how dare you people sit here and criticize this place I have had nothing but good memories at say like lanes. Valerie the floor manager has a wonderful sense of humor and is kid friendly. I have beer waited more that 10-15 minutes for a food order to a family of 10. my husband and I bowl at sayville every Sunday and always leave pleased so everyone shut up!

Im a league bowler at AMF Sayville for a long time now its now being run like a {deleted}.I’ll tell you that AMF needs to look at this place better the only manager they had that care about this place was a guy name Maz.At least he had the place rockin back in the day you need to bring him back

This place is just terrible. We are pulling our league out of here and from what i here we are going to patchogue. Its about time we got no respect and when we asked about things we got no answers. Terrible management and me and several others share the same thoughts about this place. Its not a customer friendly place to bowl. I would go some where else like patchogue or centereach before i go here.

We pulled our league out of here when they started catering to open bowlers and neglected its league members. Now we bowl in East Islip.

I have been to many lanes. What ever the price was when i started that is what i am charged no matter what time I leave.

I’m on a Thursday night league and everything runs smooth. Friendly staff, good food & excellent lane conditions. When I practice during the week it’s a different story. I’m barely acknowledged at the counter by the same rude woman EVERY TIME! Getting food is a chore. Staff is not children friendly either. Be aware that if you don’t finish before 4PM all games will be charged at a higher rate. I bowled 3 games before 4 & 1 after & they were all charged at the 4PM rate. TACKY. Especially since I spend a lot of money at Sayville. Bottom line, go to Islip or centereach for non league/ family bowling.

I was there on Saturday Sepetmber 12th and even though there was a waiting list at night the people at the desk went out of there was to come find us when our lanes were available when we did not hear our name get announced.

I think this center has really turned around. I hear that they are updating the system in October and the management is trying really hard. I noticed that the center is really trying to change. i say if you left there try it again. On the weekends it is usually these 2 kids I think Nick and Lauren and this new kid I think John? and they are all really nice. I take my family there a lot now. I say try it again the managers and staff are all great people.

Haven’t bowled here in years but just so happened that I had two childrens parties to attend in the past 3 weeks. Place was very clean and the girl Liz that works there was absolutely the best. She was very helpful, friendly and made our experience there a pleasure. I would go back anytime because of her.

I bowl at Sayville on Thursday Night Mens and Saturdays during the day to practice. Of all the employees there Matt, Sam and Alex are the nicest kids. Matt is always working and is never nasty or rude like other employees. Sam might be the nicest kid in the world. Matt and Sam work great together, I’ve seen them make customers laugh and have a good time. Alex is the sweetest girl and always smiles. Alex waitresses Thursday Night and always takes the time to talk to us. I hope Theresa knows what great employees they are and because of those three kids people keep coming to Sayville Lanes.

I am offering my comments to hopefully make others feel better about their situations. I was there celebrating my engagement (10/10/08.) My whole night was ruined thanks to incompetent employees. I bowled 3 games using my personal bowling shoes and ball. After I was done bowling, one of the other players on the team I was bowling with, threw a rosin bag that landed in the gutter of one of our two lanes. I was now in my “street shoes,” but offered to use the raised border next to the gutter to properly attain the item without walking on the lane. The woman next to me, who claimed to be an off duty employee, told me I was not permitted to do that. She went to the manager, Juan. He immediately started to threaten us saying he was calling the police because I was bowling without bowling shoes. He wouldn’t even listen to what we had to say. I spent $108.00 to bowl, $80.00 on alcohol for all of my party and $20.00 on food. I tipped everyone I came in contact with including Phil, the bartender, yet I was asked to leave! What a terrible facility. I don’t ever get treated this way when I bowl at my local bowling alley. I guess I made a mistake by thinking AMF meant quality and the same consistency from location to location. Very disappointing and I am continuing to file an official complaint!

I just want to say that the staff has done a 100% turn around and the place is clean, the food is great and the lanes are working when my league bowls. I thinkg that the change came for the manager when her old boss left and let her run the placd. they doo a nice job there. and i have never had a problem with the bathrooms

Comment Date: 7/24/2008 Name: Anonymous
the restrooms reaked of piss, took forever to get food, its impossible to get service at the desk when your lane breaks cause the desk people are in the back all the time. $6 a game? who are they kidding?

Comment Date: 7/16/2008 Name: bowling for fun
The people here are just nasty. too much attitude for me. I just came to bowl a couple of games in this center and all i got was a bad attitude at the desk and when i went to the snack bar it was like i was bothering them to make food for me. sad i won’t be back.

may i remind you that the facility manager, general manager and asst manager are on matter how many hrs they work, they get paid the same, every week.i worked for amf and amfs pay scale,is for the birds.if you’re complaining about this or that, remember, amf doesnt pay enough for any1 to last for a long time.revolving doors,is what you see in amf run houses.yes, the f.m. is the most important person, but these days most of the ones i know, look for other employment, that does pay overtime!!!!

