Before closing the doors, PECO, COMCAST, WATER, and GAS were not paid for at least 4 months. Dude, You have no shot in hell getting your poker money. I have to say that If I saw Frank again, I would piss on his face. Dude, you should have been fired when you fired me. You openly mocked me in front of everyone, but dude, people in glass houses should throw stones…I mean, look at your life. You are just me at 40! LOL!

where is the fat pig that used to run poker. she ran a tournament and owes me money what the hell. i guess now that the doors are closed i guess i will never get paid from that stupid well i don’t want to get flagged here but those who know her know what kind of person she is

Well He finally did it! To my amazement, Frank was able to Destroy this bowling alley in 7 years. The bowling alley is set to close July 1st. When he wasn’t hiding from the LCB under tables, Frank spent most of his time watching Football and gambling. All the while, getting paid, mind you, to manage the Alley by an even bigger idiot, Bob Ikes, Right now PECO has its finger on the switch, as i write this. No bills are being paid and what eeks though June will be the last month of operation. Congrats Frank. Hey look on the bright side, at least you are down in GA with your hottie.

to let everyone know the lanes might be old but
most people have fun there. you can’t please all
people. if you an easy place to place limerick
is the place. the staff doesn’t care and they rude

Comment Date: 1/21/2010 Name: artizzle
i went there two weekends ago on a Saturday night. we went because Limmerick tried to put us on a lane with 6 people, and i wanted to bowl a little more than that.
The place looks dead from the outside. there were 4 cars. inside there were 8 other people on three lanes. compare this with the 6 per lanes (48 lanes @ limmerick).
they were playing some bowling radio and had pretty decent black lights and lasers and stuff (if you are into such a thing). The radio was worse than the dj music they play at limmerick, but the lights were of comparable quality.
the place feels a little dirty and a little older than limmerick.
the balls were a problem for me. i use a 16, and the only 16 i could find (remember the place was empty) that didnt have large gouges in them had rubber inserts that didnt allow me to put my fingers in the holes like i am used to. the 15 pound ball i used rubbed my index finger raw.
my girlfriend said the bathroom was disgusting, and mentioned 4-5 things that she doubts would make code (she watches a ton of HGTV).
We got two beers (we wanted Pabst Blue Ribbon, as a sort of redneck tribute to the place, but they didnt have… settled on lagers), and the bar chick was nice. there was a large hispanic boy or girl (couldnt tell) laying on two tables that were side by side.
we had no problem with the ball return or the pinsetters, which i have had at limmerick lanes (quickly fixed, but i want to be fair). Although i do have a friend who told me one of their ball machines took a big chunk out of his own ball. It might be a good idea to leave your ball home if you are considering going.
The computer systems are pretty old, but i kind of like the oval ball holder at the end of the return.
the guy who was there treated us pretty good. im fairly sure he wasnt Frank.
it was slightly more expensive per hour than limmerick. but like i said, i got a decent amount of bowling in.

I can’t believe this place is still open? I thought for sure that Robert’s plan when bringing Frank in was to run it to the ground. I guess it is taking longer then expected. Or, maybe Frank is more competant than Robert thought.

Comment Date: 9/24/2009 Name: senior bowler
Ah, Phoenix lanes, home of less bowlers every year. That’s what is so great about it. Every year you have more lanes to choose from because they’re not taken up by those pesky league bowlers.

Comment Date: 6/30/2009 Name: bbb
Look anyone who is complaining about Frank. I agree with you 100% he is rude, ignorant, and doesnt know how to conduct himself in a business manner with customers or employees. Bob will never do anything about this unless he is force so i say to everyone who was treated rudely by Frank to call the BBB and let them get involved. Then when they force Bob to give people free stuff or thier money back then he will wake up and do something about it.

