Hi, does anyone know how to connect with people from Mel’s Bowl 1970’S BOWLING LEAGUES in Redwood City? Trying to find people who bowled with Lois Mae Morris. Thanks, Darla {Sorry, no personal email addresses allowed – B2U Staff}

I have been in Mel’s once. Place had a nice “old school” feel. I love to bowl, but seriously, how many Californians really bowl? They would rather be biking, hiking, camping. Bowling is a great sport that really needs some promotion. Very sad to hear they are tearing down Mel’s for apartments. But the area does need improvement, this apartment complex will be run down in no time…look how people treat the rest of Redwood City. RIP Mel’s.

I just heard about the upcoming closure. It’s sad to see another vintage bowling center lose out to more profitable real estate ventures. I’ve only been in the area for a few years, but the staff there has treated me well, and the old wooden lanes were always well-maintained. Thank you everyone for your excellent service!

I’ve just learned that Mel’s will be closing in early May, and I feel very sad about this. For even though I moved from Redwood City to Sacramento in 2004, I bowled leagues and tournaments and thousands of games of practice and spent thousands of hours in that bowling center over a thirty year period. And even though I knew this day would come, I’m still awfully sorry to see it.
After Mel’s closes, there will be only three bowling centers I know of along a stretch of the Peninsula from Sunnyvale to Millbrae that used to have ten bowling centers, and one wonders how long one or more of them will be able to stay in business.
What a sad development for a sport I’ve loved for over 45 years! RIP Mel’s Bowl.

As a third generation Redwood City Native, Mel’s has seen better days. After they tore down the Woodside Bowl a couple decades ago, Mels became the only local option (Bel Mateo Bowl is a 20 minute drive and the place is terrible). As much as I hate to see it go, Mel’s is on the way out. I say go and bowl…don’t expect too much…and you will enjoy yourself. Given how demographics have changed in this area, once Mel’s is gone, local bowling will cease to exist…likely forever.

I have been at Mel’s Bowl my whole life, from the time my parent bowled there and I was in the nursery til the time I took a break from bowling in my late 40’s. I’m looking to coming back, I’ve missed bowling alot.

Comment Date: 3/16/2011 Name: Dennis B.
I’m trying to find out when it was first built. I’m guessing around 59′ or 60 but I haven’t been able to find anything on-line on this. I too remember the small rooms with pool tables not sure when they were taken out.

Comment Date: 9/6/2010 Name: Big B
I agree! The staff is rude but I love the bartender. Not the manager(he’s rude or too serious???) but the nice redheaded lady , whose name I only remember when I’m drinking. Good times!!
now lets go to, the H.P across the street!!

I grew up in this joint in the ’70s, bowled a 300 game there in ’73 at age 16 and was a local celebrity of sorts for a while. The joint is almost completely unchanged in the last 35 years, and that’s not a good thing. There’s some kind of rhubarb going on right now over ownership of the land, and it’s quite possible that Mel’s might not be around much longer, which would be a cryin’ shame… though in its current state, I doubt it would be missed much. It desperately needs somebody with big bucks to come along, secure a new lease on the land, and buy the joint from AMF and turn it into a state-of-the-art entertainment center. There are no bowling alleys nearby, and I think it could be really successful if done right.

Comment Date: 1/1/2010 Name: William
I slipped and fell down the alley, the alley is too slippery. I did not like it. I want less slip on the alley and softer pins.

Comment Date: 10/26/2009 Name: Robert Redwood City
The lanes are well maintained. The price is $2.49 per line Sunday night, not that expensive when you consider that Coconut Bowl in Reno charges $2.50 til 5:30pm and $4.00 in the evenings. I have found lanes are always available so I suspect they may not be open very much longer. IS BOWLING DYING AS A PASS TIME?

Comment Date: 8/14/2009 Name: Mike
Yeah, I agree with Michael, that stretch of Redwood City has seen better times. Mel’s bowl is on a very expensive piece of property and they never know when their lease is going to get yanked, so why would they spend tons of money making the place look good for people who are already complaining that the games are too expensive? Hello?, you live in one of the most expensive areas in the United States. Move to Reno if you want cheap bowling. As far as the staff goes, sure, they’re a little rough around the edges, but they do a great job facilitating the mechanics of what you are there for. Be happy that you still have a local bowling option with lanes made of real wood. It would be absolutely impossible to replicate Mel’s Bowl in this day and age.

Comment Date: 8/6/2009 Name: Michael
Reading all these comments is disturbing. Everything is expensive these days, and yes its run down, but everything in that area of Redwood City is a mess….remember, were talking Redwood City..and I am speaking from a third generation native perspective…not some Jonny come lately pitch..stop complaining and bowl…

Comment Date: 7/20/2009 Name: m.p
This place is 2 expensive and the people that work there look like bums and are rude, would never go 2 this dump again!

