We had a company party at Pullman’s Bowling Center, and had the greatest time we have ever had for a company party. The food was excxellent and the service was extremely good and friendly. I would strongly recomment Pullams’s. By the way we had 105 people and they had no problems. All were staified, In fact we have set up for next year!!

Yes, this time it is me!! Both of you sound like little children fighting. Mr.T, & Past Pro Sop Employee. Thanks for your support Past Employee and thanks Mr. T, I have had several people comment about you and are comming in for equipment. Like I said little children! No matter what either of you say, people are not stupid and will see through the BS, and will want to try Karens Shop, and will find out why it is the best for a reason! Both of you grow up!
Also, when I write on this website, I am either Management or Paul. Please make a mental note! That way you can address me properly and not make stupid accusations!

Ok … “James” .. Want to blog?… Lets blog!..
…read again what you posted ..
Did she denied you looking at the grip? Did she deny you doing the adjustment? Then how is that bad customer service? How is it Shame on Karen? So the adjustment she did wasn’t enuf at the time you bowled. She didn’t drill YOUR ball! Why wouldn’t you get it checked again if it still hurts your thumb and you can’t put it all the way? Why? Why wouldn’t you? .Ya know, It does sometimes take a few to get the justments just right. Bowling Equiptment is pricey and nothin I hate more, than a grip that is not correct. But too say the things you say and not take it to them to have it adjusted again? Yes! even again! Well? Well? Huh? Sad!!!
I read the posts that are put not only on Karens Place but all the Bowling Centers in the Utah and Other States I have bowled at and its really sad to hear about. Sad experences we have all put ourselfs in because its easer to blame or accuse or make it someone elses fault than to put the blame on ourselfs.

James, please bring ball in for me to review. The span may be ok, but the pitches could be making the differenc. Thank you for your past patronage and let’s get this correct!! If ever you are having trouble with one of our products, WE DO STAND BEHIND YOU 100% Karen

James this doe not sound like Karen. She is generally the opposite. I would take it back to her again and have her check it. I have purchase equipment from her for 15 yrs, and if any problem she has gone out of her way to fix. Be smart take it back and ask her!!

Comment Date: 10/8/2010 Name: James
LAZY, does not do what customer requests! Karen may have many certifications and awards. But when it comes to customer service with a client who purchases a ball and needs something fixed, she is no good. My ball was fitted and drilled too stretched for my hand out by one of her employees. I realized this when someone asked why I was putting my thumb in half way, and when my brother’s ball’s holes, which were drilled by Karen, where closer together than mine. His hands are bigger than mine! I told her this, she told me my my holes are fine, opened up the hole a little, and sent me on my way. My thumb still hurts too much to bowl with it all the way inserted. My brother’s does not hurt me. Shame on you Karen! I will never use or refer her pro shop to anybody! I’d rather pay someone else to have it done right.

I read all the comments posted on here. I am actuall very disapointed with some of them. I work for Karen Pullma’s Bowling Center in the beginning of 07′ in the Gutter Ball Grill. Paul and Karen are very decent people. They would do anything for anybody if they could. I enjoyed working for them and would love to go back. When you work in a place were all sort’s of people come in, there are going to be different kinds of crowds. For most part the people that come in there are there to have fun and enjoy them self’s. There are others who just take the whole thing out of control. People would enjoy to go to Karen Pullman’s if they take that step and go and not take other people’s comments to heart and take that chance to have fun. They have allot of awesome things for kids and even for us adults. The workers are the nicest workers you could find and every worker I work with seem to give more then there share. For you looking for a fun place for your family, friends, kids or to just have fun. Please go you would not be disapointed. Merry Christmas to you all.

Hey T – I want to know what you have been smoking. Me and my friends bowl all the time at Pullman’s and we have never noticed anyone that works there to be upity. The only ones we have noticed to be upity are the really good bowlers. They act like they are better than anyone else. Everyone that works at Pullmans that me and my friends have dealt with have treated us great, especially the young lady who works the desk during the day. I think she works every Thursday and Friday. By the way, I haven’t seen her there lately. I hope she hasn’t quit because she is part of the reason why we bowl at Pullmans. We are not good bowlers but she encourages us to do better, is always friendly towards us and even remembers our names and makes us feel like we are important. That means a lot to us that are not good bowlers.