Limerick Bowl used to be a dump until they put some cash in an renovated it. Phoenix Lanes needs the same attention given to it. The place could be a gold mine if someone bought it, closed it down for a month and did some major renovations to it. Here is to wishful thinking

Comment Date: 4/1/2009 Name: senior bowler
Wow!!! How exciting now that they have finished the smoking area in the bar. Many patrons were sure it wouldn’t get done in time for the end of the season festivities or today’s big April 1st party. Happy April fools day. S B

Comment Date: 1/31/2009 Name: senior bowler
Wouldn’t it be nice if Phoenix lanes had an indoor smoking area like other centers that have bars? Wouldn’t it be nice if they hired a real contractor
to build this smoking area? Wouldn’t you be proud to be the owner of this memorable establishment?

Comment Date: 10/26/2008 Name: best quote from below
quote from the last entry…
“Great pointI can tell you are really smart. Here are my counter questions to you…When the place sells inevitably and they clean up the bathrooms and the carpets and the floors, taking that home away from home feel away from you and they then require a high school diploma to be employed there, thus putting the little bald dolt and the gay manager out on 724 thumbing rides, will you go and bowl there?”
This quote sums up this place wonderfully. Frank has turned a good place to bowl into a casino. There is more gambling that goes on there then bowling. If the owner is reading this…you should be puckin’ embarrassed of yourself letting this go on. And, mr owner, you wonder why the local schools in the area skip right on by and go 20 miles to Limrick for their school bowling programs. My new question is, now that people can’t smoke cigarettes in Phoenix lanes anymore, will they go there to gamble anymore?

Comment Date: 9/11/2008 Name: we don’t go anymore
Angel, we don’t go anymore, infact we cant. The last time we went there, there were 2 other lanes that were being played. The place was virtually empty and I didn’t know how the place stayed open. See I work in a company division that grosses over 50K a month yet our corporate is still thinking of closing us due to profitability. I.e. they feel they could make even more money elsewhere with the same amount of resources and employees. So when I see 9 people on Sunday evening in the facility, I know the owner is HURTING. Here comes the best part. After getting to the lane to set up the games, this short bald kid comes over and asks me to leave. I said that we just got there and asked if there was a problem with something. He said that he heard a loud bang and that it sounded like someone threw 2 balls down the lane. I was still lacing my shoes and my friends where at the Bar getting our drinks and food. It was just me at the lanes. Hello? Earth to Weirdo? Are you SERIOUS? Do some Math buddy? When my friends got back to the lane, I told them we had to leave. Of course, they protested and then the gentleman told us we were banned for life. What that means, I really dont know but I am sure we could go when that guy isnt working. BUT, we haven’t gone since. So angel, I can’t comment because I havent been there and never got to throw a ball that night but you are right, we shouldn’t go if we dont like the place or the people. Great pointI can tell you are really smart. Here are my counter questions to you…When the place sells inevitably and they clean up the bathrooms and the carpets and the floors taking that home away from home feel away from you and they then require a high school diploma to be employed there, thus putting the little bald genius and the gay manager out on 724 thumbing rides, will you go and bowl there? Or will you just drive by, only stopping to give the two ex-employees out in the street a ride to McDonalds so they aren’t late for their shifts? I ask because I want to buy the place and I want to see your answer to these two questions…I want to see what kind of trashy customer you are. I think it is a great buy right now, but only if we can drastically change the clientele overnight. That is the key. Phoenixville is being transformed as I write this. Good luck to you and by the way, if you choose to drive by and not stop in again, dont pick those idiots up.

Wow, Another season starting with less league bowlers than the last. At least we still have poker and they bring in their own tables so they don’t need repairs like the lanes or pinsetters.

Comment Date: 4/9/2008 Name: Angel
I am not on a league so my comments are strictly coming from a consumer. My family and friends have been going to Phoenix Lanes for years. I have my childs b-day party there every year. We always have fun and Frank has always been professional. Taking shots at someone who actually has a job and earns a living is really sad. For those of you who feel it is alright to be disrespectful and join in name calling, you really need to grow up. I hope that you are not teaching your children that it is alright to do so. Maybe you should redirect your comments to the people that dont have jobs….like most of you. Just remember if you dont like the place or the people….DONT GO ANYMORE!!! Why do you keep complaining about how bad it is when you continue going? hmm? That is all…Happy Bowling 🙂

Comment Date: 4/5/2008 Name: senior bowler
Well, they coated the lanes as if this will cure anything. Phoenix lanes needs to be resurfaced and the machines need to be rebuilt or replaced (as if that would happen). Lets see if this is enough to stem the tide of people defecting.

