Thanks for the kind words. Just to keep everyone informed, we just received our Brand NEW Houseballs….. all 100 of them. They should be available for use sometime this weekend…. and keep in mind, Summer Leagues are now forming! Stop by our desk or website for details!

forgot to say something…the birthday parties!!! If you want the easiest, funnest option for a kid’s party seriously have it here. We had 2 different ones this year one with katie helping and one recently with laura and they were both a huge help. Never thought I could handle 20+ crazy, screaming 7 year old kids but it was a breeze. Ok we’re really done plugging this place now…

This place is my favourite in RI, it feels a lot more family oriented and way friendlier overall than any other bowling alley we’ve been to, more “normal” than other bowling alleys if you know what I mean. We’ve been going every saturday night with some other couples and since we started this tradition a year or two ago we’ve pretty much made it every week. We’re always treated great, even when the place is packed with people katie and kevin always take care of us and unlike other bowling alleys we’ve been to you can tell they actually appreciate seeing you come back, always talk to you, always tell you to have a good night (everyone else seems to be like this too we just haven’t learned all of their names yet!). Other people have caught on to OML’s greatness too we noticed…as we started recognizing the same people every week and even made friends with and now drink & bowl with some of them! The food and drinks are awesome too and that’s why we haven’t looked back after discovering this place.

More like “never bowler of oml”. Yeah place is a real dump new tables, new furniture, new carpet, new balls and lights coming. Everything is new in the bowling center and if not it’s on its way. If you consider this place a dump I dont know what you’d call most of the other places. The owner bowls in our league and is a nice guy so I’m guessing you’re either jealous or competition? Past few weekends I’ve went to rock and bowl? Huge wait for a lane without a reservation so they do something right.

RE: message 3/1/12 – ok the jig is up. You are either a disgruntled ex employee or a jealous competitor because OML has never been better. New lanes, high scores, new look, great food and cheap drinks, and a friendly staff and owner makes me a happy customer…5 star rating!

Yeah one of the best alleys in RI is a dump and these guys run 2 of the best in the state. Riiight… Who’s the moron?

I don’t know what you’re talking about, but this is a great center. Newly renovated, clean, friendly staff, and lots of specials! Been bowling here for years and have no plans to leave any time soon.

OML is a nice clean house with friendly staff, whether its the waitress, counter or restaurant. Pretty much all remodeled inside with flooring, seats, etc. Oil pattern is overall easier, but there are certainly nights that they have a tournament pattern. Atmosphere is certainly better than NK, Lang’s and Cranston.

We appreciate the great comments. We are still in the process of trying to improve certain things around the building. We will have new R&B; lights coming soon, as well as simplified pricing menus around the building as we convert to digital signage. We will be sticking to the tried and true specials that work, all the while trying a few new things here and there. As for you concerns about the manager (myself) not being there, I would just say, that I try to be there as much as possible while trying to maintain some kind of social life. I make every effort to be there during leagues, outside of Mondays as I bowl in another center with the owner. We appreciate your concerns and comments and will try to make an effort to address such issues in the future.

I think the kids at the desk are great they’re genuinely nice and helpful but I agree with the lack of leadership, it seems like there’s no one in charge most nights there should always be a manager on the floor.
Oml is looking nice with the new carpets but I disagree that they need more promotions and specials, I know my family at least doesnt need 20 options for bowling with some gimmicky flier just keep things simple and keep making the place better some suggestions- tv sports packages out on the lanes, new disco lights, new balls, waitress on the lanes, bouncer or some kind of peacekeeper for lanes and the bar. Changes like these to improve the base experience along with continued excellent customer service will keep us coming back not a flashy advertisement. Just a friendly suggestion from a loyal customer in a similar business, looking forward to see what you guys have planned next.

This could be a great center with some better leadership/monitoring of the employees. I enjoyed bowling for FREE but i dont know why it was….I also think they have the same things every other place has thats close, whether it be packages or promotional stuff. Maybe more original ideas would gravitate people more, idk i dont run an alley so maybe thats just the way it is everywhere.

Love this place! Great place unwind after the work week!

Comment Date: 12/6/2011 Name: Anonymous
I have to agree. The manager is there all the time. I’ve bowled all over the place, and I see the manager more at this center than any other center I have ever bowled at.

This bowling center is looking real nice these days. New lanes, returns, floors, and friendlier staff. Machinery runs great. Owner says bar renovations are next. Keep it up OML !

I’ve been bowling in leagues here since back in the 80’s, great place, great ownership and very nice staff. The one thing about the place they need to address is the manager, he never seems to be around. I probably wouldn’t even know who he is if I didn’t bowl bowl in another league with him at another center. A lot of us all have realized that he lies a lot and it’s hard to get a straight answer out of him, he tells one thing if you ask but then never gets back to you or forgets or you don’t see him until weeks later, and it’s like that with anything you need him with from what I’ve been told. Making roster changes or asking a scoring question never used to be so difficult when it was just Bobby running the leagues, he would never have given you the run around and his son has also looked things up for me several times no problem when he did our scores. I love OML it’s still the best center in RI, been going here all my life, my parents have since it was built, but please address this one problem he is not very popular with us league bowlers nice guy and all but come on!!

They’re currently putting in a new floor in the seating area, new tables and seats and new carpet up top before leagues start and say new bowling balls too. These guys always have projects going on to make it better you know they care about the place.

I go here on a regular basis. It is a fantastic facility and the staff are very friendly!

