It is too bad that the Saratogian can’t do another columm on bowling like I did years ago. Good shooting Bob P. What pair was it on?
Like to have seen it.

How about a tournament using Black rubber bowling balls only and no offset, just straight up; Plus channel to channel oil condition? No takers would happen, except seasoned bowlers because the scores would be low but fair.

Read further down about a $1000 match. wish I had been there. $1000 MATCH, 10 GAMES ACROSS 20 LANES WITH A COLUMBIA 300 OR A LT 48. dON’T LET ANYTHING BUT FEAR STOP YA. Remember if you are not ahead by 31 pins going into the tenth, you won’t win. And that is the truth, because it has been done.

Well Doug,I retired from the game in 2005
due to injury. But you, Dude and I gave them some great matches in those days. I miss it very much. It would be great to see the old gang one more time.

(post from 4/24/2009) Those were the days when bowling was bowling and not just scoring. Your post brought back fond memories. The Hi Roc Classic when a 3 man team had a limit of 565. Yet it was tough to find 3 people who added up to that much. Columbia 300 White dots. Lot of great memories that will never be forgotten no matter what the new name is ( Strike Zone) The person who made the 4/24/2009 post? Care to clue us in?

Hi-Roc was always a class place to bowl. Some of the most classic matches in Saratoga bowling history took place there. The lanes made you think not like today where you can miss your mark by 10 boards and still score. Hi-Roc made you think!! Bowlers like Joe Deuel, Bob Gailor, Bruce Simek, Doug Bradt, Demski D’Andrea, And Jim Caputo averaged 200 when it was earned. If you are whining about the condition then the word is adjust or watch..

Add up games on grocery store calculator vice cash register and insist there can be no error. The lanes aren’t in the best shape and dont’ seem to be oiled very regularly (lack of leagues?). Argue regularly (both time I’ve been in have seen arguments)with paying customers.

Boy, that Friday bartender makes a stiff drink!

Instead of bowling the match, we decided to take the $1000 and blow it at the down town bars.

6 games, total pinfall, $1000 to the winner!
In there first meeting Furman slapped Guernsey around so badly he almost quit the game and went into hidding for nearly a year.

I love Hi-Roc lanes! Karl Wolf and Mo Barker are doing a fantastic job and are the nicest people. The only thing that would complete Hi-Roc is if Furman returned.
