed in the right direction with polling the average league member for input and making efforts to make it more enjoyable to bowl at Bradley.

Comment Date: 9/27/2008 Name: Dave C.
As a NEBA officer, I can give the reason why NEBA is not going to Bradley. At the end of every bowling year houses are asked to bid for the tournament. Many houses give discounted rates for lineage, location, and bowler turnout for the tournament are also considered. Bradley is a prime location, since bowl new england has taken over they have not offered any break in lineage. Houses that NEBA goes to offers around $2 per game, Bradley offered $3.50 a game and full price for practice. You can’t have a tournament where you lose money. They wouldn’t even put the $50 center donation in. It just goes to show that Bradley has become less of a competitive bowlers bowling alley and more of a persons entertainment center. Don’t get me wrong if Bradley offered a break in price, NEBA would instantly go back there. They do treat the bowlers fairly, it would be nice to see them bring a competitive money league back to Bradley and less of the Have a ball leagues.

Skip first off I didn’t know you had all this time on your hands to write a book of bowling. Second, working at target loading trucks is close to being an accountant. Third, keep buying those balls off ebay they really seem to be working for you. Ok now that I let that out lets get back to what this website is really about. I agree with some points you said especially about the discounted league bowling. I agree they should give the price all the time. I know for a fact that Baral and the bowlers you mentioned aren’t bowling at Bradley because there are no big money prize funds in any of the leagues at Bradley. The classic league was the best league they had. The bowlers you mentioned left to bowl elsewhere because they want to use their ability to make money. Can’t really blame them. It had nothing to do with the shot just the prize fund. As far as my knowledge goes all the leagues at bradley are decent to bowl in but in the end you wont make your money back if you win the league. You lose money and thats a reason why they are going elsewhere. The different houses are also giving the leagues discounts where I believe bradley is around $11 per league bowler per week. Here we are complaining online, this is a bowlers journal and everyone has to right in it. Talk to management instead of writing on this website. Enough said

To the author of the comment on 9/16. You obviously don’t read too well. Mark stated that 70% of his problems were his own mistakes, I stated that Bradley was improving and Nick never blamed the lane conditions for anything. As a matter of fact, I shot my first 300 at Bradley last year, Nick shot 3 of his own and Nick also carried a 220 average, which is probably the highest carried at Bradely last year. Which brings me to another question: If good bowlers adjust to the lanes and “deal with it”, then why don’t Litch, Baral, D-Roy, the Macierowski brothers, the Majors, etc. bowl at Bradley any more? They used to bowl at Bradley all the time and sometimes multiple leagues. We also used to have the pros every year, the world team challenge and the senior tour. Even NEBA has taken Bradley off the regular schedule for the past 2 years. My question, if I were management, is what happened and what can I do to fix it? When you can answer some of these questions, I think you will find that even some of the “elite” bowlers have some of the same thoughts and opinions that we have stated below.

Comment Date: 9/21/2008 Name: Skip Odiorne
Being an accountant, I can agree with some of the comments below regarding the pricing. I am not saying that league prices are too high because $20 per week is acceptable. You would spend $20 doing any type of entertainment on any given night (going out to dinner, a night at the movies, a concert, even shooting pool). The regular rates for open bowling are meeting the average also. The national average is $4.35 per string, according to the latest at Bowl.com and the International Bowling Digest. The one thing that other houses are doing that Bradley doesn’t is unrestricted league discounts. Bradley only gives league discount based on time blocks. Other than those times, the regular rates apply. If I had 5 to 10 bucks in my pocket, I would be more apt to come to the lanes and shoot a couple, if I knew that I would be able to shoot more than a game or two. With the regular rates of $4.50 per string, that wouldn’t happen. If the league rates were applied any time that there were open lanes available for $1.50 or $2, I would make more of an effort to come up. That would make Bradley’s profit $5 or $10 versus the zero that they would get if the regular rates were applied because it wouldn’t be worth my time to come up and shoot 1 or 2 games. Many of the other houses, like Silver, South Windsor, Chicopee, Airway, etc. offer league discounts any time that open lanes are available. This is even during league hours if the leagues don’t fill the house. Just a suggestion.

Comment Date: 9/21/2008 Name: Skip Odiorne
I have not complained about the conditions and do not blame the house for my bad days. I have adjusted and carried over 200 in 90% of my leagues last year, of which most were at Bradley. I am not a 220 or 230 average but can maintain about 200 on any shot. In fact, over my past 3 regional tournaments, I have even averaged about 198 on the PBA patterns, improving my game each attempt. One major step in achieving this, however, was to expand my arsenal to be able to handle different conditions. Most bowlers under 200 are not going to carry 5 or 6 balls with them because they are unsure of the conditions that they will deal with that night in leagues. They will also not spend $600 to $800 or more to be able to carry that equipment because they are just average bowlers trying to have a good time. When they stop having a good time because they are fighting different conditions every week, they quit and find another house. I enjoy Bradley Bowl and have enjoyed it since I started bowling 20 years ago. I don’t want to see it close but the ever declining league membership is showing me that it may be inevitable. The efforts of the management is the only thing that will stop that from happening. Lately, those efforts have been noticed. Keep up the good work.

Comment Date: 9/21/2008 Name: Skip Odiorne
To the guy that can write any name… If you read my comment, I was actually complimenting the house for their efforts. I didn’t say anything about not being able to adjust to the shot. Yes, you are right, the better bowlers can adjust to the pattern. I am currently adjusting pretty well to what is out there. Unfortunately, you have to think of everyone when you are running a business and not everyone is a bowler that can adjust. If you look at the national average of a bowler, 160 is about the norm. Your average 160 bowler is not going to be happy about ever-changing conditions and dropping 10 or 20 pins off their average. Hence, they will go look for a house that conditions similarly throughout the year, where they can maintain their average and possibly improve. I am not trying to look out for myself, I am trying to think of what is best for the house because I have seen the reduction in league membership and would like to see this house stay in business. Only the top 5% of all bowlers are 200+ averages. That leaves 95% of the bowlers in the other category that would like to see similar conditions from week to week, so that they can tell whether their decline is related to them or the shot pattern. I think that Bradley is making the right efforts now in trying to get the conditions out there to get some of those league members back. Carl has been more involved in speaking with the league bowlers of all average capacity, they got the new oiling machine, brought in people to work with the staff on running it, etc. I tip my hat to the efforts that I have seen from the management at Bradley over the past year or so.

I agree with every one on this site. You want to know why, I have bowled about every night of the week at Bradley bowl and I know what the lanes will give me every night. If they are going to be oily or not. I know wednesday is a tuff night to bowl and that you NEVER DO get the same shot each week. At least on the right side. Other nights aren’t to bad.People that complain should try bowling tuesday nights. The shot there is pretty good. Or even the shot on Sunday night this year has been pretty good. I just s*ck thats why im avg. 185 so far for 2 weeks of bowling. I just look at this way. When I do start to bowl better I will have some handicap to smoke every one with. But for not having been able to put the time in to bowling Im a lil rusty. I have given up on making excusses for bowling. Im not going to be a pro so why should I care. At this time I would like to give a shout out to Litch, “No Mopas Here”. Hope you get to read that. Those where some good days. In my final comment I would like to say that lets all look at the big picture and think, am I really that good to care that much about bowling. If you are I will probably see you on T.V. some day. I am suprised that your all complaining how there is no oil and the lanes are dry. When the lanes are oiled you guys complain that there is too much. How bout you whiners do bowling a favor and shut up and bowl. I guess you all are not good enough to adjust to the shot. They make different equipment for todays lanes. Why not spend the money and buy a ball rather that complaining about why your rubber ball wont work. Bowling like everything else is changing. So you must spend money and put the extra time in to become better. To these so-called bowlers who come to their one night a week league and expect to throw the ball in the exact same spot everytime and strike. Well I got news for you, you won’t strike like you want. Try moving, play a different line, move hand positions. Make the changes and stop complaining on here week in and week out. The bowling managers read these things but they are not going to go cater the lanes for you. Funny how that it is always the weds. night bowlers that complain and yet everyone gets the same shot for the week. I mean I get more laughter coming on here than I do going to the Funny Bone. Its ridiculous you guys are obviously never going to be happy. I know what’s going to happen next, Nick Mele or someone is going to say common put your shoes on and bring your balls and I’ll bowl ya for all your money. It’s so predictable. Just because you guys can’t get the average you want, why not blame yourself instead of trying to blame everyone but yourself. You dont see baseball players complaining when they doing get a meatball everytime they are at bat. They have to work to get the hits. What I am saying is you must adjust to what is given to you. Plain and simple.

Comment Date: 9/17/2008 Name: Anonymous
I am not saying that bowlers should not adjust to the current condition on the lanes, but I do think the center should oil at least once per day just before their nightly prime time league. Some bowlers can not afford to purchase new equipment everytime the lane condition is different. For those of you that can, good luck to you. All a league bowler can ask for is a consistant shot from week to week. Yes sometimes something will go wrong, but that should not be the norm. Putting down a fresh shot for the prime time league is just “Good Business Practice”. We all know bowling is on a decline, if putting down a fresh shot will keep the bowlers coming back, then it should be a no brainer. Now, I do not care if the shot is consistantly dry or oilly, just be consistent.

Comment Date: 9/14/2008 Name: Anonymous
John, most houses oil the lanes twice per day depending on the amount of play during the day. The houses that oil only once per day, do it before their prime time league (normally around 5pm) and try to keep open play away from these lanes. Yes, when school is out, that is extremely difficult and sometimes during these days the lanes will not be fresh, but this is not the norm. Its hard to call someone a crybaby when the lanes you are bowling on were used by 5 or more people throwing plastic all over the place and the lanes next to you are fresh. Not a fair condition for a league to have to bowl on. Late leagues that start 8:30 or later take what they give you because there is no time to re-oil the lanes. The centers that break these rules are normally the ones that lose thier prime time league bowlers.

How many of you bowled down Fairfield County, it is not to far down the Merrit Parkway? I have and maybe I am spoiled by the oiling of the lanes down in that part of the state. ( I still go down once or twice a week to bowl) It is done before the beginning of every league unless it is not specified by the contract with the house. Most leagues are. And most leagues are up in the the 25 – 35 dollar range. So all the bowlers up is this part of CT. should not complain. I sat very quiet (Ha Ha) and not said a word for 4 years at Bradley Bowl. It is my turn to speak. My voice has been not been heard and it is only a start so I say this to everyone. I do not say too much during bowling but I can say this to Bowl New England (Bradley Bowl) if you want to sell or want someone to make you an offer PLEASE CONTACT ME. I don’t mean this in any bad way (or a hostile takeover just if they are ready to talk) Until then I will sit be happy with my new team. Hey Wednesday night bowlers how would you like to get a sponsor for the league? They would be willing to put up a few thousand into the prize fund so we can attrack more bowler.

Hiya Skip, what’s up?? How was the summer?
I hope that you’re right about the conditions getting better. I bowled on Sunday nights this past summer. The condition was okay the first 3 weeks and the last week of the summer league; in between those weeks the middle of the lanes was so f’n DRY I put my Action in the polisher for a minute and a half. There was no outside shot that I could find. I suspected that the lanes weren’t oiled over the weekend but the Sunday night lane guy couldn’t tell me if they were or not.
It wasn’t fun at all.
As with all bowling though, you have to find something for a line and play it well; I didn’t do that consistently. I’d say it was 30% a crappy condition and 70% that I made too many mistakes.
Another slice of humble pie!!

Nano, will put open bowlers anywhere he wants to. He is old school, he says if you are good, then adjust to the lanes and stop complaining. He may have a point, but it sure would be nice to give the leagues a nice fresh condition, since we quaranteed money and paying most of the bills.

I also did hear that they purchased a new oiling machine. But that fact is that oiling one time per day does not cut it. If they have 3 – 4 maybe 5 leagues per day than maybe they should lay down 15′ of oil for the last 2 squads. Not reoil the whole lane. This would save time and money. All the house would have to do is schedule an extra 15 – 30 minutes at the most to do the lanes that are used for leagues. I just wish that the league protests over the conditions of the lanes. I keep hearing that it has been like this for years. By the way does the house try to keep the open bowlers off those lanes that are used for leagues after they have been oiled?

Comment Date: 8/28/2008 Name: Wednesday Commerical league bowler
Well, our season has started and it was nice to see all the guys again. I thought things would be a little bit different since the house went up on there prices again. It is like we never had a break from last year. The lanes are even drier than they were last year. Thank you Bradley Bowl for a nice dry welcome back!!!! After this year I say the league take a vote and change were we will bowl next year. Maybe that will wake up the staff. Or doesn’t the league Pres. and Sec. have any {deleted} to do something like that.