Comment Date: 7/7/2009 Name: T
If it wasn’t for Jordan in the pro shop I probabley would not come into the center. Everyone there is so upity and he is down to earth and knows what he is doing. Keep it up bro.

I must agree with this writer, you should not have to put up with this poor attitude, and neither will we. This is not this persons regular shift, and he was filling in for our great young lady who had a family party. Our apologies to Kathy and friends!! The only way we can find out these things is for you to call Karen so we can correct the problem. Again please accept our apology!

We went to Pullman’s Bowling Center last Saturday night to bowl Sonix after we got out of the show. We walked in the center about 10:45 p.m. and was told by the guy working the desk that they were closed. We asked him if they did not stay open until midnight and he got really rude and smart mouthed to us and said he could close any time he wanted to. So we had no choice but to leave. We have bowled in your center before and really like it. Unfortunately we will not be returning because we do not need to be treated rudely by an obnoxious and rude employee.

We do not coach while league is going, because we coach one half hour prior to, at no charge to youth for coaching time. To coach while league is in progress only creates frustration, and confusion because you are not able to stay with youth athletic. We do offer alot of perks to our youth, including many, many free games, shirts and we now have a WALL of fame with pictures and achievements for our in-house youth bowlers. I am not the male owner refered to,but an employee, all I can say is he is 1000 percent behind all the youth, just not our bowlers!

Comment Date: 5/27/2009 Name: Current Youth Parent
Both owners have been active in the youth jr programs for many years and they have both dedicated alot of of there time to teach the Jr Bowlers the fundamentals of the game. There is also not one other Jr program that offers a min of 20 mins of teaching before the league begins and have 1 certified coach per lane that works with each Bowler on a one on one basis. The owners have never tried to bribe any Jr bowler or there families, All they have done is set a higher standard to improve the Jr program and give the other propritors something to think about and something for them to try to keep up. Both owners have such a dedication and confindence in all of there Jr bowlers that they paid for multiple teams to participate in the City and State tournaments, I never heard of any other propritor even consider that. I have also never seen another owner allow the Jr Bowlers practice for both tournaments(either for free or for a minimum fee) and now will be doing the same for the Jr National Tournament and they dont limit it to bowlers that bowl at there center they open it up to all Jr bowlers. And in regards to caoching while they are bowling league there are certain restrictions that they must uphold but they do coach during league and if any Jr asks for help either the owners will be there or one of there other coaches. My kids have bowled in a few differenct Jr programs and Pullmans hands down with the dedication and devotion to the Jr program all thou not the largest one but the best program the the state

Comment Date: 5/27/2009 Name: FORMER YOUTH PARENT
Obviously you have not been in the youth program there very long. We left because they would not coach during league and the male owner was abnoxious and could never say anything nice about anybody. so it looks like now all they are doing is using bribery to get the youth to stay there. Is that really helping the youth?

Comment Date: 4/12/2009 Name: YOUTH PARENT
These people do more for the youth than any other center in the state. They have numerous certified coaches working with the youth, so these children are advancing very fast. I would recommend!!!!!! strongly putting youth athletic in their program. They also have paid for both state and city tour. As many as ten teams. No other center pay for even one! Try them you will like them!

what you forget is, included in the price is a more elaborate laser program with fog, and also the fact pullmans give prizes for strikes with their colored head pins. also, the overall atomsphere is much better and much much cleaner!! their food also is great!! sometime you must evalute what is involved in a price, they offer alot more for the dollar, at least i feel so!