Comment Date: 3/6/2008 Name: mike
it is really sad all the people who have great times at phoenix lanes do not take the time to write anything only the sad loosers who have no life probably couldn’t get a job off the street
have the time to write things that are more than likely with no facts to back them up any one can write a lie it takes real people like me to write the truth the place must be doing something write to be so crowded on a saturday night like this past week .

I’ve been league bowling through the Summer and Fall. I’ve never had a problem with Frank, he has always been civil to me, and I’m not going to comment on all this because we haven’t shared the same experiences, but I will mention three things I can talk about with some confidence:
1. The lane conditions are very poor, the machines and the lanes themselves are old and run down and need to be replaced, I doubt you’ll find anyone who will argue with this.
2. If you are looking for a league to play in, the Monday night men’s industrial is full of some cool guys who like to have a beer and joke, and 90 percent of them know how to enjoy bowling making the atmosphere very pleasant.
3. Gus and Paul are two of the nicest most knowledgeable bowlers/pro shop runners you will ever meet, no matter where you bowl, come to them for your equipment needs. They will sell you just what you need, and make sure it works for you, I can’t praise them enough.

Im sorry Nate but a place that has a manager that calls his employees retarded monkeys because they dont know how to preform a task that was never explained to them really has no room for improvement. A work staff can only be as good as its leader and when its leader is a arrogant and selfish any thing that gets done will only benefit that person. For those saying good ridden to the employees that have left that is also a management problem. If you hire just anybody that walks in the door and dont train them, dont encourage them, and never reward them for a job well done with even saying good job. Come on now the job aint rocket science the only good employees their were driven out by ignorance and same goes with any of the decent customers that actually PAID MONEY FOR BOWLING!!! im not talken about you frank s*ck ups that only come for your free drinks, food, and lanes. I have never been as disgusted as i was to watch a man abuse the smallest amount of power i have ever seen. It is not only pathetic but insulting to any employee or customer that has to witness it… For anyone that actually defends this place all i can say is brush your tooth your breath stinks!

Comment Date: 1/15/2008 Name: Nate
I think everyone posting negative comments is immature. The management may leave room or improvement but there are better ways of saying it rather than moronic profane language and rude appraisal of the managers physical appearance. Grow up and consult them yourselves if you feel so strongly about the issue!

The only way to tolerate working at pheonix lanes is to not work when frank is working everyone else is cool peoples. John, Jeff, Jess, Ryan and myself normally had a lot of fun at work and tried to make it fun for everyone else but were firm believers in treating others with the same respect we were given. Hopefully not all of your experiences were bad at the lanes when i was there because not all of mine were. If Frank wasn’t there (deleted) i was a happy camper. To the friends i made there it was good times and il miss you but im never going back to that place again. Plus i cant stand smelling like that place. Goodbye and save your money for something worth it.

i do have a clue about bowling…social rejects throw a ball down a wood lane for three hours while drinking themselves fat. what else is there? 300 games? please!!! look at you! your a slob with missing teeth and have a wife that weighs 300. shut up already with the you don’t know bowling… afraid of frank? let me give you some advice…if you shut that mouth of his up, he will automaticly and forever become your gimp. you know what Bob says when asked about where frank came from… he sayes “one saturday morning he wandered off from one of those special buses and got left behind…so I hired him.”

Comment Date: 8/10/2007 Name: whats in a name
I won’t post my name because that would be to easy to dismiss. anonymity has greater power. this could be anyone, maybe the man himself. Mr. I…anyway. I let your creative deduction try and figure it out. As I you. around bowling longer, probably, around longer, no.