I will not hide behind some made up screen name. I have bowled at Bradley for about 20 years now. Some years better than others and you can definitely see when there are changes in the staff that is taking care of the lanes. Lately, they have made that a big part of their efforts. They bought a new oiler (that they are learning to use) and have made an effort to get some training for the staff that operates it. I am thinking that this may be the year that they get it all together. I hope it is because we are losing league members left and right and I would hate to see this house get closed down. It would be nice to see it as busy as when Red ran the place and we filled the house 2 or 3 shifts every night. I think it is going to take a little bit of time for that trust to build but they seem to be headed in the right direction.
By the way, if anyone is interested in joining a Friday night league, The Elm Street league is looking for males and females to fill 11 slots. We have a good time and there is just enough competition to keep things interesting.
Take care all and good bowling.

well this goes out to all the people who think that blue fox rock and bowl is so great, well its not because like pam (12/27/2005)said they oil only every 2 weeks and your equipment gets chewed up by the lanes which s*cks when bowling balls are 200.00 dollars each. Oh yeah to all the parents who think that the staff and dj are so great there well just to let you in on a secret do you know why the old dj there got fired well i do because i used to bowl there all the time. He got fired for playing games with the young girls there like {deleted}. If you think I am lying go the the police station in simsbury and im sure they would know all about that.

First off, you have to be hired. Then afterwards, if you get hired, you will have to follow the BNE rules. If you do not follow their rules, you will be interviewing for another job real quick. Plus, I was not aware they were even looking for a center manager. Who is leaving ?

This I got to see.I’d been hearing that from the last 15 yrs or so.Seeing is believeing. These people who call themselves managers, dont last too long.I hear it from AMF,Brunswick.and now BNE.Bowling centers come & go all the time. We’ll see.

Good afternoon,
I have read all the complaints below and be sure that they will be heavily considered. I’m in the process of interviewing for the Center Manager position at Bradley Bowl and will attempt to address the concerns I’ve read. League bowlers are important to any center, you are the “guaranteed money” for the house. You should be catered to and taken care of. However, keep in mind that your league is only there for 2-3 hous a week while the outside customers make up the 90+ hours the center is open. We’re now in 2008, gas prices are highly increased and families are looking for one-stop-shop’s. Entertainment, safety, food and close to home. Local bowling centers are now Family Entertainment Centers. While I can’t promise a “tube” will be put out there before you leagues, especially on Wednesdays. I can tell you that Bradley Bowl will start to do the small things again. Sweeping the sittee areas before the league starts. Removing all garbage from the tables. Sweeping the approaches, putting freshly sharpened pencils on the scoring machine. I’d also like to get with the times. Create a Bradley Bowl website. Have all league sheets available on-line for your viewing. Discounted practice time, discounts at the snack bar, etc. We’ll see. Hopefully by the time leagues start this fall you’ll see a new face in the center and drastic changes for you, the bowlers! Have a nice summer.

As regards oiling. They also do the lanes on Thursday night around 11pm. This is all the oil the folks on the Friday afternoon and night leagues get too.
The oil pattern we have dubbed the “Valdez”. Sort of a dump and run system. After failing the first PBA certification maybe they will now find out what a real oil pattern should be. Long overdue!!!

I can see why everyone is coming down hard hard on Bradley Bowl. This is the second night (a Wednesday night) in a row that I say the them conditioning the lanes / oiling the lanes / buffing the lanes. For the next day leagues. Is the guy to lazy to get up in the morning to do this on the lanes. So the lanes will sit about 10 – 12 hours before the next league bowls on them. It is sad that I saw this happen. Does this happen every night? Is that why the lanes are is such bad shape (condition) when we get on them. 🙂

Comment Date: 3/31/2008 Name: Andrew Villani
Of course your ball can make that high of an angled turn. There is NO oil on the end of the lane. From (on average) 40 feet and on the lanes are buffed. Not oiled. If there were no oil on the lanes, your ball would be making that little 90 degree angle you speak of a lot sooner than 50 feet down the lane. Start making sense.

To all the bowlers, who’ve been bowling here @ BB,you should be grateful,AMF doesnt own both BB and Vernon.Back in 2004,when Mrs Jarvis passed away, there was 3 companies interested in both.AMF,Brunswick, and Bowl New England.BNE eneded up taking over both.I didnt see any private owner(s),showing interest what soever. So stop saying they show charge this,or do this or that.If you think it’s easy to own/operate a bowling center, talk to Fred Callahan at Bowl A Rama.

Comment Date: 3/21/2008 Name: Ed Mele
I have a better question. If you are going to try and make a point in these message boards, why not use your real name? It brings credibility to your opinions. I agree that the price of bowling has gone too high. $5.00 per game is a joke. The center would be packed at $1.00 a game making more money than they are at 5. It is embarrassing that there can be open bowling during leagues.Every lane should be full with league bowlers.

Comment Date: 3/20/2008 Name: A Bowler at bradley bowl
Can I ask a question to everyone why is that every league has the number of teams have been going down over the years. When my father bowled he told me that they used to do everything to keep the bowlers in the leagues not the open bowlers. If Bradley Bowl and the rest of the bowling center wake up and lower the prices they charge for the league bowlers they would see how many bowlers would come back and on more than one league. I am sad to see and hear that how many bowlers and how many lane each league took up 10 or so years ago. And by the way what is up with the guy that wears those weird shirts.

I am going to open up the new bowling center.I am only going to cater to Wednesday night bowlers. After they bowl their first ball we are going to re-oil the lanes for their second shot. We will apoligize if they have to throw a second ball because wednesday night bowlers should get a strike every time, and if they don’t, it can’t be their fault. It must be the bowling alley’s. Also, we are adding free cheese to go with all the wednesday night whine. And lastly, every bowler will automatically get a 299 game every time..We would give you a 300 game but then how could you complain that it is someone elses fault. The only problem we feel we are going to have is to get you to come to our new lanes.. Because that would mean you would actually have to make an adjustment to where you bowl..And we all know you can’t adjust to to anything..Here’s hoping…

To Wed.night bowler, for years,I’ve heard about new centers supposely opening around CT.Dont start spreading rumors until you definitely are positive and have proof,a new house will open.If you think its easy 2 run a bowling center, apply to bne and lets see if you can do a better job, making a salary and get no overtime.General Managers are hard to find, like mechanics, with experience.Better yet,get a loan from a bank and own/operate one.

In all the discussion about the shot being illegal, did you ever think that you might have to change your shot to move with the shot? I mean do you see pros every week playing the same exact part of the lanes week in and week out? I don’t think so, if they did they wouldn’t score as well either, but the big difference is that you typical house bowlers want the shot catered to where you play. With all the new equipment out, why not try to buy a new ball. STop using balls from 2000. I mean didn’t an ebonite turbo go out of style a while back? Ball companies come out with different balls every month. I know everything is expensive but even a new ball that recently came out will help your average improve. For the guy who said he averaged 220’s four years ago and now averages 200, its called your PLAYING THE WRONG PART OF THE LANE, TRY MOVING, YOU WILL SEE IMPROVEMENT, AND SINCE YOUR SUCH A GOOD BOWLER, WHY DON’T YOU TEACH THESE OTHER CRYBABIES HOW TO MOVE THERE FEET AND THEIR LINE.

Comment Date: 2/23/2008 Name: Greg
I recently bowled at Bradley and I had a nice shot, it was on a wednesday night after the leagues. I am not a great bowler but I averaged 210 for the 4 games I bowled. I didn’t see my ball making a 90 degree turn off the gutter like Wednesday Bowler said it does. I was using Storm Fired Up and it read the lanes nicely. When I found my ball hooking to much I played in and still scored decent. I am pretty unsure why you guys can’t move and find a line. There is always a line, you just gotta find it. Just Shutup and bowl.

Comment Date: 2/23/2008 Name: KidNJ
First of all is you post as Wednesday bowler, how am I supposed to know who is calling me out? It would be easy money in my pocket bowling you jamokes. Instead of donating your money to me, why don’t you go buy a ball for the supposed “bad” condition at bradley.

Comment Date: 2/22/2008 Name: Wednesday bowler
Both the NJ and long island bowlers don’t know what they are talking about coming from states that put out some of the easiest house shots I have ever bowled on. By the way I have averaged between 220 and 225 the last 4 years of my life and I suddenly drop to 200 I don’t think so. Have you dumbies ever bowled at bradley on a late wednesday night league shot? Didn’t think so. When you do come talk to me. Oh ya when your ball makes a 90 degree left turn off the gutter that usually means there is nooooo oil! Duhhhhh! CAN U SAY BUMPERS!!! And thats not always a good thing.

To KidNJ,i agree, these jokers who call themselves bowlers, are too lazy to adjust to the lane conditions..saying the lanes are illegal!!!!I agree with the few, call CCBA.I know after they check the lanes, they’ll be fine.Since ball equipment changes, thats why these houses these days, are trying to stay up with the times. The machines that run on most lanes in the U.S.,are wickless. How do they work??Very simple.Theres a device that runs on a ateel rodat the end of this device,it applies oil to the roller.Just about all machines, when you push the start button,it starts oiling on board1 (rightside),it goes back and forth,,,l-r-l-r-l-r,until oiling is finished.Dont believe me,call kegel, they’ll tell you the same thing.Oh by the way, this device in these machines, when its not applying oil,it sits around 1st arrow on the rightside.programming isnt easy.It takes quite a while to get the machine to do what you want it to do.The stripping is pumped thru 4 spryers in front of the lane machine.Every so many seconds,it sprays the cleaner, the oil is the same way except,it pumps so many seconds too.If the oil is too thick, forget about any oil(period). These new type machines must be kept clean,or a malfunction will occur. From what I’m reading so far,you jokers,no way, take a vacation.Unless you’ve been to lane maintenance school for this new type lane machine equipment, take all your strike-in-a-box balls and throw them in the dumpster.Better yet,get a bunch of guys together and buy or build your own bowling center.Make sure its not around me.

Comment Date: 2/21/2008 Name: KidNJ
Is it just me or do the Wednesday night house professionals cry alot. They aren’t striking so they are complaining. You had it made last year when Bradley put out a cake shot and honor scores were through the roof. The shot Bradley has out now seperates the decent bowlers who actually can carry a decent average and those who got lucky and actually stink but because of the cake shot they had a year of a lifetime. Half the bowlers in the wednesday commercial league should never have averaged as high as they did last year. I said half and it doesn’t mean all. Im not mentioning any names cause then this weill turn into a big arguement. Those bowlers who had the one year of luck can be described as pretenders. They bowl their one night a week league and expect to be as good as the guy who bowls 2 leagues and practices on the side. Bowling isn’t about honor scores, just like any other sport it takes practice and dedication. Instead of bowling league and going home to complain about it why don’t you practice. If your so worried about the shot and if you don’t have the right equipment for it, why don’t you put some dedication into the sport and buy another ball or something. Lanes change, equipment changes, now all the bowler has to do is change and adapt. Why don’t you all just stop complaining about the shot like little babies and be men and step up. You get what you get, its not like you pay a fee to have the lanes nice and walled up for you. It’s also sad that the junior bowlers are averaging the best in the house and they bowl on the same shot. Look at all the banners juniors put up, how come they are getting the scores. Juniors are just plainly better than the adults so far this year. Even those who have gone adult early still manage the good scores, so its not the shot that makes the bowler score, its the bowler. Ever since coming up, I haven’t ever heard so much complaining about the shot. The shot on Saturday mornings was alot harder than the shot these adults get at night. It just makes no sense to me why these adults sit here and complain day in and day out about the shot being illegal and so on. Like I said before just because the cake shot make you a fluke, a one time wonder, and a pretender don’t take it to heart that you actually are no good. Please all of you complaing do us all a favor and try another sport or something because when the rest of my friends become adults you guys will be blown away.

to the last comment, that person seems to know a lot more than you.bad news.you can speed up these new computerized machines to go faster, the machines in todays times are wickless.thats how the lane machines from kegel are made,WICKLESS!!!!if the machine goes too fast,it’ll put down almost no oil.dont believe me???call kegel yourselves.the only time i want a machine to speed up is in reverse after stripping, then oil normal speed.unless you been to the kegel plant in florida, you dont have a rats butt, what any of you are talking about!!!!maybe it’s time to go back to old school of lane conditioning.strip once of a week, strip back ends once a week.oil 40 to 45ft,gutter to gutter.the oil bradley bowl is using is probably recommened for the machine type they’re using.better yet,buy bb from bne and you can do whatever you want..the 3 units of oil rule been in existence for over 10 yrs.like the other person said,IF YOU BELIEVE THE LANES ARE ILLEGAL AT BB,CALL CCBA AND THEY’LL SEND SOMEONE DOWN TO CHECK THEM.

For who ever wrote that last comment. You have no clue what you r talking about. I bowled earlier this year and the lanes where definitly illegal and still are by the time you get to that league. I used to work in a bowling allies also and I also did the oiling. The machine can be programmed to go quicker and also put more oil down at the same time. Its that the place doesnt want to spend more money on oil to keep the later leagues happy. You just need to flood the first 37 feet and givge the bowlers some backend. This way when the lanes do break down there will just be some carry down instead of the lanes turning to toast. Ive bowled on that type of pattern and it will work best for everyone in all the leagues. Please listen to me.