Comment Date: 12/31/2008 Name: bowler
the only problem i have with the center is the price for sonix bowling i went there and it was ok the lights were cool and the pattern thing was sweet but it was $5.00 a game and so i went up to olympus hills where there sonix bowling is later and it $10 for as many games u can bowl i just find it easer (even though it is further away) i will go somewhere else just on the price and you cant even hear the music very well Fatcats and olympus hills are way louder and cheaper

I always find it amusing that people who want to slander do it with an “anonynous” name tag. This tends to be called “passive-aggessive.” So, to Mr or Ms anonymous who posted that Karen and Paul talk “smack” about everyone when they leave, have you considered perhaps mentioning something to them? I am not hanging around the Pullman’s to hear what they are saying all day long, so I can neither defend nor confirm your accusations. However, the important part of a business is customer service. Please be aware that “smack” is being talked about you by everyone who serves you, including the person who gives you your big mac, movie tickets and oil change…even if they do it with a smile, but the customer service they give you to your face is what really matters the most. And I have received GREAT customer service at this bowling center. Realizing that times get busy and sometimes things take patience from all parties involved, they do pretty good. Besides, what makes someone else more priviledged to not have to wait like everyone else at times. You can’t always please everyone, but if you can please 51%, then it’s not half bad!

I want to complement Karen Pullman’s for the way they treated and accomadated our Mothers and Son party. We had about 300 people, most all eat at the Center. The service was out standing, food was great, and we had a tremondous time bowling. I would not hesitate going back!

I must say I am a USBC bowler and Karen taught me when I paid for Lessons.(learned alot) I had to wait sometimes myself Big Deal). I buy all of my gear form Karen’s Proshop. I have bowled at bountiful bowl in a leage. Then some after that I had to stop bowling for 2 years because of health reasons. I have always remembered Karen and HOW busy it must be to go from a small shop to building a bowling center!!! The doctors say I can Bowl again or at least Try. I have a freind that wants me to join her HC mixed team. I know the rules of the USBC. Give Karen A Chance she’s smart enough to figure these issues out!!!!!! I was one of the contractors that was there once and a while. I didn’t know of karen exept her Small super packed proshop she had. My point. It has only been what 5 Years??? You run a bowling alley for 5 years think of her P&L; could you do better??? If so how come you don’t have your own bowling center!!!!!!!!! BRAD FRITZ

It is nice to see the the extra work you are doing in the Center. New tile, painting, completely going through the kitchen making it, and even the grill spick snd span. This is one of the reasons we would not go anywhere else. This Center is light , bright and extremely clean. And great for children as far as safety is concerened. Thanks and see you Sat!!!!!

Karen Pullman’s is the best center in the valley, especially if you have children learning to bowl. The Saturday mornings league is excellent. There are adult coaches watching, and juinor coaches even on the lanesat least one coach a pair, trying to get to a coach a lane. The employees are concerned about the juniors having a good experience and learning to bowl. I’ve been to nearly every other alley in the valley, and Karen’s is easily the best alley out there, even with only 16 lanes. About the prebowling issue, if you call in ahead and ask for a time they’ll have a pair open, they’ll save you a pair at the scheduled time. Just have their number in your phone and call before you drive up.

We love Pullman’s center! The Saturday morning juniors league is awesome! If you have children that want to learn how to bowl the right way sign them up. You can’t beat 20 minutes of free instruction by certified bowling instructors each week.
From personal experience I can tell you that the Pullman’s are interested in your children developing a love for bowling that will last a lifetime.
Thank you Karen and Paul for all you have done to teach my children how to bowl!

We were bowling on the holiday and we were waiting for some friends and we were standing by the desk waiting for them. We read the comment about the child being blatenly ignored. We never once witnessed that the whole time we were standing there and we were there for a good half hour or more. People were not ignored, they were politely told to wait and they would be helped as soon as possible. A minute or two can seem like ten minutes or more. We are not saying anyone is wrong here. We just have to realize that when a business is slammed we are not going to get as quick of service as we would when business is slow.

Comment Date: 2/2/2008 Name: Jon
Ok all you bowlers, there has been enough mud slinging comments made about this past holiday. You can’t change what has happened so give it a rest. Whats done is done. However, my friends and I were bowlers on that day and the biggest thing we noticed was parents turning their kids loose to do whatever they wanted. The parents were to busy socializing with each other to notice their kids running around everywhere, even on to the lanes, hitting reset buttons which allowed rakes to be hit and getting in other bowlers ways while they tried to bowl. Obviously you are not happy bowling here and we get the picture so go somewhere else and get on with your life. We have and we will continue to bowl at Pullmans.