Comment Date: 5/28/2009 Name: Beethoven
was an awesome place to bowl. alley has been runned down, staff s*cks. oh your ball got stuck, you wont see it again. you throw your ball on your lane, and some goofball throws his ball on a pair next to you, while the rake is sweeping his lanes, you get blamed for it. Mels really s*cks. Bring back Woodside Bowl where Bank Of America is now

Comment Date: 10/17/2008 Name: Anonymous
I have been league bowling since the early 60’s. It was a great place to come and have a great dinner in the resturant. They even had a day care so we could drop off our kids and bowl a couple of games on the weekend. Now we cannot get any young people to join leagues because they have nowhere to leave their kids for a couple of hours. The help leaves alot to be desired. The place has become really shody, needs new carpeting and overall updating.

Comment Date: 5/26/2008 Name: Serena
You know growing up my whole 28 years in redwood city the place has changed a lot. There are very few things to do in Redwood City for teens and young adults too do and its sad to say that this day in age with the economy so bad that its $50 plus dollars to go out with a few friends and bowl a few games and have a bite to eat. The prices are way to high and if you would think that they would invest in to making the alley better. Palo Alto bowl is awesome and the one over in Pacifica is really nice. They need to invest money into making it a more fun experiance maybe some pool talbles, and darts, and some better video games. And more affordable prices so that the average Joe can take his family out and not have to get a loan from the bank just to do it! LOL that being said maybe someone should listen and really try and make an effort for renovations and making it more of a whole experiance than a half a** boring bowling alley. Also do agree with what the others have said about the staff there, they all look like they’ve been around the block a few times and a few seem to be under the influence of some sort of drugs. They have been rude on more than one occasion and some even demeaning in the way they speak to you. They are employed to do a job which involves customer service and if the only qualification you have to have to get a job there is being a rude, uneducated, drug user then i think its time to change the expectation and lets have some fun again!

Bowled tonight 2/3/08. “Sheri” at the front desk decided she wanted to close an hour early (10pm in stead of 11pm). She was in quite a hurry. I think she knew the kids on one of the lanes towards then end because SHE KEPT SHOUTING AT THEM OVER THE STUPID SOUND SYSTEM FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. IT’S REALLY ANNOYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS TO FORCE THEM TO LISTEN TO THAT $###. Upon cashing out our party went to pay. Got an attitude because we wanted to pay in 2’s (couples). Then she overcharged the last couple by 1/2 a game. Fine. After the last couple paid she shorted them $0.03 of their $12.53. They asked for the remainder of their change. Got an attitude over that as well. So let me get this right, you want to overcharge them by 1/2 a game but you can’t give exact change?? Will never go to this place again. You just lost 10-16 potential weekend bowlers (occasional weekday too). Idiots.

Comment Date: 12/25/2007 Name: John
The management team is really bad, they’ll quote you prices depending on the type of person you are, the way you act, and the clothes you wear. The staff will taunt you. I will never go there again!

I left my ball in the locker. Can someone tell Carlo’s that he can use the entire locker and toss my ball down El Camino.
Loved this place growing up hanging behind the brick wall and throwing stuff down the lane when Mom and Dad were bowling the fireman’s league. I lost so many superballs in that house.
Don’t get me wrong, I like new stuff. But, in a strange way, it’s kind of awesome that Mel’s bowl is still the same.

Comment Date: 11/17/2007 Name: GCB
I used to bowl here when I was in high school in the mid 60’s – the exterior today is exactly as it was back then, even down to the “Mel’s” sign in front. In its day, it was a great place to hang out … saturday kid’s leagues featured a hot dog/soda “special” for 20 cents. It’s sad to drive by and see how age has taken its toll. Haven’t been inside since it became AMF. The old Brunswick lanes (before the Brunswick upgrade) were good, and at one time, in the 60’s, there even was a small pool hall inside.

Mels, USE TO BE a really nice bowling center. Once AMF took over, it went down hill. I grew up in that center, made a lot friend there. It kills me to see how bad things are there right now. Please go back to the old Mels. The Mels, in the mid 80’s to early 90’s

We made arrangements to have our twelve year old b-day party at Bruswick Zone Gilbert 109. We were told since we only had seven guests there was no need to make a reservation for the party. When we arrived to bowl, we were turned away with a waiting time of one and a half hour wait, and after that leagues started. When I told the manager about us being misdirected he made no attempt to accomodate us in anyway. I only requested one lane and asked if he could squeeze us in. He stated he would lose revenue and yes he did, from us from now on!!!!!!

we paid for 3 rounds of bowling but the lane stopped at 2. we talked to Chelsey, one of the workers, that we paid for 3 games but all she said was “sorry, it says 2 here.” we asked to see tracy, the cashier at the time but she said “sorry shes out right now.” we explained, showed the receipts we had but she once again said “I understand, but it says 2 here.”
I don’t know if she was PMSing or not, but seriously the worst employee attitude ive encountered all year. didn’t even bother to understand the situation or not

It is amazing what the public education system has done for the United States. Reading some, if not most, of the comments is sickening that some of these people are actually citizens of this country. No wonder this country is going down the toilet faster than a big brown log. For god’s sake, type your comments in a word processing program then spell check it before you type anything in here and show how illiterate you are. If this offends you, then you must be one of the ones I am talking about and need to do something about it beofre you go blaming someone else for your own shortcummings

I have been bowling at Brunswick Moreno Valley Bowl for the past year and a half everyday for 6-9 games per day. All that I have experienced is one of the most courteous and considerate staffs I have ever come accross. For those of you that have negative or ill feelings toward the alley when it comes to your kids on friday and saturday nights, try not bringing your children to a beer establishment on the most popular nights to drink beer. I see many happy children and happy parents during the daytime. maybe chuck e cheese or some kinda playzone should be your concern at night. let the adults have fun and release their hard work-week stress on friday and saturday nights. As long as it does not get out of hand.