I guess I need to school you. The head mechanic or facility manager is pretty much the only key position in the center. Your job is just transfering numbers from one sheet to another.
I will even make you think a little. How many times have you had to ask the mechanic a question? I bet alot. The snack bar is not an issue, any fool can flip a burger or serve a pretzel. The key is to keep them from taking your profits. If you think about it, how long does a bowler spend at the desk or snack bar? I would say 25 seconds to break a 20 dollar bill, then another 3 minutes to get their soda or beer.
The time spent in the center is in the bowling area. If the machines do not run, the bowlers will never come back. Good service is the key. The bowler does not care if the beer is warm, because he knows he can always get another one. He may not be able to get another pinspotter.
So as pretty as you may be, please do not think that food and beverage will get you to the top. Remember, bowling is just an option. you need to give them a reason to frequent your center.
Please do not put it all on the desk clerk. They are only there for a cup of coffee. Most of them make the minimum salary, so they have one foot out the door. Guess what? a dirty parking field gives a fist impression. You should be the first one out in the parking field to clean it up

Hey it is very easy to be up. You never mentioned what you are up from. Your numbers could be so poor, that just a little sales will make you look good.

I welcome all of your opinions directly to my email at work. It is I understand that you all have concerns as I do too. Let me be very clear about some things. I am extremely for the league bowler. Over the past 2 years I have been with Sayville Lanes I have learned alot. I DO NOT want the league bowlers out, I just want to be able to maximize business to the best of my ability. If I did want the leagues out I wouldn’t have a full house of leagues for fall scheduled for Sunday Thriugh Thursday. I hope you all understand being grown mature adults that we all have to abide by certain rules. Now, As far as the center not running efficiently? There are bumps and hicups to any business but I can tell you I have an excellent facility manager and staff. Are they perfect? No but we, Including me are striving to be the best. We have more leagues, tournaments and open play this year than the center has had in the past…Ever. So as far as not knowing bowling? Im not an expert but I sure have to know something to be up in leagues, food, tournaments and open play. Again, I welcome your opinions. Feel free to call me personally at (631)567-8900 for I would like to improve the center and your experiences further.
Thanks for caring to write.

I have bowled at Sayville for 2 yrs now and never see the same counter help twice. There is constantly new staff who know nothing. The leagues are unorganized and no questions are answered. Scott is the only guy who knows anything he should be the manager. If you want to play lotto no one knows how to use the machine. Why have a machine? Poor management!

Lanes always break down, Never any oil. Manager Theresa Cumbo do absoulutly nothing and always has an attitude and dosent care about the customers and is never, I MEAN NEVER FAIR!!!. Always concerned about the snackbar and not giving league bowlers a league discount. Never stepping foot in that bowling ally again and a lot of people have left due to the lack of care from anyone on staff.

Theresa the fat manager needs to be fired due to bias toward customers. She gives others attitudes and fights with customers. Biggest low life scum I have seen yet.

I bowl on two leagues at two AMF centers. Out of both of them I prefer Sayville. If there is a problem with the lane or scoring, there is always some on the desk or floor to help and fast.

I late these lanes so {deleted} much. I used to love them in the ’90s, but now in the ’00s, I don’t like them anymore. My league manager complains to me that the people don’t know how to fix the machines when they break down. And one time he flipped out on one of the employees for being a total b*tch.

I bowl on 2 leagues at Sayville. I like the lanes because they are close to home for me and I do pretty well on these lanes. The only thing I don’t like is that when you ask the people at the front desk for something to be done on the approach or lanes, they are either nasty or they look at you like you have 2 heads. Then when you do get somebody to help you, they don’t know their butt from a hole in the wall!

I used to work there and I am so glad I dont anymore. That place has seriously gone down the tubes. I bowl on 2 leagues there still and they want us out(especially the new GM there) because she wants open bowling. The league people are bringing in the money. These people that took over the company have no clue what they are doing and they have no idea how to run a center and the DM is on the top of my hate list!

These lanes really stink because they always break down.

I have read some of the comments about AMF Sayville Lanes. I am an employee there and I have noticed that a lot of you are upset that there are many leagues. The leagues bring in money and we use the money to make the center more appealing to the customers and help you have a more enjoyable time.

Comment Date: 1/5/2005 Name: Anonymous
I agree that there are too many leagues but after 10PM on a Saturday night it’s fairly easy to get a lane and I love the midnight bowling and DJ on Saturdays!!!! I go during the day with the kids and never had a problem. I also have been there at night and always have a great time! The place is fairly clean and the lanes are kept in good condition. My husband bowls on a weekly league and we get discounts for shoes, lanes and food!

Good place to go bowling, however the only chance you have at bowling is during the day, all nites have leagues, making it a 3 hour wait for lanes. Price is a little high as well.

Comment Date: 5/1/2004 Name: ROB,RORY,SHANE
This bowling alley is pretty good overall, but, there are way too many leagues every damn night and we never get a lane. There is what we call the “Squirrelly Guy”…Who is really weird and annoying and kind of mean…