Comment Date: 4/24/2011 Name: Nick
Nice. Only met one employee that I didn’t like. And he was old and probably retiring soon. They are currently renovating, but small things. New house balls, new scoring system, new keypads, new monitors, new flooring, and the building will be open through all of this. They already have new synthetics. Gotta love the fact that the owner takes so much pride in the place.

I have bowled in several leagues throughout the state and have to say I think the machines work just as good as the other RI centers, better than some, but then again I have bowled in many houses and realize that some breakdowns are inevitable anywhere but basically every night I’ve been there bowling they have a guy down back specifically to fix lanes if they get stuck and definitely for all the leagues I’ve bowled in. Their monitors are old, but I could care less about silly graphics, as long as they have sports on the flatscreens in between the scoring monitors I’m good. I can’t say I’ve interacted with the manager too much but they have a few really nice kids that work up at the desk at night who have always been beyond accommodating to me and my friends. I actually live in Westerly but take the drive up to OML instead almost 100% of the time because I’m always treated well, have fun bowling, and between the familiar faces that work there and the other bowlers it feels a lot more friendly, almost like a family, and you definitely don’t get that at a lot of bowling centers around here. Then again I know from experience that bowlers can be a fickle bunch so I wouldn’t expect all to appreciate these things like I do.

Comment Date: 1/27/2011 Name: Anonymous
this place is showing its age as of late. the pin machines don’t work very good, and if you need them fixed the guy has to take his sweet time to walk down and fix it. the manager guy is never around and is usually hiding some where in the back. the scoring monitors look like they were from the 60’s and most of the bowling balls are all chewed up. the food is usually good and pretty cheap. bowling is kinda expensive for the atmosphere you receive there. overall i would give it a 2 out of 5.

Well, I must say! I bowl in a league at Walnut Hill Bowl in Woonsocket and love it there, and I also love OML! I get the league discount there too. And the bowling alley and equipment are VERY nice. One downside is that the pins always seem to be old, but I really don’t give a ****. I love it here and at Walnut Hill Bowl! They are both owned by the same guy 😛

I’m bowling again this Fall for the 8th year in a row and can’t wait. I really love this place there are some wonderful people to bowl with and the employees have always been very nice as well. I’ve also found myself eating in their coffee shop a lot more, it has a nice homey feel to it, the food is great and they have a good variety of specials too. When I first moved to Wakefield my friends told me I had to check out the bowling alley because it’s been in town forever and they all grew up with it. When you go in you can see this place is important to the community from the children, URI students, or seniors, literally people of all ages that are bowling and eating there. Some of these people have only just started coming and some have been coming daily since 1960. Even in the 15 years I’ve lived in town a ton of businesses have come and gone but I think I can safely say that Old Mountain is the only one that would be devastating loss for everyone if it ever closed. After years spent here I would recommend it to anyone, it is more than just a bowling alley or restaurant, but a part of the towns history, and a staple of the community, it IS South Kingstown.

Can’t wait for spring leagues to start, our team is getting some sweet shirts made up and we have big plans to take that first place $$$

Rock N’ Bowl is wicked fun, and now they have big TVs down on the lanes and play music videos + take requests. We go to burger bowl almost every sunday and have been for a couple years now because it’s such a good deal, and the guys that work at the desk have always been very polite and accommodating to us which is probably why I see the same groups of people coming back every week just like we do. In boring SK this is the most fun you’re going to find, especially if you’re old enough to grab some drinks from the bar.

Comment Date: 12/15/2009 Name: Brian Jeffries
There are new lanes and the owners have other renovation plans in the works. There are two great restaurants, and it’s not the “typical” alley food. Everything from burgers to prime rib, fresh seafood. The “Burger Bowl” on Sundays is lots of cheap fun.

Comment Date: 9/22/2009 Name: Melanie Post
I have to disagree about the food there, I eat there all the time when I bowl and along with the basic bowling alley fare like burgers, pizza, club sandwiches, etc they also have great food you wouldn’t expect at an alley like caesar salads, chicken parm, lots of good seafood (expecially the lobster rolls) and they have a lot of great specials, especially the pasta dishes they do. When I’ve brought friends along for the first time they are put off at the idea of eating at a bowling alley but by the time we leave they always change their tune.

It is a very nice place to bowl. Good service, quality equipment, ect. The only downside to Old Mountain Lanes is that the restraunts there are not the best, so I would strongly encourage eating before but everything else is great!!!!

I bowl in a league here, it’s an awesome time having a couple drinks, bowling, and trying to win some money. I look forward to it every week.

old mountain lanes is a great place to bowl if you go after 9 or is it 10, you might want to check, they turn off the lights and have disco and other cool lights lighting up the place its really fun to go night bowling

Comment Date: 3/1/2008 Name: Alex
I just call before I go there to see if they have leagues, saves a wasted trip if the place is full.

Comment Date: 1/3/2008 Name: David
Looks like a great place, but they should post on the internet what nights they have leagues before you drive 45 minutes to fine out no lanes are available.

This is the most fantastic fun I have had in my life. I love the bowling shoes they are terrific. Also if u attend OML the grilled cheeses are fantastic

Comment Date: 9/1/2007 Name: kb
Changed my mind. I think 2.25 a game and no charge for shoes is an awesome deal. Thanks OML!

Comment Date: 6/26/2007 Name: kb
I think you should be a little more community minded and provide discounts to people who are in need like group homes. I know $2.25 does not seem like a lot of money but if you have 8=10 kids that you need to take some where it adds up. I just think it would be a cool idea for you to provide those who made need it with some help to be able to have an enjoyable evening.

This is the best bowling alley I have ever been to in and I always have a great time. Also, the desk staff are probably the best human beings I have met in my life. Great facility.