Are you kidding me? The gypsy on Monday Night is normal? I would not go near the bowling alley after 7:30pm on Monday night. Follow the rule? Piss on the parking lot? Cuss Loud and to each other and whoever happens to be next just bad luck? Where are your Public Image? Just because we want to have FUN, does not give you the right to do what you do in a Public place like Bowling Alley. Last I checked, the place is still call Brunswick, not Gypsy Alley. You are guests of the bowling alley, not the other way around. You don’t make the rule and you certainly can’t cuss loudly in a public place, period! Furthermore, who broke the lane monitor? Do you know it is over $1,000 to replace the touch screen monitor? You claim you spend a lot of money here but you break everything in here. Each touch screen you break is $1,000, that is less than you paid the alley each week. How can you people do that? White Trash? (Bowling2U, how can you allow such words to be printed?) Me Here Long Time. You Like? Me Airforce, fight for Country, You? Me White Trash? No, you Gypsy Trash, Go home!
PS. Shawanna Miller did not take your money. She certainly did not steal your money. You never paid her the money. **NOTE** You should see what we DON’T print! – B2U Staff**

Just commenting since I read all the negative posts. Brunswick MoVal is not that bad. As far as safety inside, I have never had a problem there. There are also a lot of comments about ABC Bowling here too, so maybe there is some confusion. Brunswick is by far the nicer establishment of the two, though I’ve never had any problems there either.
I bowl at both places a lot. I go to ABC more often because it has $1 bowling 5 days a week, but Brunswick has a much nicer facility, a good pro shop, and friendly staff in my experience.
One more comment on the safety: Both places are in the heart of Moreno Valley – what do you expect? Of course there are going to be questionable characters around there! This is not a Brunswick/ABC issue, it is a Moreno Valley issue. You’d have the same concerns at the local gas station or grocery store near there.

I went here last weekend with my wife and 3 children. I have to say this place is TERRIBLE and unsafe. Upon entering the parking lot I observed people drinking beer in the parking lot, as well as a group of about 4 or 5 gang bangers smoking pot on the steps, on the side of the building! When i went to the front desk and talked to “Kevin”the manager, he told me to wait and was very rude, and said “dont you see I have people in line??” Ill call security, go bowl”..Security did show up for about 3 minutes and told the gang members to leave, but they were back 5 minutes later. Also theres a bar/lounge inside this place, and I caught a guy in his mid 40’s with coke bottle glasses on staring and drooling over my 10 yr old daughter through the window!! He continued to walk by about 3 or 4 times just oggling her and thats when we decided to leave. If you want a place infested with gang members and pedophiles, moreno valley brunswick bowl is the place to go!!

That would be a neat trick, as the tables are bolted to the floor. And isn’t it funny that you had the same exact experience at ABC bowl? Word for word? These boards are for honest reviews, not for posting falsehoods.

well actually I’ve been to Brunswick Moreno Valley bowl one time where there was some sort of gang-related argument outside. The men involved pushed and shoved into the bowling alley and actually ended up knocking over the table next to us. It was pretty scary…but of course small things like that don’t really get to the press or to the police. So, all in all, Brunswick Moreno Valley bowl isn’t horrible, but it’s still not too safe.

My family tried ABC Bowl for 3 days in a row. We love it! I don’t know how they do it? All Day & All night only $0.99 / Game & shoe rental is the same price. Friendly service, very helpful staff & great snack bar. Fast, delicious, & with a smile, too. My kids love the automatic bumpers & ABC 99 cent hot dog. Hey, guess what, we did not get stopped for having fun either. ABC Bowl is the happiest place to bowl in Moreno Valley. Brunswick, you can forget this family, we will not bowl at your center again. See Ya!

For me, bowling center should be a fun place to be but this place is not! All the bowlers here are very mean. They don’t seem to know how to have fun. My kids were told to be quiet because the others can’t bowl while my kids were having a good time! Can you tell me what is up with that? I heard ABC Bowl accross town is having their 99 cent summer again! I think I will give them a try next…… Will report back with my comments after I bowl there.

After a great day bowling, unwind with a great show in the new remodled lounge. Shows are from 9PM to 11PM Week ends.

With that said, the New Mr. C’s Lounge is being run by Mr. Joe Childs, former GM for Hap Arnold’s Club at March Air Force Base, a true Air Force Man for 40 years! Serving MoVal for the last 20 years! I liked ABC when Sam was running PJs. Since PJs has been closed, I was talked into trying Brunswick. Aside from the PAINFULLY slow snack bar, the food there is better than that from ABC. The lanes are equally fun for novices such as myself. I liked the scoring software at ABC better than that of Brunswick. But after my favorite pub was closed, I would (and have) chosen Brunswick. My 2 cents. Ultimately, try both and see what you feel.