2 that Wed. night bowler,if you or anyone thinks the lanes @ bb are illegal, call CCBA.Remember,USBC lane oiling rule.min.3 units on the lanes, edge to edge. It’s been like that over 10 yrs. What happened you forgot about it????I worked at a center on Long Island, and guess what???We also did the lanes in the morning, because it takes a while for a slow moving machine to do the lanes. If the lane machine goes too fast, you’ll definitely get no oil.To strip & oil 44 lanes @ 3pm,you gotta be kidding me.If you have any doubts about the lane conditioning rules, call USBC yourselves!!!!!I dont make these strike in a box bowling balls,or the lane machines. The house I worked at Long Island was a 48 lane center. We had synthetic lanes, and leagues during the day too.The oil stayed were we put it(period)…

I just got done bowling on lane conditions that I thought that could not get any worse than they already are. Where is the oil? I would love to have someone come and check the lane conditions to see if it is a legal pattern out on the lanes at that time. They probably don’t have a legal pattern when they oil in the first place. I heard that they (Bradley Bowl) oils at around 10 a.m. and doesn’t oil again until the next day. You can’t expect the oil to last for 5 to 6 leagues. I have bowled in houses that reoil inbetween every league. I don’t ask that from bradley bowl but why not reoil after the 3 league to give the last league of the night some oil. I have also heard from alot of the members that they will quit this league and go somewhere else. I have also heard of the whole league moving to another bowling alley. 🙂

So doesnt every one elses ball when we try to play inside of first arrow. Hey, I bowled nebas that have put sanctioned sport shots out that are easier than this shot is. Why do I even waste my time talking to you guys, youll read this and say I some kind of liar and dont know what the heck im talkn about. So I will say this again, bring holota back to put in at least one good house shot for the rest of the year. Just maybe you will have some teams that return next year. Since most of the leagues in the house are shrinking by the season.

Hey..”another night bowler”…I never condemned or praised the lane conditiond at BB. If you can comprehend the English Language, all I ststed was the sanctioning body does not do any tape readings as they USED to do. They are only required to take ONE reading, and that is usually on the time area of the yearly certification inspection. I have no clue as to why you thought I was bad mouthing the lane conditions at this, or any other center. I just responded to a comment that someone suggested a tape reading be done because HE or SHE, THINKS the lanes are not in compliance. So, blow off your steam at someone else. People like YOU are the trouble makers that make bowlers start to wonder why there is such turmoil in the industry. Next time, respond to comments after you have properly read them, and format the answer to the actual discussion/topic. If you like the conditions @ BB,more power to you, I wish you many good games, and don’t attack me, as i never posted a negative comment regarding such. I was only quoting a new lane tape criteria that took effect for this season, which is less service from USBC, as the sanction rates continue to swell.

Well funny your not to funny but just to let you know that i dont think that i am nasty i know that i am nasty. If you dont think so bring your {deleted} to the bowling alley wednesday night and lets see how good you are. and by the way why worry so much about what i shot, 750 aint good enough for you why dont you post some of your scores. Oh wait thats right i dont play badmiton all the time like you do so i would not know how the scores work in that. Oh by the way i guess you must be to stupid to realize that a 217 average is higher than a 214 dur dur. Well also if you read my last entry i did not talk any crap about mike actually i know and like mike alot so i dont know where you got your information from maybe we should send you back to 2nd grade to learn how to read.

to you ozio, whatever your name is,i’m tired of guys like you who complain every year about lane conditions.you and a few other cry babies should build your own center,& call it c.b.lanes!cry baby lanes.as far as usbc a.k.a abc, this has been going on with lane inspections for yrs.if you think the lanes @ bb are illegal, call ccba, and have them check the lanes.reading what been on this site makes me want to buy violinsts.guys like you are a laughing stock.you should be on comedy central,or last comic standing.since you’re complaining, might as well get paid for it..if you’re that good,go on the pba tour.better yet bowl the world team challenge.a couple years ago at bb,wtc bowled there.the lane conditions, they strip each lane twice and only one pass of oil,up and back, that’s it!!!they do this every 2 squads. If you don’t like what you’re bowling on ,bowl somewhere else, buy your own center,or build your own center.also (ozio)whoever you are.i’ll give george carlin a call and i’m sure he’ll tell you what to do about complaining.he complains and gets paid for it.i know a few guys that bowl in at least 2-3 different houses.they do just fine.their average might fluncuate a couple pins here and there.but they adjust to the lanes.remember.what’s a definition of a bowler, that was told to me lots of times??.a bowler is a person,he or she, that can adjust to lane conditions, given to him or her at any given time any day of the week, good or bad.

Thats so funny that my brother could fri some one so easily! I wouldnt bowl him for money if I where you. One thing out of his mouth and you would be done, just hand over your money. I am his older brother if you where wondering. A little older and wiser. I know that I have my ups and downs and Im not a pro and never would want to be. But I do know a good house shot when I see one and bradley bowl is not putting one out! Again I will say this TO MUCH OVER/UNDER. Shawn (Regional for bowl new england)I know you must read these. Im at the lanes more than just one night a week and I know they play about the same. FLOODED all the way to about the 7th board. BONE dry 1st arrow out. I used to work at a bowling allies and I used to put a shot out similar to this until about the second league night when I got my a** chewed for changing the shot. I thought it was the best shot for the bowlers. Now that I look back on it it wasnt a very good shot. Just like the B and B shot. At least bring back Bill Holota to put a good shot out. And for you Carl, just because you put a shot in the oiling machine doesnt mean that it is in there for good. Its not locked! As long as you have the password you can change it. Well for righht now unless you guys change something I think you will be losing a league next year. If not a league at least 2 teams which means about half the leauge any ways. Oh ya by the way funny there is two bowlers higher than 214 thats my brother and Scott P. So get your eyes checked, THANKS! Last comment; {deleted}

Here we go again with a guy thinkin he is nasty at bowling. Funny how you only post your good weeks, and after shooting 290 and 299 and only shootin a mid 7oo aint all that impressive. You couldnt shoot 800 so that means the lanes were good for one game. I have seen the averages for weds and no one is averaging 214+ so keep making up averages, really if it makes you feel good about yourself then do it. I do agree the weds night league is full of jokes who think they are actually good. Juniors on saturday are having better scores than adult bowlers, what does that tell you. And why are you talking so much garbage about taking money and puttin it in yours. What accomplishments have you done, least Mike has accomplished more in his life than you will ever. All you are is a HOUSE BOWLER, so just shut up and bowl your house ball league.

Bowl New England do NOT want tournaments. To them bowling is NOT a sport. They threw them all out with their rediculous price for lineage. They prefer bithday parties and open bowling. My opinion, Bowl New England is extremely BAD for bowling.

Comment Date: 10/18/2007 Name: wednesday bowlers brother
first of all i just have to say that i am just plain nasty at bowling. And i have no complaints about the shot on any night EVEN WEDNESDAY. Lets see i only shot 737 and 750 with a 290 and a 299 games and you complain about what shot its to easy i think, but that just might be because i am so nasty at bowling. And i guess you were right about the pro bowlers on wednesday night because i am averaging what 220 is that not good enough for you. Maybe you should stop down on wednesday some night and i will take some of your money because you know it will look better in my pocket anyway. I would hate to see you bowl on a tough shot because you would just make a** of yourself because you would shoot a 120 game. because if you are an actual good bowler you would be able to move and adjust to the shot when need be. And you cant come on here and complain about the shot here because i have seen some people bowl here that just plain s*ck and they shoot 240 and 250 games when they really should be playing badmiton or something like that where you can s*ck and you wont get made fun of like i am doing to all you people right know. But instead you come on here and try to talk {deleted} about BB and other bowlers that you know you cant even beat. Which is stupid because you might get beat for talking to much crap out of your a**. And for mike he aint washed up he is just left handed, and he cant help that. mike is a great guy great bowler and he has a great pro shop. So dont come on here and try to talk crap about someone you cant beat in bowling meaning MIKE AND I.

The shot seems to be decent, not as good as in other houses but decent. How come there are no tournaments there rarely. Didn’t NEBA go there and now I don’t see them on the schedule. How come?

Comment Date: 10/13/2007 Name: Ozio
USBC does not run tapes for lane conditions anymore! Just ONE, usually pre-season, so it really does not matter what ANY Center put down. USBC just wants sanction $$$. All the rules have gone out the door! And, Majors…with 25 years experience…how come you have 30 years experience on the Bowlerland comment section?? I am now calling your “expertise” in the bowling business as BS. Not everyone here is an idiot. There are some PROS in the industry reading these things! I was at BB as requested from Shaun M. from BNE on 8/21 , and I think this place will just get better. Just don’t you get a job there!

Comment Date: 10/12/2007 Name: Sport Seeker
Hey Carl. Still looking for that sport league or PBA Experience. I have tried it in other houses and had a blast. Do I have to continue to look in other houses or will I be able to stay in yours? Even a shortened season league for 13 or 14 weeks would be cool.

Comment Date: 10/12/2007 Name: Elm Street and former Wednesday Night Bowler
Your both right. The shot changes from day to day in that house since the new ownership took over. The over/under this year has been terrible. If you shoot around 10-12 it is fine at first but breaks down quickly and you are forced to move before the end of the first game, outside of 8 is very aggressive and inside around 15 is oily as heck. The worst part is that on many occassions it is not the same on the left lane as it is on the right. Last week, I found my best game was to play tight in at 15 on one lane with a strong ball and swing 10 to 6 on the other with a weak ball. This method finally awarded me a 6 bagger to cap off in the 230’s for a low 600 series for the night after fighting the shot all night. The lanes have been similar throughout the week and the scores have not been all that great on any night. The good bowlers now have to prove their skills in adjusting to the conditions. I don’t believe in the house putting out a scoring shot because that doesn’t help anyone become a better bowler. The more the house mixes it up and forces bowlers to adjust, the better the bowler will be in the long run. If every house put out the “optimal” shot, yes scoring would improve but would the actual bowler?

Comment Date: 10/9/2007 Name: Wednesday bowler
Thats funny that you only bowl one night a week elm street package store bowler. I guess you dont know how the lanes play from night to night. When you have to start the night out around third arrow and end up around the fourth arrow by the end of the night that kind of s*cks. Not because im a bad bowler and dont like to play that far inside its just I dont pay money every week to bowl on a shot that is similar to how the parking lot would play! Also the averages on wednesday are all down compared to last year. Not one week has even been close to a good shot. To much over/under. And for any jona out there that doesnt know what that means, it is when the middle is flooded and the outsides are bone dry. Please B and B try to taper the shot a little better. I used to work for a bowling center and I oiled the lanes and I could put out a better shot then there has been. I doubt if usbc came out after some one ever did shoot an honor score on wednesday the shot would not be legal!

Comment Date: 10/7/2007 Name: Friday Night Elm Street Package League Bowler
I have to say the shot was great for the first 3 weeks of league everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, but this past friday the lanes were horrible. I just want to know why you have to change the shot. I heard that people on wednesday nights were complaing so why cant you put a different shot to satisfy them. As far as I know no one was complaining about the shot on fridays and now we have a different shot. Just because the guys on wednesday nights cant hit a 210 average when they really should be averaging about 190 it s*cks that us bowlers who bowl one league on fridays have to get the same shot as the pros on wednesdays. Its not fair I dont think, and I know Im not the only one who feels this way.

I would like to see the proshop open for a couple of hours on sundays. I would like to see better seating. I have been bowling at bradley for about 20 years and I haven’t had any major problems. It would be nice to have a bathroom on both ends of the house because I coach on saturdays for the kids and takes a long time for them to walk all the way to the other end. Maybe they should put the little kids next to the bathrooms. I also think that the other coaches should start coming down to the little kids with me and help the ones that need help. the big kids don’t need as much help anymore.

As for the staff I dont blame them becuz on friday nights some of the children there are little devils and if they were mine they would get a swift kick in the *ss. hello like morgan like do you know how many times you said like in 2 sentences? and as a bowler i have to say that it is very annoying to me to try to bowl when there are disty barbie dolls that are 18 and bowling with bumpers on the lane next to me. I agree we need to separate the lanes, one side actually where bowlers can do what they are paying for professionally and another half where bowlers like yourself can like bowl and like not even like care what you are throwing. if you like want to like socialize and look stupid than like go somewhere else not to Bradley bowl where 90% of our bowlers are there to bowl seriously. like you are a waste of time.

Comment Date: 11/25/2006 Name: morgan
hi, could you maybe have lik,e different sectioned lanes for certain bowlers who are more proffesional and experianced and who like, want to play by the rules? I’m not a very experianced bowler and i went to your bowling alley to play and i have only bowled like, twice in my life and i don’t really know the rules and when i went there the other night with my friends and the guy in the lane next to ours started yelling at me becuase he siad i wasn’t having proper bowling alley respect. apperently, there is such a thing as bowling alley manners and i didn’t have them. when i went up to bowl, the man accused me of crowding his space and was all like “EXCUSE ME!” “don’t you know the rules?! your not supposed to be up bowling when the other lane has someone up bowling! I was here first, and you need to wait your turn! i’m just trying to bowl here!” so, yea, I was just having a little fun with my friends and it was only my second time actually bowling and after the man yelled at us we left the alley becuase he made us feel stupid and he was kind of mad at us. so, basically, i was just thinking that maybe you could separate the alleys or just put up like, reminders just so that nobody ruins another persons game b/c they didn’t know the rules. or you could have specific hours for different age groups or levels. thanx.

92% of bollers kant spell. They can brag, complain, cry about conditions and spend the rent money for new balls that can do everything but talk to you. The game is not fun anymore…just depressing. Everyone wants to be the top dog. Strange..this stuff goes on in EVERY Center. Get a grip on life and enjoy it!