You have no idea about bowling and you don’t have a clue about business. Did he use to work at a bowling center previously? I believe not. It then would be Bob’s job to train him correctly? You have a big problem with Frank for some reason. Did he reject your offer to go out with you or something?!?!? And I am amazed that you can even read and write with a computer. Get a clue before posting comments! And I don’t see you writing your full name either. Are you afraid of Frank??????

learn ? i didnt know frank was in school. i thought he was being paid to perform.

Comment Date: 7/25/2007 Name: Anonymous
I agree the Frank is not that good of a manager. Especially after what I have seen. But Bob is at fault as much as Frank. Bob really knows how to run a center to the ground. Frank can only learn as much as he is taught by Bob, which isn’t much. I would love to see someone buy the center so Bob and Frank can both go away. I thought Playdome or something like that was buying the place. What happen there???

Comment Date: 7/19/2007 Name: me and I bet you too.
Who said ‘hate’. All people here are writing about are things that go on at the lanes. it is what it is. If Frank does something stupid and I write about it or if frank makes less money than my 17 year old son but acts like he rules phoenixville, doesnt mean I hate him. thinking someone is a mooron doesnt mean hate at all. Its just letting the world know what I think and appearantly what others think that have shared the same ‘frank’ experiences. looks like even the owner…shhhhh! thinks Frank will quit soon. We love you Frank…you frail bald simple stupid lawn mower man…but your our simple stupid lawn mower man! so we love you. Never change… I love reading peoples experiences of you on here!!!
Let me give readers a taste.
Bob: Frank why does the front sign that you made spell phoenix lanes… Fenix Lanes?
Frank: I did that so people will see it mispelled and maybe come in and ask what is going on.
Bob: You stupid simple hole, that sign cost me 4,000 dollars. It is perminent. You are so stupid (walks away)

I think that this place s*x. The only thing that is keeping this place open is the fact that it is the only place to bowl in Phoenixville. I must say that quarter night is the only time i go because the games are only worth a quarter. Now Im not say that the people that work there are bad just the building. The pro shop is the best part about this place. They will help you till you are happy with your purchase and your grips. I wish that someone with the money would think about making this a better place bcause i live right down the street and im in a leage all the way up in limrick. please someone save this place.

Comment Date: 2/27/2007 Name: Former GM
My comments below stand, but now that I think about it, Frank really doesnt do anything and hasent since I left. The recent success of PL is all due to a nice staff and from Bob’s partners comming in and remodelling the place. Jose, the mechanic, is well trained and does a good job maintaining the lanes and training new young staff. Ryan, the hippy man, does a nice job djing Rock ‘n Bowl. John does a nice job running the weeknights, weekends and holidays while Donna manages the Bar and Snack bar very efficiently. Heida and Bob both handle the camps and after school programs nicely.
All Frank does is shiver in his pants when Bob’s around.

Comment Date: 2/3/2007 Name: Nice Alley
I must say that Phoenix Lanes has to be the worst alley have have ever been to. The pins are multi colored even though there is no midnight bowling. The pins are also made out of like bulsa wood, making them fly into the gutters while the “dragon” can’t sweep it up. Most of the time, there isn’t even 10 pins set up. Its normally about 7 or 8. They perhaps have the worst alley have have ever seen. Good job Phoenix and keep up the good work.

What is this? He stinks…she doesn’t work…I did this… this place stinks…. what is going on here??? i used to work here 2 years ago. Let’s face facts and stop trying to add comments explaining how this place is good. Or bad…or fun…or not… Basically, and this should be the last comment on this board, Bob, the owner, is a slob. From the outside, the place looks like it closed down in 1973. It has yellow windows the last time I checked and has 14 different color paints inside. Can somebody say Tacky!!! Bob also hires criminals and social rejects And then fires them when they steal or scare a customer? Thats productive. Frank is probably the oddest individual I have ever met! When you speak with him, he sounds like a person in command of his life and business. Yet, when you come to realize how little money he makes at phoenix lanes, given his age, and what he lives in and who he is married to, it is absolutely confounding. Nice guy though. Also, it is bizarre, that nice old lady, Donna, is the only one that actually works and doesn’t steal, yet, ironically, Bob rewards her hard work and loyalty by giving her the crappiest shifts, littlest money and making her clean things that would make an animal throw up. Shame on Bob, but then again, she is still willing to do it, so who’s really at fault. So basically what I want to say is that the place will make you go insane…I mean read this board below this and see all the confusion…someone even thinks a dragon live at the alley. I am a better person now that I left there. I learned a lot about life basically – what career path not to go down. Good luck everyone, try and get out of there!!!