Brunswick is in fact the one bad mouthing others. They even do so during their staff meetings. This is direct knowledge from their own staffs attended the meetings. Brunswick Moreno Valley also trying their hardest to spread all kinds of rumors about ABC bowl. They are doing so in hope that Everyday Bowlers will not TRY ABC Bowl. Brunswick knows if their Everyday Bowlers experience the “ABC Bowl Experience” they will stay at ABC Bowl, thus they do guys like “Old School Bowler”, (what is that name, sympathy points now? LOL) hopes of preventing existing Brunswick bowlers to switch to ABC Moreno Valley Bowl. Well, keep up the good work, Brunswick, just keep on sending wonderful folks like Peggy’s Family to us and we will treat them right & keep them. As for you, “Old School Bowler”, everything you put on these pages clearly shows your intention. Derogatory remarks, personal attacks & untrue statements are your ways of defending your “feeling” & bad mouth ABC Bowl? Come on, you think people are dumb? They only need to go to ABC Moreno Valley Bowl & will learn the truth about who is better in Moreno Valley!

I just heard about this site. I didnt know there was so much hatred concerning bowling alleys. I went to brunswick with my two children. I wanted to show them the same excitement I had when I was growing up. We went bowling every week. I was a little embarrassed when the woman at the food counter was rude to my 7 year old for dropping his change. She said others in line had to wait. The (manager?) was rude also and suggested I take my “off spring” elsewhere. I didnt even know we had another place to bowl in our city. I will go there from now on.

I happened to come across this site and was very disappointed with the crude comments by ABC Bowl Center, the owner Paul and employees. I think the folks over at ABC have truly forgotten bowling is a pasttime for family and friends. Paul seems to think bad mouthing Brunswick and people in general will somehow help his business. I happen to know many of the league bowlers from Brunswick and ABC, and most of the individuals who have seen these posts agree (Brunswick and ABC bowlers) that Paul is playing a childish game that only causes unneccessary friction and problems. I believe the Brunswick staff is very professional by not replying to petty (and untrue) comments from Paul and ABC. It seems that Paul is very desperate to help his business. From what I hear, he has been having problems paying his bills and employees and also ABC is up for sale. Of course I understand that a business needs to do what it can to survive, but childish and ineffective rubbish really can’t help a sinking business. Additionally, I have heard several not so pleasant information regaring Paul the owner as it seems he has been in trouble with the law for many bad things he has done (this information I got directly from ABC employees). ABC’s childish tactics, shady ownership and overall dangerous environment (shootings, fights, gangs, you name it) will keep me at Brunswick.

Dear R, Check with the Bowling Center. You will find part of your fees went to “Cleaning Fees” which is not in your contract! Brunswick is using this to steal your league fees! For example, on one of the weekend league, we learn that our line fees is $9.75, but they tag on an additonal “Cleaning” fee to the line fees. Due to the size of our league and complexity of our fees, most of the leauge members does not understand how their money is being spent so they did not know what is really going on. Also, with their blind trust on some of the league member in charge (ones with selfish interest, Pro Shops/ bracket people etc….), they did not know in fact they are paying over $11 for lineage. You might want to check with your league to see if this is happening to your league as well!

Hmm business partner… I don’t recall having a business partner since I do not own nor operate any businesses. You may think that I am the same guy who has posted here before, but I am not.
Put it this way… I’ve seen, the now, ABC Bowl change hands quite a few times… I moved to MoVal when Pinky’s was just as popular as BRCMV… I’ve seen this establishment go from Pinky’s to Cadillac to ABC back to Cadillac then back to ABC. I’ve lived less than 1 mile from your establishment for a couple decades. I used to bowl there quite often in my high school years just after it changed from Pinky’s to Cadillac.
If you still think Im the same guy, just wait until I start passing out fliers of this site in your parking lot.
And by the way, saying, one has bad English, is not a racist remark. It’s simply stating a fact that the English composition of some of the previous posts is grammatically incorrect. The formation and frequency of the actual posts is what tipped me off that ABC is posting certain things.
In example: An angry BRCMV customer says that they absolutely hate BRCMV and they are going to ABC because they have automatic bumpers.
Another posts on the site they have steak for $5.99.
Another says their league is going to ABC after a horrible league experience.
And they all have the same sentence formation, punctuation, grammar style.
Whats even better is that the same person boasting and advertising ABC has posted the same stuff on the Arlington Lanes and AMF sites.
Just some advice; when one advertises while making slanderous comments, that person is now considered libel.
Lastly, to prove that I am not the person you think I am, here is what I feel about your lane conditions and equipment
I believe that the lane conditions at ABC are pretty good. As a non league bowler Ill usually get drier lanes and get circular rev burns on my ball. The bumper thing is a cool feature, especially when bowling with my little girl. I usually have to request 2 lanes at other establishments.
The house balls do need an upgrade as many of them are pitted. Some of the balls still bear the Cadillac bowl name.
I do believe the best thing about ABC is the approaches. They are all handicap accessible being that the approaches are at the same level as the rest of the building behind the returns.
I still will not bowl there due to unscrupulous business practices shown on this site.