Comment Date: 11/22/2006 Name: KATHI
Is there no bowler on this site with decent spelling ability??? You may all be fantastic bowlers, but really folks there is more to life than bowling. Education should rank up around #1.
Mike and Norm are doing a great job at the pro shop. Norm has obviously learned his job well over the past several years. My daughter has no complaints with any of the half dozen or so bowling balls he has drilled for her.
Dirk Ridley is a terrific coach and great ball driller. There is probably no one else in the area as knowledgable as he. He was and still is my daughter’s coach. (She is a certified Bronze Level coach, coaching at Bradley.) He left Bradley under his own volition to open his own shop at Amity. He is now also at S. Windsor.
The center’s staff has had to make big adjustments from “old time” lax ownership to BNE management. I think they have done an admirable job under less than ideal conditions.

This is supposed to be a website where you can talk about the bowling alley. It is not meant for people to come on and verbally attack another. The person or should I say kid should stop and acknowledge what Mike has done for the sport. Many doors have been open by him for future aspiring bowlers. I still do not know why anyone would want to trash his reputation. The only reason I see someone doing this is because they are so jealous of Mike. He does not go around bragging of his accomplishments nor does he complain. He keeps it to himself. Andy Cain keep your mouth shut, what titles or tournaments have you won that have been so big. You couldn’t even make a legitimate run at a neba title.

I recently stumbled on to this site and I have never been so disgusted in my life. All these comments about Mike Lichstein and his pro shop are rediculous. Mike has everything a bowler could need. If he doesnt have it there, he will have it in a day or two. Try sitting down and talking to the guy for a minute. Not only is probably the best amatuer bowler around, he also one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Also to call him washed up?? ARE YOU OK?? Mike has more talent in his classic mullet than all of you house bowlers have in your entire body!!! (BRING IT BACK MOP!!!) I’ve made numerous amounts of purchases at the pro shop and have bowled numerous times with Mike. Sorry but there is nobody better!! Keep on Rockin Mike!! Lefties rule!! Also all these comments of the lane conditions? Learn to adjust rookies!!!! I’ve bowled at Bradley my entire life and never had a problem. “WAH!!! THERE’S NO OIL!!” THEN MOVE!!! Go spend some money at the pro shop and get a ball that best suits your game!! If anyone has problems with scoring at Bradley Bowl
I am available for lessons m-f on lanes 1-44.

I feel bad about the negative comments some of you have written about me and Litchco’s. As for being washed up and having a washed up pro shop, i’m a little confused. We always try to stock all of the hottest brands of equipment. Brunswick, Columbia, Ebonite, Hammer, Storm, etc. etc. If you are not happy with your fit or ball reaction we back our work 100%, and will work with you untill you are 100% satisfied. As for Bowl New England chasing out Dirk Ridley, that’s not the case either. Dirk left Litchco’s on good terms to run his own pro shop’s. Something Dirk has wanted to do for many years. AND FOR MIKE LICHSTEIN BEING WASHED UP…WELL ANYTIME YOU LIKE TO FIND OUT JUST HOW WASHED UP I AM, “PLEASE CALL LITCHCO’S @ 627-0353 AND WE CAN ARRANGE A NICE LITTLE MATCH ANYWHERE. Good luck and good bowling!!!

I know Bradley has made some changes that people aren’t happy about but, they are trying to keep up. If all you have to do is complain then go bowl somewhere else. I have never had any problems and I have bowled there since I was like 12(I’m 27 now). That was a very good message you wrote about yourself while trying to sound like someone else. Try re-reading it. Sorry they didn’t give you a raise.. maybe you didn’t deserve it. I too have bowled for over 20 years, and the one thing i’ve noticed is things change just like the lanes themselves. Those who don’t like change whine and moan, and always blame someone else.I too liked Dirk and was sad to see him go. But let’s all remember, things are alot better than they were a year ago, and it seems the management is listening to the bowlers when they offer suggestions. Not yell and whine. Give it a chance. I have bowling at Bradley for about 26 years. It was great until Bowl New England took over and gave the shaft to Mike Liappes, one of the mechanics. He knows his stuff and they were unwilling to give me a decent raise. He helped in the pro shop also. When they got rid of Dirk Ridley, Mike left also because of the crap they were doing to Dirk. Now Dirk has opened in own shop at South Windsor Ten Pin. I will go out of my way to go see Dirk before i spend any of my hard earned money with Mike Litchstein. The front desk people are horrible. I called one day to see what time the $1.50 special started and the woman was very nasty to me..like i was putting her out of her way. And Marily Digam has the worst personality. Dont know how she has her job working with kids. I can see why Lindy Tekaz left..because of Marilyn. The food at the snack bar looks good on the menu but looks nothing like the picture. I would not eat something that has been touched by the gross young kid that puts everything into his mouth then touches my food. HOW GROSSS!!!

At the snack bar the people behind were eating as they were cooking. This is the most disgusting thing i have ever seen, just think what happens when you’re not looking.Close this place down untill you can get in a real professional staff not a bunch of mcdonalds rejects.

I have been bowling at Bradley on and off for many years. People at the counter have always been helpful and friendly until recently. I was there a few weeks ago and both women behind the counter were arguing with each other other a telephone call and how one of them handled it. They totally ignored me for several minutes. There appears to be alot of tension among the workers. You are there for the customer and your employees need to be reminded of that.

If this is a bowling post why is there all this crap. I have just joined 2 leagues in this house and I thought you people were a litle nicer than Westchester,NY bowlers. I guess I will have to wait and see. I bowled in Bradley for the 1st time last Sunday and did pretty well. So bowlers can we stick to bowling talk? By the way prices here are cheap. Bowling in NY can be as high as 7.00 a game.

To “new bowler”
I bowl in the Guys & Dolls league on Sunday night at Bradley bowl.It starts at 6:00 pm and is a blast. I just joined last year and have made so many friends. You don’t have to be a great bowler either. If your aversge is 138, you’ll fit right in. I would call the alley to sign up.

New rules for bowling
Supplemental Rules for Bowling
If you holler “overs!” before the ball passes the arrows, you get to throw the ball over, unless of course, you get a strike. In which case, you can renege on the “overs”.
When your team is about 10 marks down in the 8th or 9th frame, you can invoke the rule “First Team Through Bowling Wins the Game”, and your team still has a chance.
After a member of the opposing team bowls 4 strikes in a row, he/she must bowl the next 4 frames blindfolded. If he/she continues to strike, his/her shoelaces will be tied together for 2 frames.
When you leave the 10-pin and you know you can’t make the spare, but another member of your team can, invoke the “Designated Bowler” rule.
After you have 4 splits in one game, you may say “Kings X” and take those 4 frames over. However, if you split on the 2nd time around, you accept it. After all, “Fair is Fair”.
If your ball goes in the gutter and jumps back onto the lane, knocking dow pins, by golly, you get them! That’s much harder than to knock them down the conventional way. Good bowling should be recognized.
A ball should be declared dead when you bowl 3 games without a strike. It shall be the owners privilege to decide on the disposition of said dead ball – Burial at Sea, Dropped from an airplane over a live volcano, or a simple burial in the city dump. For a small fee, a league officer can be bribed to deliver a short eulogy.

Wow! Very entertaining web-site. It has everything in it except about bowling. Ha-Ha. If you want to try bowling in a league without the long-term commitment, try a summer league. they are usually only about 10 weeks long with a very nice banquet at the end. Then you can find out if all the thing you read are true.

Get over yourself people. I work in the education business and I will tell you one thing, children today are disrespectful and rude. although their parents are at fault, the staff at the alley should not be blamed for children misbehaving. Can you tell me why people bring their children ( ages weeks old to 10 yrs old) to the alley until 10:00 at night. Maybe your children would do better in school if they got a better night sleep.
It’s funny how I never seem to have a problem with the staff at Bradley, but then again I treat them with respect. Try it sometime, say ” hello” ” thank you” and ” how is your day going” you might be surprised how nice the people at the center can be.
I have been bowling at the center for 10 years and in that time I have never been treated less than I treated them.

Comment Date: 3/1/2006 Name: Anonymous
People wonder why prices are always going up. It’s because when there is a loss in sales the cost needs to be passed on to the customer. Employee theft is the number one reason so many buisness out there have a loss prevention department not so much the customer stealing it is the employees they watch the most, and it is the employee that is caught the most. So when you are drinking your free beer on Linda just remember she stole and now you just did by not paying. And when the price goes up you have a part in the blame game.

Comment Date: 2/28/2006 Name: Weds
Referring to the 2/9/2006 post talking about how the staff doesn’t keep the leagues away from the one bowling. I bet you’re the league at 4 or 5pm that always takes 3 hours to bowl league and makes the other leagues wait for you to finish. Hate to tell you but you guys s*ck and aren’t bowlers. You need to bowl faster so real bowlers can get onto the lanes. Bowling is a competitive sport and not a coffee shop, so more bowling and less sitting around and talking. Thats why you guys never get out of there on time because you always talk too much and can’t throw strikes to make up time. Join a morning league, maybe then you’ll be done in time for the 7pm league to actually start on time. There is a Starbucks down the street, instead of wasting everyone’s time, go there and do everyone a favor.

I agree in part with the message from 2/4/06. The people at the front desk had this new computer system thrown at them in one week with no manual to guide them. If you bowled last year, you know how horrible it was when the computers first went in. And, of course, that would make anyone “grumpy” when they are getting the blame for everything. They are only doing what the “big bosses” in Vermont tell them to do. As far as the kids are concerned, the game room was built FOR kids to use. Kids make noise and messes and have fun. That’s called being a kid. While parents should monitor their children,(and most do), the front desk people should remember that’s why the game room was built. If you didn’t want kids to play, don’t give them a GAME room. Just lighten up a little. If we the bowlers have to deal with it, then the employees most definately have to as well.

In response to the person who is not getting that extra shot in their drink, maybe if you tipped once in a while, you might actually get that extra shot. Then again, maybe the bartender realized you didn’t need an extra shot.

This is to all the people who posted comments about problems with the staff at Bradley Bowl. I personally know many of the people who work there and some of them are family members. My grandfather has worked there for over 40 years and you say he should be replaced?? He may be grumpy a lot but it is not because that’s the type of person he is. With the new management everything is harder and the customers don’t help it either. Half of the people that come in are rude and disrespectful. Also, you say they are mean to the children? Well the children’s parents/guardians should be reprimanding them. The only time I have seen anyone yell at children is after they have repeatedly done something after asked nicely to stop, such as running up and down the alley and playing in the bar. One other thing, you say they yell at the kids for asking for their money back? Well half the time they mess up the machine by themselves.

Bradley Bowl isn’t too bad, but I agree that the prices are way too high. By the time I pay for shoes for a family of 5, pay for 2 games of bowling for each of us…we could’ve purchased a season’s pass at Six Flags! The birthday parties were good years ago, but not since the new management took over. The place looks nice and the food is good, and I haven’t had too much trouble w/ the mgmt being rude. They need to have more specials (i.e. 1.50 bowling, family specials, etc.)

To all the bowlers out there who complains about bowling “lane conditions” answer this question as well. A guy who bowls on a Monday and Friday night league carries 1 6 ball bag and ends up with a house ball by the end of the night. If he is such a pro at this sport lugging six good balls around wouldn’t he know which balls of his are good for that night? Face it, all you complainers are jealous of Budd Muska who can shoot 8 300’s in his life and Michael Lichstein who shoots 300 in practice. Give it up. Go to Vernon, go to Shaker and this new Rock Bowl place and you will still s*ck. Take lessons from them GOD stop wasting time on here complaining.

How come some bowlers get an extra shot of liquor in their drinks and don’t pay for it? I am at the bar once a week and the bartender Linda gives extra shots to some people, I pay the same amount as everyone else for a drink so don’t give free shots when people are watching. I guess the shot meter doesn’t work or she would not be stealing from the bowling center.

For all of those wishing to go to BLue Fox, after a game you will need to go to a pro shop because your ball gets beat up by the lanes, they also oil once every 2 weeks so the shot is horrible. Don’t go to Blue Fox, it should be called boondocks.

People who read this please answer these questions. 1) Why do bowlers who average 150 complain about the shot when they throw a straight ball and own one plastic ball? 2) Urethane is a non reactive ball so why does a guy on a Wednesday night league at Bradley always complain because his urethane isn’t working? 3) People who bring 8 balls to league and still complain aren’t bowlers but whiners, why is that?

Interesting comments. We all have our gripes/complaints and nothing will ever be perfect for each individual…but Bradley Bowl has been functioning for many many years and some of the same people are still working there and bowling there. Ever wonder why it has the money to do renovations and improve the customer experience? It’s successful…why? It does things right for the majority of the population. People in, people out…it’s the nature of business. Clients in, clients out…managers in, managers out. The bowling world must change as the world changes. What is the average tenure of a bowling alley manager?? Who knows, but change is good…for the alley, and even for those who got let go. They will take their talents elsewhere and probably realize their worth in salary is higher than what they were getting paid at Bradley Bowl. Bradley Bowl is changing…South Windsor Ten Pin and other run-down bowling alleys are not. Those are the ones that will not survive. In another year or two, once the transition is complete, you will want to take back your comments and return to Bradley Bowl for a great bowling exprience. If not, take your kids to Six Flags for $50 each.

