Tried bowling there for practice several nights but the music was too loud and overbearing, couldn’t even hear myself think. Each time I asked them to turn it down they would. However within the next two or three minutes they would crank it back up. No respect for those who seriously want to practice. This was not on a Weekend, this was during another league time. I hope to find a new practice center. Not the friendliest people.

I wasted my time league bowling for four seasons in this dump of a bowling alley. The place is falling apart. The wooden lanes are not kept up, and your equipment will suffer. The scoring machines always mark the wrong score, and the lanes constantly break down. And, the girls in the snack bar refuse to cook any hot foot if it’s after 8:00 at night. The owners are typical, greedy people who’s attitude is, “This is what you get. Take it or leave it.” Well, I left it! Yes, there are less alleys in Queens to choose from now. But, I’d rather spend the money on gas, traveling to a real bowling center, than giving this place another dime of my hard earned money.

As an accomplished bowler who has missed the Pro-tours due to injuries and no ability, I need to comment about Maric lanes. The floor crew is slow. Slow like the kid from “deliverance”. After having to hit the rest button more times than Darryl Strawberry hits his wife, the floorboy had to walk at a snails pace to retrieve the ball. He was slower than my brother Chris at a science fair. If it was not for the constant waiting for lane repairs, I would have thrown a 900 series and 3 perfect games. They are making me look bad.

This place is pretty good. One time when I went shortly before they closed, they didn’t charge me and a friend for shoes because they felt bad that we only got to play one string. That’s compassion.

I agree with everyone here. The place is okay but only if you live in the neigbhorhood. I wouldn’t trek here from anywhere outside of astoria. The blond European woman behind the food counter has been rude since I started going there over 10 years ago, that’s just her nature. Just get what you need from her and go, don’t bother getting upset, she’s not worth it and its not YOU, she’s like that to everyone. The rest of the staff is not too great either. They are okay for kids parties but only give you one hour of bowling which is completely ridiculous. Yes the reset button does seem to be a problem but some times are better than others. The place is just okay. Too bad they don’t make more of an effort to make the most out of what they have, basically, the only bowling alley in Astoria.

I’ve bowled here several times and I’ve always had a lot of fun there. yeah, every once in a while you had to hit the reset but it’s really not a big deal. Please! Come on! If that’s your big complaint you’re living in a dream world. That’s going to happen, get use to it, no place is perfect. Maybe if you played better that wouldn’t happen as much. This is a good place. I liked it.

I bowl Saturday mornings at these lanes and have a 155 average. I think thats pretty decent for a 12 year old that bowls only once a week at these lanes. (The One might also be part of that 🙂 )

How much is it per game?

I think Maric Lanes is a good lane plus I like when they turn off the lights and turn on the music and when they light up the lanes.

Me and my family went there and we thought it was good but we kept pressing the reset button all the time if they would fix that it would be better.

I agree about the woman behind the counter..she has a register right in front of her and she expects the customer to do the math. And the reset button is the popular thing there : /

Went to a Birthday party and spent more time hitting the reset button and waiting for the guy to fix the damn machine, than we spent bowling!

These lanes are outdated and constantly need to be reset. The people who work there are rude and get annoyed when you ask for help. The woman behind the food counter is also rude. It’s right down the block from where I live and still would never bowl there.