You can talk about your lane conditions and bad mouth ABC Bowl, but the facts remains! ABC Bowl is nice to bowlers both League & Open. ABC Bowl is reasonable in price & friendly! They have NO Problem with their Apporch (if it is not perfect, their workers will get down on their knees and Clean it right away). By the way, ABC Bowl has over 10 leagues bowl there and no problem what so ever!

Comment Date: 5/30/2007 Name: Lane Conditions
Here’s a little I’ve learned about the lane conditions at BRCMV.
The conditions are very consistant between lanes. The best line for the entry level balls would be 7-10 boards from the gutters with high revs. Toward the last 20, the ball has good hook potential of 15+ boards. I’ve been playing my Columbia Scout-R from the 10 to the 5 back into the pocket.
Lower rev rates would want to stay relatively straight through the 10 board.
This stays pretty consistant through 10+ games.
I’ll post again in a couple of weeks on how the med-high performance balls track on these lanes.

Comment Date: 5/24/2007 Name: Angry ABC Customer
I just stumbled onto this site, and i find the same person over and over saying how ABC bowling is the greatest place in the IE. Creating lies about staff and lane conditions. This Jason uses poor english, and is obvoiusly an employee of ABC.
I only have good things to say about BRC MoVal. I do not recall there ever being a stabbing, shooting, or major police activity at BRCMV. The lane conditions are great, and the Sunday night practice special cannot be beat. They are a littl expensive otherwise, but they make it up in lane quality and service.
BTW. After seeing ABC’s business practices on this website, I will make sure as many people in Moreno Valley and Riverside know, so they NEVER patronize their establishment again.

Why all the drama? The shooting in our lot was random. The shooting in our former playroom was also random. We have closed the playroom. We are a bowling center. We are not a baby sitting service. Raise your children well and keep them safe as their parents. All are safe here and ABC bowl.

I don’t know how else to put it, so i’m just going to say it. These dirty comments are from ABC Employees and disgruntled bowlers who have nothing else to do but complain about their environment. If you choose to bowl at ABC, the so be it. But for you to say mean and hurtful things and wish such happenings to our employees and our business, is just plain disrespectful. So if we can end the bickering here and run our businesses like civilized adults, then I think things would be a bit more peaceful. You run your business and we’ll run ours. No slander, no disrespect, no problems. By the way, as a Brunswick employee, I still go to ABC to bowl on occasion.

I work at this bowling center. We do the best we can with what we’re dealt with. We have made some improvements with the minors drinking alcohol with the wristbands, but face it, we can’t watch everyone. Especially on busy days like Saturdays. I’m sure they have the same problem at ABC also. As for employees stealing money, I have no idea how you got that idea. Not everybody is going to like the changes, but thats a given. Like nick said, we are trying to make a more safe and family friendly environment. I understand why people are mad about the child care services. We did agree on supplying them, but it was not our choice to get rid of the playroom. None of the employees or even the manager of the center had a say in it. It was handed down to us by coperate and had to be done. Our hands were tied. You’ll be lying if you said your kids didn’t like the new games we have and the fact they can actually get prizes now unlike the past.

Because the NEW Owner at ABC Bowl and for 2 yrs now, DO KEEP Their promise to league bowlers! And am sure this scare the hell out of you guys at Brunswick! You know what, instead of wondering, can’t you just stop lying and keep your words for once! regardless how you put it, you are still saving money by getting rid of the play room. Furthermore, the liability is still there when the children run around the bowling center. What are you going to do about that? ARe you going to be the babysitter? or ???

It appears to me that only the employees and league bowlers in charge of the MONEY (which they steal!*) at Brunswick Mo Val bowl are making reveiws on this site, I know they are not regular “Good” bowlers so anyone can lie and say what they want Everyone knows that Brunswick gives alcohol to minors Copy and still can’t match any promo ideas from ABC Bowl and they can’t lower their prices low enough to match ABC Bowl.(that is why they have to create all these lies! They are Scared of ABC Bowl!) They steal money from league bowlers by not showing the figures to league bowlers and when they finally get closed down for allowing bowlers to bring in there own alcohol especially on Saturday (which I will be reproting today, watch out on Saturday!, inspectors will be there!) and the health dept. gives them another F rating and the stealing get so clear they can’t lie their way out where will the bowlers be when their is a league bowler riots and police confiscated them for debt. collection to the league bowlers. It boggles my brain that people who don”t work for ABC Bowl feel like they can dictate to them. ABC Bowl doesn’t go to their place of employment and dictate to them on how to run their business. Most of the employees at Brunswick are disliked by everyone. And league bowlers in charge of the MONEY that is not clear with the money by end of this season will surely be caught and maybe charged with stealing!!! Watch out, stealing may not be a big crime but when you are facing with 200+ of your former friends, you will know the wrath of GOD! And by the way, look at the families that were & is in charge of the money which they steal, oh boy, how God has and continue to punish them!!!! I have bowled lesgue in this center since it originally opened. THE CENTER HAS HAD GOOD AS WELL AS BAD MANAGEMENT. However the disgruntled comments from this sight are the bowlers who are never satisfied and perhaps should take up a new sport. Some decisions for change is made at a corporate level and cannot be stopped, Brunswick is a corp. that dosen’t want to be held liable for children that have been banned from the playroom, perhaps the parents should be parents and taske responsibility for there obnoxious children, if they can’t control them why should Brunswick be responsible for them!!! Grow up and be parents. When I started bowling 35 years ago no bowling alleys had play rooms the parents took care of their children, be disgruntled and go to ABC at least Brunswick doesn’t have shootings and killings that has happened at ABC in the last few years as well as last Friday 1-12-07.