Wish I could take my last post down…
My daughter had her 8th birthday party at Bradley Bowl this past Saturday. Our party was scheduled from 2:00-4:00. Since we had 15 kids coming, we got there around 1:45 to setup. Thought we would put out some snacks, drinks, the cake, etc… When we arrived we stood in the corner holding everything until about 2:15. I then went to the desk to ask where we should put our stuff. We were told that we were suppose to be bowling the first hour and half and that’s why there wasn’t any room. So I asked exactly where we were suppose to put presents, the cake, the coats for about 20 people and the only response I received was “I don’t know”. This is how the management treated a guy who’s been doing there weekly for the past 20+ years. I’ve never been so pissed in my life. So I took matters into my own hands. Setup a table, grabbed chairs (which I was then yelled at for by some 15 year old kid). At about 2:45 another kid finally helped up. Went and got a table cloth, plates, cups, napkins, etc… you know all the stuff you’re paying for and suppose to receive. The kids ended up having a great time bowling but I WILL NEVER, NEVER recommend having your party at Bradley Bowl and I will be very hesitant to bowl in another league there and give them another dime of my money.

Let’s take a look at the issues at Bradley,
1, They don’t oil the lanes for this league, I come early and never see the lane machine out. 2, Carl Barnes fired the best bowler in CT. that worked at the front desk (Mike Litchstein). 3, Carl Barnes is a non bowler. 4, Carl Barnes was a bartender for many years and didn’t bowl then either. This is a big problem when you have a bartender running a bowling center!!

I’ve been bowling competitively for 25 years. While I don’t agree with all the changes they’ve made to Bradley Bowl, you can’t blame the owners. It’s a business and they’re trying to make money. The bright lights, games and loud noises attract kids, which attract their parents to pay for them. As a matter of fact, my daughter is having her birthday party there this weekend. As for Lichstein and the proshop, you will NOT find a more knowledgable guy about bowling. Mike will not steer you wrong and make you purchase a $280 ball if your game is suited for a $60 Viz A ball. Mike is probably the best amateur bowler in New England and still has a very level head and is loyal to his customers. You guys obviously haven’t been to S.W. Ten Pin, Skytop or Simsbury. If you did, you would think Bradley is the best, cleanest, biggest center in CT. Just shut up and bowl!

Comment Date: 11/13/2005 Name: Uncrew
Pretty funny, whoever stated that they were Carl Barnes, the center manager, must have no time on their hands. If anyone on this board believes that the comment made by “Carl Barnes” was authentic, think again. First off, if any league is upset, they will have a chance to meet with management, bowling alleys are never not invited back. And the concept of an IMAX, dude, that’s pretty amazing, considering the fact for width, that would take lanes 1-20, and height, impossible with the airport right there. Try and use that one on Vernon, maybe it may make a lil sense there, but make sure you change your name, can’t be the same guy twice, can you?

Comment Date: 11/9/2005 Name: Carl Barnes
As the center manager I can tell you this, all the leagues that are not happy here will be asked not to come back when your contract is over. I can also tell you all the staff will be replaced with a new younger staff. I will let you in on this the owners’ are selling me this center and it will be a place for kids to come with games, batting cages, and the bar will be a juice bar, no more beer ever. The locker area will become an Imax theater with loud effects that a younger crowd will love. And finally we will be loosing 20 lanes and that space will become an indoor race track. I hope you will love my new center in late 2006.

Comment Date: 11/8/2005 Name: Uncrew
Ladies and Gentleman, when looking at a bowling center, there are a couple things one should consider:
1.) Lanes
Bradley Bowl has recently improved their lanes by installing AMF lanes. These lanes, being only three years old, have a life expectancy of 6-10 years. The old lanes were replaced after ten years. (Fact) Bradley has maintained a respectable playing surface for all.
For those of you out there who love to pick on the lanes, either being to wet (lots of oil) or dry (no oil), learn one thing, TO BOWL. Bowling is a competitive sport, and with that competitive conditions. People like to cry right before league if they have a novice bowler bowling on their lanes, “oh they are going to mess the shot up,” are you kidding. You dont hear the Patriots crying because the Rolling Stones Destroyed the Turf they are still playing on. Understand that no matter the shot on the lanes, its your ability to adjust that makes you a house bowler, or competitive bowler.
2.) Staff
People, please, do we not have anything better to do then insult bowling alley employees? If Wal-Mart had a forum, after Christmas rush, would you mock them as well? Please understand when working at a bowling center, unless you have ever done it, please think before you post. Believe it or not, bowling alley employees are very busy; making sure you can enjoy your time there. When a person approaches a desk, and wants change, it’s understandable that the attendant cannot get to you in time, and trust me when I say it is very annoying (having only 15 min of practice). But also understand how many other bowlers are around you, how many guests are at the desk, how many guests are calling the center, making sure the system is being updated with subs on that night. Making sure the lanes are running, and if not, making sure they are getting fixed. Making sure the snack bar and bar have sufficient funds, and while doing all this, making sure everyone is following the rules. Ladies and Gentleman, this happens every night of bowling, it gets very stressful, so please understand the wait at times. Now I read a comment a while ago about someone commenting on the way a desk attendant sounded on the intercom. Sighhhhhhhh, are you kidding me, when you have a group of 20-30 children, running around, playing games, bringing food into the settee, and crossing the foul line, CONSTANTLY, then yes, you do have to make sure you talk to them as children, that is what they are. Because no matter how slow, how calm, and how clear you sound (which is hard on the intercom) the children will continue to break the rules, heck, adults break the rules. So yes, for a safety standpoint, children talk for children is needed.
3.) Snack Bar
Guys, it is what it states, Snack Bar, not meal bar, not Texas Road Bar, Snack Bar. Be thankful that they have nice meals, and you know what, you dont have to eat them. You grab chips from the machine, then after you’re done bowling, you got Taco Bell, Ruby Tuesdays, Subway, heck Dunkin Donuts if you want.
4.) Price
Guess none of you have recently gone to the movies lately and paid 9.50 for a movie, and another 8.50 for drinks and popcorn. 4.50 for a game of bowling, AT THE MOST, people they have so many discounts at Bradley, that 4.50 will be the highest you ever pay. Think of it, a game of bowling, ten frames (twelve if your hitting your house shot) which will take, if you pace yourself, 30 min, 45-1 hour if with a friend. Is it really that bad? Not only is it cheaper, you get to talk with people, enjoy yourself, and not having someone kicking the back of your seat.
5.) Management
Man, I love this topic.
Listen, I have been around bowling alleys all my life, in fact to some point, bowling alleys are my life. I have been to bowling alleys in CT, MA, VA, NJ, VT, DE, NY, MI, PA, NH, FL, MD, and you know what, they were all different. Different lane patterns, different staff, different appearances, and they all had management. Now let me tell you something, out of all of these states I have bowled in, Bradley is one of three that shows dedication to bowlers. So dont get into a huff and puff because the pizza slices were too small, shame on you for not asking all of this prior to booking the party, shame on you people who complain on a bowling centers progress, unless you’re behind the doors, you dont know whats going on, trust me when I say they do all that they can for the customer, being without customers, there would be no bowling center.
On a side note, to the person who stated a comment about the pro shop owner of Bradley bowling at Silver Lanes. Listen, if you own a pro shop at a bowling alley, meaning you have all the tools there for you and everyone around you, you are going to be forced to bowl at a different center so customers arent always asking you to do work for them. And yes, Litch does bowl at AMF, and he also bowled at Shaker Bowl in Mass. Litch, who owns Litchos Pro Shop, is a competitive bowler who needs to go from center to center for different forms of competition, not because one center is better then another, they all provide a difference which any competitive bowler will tell you. And yes he does still own Litchos, and Dirk, who drilled for Mike, has opened up his own shop in Amity. Both shops are very well stocked, and very well knowledgeable.

Bradley bowl Rules! I have no idea what everyone else is complaining about. The staff is the best, oh well if your lane isn’t oiled, deal. I’ve been to many alleys all over CT and the NorthEast Bradley is by far the best. And if you use Bradley Bowl as Daycare as all you horrible parents do, seeing as you can’t deal with your horrible kids why should they. . . they need to discipline the kids more. If you kids getting yelled at I’m almost certain the kid had it coming. . . I used to bowl here when I was younger. . . and I was terrible . . . I never got yelled at though, but I should have for sure. Bradley rocks my world I love it to this day.

In a certain league, the president and the secretary bowl on the same team, each uses one ball and one only, funny how if they can’t score on the shot, they call it a sport shot. Funny how it is. There are a few of us who take this sport seriously and we buy balls for different conditions. So I am sick and tired of hearing those who own one ball and ball the occassional one league a week complain and complain. Please do us all a favor and shut up. The managers don’t need to hear complaints from house bowlers who want the shot set up so they score. Everyone throws a different line and equipment so it is impossible to find a shot to please everyone. So just take what you get and PRACTICE. PRACTICE is needed in bowling like every other sport. You don’t see baseball players complaining how the grass is cut different day after day and they are going to quit because of it. This subject of the bowling alley needing to oil or whatever is dumb. If you’re a good enough bowler, you should be able to hit any shot. Anyway spares are important to make if you want to shoot a decent score. Bowlers these days worry more about striking rather than sparing.

The person who replied under the name Monday Night Bowlers, are you trying to speak for everyone? What league do you bowl, the have a ball league that uses plastic balls? Just wondering or maybe you should practice more and stop complaining. If you’re one of those people who own more than one ball and buy a new ball for a condition and still can’t score well, you shouldn’t think you’re good enough to complain. Bowling is supposed to be tough sport and not a cake walk. It’s people like you that cause everyone frustration. Just because the shot is hard for you, a majority of bowlers like the shot so just s*ck it up and shut the mouth. Thank You.

I was here for open bowling on Saturday and went to the snack bar for a bite to eat. They have this menu so you think you’re at the Outback Steakhouse, but when you get your food it looks like it came from the trash barrel. The cook was nasty – he was eating everything he put his hands on. I’m calling the health department. This place is groooooooooss.

Here is an idea oil the lanes before league play!!! The lanes are oiled for a school fun league but not league play? If this is the case next year you’ll lose even more teams. And who is in charge it looks like a big free for all around there.

Comment Date: 10/31/2005 Name: FAT MAN
Don’t go to Bradley on a Saturday. Especially if you want to go to the pro shop or anywhere near the beginning of the center. I went there a couple of Saturdays ago and I couldn’t make it to the pro shop, seems like they put the table right in front of the shop. It’s a wonder how they do business. If you try to go by the parents, they make it seem like it’s your fault you have to go by them. Do they oil after a birthday party or any consecutive days for that matter. Need these problems addressed before you become the center to go to.

Comment Date: 10/31/2005 Name: Dickey
I bowl league every week and it would be nice to see the same house shot out every week. One week we get oil, next there is none. That’s the only complaint I have.

Comment Date: 10/19/2005 Name: Lisa
The employees are at a first grade level what do you expect? The manager maybe second grade. League manager prekindergarden. Front desk drop outs. The cost of bowling elsewhere priceless.

Comment Date: 10/14/2005 Name: 20 year league bowler
Every year it gets worse and worse, when will we get the proper bowling stats? When will the staff stop makeng excuses about the computer system? Is there any training for the staff? And to close I don’t believe the managers are top notch. This center must make about 2 million a year – you can pay for a great staff with that kind of money.

You should get rid of the short very big blond that works at the desk. Listen to her voice on the speakers when the after school childern bowl, she talks to them like they are dumb. She is the one to never to go to college and get a real job. The children are smart treat them like they are!!!!!!!

Just to respond to ballgeek, you’re right that Litchcho’s didn’t close but wrong that it moved. Litchco’s is still well run by Michael Lichstein, as it says right on this site, guess you didn’t read. But for all the confusion it was Dirk Ridley a ball driller, who left Litchco’s and opened up his own pro shop at Amity Lanes. That’s all.

I’ve been to Bradley Bowl lots of times and some of these kids do need to be yelled at if the parents can’t control them. For example the bathrooms were just painted and not an hour later kids from a birthday party scraped words and drawings all over the fresh paint. Warned and not long after that thay still did it again. I don’t agree with mistreating kids but I know they won’t yell at a kid for no reason. Parents need to take some resonsibilty for their kids and do teach them to behave in public and to respect other peoples’ property.

I was looking for the Bradly website and came across this site and glad I did. I was wondering if there was an after school bowling program this year? But after reading the comments I will not send anyone in my class to this bowling center. Last year people would say the employees would yell at the children and I didn’t believe it was this bad, But I was wrong how can you think that yelling at someone else’s child is ok for you to do? And don’t even think about putting a hand on a child. You are setting yourself up for a lawsuit. Good luck, you will be out of business in no time. The state gives classes in child development – your staff should take some of these classes.

Litchcos pro shop isn’t closed..it has just moved to Amity Lanes in New Haven. I was told that there is still a pro shop in Bradley bowl and is run by the lanes.

Everything is going up pricewise, and yet bowling is not a neccessity but it is a leisure activity. I don’t know why people are complaining about the high prices of bowling, if you don’t have the extra money don’t bowl, plain and simple. People seem to blame the managers for yelling at their kids, they do this so your kid will not get hurt bowling. They want the kid to have fun and not get hurt, some parents seem to allow their child to run around without supervision and the kids get hurt and they blame everyone else but themselves for it happening. The managers and employees who work the desk at BB do a very good job of keeping the place safe for kids.