Comment Date: 2/1/2008 Name: Anonymous
Unfortunately, I think you did witness someone with a bad attitude who butted in line teaching their children the wrong things. However, you have the wrong gal. We waited in line like everyone else, got helped like everyone else. It was steady, but not crazy busy. There was no one else even behind us. Had a problem when we went to the lane to start with. When my child went to the desk to get shoes, he waited in line like he has been taught to do and when it was his turn, the desk person ignorned him. She talked to someone else that came up after him, she watched what was going on around her, he waited patiently. After 10 minutes of him standing there, I finally went up there and it was not until then did she address him (even though I heard him as I was walking up try and talk to her) about what he needed. I certainly don’t expect to be helped if it isn’t my turn or if something of more urgency is needing to be taken care of. But when you are blatenly ignored, I get concerned. I am definately not one of those parents you referred to in your comments.

Comment Date: 2/1/2008 Name: A concerned bowler
As a bowler I know how busy and crazy it can get in a bowling center during any given holiday. I am out of school on holidays and holidays are the only time I can bowl. Sometimes I have to be put on a waiting list because it is so busy and I don’t mind waiting. I have noticed that when more than one person is working the desk people get helped a lot quicker and lane issues are taken care of faster but when there is only one person working the desk, especially when it is so busy, it takes longer to resolve an issue or help someone. You bowlers have to realize that the desk help is not only there to help you but they have to watch what is going on with the lanes while they are helping you and take care of those lane issues. Why can’t we be a little more patient and understanding with each other and get along, especially when it is so busy?

Comment Date: 2/1/2008 Name: Anonymous
I have bowled at many bowling centers, and while I do not consider myself an expert bowler, I do find it frustrating when parents send their children to the front desk by themselves. I know that children need to develop social skills, but it is really frustrating for me and my fellow bowlers when a kid will walk upto the front desk with out their parents. How is the desk help suppose to know if the child has even paid to bowl and if so, how is the desk clerk suppose to know if the child is entitled a pair of shoes? In my opinion it is up to the parents to be responsible for their children, and should not send their chidren up to the front desk without parental supervision. I have bowled numerous times on days when the kids are out of school and many of the parents will bring their children in to bowl, and I do believe that bowling is an excellent family entertainment, but it is not a time for parents to sit and socialize while their kids are running around wild. Most children have no idea of what bowling etiquete is, and it is up to the parents to make sure that their children are not disruptive to bowlers on adjacent lanes. Case in point, I was having one of my best games when an unsupervised child crossed over into my lane, I was lucky that my ball did not hit the child and I almost fell over attempting to recover. Needless to say my game was ruined and my concentration was disturbed. I looked over to see the parents all seated at a table, totally unaware of their disruptive children. My point is: there is nothing wrong with parents sharing a bowling outing with their children, but the parents should not expect the desk help to baby sit their unruly children. Also if their children need help from the front desk, the parents shuold go to the front desk with their children.I am a parent and I know my children always got better and prompter atttention when I went with them, it also was a good example for my children in problem solving.

Comment Date: 2/1/2008 Name: Anonymous
I am a concerned bowler reading all of these negative comments. If you people have issues why don’t you address them when they happen instead of waiting a week or two after the fact and then writing about it instead of facing the person you have issues with? I have bowled at this center several times on holidays and it does get very busy. It is a mad house to be exact. I have noticed that the desk help has a lot of things to deal with and that is very difficult, especially when it is busy and they get slammed. They have to deal with lane breakdowns, ball returns and other lane problems as well as trying to get people out on lanes to bowl. A lot of times there is only one person working the desk and that is a lot to handle for just for one person. Maybe it’s a lot to ask but why don’t you complainers try asking if there is something you can do to help instead of standing there and getting mad?