By the way! I just found out that part of our league fees is used to pay “Cleaning”? What is going on! They are lying to us! And NO playroom for kids? Guys, we need to look into these BS!!! Or we need to Move NOW to ABC Bowl!

Comment Date: 12/8/2006 Name: Stupid League Bowler
Guess what! It is confirmed. They are going to take down the play room for kids for sure! This place is going to turn into a zoo! Especially with G & Wee’s kids. OMG! This can’t be happening! How can we bowl in peace! We should have moved! lets go!

Comment Date: 11/21/2006 Name: Pissed League Bowler (Saturday)
OMG! They screw us again! Why didn’t we go to ABC Bowl beginning of this season????? Why??? We are so stupid! Just a bunch of old {deleted} they think they can lied to!!!! NOW, they have no more Play Room here!!!!! How are we going to be sure our kids are safe now????? Have you heard of league bowling time without Play room for kids????? Everyone, we alll should go to ABC Bowl as I suggested at the beginning of the season! ABC Bowl’s owner is a man of his word! I know that by bowling there on Tuesday!!!! He works so hard everyday and he Takes care of us to the point that we gave him a standing ovation during last year’s sweep at Vegas!!!! Man o’ man, why did we stay at this junky Brunswick??? {deleted} them! They can’t get away with all their lies! Let’s move now!!!! I am sure ABC Bowl will take us!!!!!

Comment Date: 11/21/2006 Name: aaron
I been going to ABC Bowl on Alessandro since the new owner purchased it two years ago. I LOVE it! Compare to the OLD Brunswick on Sunnymead, it is no comparision! WE are Paying customers!!! For crying out loud! We have to BEG and “Understand” the workers’ attitude? What is that? The workders are suppose to BE Nice to us??? NO? You guys must be so used to be treated BAD at the OLD Brunswick to think it is OK! Guys & Gals, give ABC Bowl a try! You will be so glad you did! They are so wonderful there!

Comment Date: 11/21/2006 Name: Anonymous
I would say I like the staff at the bowling alley…but I have alot to say about the General Manager. He is very unprofessional and does not know how to treat his staff. He tends to put people on the spot in a very unprofessional manner and not to mention in front of a customers like myself. I would say the bowling alley at times is ran smoothly but the General Managers lack of a professional attitude towards the employees is sour and its sad to see this continue everyday.

Comment Date: 11/20/2006 Name: Ryan Glancy
I worked at Moreno Valley Bowl for two years, the pay wasn’t very good and the benifits s*cked, but if you compare it to ABC Bowl (where I also used to work at) MV Bowl is much better hands down, I found myself there almost every day reguardless if I was working or not, cause I loved the people and I love the atmosphere. The best thing to do when you want to have fun @ MV Bowl is to call ahead and see when it is less busy so the employees can take care of you better. Cause thats usually why they seen so rude its because there so busy.

Comment Date: 11/7/2006 Name: Jason
I still dont believe the lack of service here. My Sister went bowling with her “business manager” They told her she couldnt bowl with knee high boots and a mini skirt. They said the boots arent safe. She walks the streets in these boots for hours in the evenings without problem. She is darn good at her job. I have done business with her before. They should not preclude customers based on their proffession. Her proffession is the oldest proffession around and has honored by soldiers oversea for years.

Comment Date: 11/7/2006 Name: David
I asked Jason to stop posting negative lies about the two moreno valley bowling alleys. He is an employee of a competing alley in the next town. He left the post for another alley. All though the staff here is rude, Jason is just trying stop business for these alleys so he may build business in Riverside.

Comment Date: 11/2/2006 Name: Larry
OK! I had it with this place! I put my kids in their program earlier this month and I am sorry I did that! The staffs are RUDE!!! & that “KID” Coach Jason is a JOKE! So what if he has back to back 300? Can’t coach! From what I heard, the only reason they “Coach” is so that they can get “FREE” Bowling for themselves! Don’t take your kids there! I am going to try ABC bowl accross town! I heard they have excellent “Old Timer” Coach that will take care of your kids! NO more OLD Brunswick for this family! It s*cks!

Comment Date: 11/2/2006 Name: Jason
I hate this place now! They don’t take care of the people they know anymore! So what if we don’t pay to bowl! It is our right and they should take care of us! The Paying Customers are not here EVERYDAY! WE ARE! If you want us to work hard, give us all the FREE bowling we deserve!

Comment Date: 11/1/2006 Name: Mike
Just for your info, we don’t like families with Kids running around in the bowling center. And for all the open bowlers, it is best they don’t come to Brunswick on Sunnymead! We don’t want you here!