I have the solution to Bradley bowl. Out with the old staff and in with a young fresh staff. Bowling is not about old folks and smoking anymore, So get rid of the old folks and start over fresh and young. With a new building you need new blood.

Comment Date: 9/7/2005 Name: Zartan, AMF Silver Lanes
Nice to see managers checking out this site. But the issues with Bradley is the managers. My child was yelled at by the manager so it doesn’t make sense to go the manager for a problem when they are the problem. That is why many of their bowlers are now bowling at AMF. At Silver Lanes you have the best bowling experience, for open and league bowling. And Mike in the Bradley pro shop – he bowles at AMF Silver Lanes – that tells you a lot about Bradley. All Bradley Bowl customers are welcom at AMF for the most professional bowling experience..

Comment Date: 9/4/2005 Name: Me
People Chill out! As we all see the bowling center has remodeled to better serve there customers. And in order to keep that up I think thats why the price went up. Get real people you don’t think the prices were going to stay the same forever did you? As cost of living goes up every one has to go with the flow. If you can’t pay then don’t go! $4.25 a game to me isn’t bad. You go to bowl, Chill out for a few, you’re in no hurry so take your time to bowl, spend some time with the family, put some money in the Juke box and there you go! And right now as I see they have a lot of good deals going on there. Go in ask for a flyer with the different nights of fun with some great prices. My favorite is Friday and Saturday Nite Galactic Bowling. you got your Music, Lights, DJ and of course bowling.

3 Hours of bowling for just 16.00. All you can bowl until 1:00am. What more can you ask for?

Comment Date: 9/2/2005 Name: Management
By the looks of these posts, there seems to be some unhappy people with all of the changes that have been made at Bradley Bowl. In order for anyone at the center level or corporate level to better your experience, you should contact the Manager and express your comments and concerns. The management will be willing to listen to you and hopefully rectify any issues you may have or had. If you feel the problem was not handled to your liking, Bradley Bowl has a district manager who has an office right in Bradley Bowl. If you address your concerns with either one of them, the issues can, at a minimum, be responded to if not solved. We have spent a considerable amount of money to enhance the bowling experience for league and open play bowlers. We hope that if you have any issues from here out, you will let the management know so we can respond accordingly. Our goal is to make sure your experience here at Bradley Bowl is an enjoyable one. We are willing to listen, and we sincerely hope you will come to us when you have any questions or concerns. Most in house feedback has been very positive, but we can not help when we are not aware of how you feel. We are looking forward to your next visit. Also, Litchco’s Precision Pro Shop is the best pro shop in CT and by no means is leaving Bradley Bowl. We are proud to have their shop in our center. Stop in and see Mike and his staff for all your bowling needs.

Comment Date: 8/17/2005 Name: Anonymous

Just had my son’s birthday party there and when the pizza came out I was totally embarrased in front of the other parents. The kids got ONE VERY small piece of pizza, period. With fair warning I would have supplemented the pizza from a local pizza shop. Never again, and at $12.50 per kid.

I think the lanes need more oil and the leagues and staff need to be more organized and know the equipment that is in the bowling center. MOSTLY they should keep there own personal comments to themselves. Liking or disliking a person should not effect the way you treat a person while working there or otherwise.

I bowled in a league this past season, 1st time bowler. I don’t see any of the problems most people are saying about the crew who works there. Maybe the problem is with the people who are having the problem with the crew.
I enjoyed the season and am looking forward to next year (well, actually Sept, hehe)

I stopped in there on a Saturday and saw the junior league was bowling….I would never bring my kids to that league……all the people at the desk did was yell at the kids. Didn’t look fun.
I can’t see why the kids would want to come back and bowl in a organized league there……..

I went to Bradley Bowl last week and the place looked terrific. I like all the renovations. The game room looks phenomenal and my sons loved it. I had a few problems with the machines, but the staff took care of it right away. The food is much better than before. The burgers are now edible, and the cooks are very professional. Management are ok. They could be nicer to the kids. My son was too scared to talk to him because he yelled at him before. Overall, I am very pleased with my experience, and I am sure you will be too.

Comment Date: 5/18/2005 Name: C-LO
It always amazes me about all the complaining. The staff deals with rude people that can’t afford to bowl and probably should not. Why not complain about gas prices, in order to give a better experience you have to pay the price, you want them to spend millions of dollars remodeling, at the same time charge you one dollar a game, grow up. Bowl Thursdays and Sundays it cheap a buck fifty. The staff is like any other business, staff members are tired of people complaining about dumb things….. I bowl there and would go any other place… See-Ya..

Comment Date: 5/14/2005 Name: DH
The problem with the staff is when you go on busy days they take forever to get one lane, very unorganized. But the lanes are good, food is good, and the pro shop is great, I just got my ball there, and they were very helpful.

Comment Date: 5/3/2005 Name: Anonymous
Center managers should be replaced by a team of dedicated managers,Bowlers are not happy, cost to much to bowl, desk team is in no way customer service friendly. All that matters to management is the building just ask them they will tell you how good it looks, Well looks are not everything. Bowlers pay the bill did we forget this? I think so.
So,for the company who now owns Bradley bowl take a good look at the people who wear your company logo. And for the bowlers sake make changes!!!!!

Comment Date: 5/2/2005 Name: Jason
They have a new game room but if you loose your money in the game, management gets mad and takes it out on the kids. Don’t have a game room if you don’t want it used.

I am bowling in the Wednesday night summer league and am having a blast! Good group of people!

Comment Date: 2/3/2011 Name: Ronda
I know people and leagues that did a mass exodus out of this bowling alley awhile ago due to the deteriorating conditions not only in the house itself but on the lanes and the maintenance of the machines. Jan, Dan, and Matt have put a ton of money into this house to bring it back to the condition that any bowler would like to bowl on. They hired a great mechanic that has helped them turn this house around because duct tape only fixes so much but Darryl will fix it once and it will be fixed properly. Kudos to the owners and the mechanic, great job of bringing these alleys back from the brink of extinction!!!!!

Comment Date: 10/17/2010 Name: Chip
Unlike the babies that post on this site, I will sign my name. This place has a very playable and consistent lane condition. My league has very few, if any, lane break downs. Thy management is easy to work with, and the prices are fair. What else do you want? Oh I know you want to throw the ball like crap and average 230, well good luck.

Comment Date: 10/11/2010 Name: bryan
Pretty sure the owners are not giving out free beers to drum up reviews on this site.

Comment Date: 8/29/2010 Name: Mike
A free game from the owners will always get a positive opinion here! Maybe they threw in a free beer for you, also.

Bowled here in the summer and had a great experience. Lanes were very consistent and we had minimal problems with breakdowns. The pro shop guy might want to try opening once in a while but thats his business. I like this place.

I made my complaints to the owners and did not get any action taken. I have left amity bowl for another center and I am now very happy. Dude the current owners have brought this place back from the brink. I think that you have no idea. My league definitely has way fewer calls by a mile than when it was bought like five years ago. Give these guys a little credit. The previous owners let the place go and I am sure it takes a long time to get it back. jeeez.

Comment Date: 1/8/2010 Name: pinchaser
Like I said….just some negative jerk with no clue who likes to complain. Enjoy bowling.

Comment Date: 1/7/2010 Name: Anonymous
Hey pinchaser..you dont know much about pins. You say they get replaced as needed. One year, two years, or whatever. So tell me, what warrants their replacement when worn?? It’s USAGE..equals LINEAGE..equals AMOUNT OF GAMES BOWLED ON THEM. Pins do not get worn if there are no bowling balls slamming into them, or damage due to pinsetters. When you get about 20+ years under your belt (or more), then talk like you know something. Put a cleaning rag to those Jetbacks there! They were clean when I left there 18 years ago!

Comment Date: 1/6/2010 Name: former amity bowler
When I left amity bowl 3 years ago, the pins were a disgrace. There were several broken pins in every rack, the bases broke off so much that the pinsetters jammed and the remaining ones were dead. I am glad that Hamden closing gave you a reason to replace them. Now maybe you can work on the air conditioner and not just open your doors on 80 degree nights.

Comment Date: 1/6/2010 Name: Pinchaser
Weeeeell. Since you haven’t been here in three years you would’nt know what improvements have been made now would you. The owners have sunk a TON of cash into the place and they have done a very good job. You are just some jerk who likes to complain. So stereotypical of bowlers these days.

Comment Date: 1/5/2010 Name: pinchaser
Hey former amity bowler…or anonymous or whoever you are. Pins are replaced as needed. if they last two years then they are replaced. If they last three years then great. So far that has not happened. They are replaced when it is deemed necessary. Oh yeah keep up with the negativity…it seems to be the bread and butter of this site.

Comment Date: 1/1/2010 Name: Anonymous
Pins MAY last 2 to 3 seasons. It’s not a matter of time for the life of pins, but it’s the amount of LINEAGE. Some centers replace yearly, some every other year. Any center that replaces pins in in a 3 year span has some pretty low lineage.

Comment Date: 12/28/2009 Name: mr bowla
Hey as a former amity bowler why would you care if the pins were old or not. You don’t bowl there any more….or are you just here to b*tch…..like everyone else on this site.

Wow, someone complaining about WHO removes deadwood ? Dude, you are an idiot ! As long as the deadwood gets removed, whos cares who does it. Get a life ! Oh yea, about waiting for the manager to fall and possibly get hurt, maybe he’s waiting for you to trip over you own mouth while throwing the ball and land on your face with your own ball on top of your head. Now that would be funny !

Thanks Andrew. I want to remind my thursday nite bowlers how bad it was in Hamden. We never had the same shot and after Judy left service was horrible. On a whole our bowlers are bowling better. I bowl in many other houses, and no house can make everyone happy. We have it good here. Hang in there Tom. And by the way My team is going to win this league. Just Kidding.

Comment Date: 11/25/2008 Name: matt
I bowl in league three nights a week, and so does my mom. We both practice a lot and I myself practice at least NINE games a week. Of course I am going to get better. When I was a 170 average bowler people used to say that I did not know how to set up a shot to save my life. The simple fact of the matter is that I am an dammned if I do and damned if I don’t. The shot was changed because people were complaining to me that it did not hold up through three grames which I agreed with. More than a few people said that which is why I changed it. There is far more oil in the patter by the way than last year. Dave on my team is a beginner bowler and practices a lot too. That is why we are winning…we all practice and are all improving. There is no magic shot that only works for me and my teammates. I set the shot up so that the majority of the bowlers in the center can have fair shot at bowling well. Scores in general have gone up and more people are happy. Tom, if you would like to talk to me about it I would love to hear what you have to say. Other than that I do not know what else to say other than I will not be bowling in three leagues again next year. I just try hard practice a lot and do what I have to do to win. If you have a problem with that then I do not know what else to say. I am sure you will still say that I set the shot up for myself. You know what though? I am nothin special. Just your average guy who loves bowling. peace.

Comment Date: 11/21/2008 Name: Tom

Chip I agree with you 100 percent. I do not see how people can justfy bowling bad and the going on a public forum like this, under an assumed name, and totally trashing a place. The only thing that they are doing is making themselves feel better at the expense of a center reputation on this site. although so much trash is talked here it is ver hard to take much of it seriously. All this does is make bowling in general look bad. You are a voice of reason among a storm of B.S.

As for wallingford bowl, I do recall seeing a great many comlpaints about that place. On this very site! I do not bowl there myself but complaints kinda go with the territory. No center can ever make everyone happy all the time. This place included. At least here and at wallingford there is someone who will at least listen to you. not that way at an Amf center.

The only thing that changes about the shot week to week is the people who bowl with you on it. Learn how to adjust my man. Have not seen so many high scores here in a while.

Comment Date: 10/27/2008 Name: Chip
We still think we made the right decision coming to Amity. Our shot has always been the same week in and week out. Like every other center, some people hit certain patterns better then other people do. It does not mean they are better bowlers they just match up better to those patterns. The management here is great, and they deliver. Any league would be doing well to bowl here.

Comment Date: 10/21/2008 Name: Anonymous
Right..a “shot for EVERYBODY”. Thats why it changes on a regular basis. We all get a turn!

Comment Date: 10/20/2008 Name: Anonymous
You should have come to Wallingford like we did- no complaints at all. The shot is good and the management can’t be beat. They delivered.

Comment Date: 10/18/2008 Name: Chip
Thanks I should have stayed in Ohio. I can also speak for myself. I did like the shot that was here last season better. I am not sure why it was changed. I did have many complaints from my league bowlers. I am sure we will figure it out. And Dirk runs the pro shop here. I was upset on Thursday, but was over it by the time I left. I will continue to reccomment this center to everyone.

Comment Date: 10/17/2008 Name: Dissappointed Bowler
Chip saids he would never put a shop in a house where he cant hit the shot. Too bad, he is a nice guy that really cared about building this place up. Never saw him as upset as he was since shot was ruined. You should have stayed in Ohio John.

Well Hamden Lanes is alive and well. At least their awful lane pattern is. Not only did many of the leagues come they must have brought the lane machine with them. So if you stink, cant roll a ball in oil, or can throw it 18 miles an hour rejoice you are in bowling heaven. The rest of us are back in hell.

Comment Date: 10/17/2008 Name: Anonymous
There is a shot for everybody at amity. You are crying this week, next week you will shoot 650 and we won’t see any more posts out of you that’s the way it is. Hey at least the shot will be the same from week to week management does not change it because one person cries.