Comment Date: 2/1/2008 Name: Anonymous
I was visiting from out of state and went with my friends to Karen Pullmans Bowling Center on Martin Luther King Day. It was very busy and I have got to hand it to the desk help they got people out to bowl quickly and was very friendly. I have read the comments about how rude the help is and I never noticed any of that going on. What one person thinks is rudeness another person thinks is friendly. If one or more people have an issue with being treated rudely why don’t you confront the person that you think is being rude face to face right when it happens instead of writing about it weeks after the incident?

Comment Date: 1/29/2008 Name: Tired of Rude Customers
I was brousing, when I discovered this lady’s complaint and believe that it woulld be appropriate if I explained what I witnessed on Martin Luther King Day at Karen Pullman’s Bowling Center.
The lady who issued this complaint was a very pushy and overly expectant parent that wanted her issues taken care of with no regard for the over worked girl that was running the desk.
It was obviously a busy hloiday and the kids were out of school. There was one girl at the desk that was going above and beyond her best to address cutomers concerns. I was patiently waiting my turn, when this lady buts her way in and starts making demands on the girl at the desk. To say this lady was rude and inconsiderate of the other customers waiting in line would be an understatement at best. It required a great deal of restraint to keep from telling this lady off and tell her to wait her turn. I could tell by the comments from other customers that were waiting, that this lady thought that the world revolved around her and her child.
I must admit that I am relieved that this lady wrote her complaint so that I might address my concern about rude, self indulged, and inconsiderate parents that set bad examples for their children. When parents treat adults rudely, then the children grow up believing that this is accepted social behavior (no wonder that we have a generation of children that feel they are entitled to everything). Parents need to teach their children patience and respect and that the world does not revolve around them.
We all need to get along and teach our children by being good examples!!!!!!

I have kids that bowl the youth league – Wonderful league, great desk help, no problems. HOWEVER, I brought my family in to bowl on the MLK holiday and the lady at the desk (different than the youth league) was RUDE, ignored my child when he went up to get shoes, and treated us very poorly. I will continue to go to the youth league for my children, but I will go elsewhere for family time bowling.

Comment Date: 1/28/2008 Name: Anonymous
I want to comment on MLK day. I was there with my family and I saw what was going on. It was very busy there and the girl at the desk was working by herself doing her best. Not once did I see her being rude and I was there for quite a while. If anyone is rude it is the customers. They are impatient and insensitive. So what if your child got ignored. Does the employees have to stop what they are doing just to pay attention to your child. There are other customers needing the employees help you know. Why don’t you customers put yourselves in the employees place for once and see what they have to go through. I am so sick and tired of people saying how rude the help is. Why don’t you people take a good look at yourselves. Did you ever stop to think that it is you that is geing rude?

I read the ad where the gutterball grill inside Pullman’s Bowling Alley said they had fresh cut fries. I went to test them! These wewre the best fries I have ever had and the rest of the food is great, and best of all very low priced! Try them you will like them. Great food. PS I am not a bowler, but will continue to eat lunch and sometimes dinner there. Great food!

My son is in their program, we were in another one first, and I must say there are some good Jr. Leagues in the town, but NO ONE COMES CLOSE TO THE COMPLETE “PROGRAM” and the Pullman Center. Jr. or Adults, this is the only place to go.

If you want tp learn to bowl properly, go to Pullmans and sign up either for youth or adult lessons. These people know what they are doing. Karen is a Gold USBC coach, and is nationaly reconized. The Jr. program is by far the best in this state. Go in ask and you will see why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

excellent service. That young man Eddie spent hours helping me lots with my balls and even changed my grips so I can come out easier. Many thanks to all that work there.

With only 16 lanes in the alley, it is hard to get any time to practice. Durring the week there are other leagues and on the weekends there are birthday parties.

I am looking for a nice affordable bowling alley. Some review said this place had decent prices but I never did see exactly how much a game and shoe rental cost. Anyone know?

I read the comment left by the motor cycle person, and all I can say is “THANK GOODNESS” the Pullmans watch carefully who is in and around their bowling establishment. I have young children and feel very safe because of the diligence and care. Thanks Pullmans!

