I’ve bowled in this area for many years, I’ve tried other houses but always come back here. Great staff, great friends, great house.

What a great bowling alley this is. Just moved to the area and was told that these are the best lanes around and I am very pleasantly surprised. The desk people couldn’t have been nicer, will be a regular soon I’m sure.

I remember you Scott, I also used to work at Wantagh Lanes and my dad did too. A lot of fun times and a lot of great memories. I miss all the old employees. It’s been a long time.

Wantagh Lanes was like my home for many years. It was my first job at 14 and I did just about every job you can there, I bowled laughed and cried here, watched the 86 Mets win there. Everything changes but Wantagh Lanes doesnt. A great safe place. Below Eddie Stromberg Jr recalls the place fondly as I do him his mom dad and family. Memories for life or a great bowling alley for a night out and everything in between. Thanks

This place is only for senior citizens. Not a good place to chill.

I bet the guy who said he is the manager of AMF Wantagh Lanes, said they are not closing because AMF told him too. I heard about East Meadow closing also. Don’t trust AMF as they will close right under your nose. Your equipment will be stuck in the place if you don’t watch out.

This place is great for parties but not for serious league bowlers. I wish amf would list exactly which lanes they’re closing. Any word on east meadow?

Amf is in bankrupcy. I’m not taking any chances. We’ve been lied to before. I ‘m moving on!

I am the General Manager of Wantagh Lanes. There is no truth in the comments listed below in regard to the bowling center closing down. My staff and I have worked tirelessly to make our bowling alley an enjoyable experience for everyone. If you have any questions or concerns or would like to reserve lanes for any of our great specials, please call me (516) 781-1460. Also, check out our Facebook page to get notifications about upcoming specials at

Fabulous lanes. just had my son’s bowling party there. They have a gorgeous party room and couldn’t do enough for us, including ordering kosher pizza for Passover. A big recommend for their great lanes, clean and safe and accommodating crew.

I heard they will be closing by the end of the year. Don’t know if i’ll bother to start in the fall only to have to find another league mid-season. What a shame,

Cant believe amf is going to be closing this place. Now i have to go find somewhere else to bowl. I hear amf is closing most of tnere centers. Any suggestions for mens trios

Comment Date: 3/16/2012 Name: J. Johnson
AMF will only do cosmetic things to make an alley look good. As for really getting what is needed don’t hold your breath. Remember AMF can close your alley any time they want to and with your equipment in it.

This is a very nice house but I don’t understand why AMF has remodeled this place with new approaches, new automatic scoring and new masking units over the pinsetters but left the old Brunswick pinsetters that are as slow as can be.

I have bowled off and on here for years and find it to be very nice. It is a tougher scoring condition and the carry isn’t as good here as at other houses but that’s what makes the game fun. If it wasn’t for the lousy synthetic approaches I’d give this place a 10!!!

I had my sons b’day a few years ago it was awesome, nothing bad to say until… a month ago when I decided to have my daughter’s party there too!! What a change. The party is no longer in the Lounge but now in what I would call a dirty storage room. I ordered additional pizza’s for all of the adult’s they charged me the same as if I had ordered on the outside but instead was wheeled in frozen pizza’s made by the snack bar. How do you serve “Frozen Pizza” to your adult guests and have the nerve to charge and pass them off as “Ordered Out” Beware the party’s are now a R.I.P. Off!!!!!!

I went to the snack bar to order a burger. The lady with the red and blue hair said no i dont want to make that order a microwave salad instead. I said i dont want a salad she says im tired im not cooking go away then.

overall not bad one major problem. I have been there and had to wait for 5 min to even be helped by people at the desk and snack bar. They need to be more on task and be aware that there may be people need something. Overall the house is ok but the staff especially in the snack bar aren’t very helpful

I went there for a weekend party for my child and Howard at the desk is very helpful and friendly. I recommend this place for a child birthday party and my daugher enjoyed her party.

This place is small. doors are small, cant fit a large size person in. I can not fit in so i bowl at other places without a small door.

Well it has been done. Gangsta kids stoll my car and several other cars out of the parking lot. Finally maybe the police will arrest them if the jails are big enough to hold them all.

Comment Date: 11/13/2008 Name: Pete
I bowled here for many years in a league as a child. It’s a great house. I love it. As far as “gangsta” kids in the parking lot. Sometimes theres a few high school kids which are far from gangsta, even though they may think differently. That’s about it.

I always go to wantagh, I love it here.

Wantagh is one of the nicest, safest bowling centers on Long Island! Parking areas are well lit and frequently patrolled by the Nassau PD as part of their rounds. Parents frequently drop off their teens in the evening with little or no fear.
Gangsta? RU Kidding? This is Wantagh!

“Gangsta kids making drug deals in the parking lot”?…….I DON’T THINK SO.

Comment Date: 6/12/2008 Name: Anonymous
it is expensive and dangerous. gangsta kids from the hood hang out in the parking lot and sometimes make drug deals on the lanes.

Comment Date: 5/31/2008 Name: jim
too much money

It is fun here, the screen has changed.

Comment Date: 6/28/2007 Name: Anonymous
Well, I’ve been here like 25-50 times and IT RULES.Staff are nice, except 3 hour waiting lists

Comment Date: 6/5/2007 Name: Wantagh the pits
Inexperienced lane oilers are the biggest problem at this house. Touch conditions are one thing, inconsistent conditions are another. The Friday early mixed league which always had over 20 teams and a waiting list to join is down to just 6 teams in the 06-07 season. What does that say about the house? Thursday nites are similar with what used to be a full early shift house.

Here Goes, alot of people bash wantagh. The reason is that the shot is more tougher than most centers, and the carry is not easy at this house. If you bowl well here, you can probably bowl higher at other houses. I have shot VERY well here for many years, its called adjusting. And for the people who complain about the approaches here, buy shoes with interchangeable soles that accomodate ANY approach. What would you do if u were on tour, or at a tourney and couldnt slide? or were sticking, you would adjust. Bowling is all about adjusting, no matter what house you bowl at. Wantagh makes a bowler out of you.. adjust and you will be fine there!

With the change of general manager, the center should be more bowler-friendly, as it was in days gone by! Dottie, Marti, Joanne and Nancy are the glue that makes the center work. The new GM has a genuine concern for the bowlers, not just the AMF corporate bottom line. Wantagh is, and will always be, a league, family-friendly center. Lane conditions, although a little tougher than the close your eyes, throw it right house shot, is a fair shot that is challenging for most bowlers. With the right shoes, the approaches are not an issue.

Cramped and narrow setee and walkway. Lane conditioning and synthetic approaches are a big problem.

Comment Date: 3/1/2006 Name: Eddie Stromberg Jr.
I would like to say that’s where my bowling journey started and I would like to thank Rich, Dottie and the whole crew for the good times. I started at visiting that center at about the age of 6 and while my mother worked there I would help dust lanes and return balls to their racks. Also would help summer camps great times great people thank you Wantagh Lanes……… P.S. if this could ever get to the bowling center itself that would be awesome. Thank you!!!!!