Comment Date: 7/21/2008 Name: Chip
I can hardly believe what I am reading. Having run a pro shop for over 5 years, I can tell you first hand. That if you cater to only the so called “high calbier bowler”, you would close your doors in a matter of weeks. Not only are there more, mid average bowlers. they are easier and more fun to work with.
A good point was made in one post. Bowling as an industry must begin making the lower average bowler more comfortable and welcome in all enviorments. They are the future of leagues, not the self proclaimed pros.

Comment Date: 7/16/2008 Name: funbowler
wow. did you even read the previous two posts? judging by your last comment it does not semm like you did. how about commenting on something relating to what I said and not just slinging mud. classy man… classy.

Comment Date: 7/16/2008 Name: Jon
Wish the owner would get rid of Dirk. The place is always closed and when it is, his prices are very high. Put someone there that will be open 5 days per week. Bottom line is, we need a Pro Shop that will be there for us.

Comment Date: 7/16/2008 Name: mike
Typical bowler mentality. I make a suggestion as to why, and get fired back like that. no wonder bowling has become the armpit of sports (if it is one). Guys like you tarnish the propogation of the game. I wish you many splits and gutter balls, but that seems to be your style.

Comment Date: 7/13/2008 Name: Peter
Mike, you have to be a idiot. Pro Shop service should be available to all bowlers, regardless of their average. Maybe you are really Dirk, if thats the case, then I know for sure that you are an idiot. Your comment has got the be the most stupid statement that I have read on this site. Congrats and wish you luck in finding a brain.

Comment Date: 7/9/2008 Name: funbowler
I bowl in the wed night fireman’s league and average between 165 and 170. I guess I am not a high enough “calibre” of bowler for mike d or should I say dirk. That kind of attitude regarding the “good” bowler and the average bowler is probably why the sport has been declining. I would think that if the pro shop really wanted to make money they should provde service to all bowlers, and not just the ones like the ex mechanic with all the patches that feels like he needs to buy five balls every year. Anyway i think that most of those guys would go up to nutmeg to buy their balls anyway. That guy up there seems like he has way better pricing. Calibre….. ha i guess

Comment Date: 7/6/2008 Name: mike d
maybe when the calibre of bowlers goes up a few notches, it may be worth his time to be there. If there was money to be made there then it will be worth the effort.

Comment Date: 6/27/2008 Name: richie
you would think with the influx of league play from hamden closing that dirk would consider being open more than 4 hours a week. I wonder what he is going to do come fall? other than that this center rocks.

Comment Date: 6/4/2008 Name: Wayne
This is a great place to bowl. The service is good, the bartender is very nice. We have a great time everytime we go.

Comment Date: 4/13/2008 Name: rick
The manager at amity went to the bowling proprioters management school a couple of years ago and I do not think that he is going anywhere soon. They seem to be on the right track there as the place has improved dramaticaly in the last few years. The pinsetters run 100 percent better and the place looks great. It is nice to bowl in a center that seems to actually care about its bowlers. (both open bowlers and league)

Comment Date: 4/9/2008 Name: Emil
I know dozens of managers that went to Brunswick Management School. All have failed, or are working in a different industry. Best to work on slipping some Hamden bowlers in there. Make them an offer they cant refuse. Do it the right way..and not by slipping in to their season end banquets to undercut rates. Do it the professional way.

Comment Date: 3/23/2008 Name: Just a bowler
Big Jim I have to disagree with you. John does not give up that easy, even with screwed up tendons, he has learned to bowl 2 handed and is making it work. Wish he would open his shop in Amity, he helped me out a lot.
As for this center, it is great. I wish them the best with hamden closing.

Comment Date: 3/20/2008 Name: matt
I appreciate all the comments good and bad from everyone on this site. To all the people who have slammed my bowling center I say this. JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE A GOLFER DOES THAT MAKE YOU QUALIFIED TO RUN A GOLF COURS? I love how all my detractors think that they can do my job better than me. the simple fact of the matter is that my famly have sunk 100’s of thousands of dollars into this business. I have gone to bowling center management school, and have gone to great lengths to educate myself. Not the least of which becoming an avid bowler myself. We do this for the long term health and vitality of the place and care deeply about its success, be it from a financial, or sporting point of view. We realise that there is no way to make everyone happy, however I do believe we have made the vast majority happy. People like the aforementioned chip among many others are proof positative of this.
In closing I would just like to say that things are always getting better at amity. the machines are running well, and will continue to do so. we are dedicated to the center and the bowlers who are kind enough to frequent our establishment.

This place has changed ownership every 3 to 5 years on average. The cycle is due again. From a private owner, then to BRC, then to BCA, then to a group, then another private owner to another. Kinda tells you something.

Comment Date: 3/16/2008 Name: Chip
How can you say that. If you are going to make comments like that at least put your name on it. I have bowled in hell,(ie Hamden) this shot is one of the most consisent I have seen.
You should be nice to these guys, with Hamden closing they will soon be the only game in town. unless you want to drive to wallingford and watch your ball bounce.

Amity needs a New Cleaning co. also New Pro shop Guy… and a New Lane Man…and a New Manager..

Comment Date: 3/1/2008 Name: Chip
The answer would be to write in hours of operation into the lease agreement between the center and the pro shop. With out it they will have to wait till the lease expires.

Comment Date: 2/26/2008 Name: Anonymous
Chip, the pro shop provides a service to the bowlers. without that service the bowlers will have to go elsewhere. why would the owners want their league bowlers going elsewhere for bowling equipment and stay there to try out their new equipment. Lost open play revenue. does not make sense.

Comment Date: 2/17/2008 Name: Chip
Why do you say the owners must be idiots? Maybe Dirk has a lease and pays his rent each month. If thats the case; it is a leased space. If Dirk chooses to make no money there, it is his choice.

Comment Date: 2/17/2008 Name: Two Handed Bowler
What happen to the Good shot we had…???

Comment Date: 2/6/2008 Name: Anonymous
Why is the Pro Shop only open 1 day per week ? If Dirk can not operate 2 shops, he should close one and let somebody else own it have it open during the leagues. The owners must me idiots to let Dirk do this or maybe Dirk has something on them. Either way, its a shame.

Comment Date: 1/26/2008 Name: mad as hell
Was there last week…bowled 4 games, machine got stuck 6 times and when i went to my car, it was broken in to. They wouldnt even let me use the phone to call police. That was the deciding factor..I wont be there anymore.

Comment Date: 12/11/2007 Name: Chip
The machines are running much better. Not one break down all season. There may have been issues in the past. However the owners have put in the time and money and the machines are working better. Things like that take time.

Comment Date: 12/6/2007 Name: James T.
To each his own..I left there due to aggitations with machines breaking down and ball damage, and lunkheads working there. The owners are great people, but they need to look at the big picture. That place hasn’t ben right since BRC sold it in 1984.

This is a great place to bowl league. it is a real bowlers house

Comment Date: 12/1/2007 Name: Chip
I recently moved my league here from Hamden lanes. We are all glad we did. The management is very accomadating, the snack bar is great, and the shot is very consistent. i highly reccomend any league to bowl there.

Comment Date: 12/12/2007 Name: Joe
Yes, the guy in the proshop is so rude. If he didnt have 50 kids bowling, he could pay more attention to the customers. The rest of the bowling alley is fine.

Lore’s lanes is a very nice place. The staff is great. The lanes are great. The only faults are that you cannot bring in your own food and the rude grumpy guy with the mustache in the Pro-shop.

Comment Date: 12/2/2007 Name: Courtney Davis
Lore’s Lanes is one of the best bowling alleys there is! I bowl in the Junior league on Saturday mornings and also on Sunday mornings in the adult/junior league. The staff there is amazing. Josh is hilarious and so kind to me and everyone else. Such a sweetheart. Austin is sweet to. Quiet sometimes but always has a kind thing to say when you see him. The snackbar is awesome. Sue is so sweet and kind. She’s known me pretty much my whole life and I’m glad that she is a part of my life. Her food is tops. And at a very reasonable price. Jason is one of the nicest people you’ll meet and is an excellent employee. Overall…lores is the best. And I would know…i’m there thursday friday saturday and sunday.

Lores lanes is a great bowling alley! the snackbar is some great eating. you could tell from one day in the bowling alley the staff takes great care into what they do. The women at the snackbar has such a passion for acomidating the public and does it to the best of her ability. The prices at the bowling alley are cheap enough but the prices at the snackbar are too cheap for the effort put into the food the lady does not get enough money for her labor. so all the people who want to hate on the bowling alley go else where yur negativity is not wanted

Comment Date: 4/17/2006 Name: n/a
Oh man do i love lores lanes nothing like a hottie at the snackbar now that is some good food. The women that runs the snackbar is always Happy Sweet and very very generous. The staff at lores lanes couldn’t get much better. Marcel is a professional in every aspect of a bowling center. Its deffenately the center of my familys choice. And may i add that no other bowling center does the baking on site. And boy are the bake goods great. So for all of you who thinks the bowling alley s*cks then you obviously don’t know the place so go somewhere else then

I love the tv screens they have with the cartoons on it and the little tv station screen in the corner of the screen you can watch tv while you wait to bowl.

I love Lores Lanes….
the food is awesome…..
Cody is the best! Jason is a hottie… and flips those burgers with the greatest ability I’ve ever seen….
The bar is kinda tiny, but thats alright!
It’s a small alley but sometimes it’s comforting… Erik is cool… Louis is there and I love him 🙂 lol. Katie now works the bar and snackbar??? What next, the mechanic and then the bar…. at least she is an awesome person and kicks butt. Kevin is the best little bowler I have ever seen… he’ll probably go pro…..
Sue’s snackbar is top of the line, never seen much better. Bob and Laurie are cool owners! The owners at other bowling alleys are mean and s*ck…
So go down to Lores Lanes – 145D Danbury Road, get a lane, pair of shoes, sip some Bacardi and buy a hotdog! It’s all there at the Lore’s Lanes!

Comment Date: 8/25/2005 Name: It Doesnt Matter
This bowling center is a joke. The staff is rude and acts as if your only a number to them. The food is way over priced at the snack bar. They have a beast for a bartender, no joke she could be the bride of frankenstein. The roof is STILL falling apart. The scoring system is riddled with bugs. And the house is way too easy. Normal houses I carry a 180 average. I go there and can carry a 210 easily.

Comment Date: 7/15/2005 Name: Annonymous
Those lanes s*ck. They’re awful, they break down every 5 minutes and they still make you pay for the game. The food is rather expensive too.

Comment Date: 3/20/2005 Name: Anonymous
I was just there for traveling team. The place s*cks if you ask me. They only have 26 lanes. think and that’s not big enough to have a league. It’s so small and crowded. They need to build on or something.

Comment Date: 2/18/2005 Name: Anonymous
I was just here at Lore’s lanes last week. The place is a pit. If the building is not that old they should get a refund from the people who built it.. The roof is still leaking.

Comment Date: 7/30/2004 Name: Anonymous
Boring bowling alley.. Just a walk up bar.. No sit down lounge. No meeting room facilities. Last time I was there a few ceiling tiles were caved in and they had a bucket on one of the lanes to catch water from the roof leak. Hmm.. Building is only 3 years old. Mendes Automatic Scoring is bug ridden program.

re: the balls making your hands dirty, the lanes are covered in oil just like a 10 pin lane, just not with as much. With no finger holes this gets stuff over your whole hand, bowling big balls (anywhere!) does the same thing, but usually just your palm since oil doesnt get in the holes too much.

Comment Date: 6/24/2009 Name: Family Man
My family recently walked in for the 1st time in a long time. We were wowed by the renovation. Speaking with the owner, she told us they just completed a $1.2 million dollar renovation. We had an excellent time and are going to book our bday party there. The new laser tag and video game area looked like a lot of fun. The prices were reasonable and the staff was excellent. Thought a lot of the other comments were unfair.

Comment Date: 3/18/2009 Name: Duckpin Bowler 4 Years
Used to bowl there in the 90s as a youth in tournaments when we came up from Maryland. Just FYI, most duckpin lanes are manual scoring. The ones that aren’t tend to keep score wrong when pins fall after the deadwood/sweep. There aren’t many duckpin lanes that even use it. Hell, there aren’t many duckpin lanes. As for the professionalism of staff, wouldn’t be surprised as she used to yell at her youth bowlers when they didn’t win.

This place really needs to modernize – it looks so run down. They still have manual scoring and the bowling balls make my hands all grimy. I hope they fix it up soon – it could be a blast!

Comment Date: 12/26/2007 Name: Brian
Believe the other comments. These people are rude and cocky. We’ve been there several time’s, just because our kids love the game. We’ve had to deal with these inconsiderate people to make our kids happy, but the last straw was at a 5 year old’s birthday party last year. One of the employee’s had to clear the gutter balls after we waited about 20 min for him to come. He screamed, and I me screamed, at the kids before he went back to the counter. The mother talked to the owner after the incedent and got no appollagy. These people are always like this. Don’t waste you money.