Customer service? Are you kidding? I pulled up during a rainstorm on my motorcycle and was INSTANTLY met by a greasy employee who told me that if I wasn’t there to bowl, I would have to leave. I agree, but refuse to spend my money at a place who treats me like garbage BEFORE I even step in the door. I put my rain gear back on, and spent the evening at the movie theater instead. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE.

I am one of the owners and was on hand when these two fine young ladies came to bowl. It is posted and we stick to the fact BUMPERS are for children 8 yrs. and under. The older kind will bend and break the bumpers, due to their strength. They did send me an e-mail where they said eveyone in the center was laughing at them. The center was very busy and we were running our colored head pin prize, colored head pin appears and you get a strike and we give , a drink, free fry, or free game. We felt bad for these two and actually gave them a free fry for just hitting the head pin. During the summer we do not open our cafe until 1:pm, now changed to 11:30 am as business now warrants it. We wanted the kids to have a good experience and they have taken it completely out of context. I responded to their e-mail, and did explain same as above and apoligize for the mix up. We would love to have them come back in and have OUR MOTO “YOU MUST HAVE FUN”, and our people like it. Again sorry for misunderstanding hope this again helps.! Our prices are probably the lowest for a new Center, and the youth receive a discount from our regular price.

This was the worst bowling experience we have ever had. We are not just saying this. They had terrible prices, service and would not grant 2 12 year olds bumpers. We will never be returning back ever. However we do suggest you change your attitude and rules.

Well I would first like to say that the Derek person really has no clue what he is talking about. I have been to Karen’s numerous times and they have been nothing but friendly to me and my family. The center is one of the nicest in the Western United States by far, with a very large pro shop, and an amazing snack bar! The owners are always happy, and make sure that everyone is having a great time, and if we are not, they make sure we are happy, and are enjoying our time there. I hope everyone will give Karen Pullman’s Bowling Center a try, you will LOVE it and want to keep going back for more fun!

Karen Pullman’s is the best place to bowl at cuz its a great price and the lanes are great also. The ball return is back so u dont have to worry about where to stand. Also the food is great, the fries I could eat all day along with the hotdogs. Its lit up and its keep very clean. Even though it only has 16 lanes the lanes are kept up. This is the place (and really only place) I like to bowl. And finally the people who work there are really friendly and want to help you learn to bowl

pullmans center is by far one of the nicest centers in the salt lake area, with by far the nicest, most knowledgeable staff i have ever dealt with. the food is great, the lanes are always prepped nicely with a consistant shot. a first rate facility by far.

This is the best bowling alley in Salt Lake City. It is very clean and the environment is relaxing and fun. The food is great and the owners are so helpful and kind, greeting me everytime I come. The price is afforable so I can bowl often. The lanes are kept the very best by the employees. I bowl every week here and the conditions, lanes, and equipment are kept up exceptionally well. I recommend this bowling alley to anyone who really enjoys a fun and exciting day of bowling, whether you are a 200 bowler or a beginner, it’s the place to go.

My family and I vist this establishment on a regular basis. The people are very curtious, helpfull, and their food is great, fresh cut fries, hurray not frozen! I have a handicapped child, and these people treat her like a million dollars. When I read a comment like Mr. Derek, wrote, I wonder what he must have done to insite the people at Karen’s Bowling Center to be anything but great? They greet all the customers as they enter, converse with them, and go from alley to alley making sure people are enjoying themselfs. I would suggest that before any other people believe Mr. Derek, that they visit the Pullman alley in person!! Thank you for the opportunity to state MY opinion.

What a beautiful Center. My work has had 2 work partys at Karen’s and have had nothing but a good time. The staff is wonderful, polite, and very educated about the game.

After reading the other reviews on this site I thought I would add my opinion about Karen Pullman’s Pro shop and Bowling Center. I have been there various times with friends and family. Those times were always filled with fun and laughter (and sometimes with tears when I would get the occassional gutter ball). The staff was always polite and helpful, even going out of there way to offer tips on how to get better. We were always greeted with a smile and a friendly hello. The atmosphere was warm and comfortable. My friends and family are looking forward to returning for more fun and great bowling.