Comment Date: 10/29/2006 Name: Jason
This place is GHETTO, I heard they had a shooting & knife fight in the parking lot last week. This is the OLD Brunswick Center on Sunnymead! We know the manager & employee steal money and give their own friends free bowling. We report this to their head office already! Saw the big guys from their head office there 3 weeks ago! Ha! The manager is a lying business man that don’t know how to run a business. DON’T GO HERE, ITS HORRIBLE, YOU’LL REGRET GOING. Don’t even know how to take care of “Paying” customers. GIVE THE PLACE A F———- IT S*CKS

Comment Date: 10/3/2006 Name: Larry
This place is great. Very nice lanes, a clean bowling alley, and friendly staff. They have lots of specials and make it fun for the families. This is my new place to bowl. And my kids love the bowling league I put them in. Try this place out, they are great

Comment Date: 7/14/2006 Name: Shawn
I tried this alley with a friend. We had some trouble with our lane and reported it to the young man at the register. He ignored the fact we were speaking and finally turned around and said, (while holding his cell phone to his ear) I AM ON THE PHONE. JUST A MINUTE JEEZ. Wont be back.

Comment Date: 3/22/2006 Name: chris
that new guy bartender really s*cks! he takes five minutes just to pour a beer! he is useless! No one wants to see a guy behind the bar anyway.

Comment Date: 3/4/2006 Name: Jason
I like the karaoke nights at the bar. John does a good job. He is funny and sings well. Also, the girls behind the bar are nice.

Comment Date: 2/28/2006 Name: Jenn
I like the girls that work the bar. The dance to the music behind the bar. They seem like they enjoy their working environment.

Comment Date: 2/28/2006 Name: annonymous
The bowling alley is cool. The bar staff is really cool, the girls are talkative and funny. Some of them even sing, which is great to see that they enjoy entertaining the patrons as well as serving them. The crowd during cosmic bowling seems a bit too young and rowdy.

Comment Date: 2/6/2006 Name: Anonymous
Employees are no fun. Bowling alleys are better when there are no employees and free games 24/7.

Comment Date: 1/2/2006 Name: David Wilkins
The only real problem I have with Moreno Valley Bowl are the employees. Some don’t know what they are doing and others don’t seem to care. There are a few good ones but most just watch the clock waiting to leave.

Comment Date: 1/1/2006 Name: Kristen
They hace a very busy place. Lots of bowlers from the very small to the seniors. Lots of leagues and good specials during the week. The staff could be more knowlegable and I have never actually seen the pro shop open but overall a good place to to be.

Comment Date: 10/27/2005 Name: Steve
I like the bowling alley but they do have some employees that will ignore any problem brought to them. Ive had excuses that include, ” I am just covering for the other girl, I don’t know how to use the register.” / ” I know it’s frankenbowl today but we are out of hotdogs.” and the proshop is hardly ever open when the sign says it should be. Other than that it’s a great place to bowl. They have lots of leagues and programs for the young and old alike.

I used to work for BRC Moreno Valley and I loved it… I miss everyone from there… they were great… I loved working for Warren! I was sad when he left… there was always so much action there and I miss that!!

I miss Moreno Valley Bowl. I use to work and bowl there, the people who I bowled with and worked with were very good to me. I just wish I could repay them for what they did for me. Moreno valley
Bowl is one very family oriented establishment and has somthing for everyone young and old, so to all at Moreno Valley Bowl I miss you and good luck.

west valley bowl has come along way. the lanes are better than they have been in a long time!! there is no rift raft hanging around anymore. very more peaceful than alot of bowling alleys around!! plus there regular price bowling is the cheapest anywhere!!! only $3.75 a game and $2.50 shoes, other places are $4 or $5 for a game and the shoes as well!! if you ask me i would rather pay $6.25 for a game with shoes then $8-$10 for a game with shoes!!! so if you have had a bad experience in the past thats the past and things are way better now!!!! i hope that you can enjoy the place as much as me, my family and friends do!!!!

Out of all the bowling alleys in the valley like pacific bowl, west lane bowl, manteca bowl, this bowl in tracy is the worst by FAR

Lots of fun @ the West Valley Bowl. Bowling, pool tables & arcades for all ages. In the Lounge we have Karaoke & Dancing every Wed 7:30, Thur 9:00 & Fri 9:30 and live music every Saturday 9:30. A mixed crowd so it’s fun for everyone! Come out and enjoy!!

Comment Date: 1/4/2009 Name: steven
me and my friends bowled here and our machines kept dropping pins so they moved us to other lanes that also gave us problem after problem. we got our money back and will never come back.

your new head Mechanic is doing a great job

who is running the west valley bowl? you have desk people who need a class in edicate. The dress code if there is one is in big trouble.
Rude, I will tell you what rude is, I go to the bowl on the weekends with my friends for cosmic, friday and saturday and on sunday for the cheaper prices. You talk about rude. the desk people are rude. Whoever is in charge needs to stop and look at their business and who is running it for them. If you care about your business you will do some changing before we as customers change where we go for fun.

Comment Date: 11/14/2006 Name: Primetimer
I don’t understand why they didn’t keep Rene as GM. I and alot of others thought she was fantastic. I think it hurt business. Its not the same atmosphere as when she ran it. She’s a great person and loved by many. Many left because they just love her.