Just for the record, Frank started the poker night. I have read many of the blogs here, and agree with many of you. But the most poignent point made was that if you really have negative feelings about the place and don’t like it, I would suggest not going. There is a lot going on there that I don’t necessarily like to see, but I have also seen some great imporovements in the place in the last 2 years since I stopped working there. The conditions are fairly bad, and rarely is the shot holding up, but the place is old. I hear through the rumor mill that the place is for sale. Maybe if someone can raise a couple of million to buy the property and the equiptment, and do the renovations that are needed, you could see some great improvements. But really, 5 years ago there was a full on brawl in the parking lot, drugs were being sold openly and underage drinking was a given. Phoenix lanes has come a long way. Lay off Frank, make some posative encouragement or buy the place and do whatever you want. Simply bitching won’t solve anything. Really.

my son and i went bowling for the first time in years and my 15 year old son bought a new ball at the store at phoenix lanes. he was really happy. durning our first game, the new ball came back with a gash in it becuase my son rolled the ball in the gutter. we went to the bald guy behind the counter and asked what we could do and he said “dont throw your ball in the gutter” and then he walked away. this is a great way to get first time customers to come back.

my team has bowled on the monday night league for many years. I read all of this and see how you think Frank is the problem. I do agree he is not management type but then again he didn’t go to college for it so what can you expect. What your all missing is the owner (BOB and HAYDA) these two are the ones who do not put a dime back into the place. If it wasn’t for other bowling centers getting NEW equipment, Phoenix Lanes wouldn’t be able to buy there OLD stuff. (I.e. lane machine, cutters, ceiling tiles ETC!!!. Dont put down Frank, he is just Bob’s FALL GUY. This is our last year at Phoenix Lanes. It’s gotten to the point that the dirty parking lot is cleaner than the inside.

What league are you on? the place has gone down hill in the past 3 years. the current guy, Frank, should check his head count on thursdays in the summer. i remember the place had 15 teams thick. what is there now…15 crickets. I like Frank, but i think he should be a little afraid about whats happeneing. Franks a great bowler, I’ve know him for 6 years, i saw him throw several 300’s. But i honestly don’t think he has bowling allay management skills and would probably be better suited as a league secretary.

Comment Date: 8/14/2006 Name: a league bowler
to all that say the lanes are tough, maybe but
you get what you earn here. When that happens it
seperates the pretenders from the contenders. I would rather average 215 here than walk in the other surrounding centers where everyone who walks in is a 220 avg. Weather you bowl here or not go somewhere it can be a challenge for you not gift wrapped any one truely good would. if you do not then you are simply never as good as your average. As for anyone not liking the management it is always an easy target but in the last 3 years the place has turned around and is so mutch better than the past. as for those who disagree i guess it doesn’t matter you will be somewhere else thankfully.

Phoenix Lanes does have some negativity about it, yes, but, simply stating it here will not affect any change. We must bring up these things to the management and the owners, as I do. I cannot do this alone, we must have the comments of all who see the negative aspects brought up to the ones who can make the changes. Gus is great. He has made my older ball and my newer ball more acceptable equipment. One thing that I do not like is when they see people throwing their balls erratically and not enforcing their rules on these people. Smoking and talking on cell phones on the approaches is also a no-no in my book. I’m happy if I get a lane that works, and one where the people next to me behave and have respect for the folks next to them. Of course there will always be people with disrespect for others, but these people could be spoken to, then ejected if they do not abide by the rules of the house. Also, lane conditions change from day to day, hour to hour, and it’s ok, coz it makes me a better bowler when I do have optimal conditions, but I seem to never get that at this house. In any case, just complaining here will never effect change, we need to all get together and bring these things up to the management, and ownership. If you don’t know who is the owner, ask, they will be pointed out if they are present. Otherwise, be the good example, or go elsewhere. Thank you.