An absolute dump. Very very very rude staff. Nothing good about this bowling alley

T-Bowl may be the largest duckpin center, but they can also boast that the have the most inconsiderate, self centered proprietor in duckpins as well.Kim is just too full of herself.

to anonymus having a 200 average in some houses takes a lot of skill, i throw the ball like crap and i average 210 plus on all of these walled up shots, when u go to a place closer to where i am from ( frontier lanes warwick ny) ull c wut i am talking about, not the easiest stuff but then again its good to see that compared to the house shot here

Comment Date: 6/20/2009 Name: Anonymous
Hey will, having a 200 average in any house does not mean you are good !

Comment Date: 2/14/2009 Name: Harry
Would sometimes bowl here after visiting from Westchester to see my nephew’s Saturday morning league. Great lane conditions, good food, OK prices.
A shame there are so few bowling alleys in Fairfield County anymore thanks to the high rents of this area.

Comment Date: 2/2/2009 Name: will
its a blind mans shot, anyone can shoot well here, if you have a 200 plus average in this house it doesnt mean ur good

Joe Vick, you do not even bowl at Nutmeg. Why don’t you go post on the site where you bowl. Without reading, do you even know where Nutmeg Bowl is ?? You are a troll, GET LOST !!

Comment Date: 11/14/2008 Name: Bill
Joe, I get it, you use your own video camera to take the picture and then plug it into your TV to watch. Joe hate to break the bad news, but the video is only being shown on your TV and not everyone elses. Boy it must be very boring watching a 170 average bowler bowling 5 year olds on bumpers bowling for spiderman cards (and losing). Joe, you can’t average anything on a house shot, how do you think you are going to beat a 200 average bowler on 45 feet of oil ? Joe, the magic word today for you is PRACTICE PRACTICE and PRACTICE. I know people that have been bowling for less than 3 months averaging over 180 on THS. I apologize if you are handicaped, but you must be to be bowling that long and only averaging 170.

Comment Date: 11/14/2008 Name: joe vick
hey bill, hate to tell you.i use my own cameras to show on t.v. you bill, should bud out.unless you are on the pba tour which you’re not.like me,dont talk yourself.i know someone who would mind showing these pot games to the public to see for themselves that unless you have the skills,go retire somewhere far away from the game.

Comment Date: 11/13/2008 Name: Bill
Its been kind of fun reading the post from Jason and Joe, if that is their real names. Have to admit, I have to agree with jason about being challenged to a match over the internet. That is extremely stupid and we all know the match will never take place. Guess that is why Joe says he wants to televise it. Last I remembered, it cost about $35,000 to broadcast a bowling event (minimum). Joe must have a lot of money or he owns his own station. Either way, Joe is full of it and like Jason (whoever he is) said, Joe, go practice.

Comment Date: 11/12/2008 Name: joe vick
you talk about practice.when i bowl for $$$$ thats how it goes.i knew you werent jason small.on a real condition, youre 200 avg dont mean squat.i’m talking about 45′ gutter to gutter, keep telling your mommy, you dont know squat about the game.the song from the everly brothers dreaming.please have your mommy & daddy sing it to you when the lanes dont have a (shot)!!so dont tell me about 170 avg.you & your chump friends wouldnt avg what your bowling now.

Comment Date: 11/7/2008 Name: Jason Small
Joe, you are a 170 average bowler if that is your real name. For the amount of years you have been bowling, you s*ck. This post and you are a complete waste of time. Obviously, my name is not Jason Small but I will tell you that my average has been over 200 for many years and that includes one year in a PBA experience league. As soon as someone challenges someone to a match on the internet without seeing them bowl, I know they are an idiot or just a want-a-be with the only thought is to beat them with their keyboard and not their ball. Get off the computer and go practice, god knows, you need it.

Comment Date: 11/5/2008 Name: joe vick
to jason small.gee!!it took you this long from hiding using the name,,annonymous.let me tell you.unless you have positive proof this jimmy jones’s the same person,,my advice to you and your casper the friendly ghost friends,,get lost.bad enough,on other sites, when it gets hot in the kitchen,,these clowns want to bowl for money..to you, lets bowl $100 a game on a 45’pattern gutter to gutter &the; bonus is,you can use only 1 ball.actually when each game is done, move 1 pair to the right.loser pays for everything.i’ll make sure where i live,it’s put on public tv,so your dumb friends can learn, who knows the ropes.to make things interesting,no high tech balls can be used.now i know you’ll be heading out the door as fast as you came in.so keep dreaming, pal!!!!!!!!!!!

Comment Date: 11/4/2008 Name: Jason Small
It takes real stupid people (little kids) to challenge someone to bowl for money without seeing them bowl, unless you want to bowl for $1 per game. Like I said, you are all the same person and you are very stupid. Get real and come back when you grow up, maybe 20 or 30 years.

Comment Date: 11/3/2008 Name: joe vick
to annonymous..i hate to tell you,i don’t know if you’re a idiot, but, your mommy and daddy should of told you, mind your own business.you talk about 3rd grade!.you’re not too smart anyways.i bowl out of rochester new york and you can check rochester bowling association, and see for yourself.at least i dont hide behind a name like annonymous.your brains must be fried from trying to think you’re smart.my opinion, you’re worthless as a 3 dollar bill.you know as well as i do,theres no such thing.,just like you,,mr/mrs personality.

Comment Date: 10/31/2008 Name: joe vick

to this clown, who calls himself annonymous,,i hate to tell you unless you have proof the same person is doing this prove it..at least these other jokers don’t call themselves annonymous..after reading the previos peoples comments good luck even trying to get a proven clue whats going on.id like to see you bowl on a shot what you clowns call it and score on it.i know you and your buddies averages will drop so fast you thought you were on the new york stock exchange..hate to tell you mr annonymous,on some other websites people cant spell to save they own skin..come over here to kentucky.as matter of fact, louisville,,me and my boys would laugh you and whoever you bring with you,out the door..like they say,,video is the best way to go..funny,and you talk about sentence structure, now i agree with jimmy jones.i got a couple junior bowlers who would run you and your friends off the lanes,as fast as you put your stuff on.i know its illegal for jr bowlers to bowl for $$$$$,,dont worry,,there buddies will be ther with their video cameras to tape the whole thing..so my advice,,get lost mr annonymous..you want to hide behind that name,,go ahead,,dont waste everyones time,i need to put you on the comedy channel..

Comment Date: 10/30/2008 Name: linda fredricks
im amazed some who hides better yet tells complains about sentence structure.hey annonymous who ever you call yourself..please do us a favor,,get lost..i thought the primaries were bad,and your concerned about english..what are you a teacher????get a life..joe vick and these other guys who i dont know,,have a good point.and your concerned about some stupid bowling balls that jimmy j got from a bowler who didnt want them.get real.dont woory.i know a teacher wholl see this a let her 3rd grade class look at this..

Comment Date: 10/27/2008 Name: Anonymous
John, Jimmy, Joe and willie get off your moms computer and do your homework. You all need to learn how to create a sentence and obviously how to spell. Personally, I think you are all the same person. Its hard to believe that 3 people have terrible spelling and sentence structure. Unless, you are all good friends and go to the same school (3rd grade).

Comment Date: 10/23/2008 Name: willie t. samson
to anonymous,,why dont you put your real name on this website..your name’s a cowards’ name,as far as i’m concerned..so,if i were you, leave jimmy j,,alone..& the worst part, you want 2 know when he bowled in the usbc tournament..who cares???get the lead out of your head!!!what’s wrong with you????

Comment Date: 10/22/2008 Name: joe vick
for the fool, who call themselves, anonymous, why dont you put your real name on this website??talking about being full of it..me & my guys,,think, you too, you’re full of it..people hide behind “anonymous” like they’re being hunted down by the fbi..

Comment Date: 10/20/2008 Name: JIMMY JONES
i don’t deal with chumps who use the name “anonymous”.thats just as laughable as these guys who think they’re 200t avg bowlers.

Comment Date: 10/17/2008 Name: JOHN SMITH
to the jerk who can’t spell.leave that joker alone..you need to go to school to learn how to spell..it’s amazing to learn why clowns like you would want to know ,when some1 bowled in a tournament..my advice,,go fly a kite.better yet,,go chase bears ..so this jimmy j has used bowling balls..i know quite of few guys who get balls,cheap..lets get a video camera & get a pair of lanes outside, oil them 50′ gutter to gutter.i know he’ll eat you alive!!!!

Comment Date: 10/17/2008 Name: jimmy j
you dont get it!!! i could care less about you..as long as my equipment is legal, which it has been checked many of times,,thats all thats matter..you are full of dust.guys i talked to agree.they laughed @ you!!!! get a life..u r full of what??? i’ll call bill engvall to give you & your buddies signs..tractor trailer size,,signs.

Comment Date: 10/16/2008 Name: Anonymous
To jimmy j , as I said, when did you bowl in a USBC tournament is Vegas ? Should be a easy anwser, unless you are full of it, which we all think you are.

Comment Date: 10/13/2008 Name: jimmy j

Comment Date: 9/1/2008 Name: Anonymous
Jimmy j sounds pretty suspect having 4 balls that cost 60 dollars each, lol ffs

Comment Date: 4/3/2008 Name: jimmy j
to the previous comment,i have 4 balls that costs all together around $200-250.i dont need big name bowling balls to knock pins down, and im happy

Comment Date: 4/1/2008 Name: anonymous
Just out of curiosity, doesn’t most of the people that visit this site have a 200$ strike-in-the-box ball? What about you Jimmy J.? Unless you are too poor to afford one.

Comment Date: 3/27/2008 Name: jimmy j.
To anonymous, did it ever occut to you to stop bragging when you bowl bad, just like 2828.That joker bounces around various sites like a NBA basketball.I agree with bowl 4 fun.A real condition will bring you down to your knees. And believe me,I dont care about your $200 strike-in-a-box-bowling balls.

Comment Date: 3/23/2008 Name: Anonymous
Hey bowl 4 fun, I happen to be one of boqlingfanatics2828’s “buddies”. He just had a bad day. I’m sure that you’ve had a bad day yourself. I didnt bowl bad when I went to practice with him. Stop criticizing him.

Comment Date: 1/26/2008 Name: BOWL 4 FUN
aha, looks like 2828 and his buddies need some lessons.now, they’re starting to act like some grown men crybabies.if the lanes are wood,or not, whoever is bowling, had better adjust to the conditions given.remember,on wood, the oil goes down the lane,on the synthetic lanes, the oil spreads from the middle and moves toward the outside boards.

Comment Date: 1/4/2008 Name: Jim
Hey, BowlingFanatic2828 great ad for the pro shop. You must work there. Bottom line, they used to sell cheap online, but there drilling is suspect. Way too much hype

Comment Date: 11/28/2007 Name: BowlingFanatic2828
I did a JBT at Nutmeg Bowl, and I must say, the lanes are very hard to get adjusted to. The oil kept shifting and both my friend and I had such a difficult time. That theory did come true that day, because the week before the JBT, I went to practice and faced the same issues. I believe it’s still a great alley. There are new carpets, the best TV and Scoring Screens. They are state-of-the-art flat screen tvs. They also show you specific statistics that other alleys do not. The pro shop, Buddies, is a fantastic pro shop. They are an online store as well, and offer unbelievable pricing. I highly recommend them. Overall, best alley in Fairfield County.

Comment Date: 10/24/2007 Name: Anonymous
I think it is…Circle lanes was their competition, but they closed a few years ago. Typical AMF Center…they should close them all.

Comment Date: 9/20/2007 Name: Anonymous
Isn’t it the only center in Fairfield County ??

Comment Date: 4/28/2006 Name: Joe
Nutmeg Bowl is a first class bowling center and I enjoy every visit.

Comment Date: 1/20/2006 Name: Bierbaron of Newtown
We go to Nutmeg quite a bit. I like the flexibilty they offer on weekends – you can do open lanes, extreme bowling, etc. The crowd is a little wild sometimes, but pretty harmless. Prices & lane conditions are very good. I think that this is probably the best all-around bowling center in Fairfield County.

Comment Date: 5/21/2005 Name: Paul
The bowling alley itself is fine…
But the bar needs some help. Everytime you go in there it’s dead… I miss Circle Lanes from a few years back in the 80’s & early 90’s… now that place used to be poppin’ on Friday & Saturday Nights when I bowled in League’s there.

Comment Date: 3/20/2005 Name: Anonymous
I love Nutmeg Bowl. I go there all the time. The lanes, food, and workers are great. They have a nice pro shop. They also have good leagues to bowl in for everybody and good pricing on things. I advise you to try Nutmeg Bowl!!!

Comment Date: 3/13/2005 Name: craig kerrigan
Nutmeg overall is a great center. Although signs should be posted referring to lane courtesy. Our team practices every Sunday morning and almost without fail we deal with bowlers on one side or the other that don’t bowl that often and probably aren’t aware that for a serious bowler this is a huge distraction. Signage could make them aware.

Comment Date: 8/22/2004 Name: matrtina
This place has really great food, and isn’t too expensive, and is tons of fun!!!!!!

I was there the other day and they have a young manager. I forget his name, but I think it starts with an A. Anyways, he is very friendly, courteous, and was joking around with my mom (which she LOVED). He is charming and funny, but did a great job helping us put our names in the screen above the lanes. He was very polite, and spoke highly of upper management. The counter girl was pleasant, yet a little serious for my taste.

Dear MG,
You took the time to find this site and post a stupid question. Why didn’t you use the internet and look up the phone number to the bowling alley and then ask them yourself, moron.