Comment Date: 9/21/2006 Name: Bowler4ever
longtime bowler hit the nail on the head.larry that runs the back should be manager. he’s been there a long time. everyone young and old likes him alot. he knows all about the bowling business cause he seen it all good and bad. But the most important part is he really really cares about the Bowl. RENEE AND LARRY would be the team to bring the bowl to what its supposed to be . FUN AND PROFITABLE

Comment Date: 9/7/2006 Name: Longtime bowler
I have to agree with Mr. Saborowski about the new manager that is now supposedly running West Valley Bowl. He does not have the type of business attitude that will help this place. He is rude and has no tack when talking to or repremanding an employee. I have seen how he handles problems and it leaves a lot to be desired. The only thing that is keeping anyone in this bowling alley are the Yadao’s, Becky, and Danielle. They are good staff and really try to make the place family oriented. They need to replace the manager with one of the Yadao’s and I would bet the place would be a lot better.

Comment Date: 8/19/2006 Name: Gene William Saborowski
In past years what this alley lacked was moderization and keeping with the modern times but they made up in customer service with that home town feel. The way they made you feel like family and long lost friends was the persona portraid by the FORMER management and staff. Now they got some old dude they made manager that barks orders all day long but finds the time to do absolutlly nothing. Then theres this promoter chick named Rebecca running around Barefooted and a bunch of rude kids running the front desk that doesnt know the meaning of customer service.
The only positive thing here now is the Y family of Renee, Larry, amd Larry Jr.who still reflect that old charm that once was the norm of those forgotten times. Oh Well, I still have my memories and by God will you please get rid of that Old lazy forever talking manager that embarrasses the staff and customers and the only thing he reflects is a dying and boring invironment.

i was searchin for this bowling alley in yahoo and found this and decidedd to rank it. I beleive this is a real bowling. it has great service and a great place to have fun. cosmic bowling on friday and saturdays is fun. the lanes arent the best but they are getting synthetic so thats great. 3.9/5

Comment Date: 1/7/2006 Name: matt
The bowling experience here is very fun. The lanes feel a lot better than the ones in Manteca. The customer service is great which makes up for some lane problems that might occur once in a while. Cosmic bowling is extremely fun with 2 sections on Saturday. Their restaurant and bar are also great with a pro shop. Recommended highly. Decent prices too!

We had a great time at the bowl and have on many occasions seen great bands and watched some really good Kareoke singers. They have food there many nights and had a great potluck BBQ with a band called Slackenloader. They rocked!

My Family and I were bowling (about 15 bowlers)and we were interrupted by a worker of your place named Cindy. We told her we would talk after we finished but she wouldn’t stop bugging us. Finally my uncle said “later for this place”, and we left. We won’t be back until she’s gone. My dad said when we first walked in we thought the place was beautiful, but because of rude Cindy when we left the place is ugly.

Sierra lanes is a joke ! They fired some employees for no reason …… a bunch of self centered millionaires own the place who don’t even care that those people are now going on unemployment Why don’t they focus on the broken down lanes and get leagues going again. They really **ck!!!!!

This bowling alley is a joke! I was at the bar I ordered a beer it was 3.50 not bad I had a few the bartender (a guy)got a beer for some one else. Looked like a regular he only charged him like 2 bucks I noticed him ringing it up and a couple times he put it in his tip can but he charged me 3.50 every time … he looked kinda high on something always outside smoking. And he was very rude he had no personality. What a joke. I don’t think I’ll go back. Well maybe if I become a regular ill get my beer next to nothing So maybe I will? Ill go when he doesn’t work. He’s a jerk. I heard there is a woman bartender who is awesome ill try an go when she works. Who ever the boss is, is blind cause this guy is ripping you off

We came for a birthday party about s month ago or so. It was nice place but the lanes kept breaking we had to move lanes. It seems as though no one was in charge. I heard the place was locally owned. With all the advertisement that is displayed on each lane you think the money could help with repairs or it probably goes in there pockets. What happened to all the leagues ? Isn’t there any children leagues? I remember when the bowling alley was busy and you had to wait for a lane this place needs help.

Comment Date: 1/10/2013 Name: Anonymous
This place needs help. It seems like a nice bowling alley but every time we needed help there was no body at the front desk. He was at the bar area drinking a beer or outside smoking. The snack bar wasn’t open we wanted fries or some munches. We ended up leaving wasn’t what we thought it would be. Bad experience. Who owns this place? They need to know there business s*cks. Is there a manager in this place. Hmmm.

Comment Date: 1/3/2013 Name: J. E
The place needs a general manager desperately. It seems the employees have no work ethics. We came in thru the bar and I guess the bowling didn’t open for about 15 min or so.. We had kids and adults the guy at the desk wouldn’t set us up lanes until then or even turn the games on for the kids he decided texting on his phone was more important. Couldn’t understand ? The bar was open and the bartender set us up With beer and sodas Even asked the guy at the desk to get are lanes but he said not until 4. It was 5 min till 4. Wow and you wonder why the bowling alley is going in the dirt. They have bad customer service. Will never go back.