the owner should get rid of that bald guy yesterday!! if he ever talked to me the way i saw him talk to his employees, he would be leaving yesterday, without his teeth!!! otherwise the place was great!!

to all that do not like phoenix lanes the only thing for you to do is not go there. they do not need you their are plenty of people who do like to go their if that was not the case they would not be open. as far as people who don’t like the people that do go their they probably feel the same about you so may be you should think about that. as far as management the place is finally not being fleesed by its employee’s that run the place and it is a mutch friendlier place than limerick lanes where the people don’t give you that indvidual attention. so i like many choose
phoenix lanes.

well the only reason the lanes s*ck is because the wood is horrible. The pro shop is awsome now that gus jacobs is back to being the owner. If anyone needs bowling needs this man has a lot of knowledge and experience to fit you to your bowling game

i have never been to phoeniz lanes and i am going there next week for the Pepsi Tournament. Just by reading your comments and by the abusive language used by the manager (i.e. use of the word “retards”) i can tell that this place is a total $%*@hole and the manager is another kind of hole and should be fired for it.

Firstly, If you choose to bowl on a friday night…you have no life. Secondly, its friday night, retard…its going to be a loud club/dance/rave/rap night…oh you expected some red-neck, soft, 80’s, country band to welcome you back. Thirdly, you people are the ones that create the chaos/damage/underage drinking/puke/nerdiness – so look in the mirror and lastly, i tell you what, if we did ‘studio 54’ the place….just be reading what you wrote, you’d be the first person we wouldn’t let in…peace…and we’ll see you friday

I stopped in Phoenix Lanes on 2/10/06, This is nothing but an underage drinking party/rave for 14 year olds. I can not believe the PALCB lets this go on. A phone call to them I feel is in order. The management and the DJ should go to jail!!!

I went to Phoenix lanes on 1/8/2006 for the rock ‘n’bowl and I saw the ugliest people in the world. They should do what Studio 54 did in the 70’s and not let 80% of these people in the building. Their business would then thrive. To the disgusted patron, I was there the same night you were there. What lane where you on? I have class like you and share your feelings. Let’s get together and find a better club/night spot.

I went to this bowling alley to meet my friend on a Friday night and I was so disgusted by the half naked drunken teenagers running through the parking lot, and the nasty people there, I left in terror and will never go near this crappy place again.

I recently went to Phoenix Lanes for the first time, the best part of my night was an ice cold glass of Mountain Dew.
The DJ’s choice of music was unappealing and attracted white trash to the dance floor. Encouraging people to show their sexiest tattoo was asking for trouble and vomiting. Allowing glow stick man to remove his shirt was inappropriate.
The restrooms had no toilet paper in the dispenser. However there was a full roll on the germ infested floor. One girl in the bathroom was threatening to beat up the other.
The decorations were tacky, disco ball etc. I felt like I was in a high school prom nightmare.
A friend of mine showed up but didn’t see me and so she left. And I quote her “I wasn’t about to look through all those groups of freaks to find you.”
I wonder if the manager of Phoenix Lanes has ever heard of a ventilation system because the smoke in there was so thick that two days later… my eyes are still dry and red.
If you are a decent citizen of the ville or any other surrounding town, I would avoid Phoenix Lanes at any cost.
Just another quick story. My friend and I were driving by Phoenix Lanes… this was before I knew what it was like. We see their “open” sign is lit and I say “let’s bowl!!” Approaching the door we realize…the lanes are closed and only the bar is open.
What a repulsive establishment crawling with filth; an embarrassment to the community.

Great fun, lots of fun people, except the bald manager – he was sort of oblivious to everything around him.
