If they are serving food in your establishment perception is reality, so to the customer it looks like the alley is serving horrible frozen food and warm bottled water. So as a business owner wouldn’t you want to make sure that your bowling customers are having a positive “full experience” inside your establishment?

Enough with the CASH ONLY business we live in one of the richest counties in the country and our local businesses are doing cash only, sure you have an atm available, where there is a fee from the atm and a fee from your bank. You obviously do it to fudge your numbers and pocket more money, but such a shame that in 2012 we can not use a debit card in there. SMH

@Rachael, the reason you only had 20 mins to bowl was because they have bowling leagues that take place EVERY day. Leagues have priority on the lanes over people that come in and bowl for fun. Leagues are a big part of why bowling alleys can stay open for you to go and bowl with your friends. Also, that snack bar is NOT part of the bowling alley establishment, that is a seperate business owned by completely different people. If you had issues with them, mabye you should find their business listing and give them the bad ratings for the food you ate from their establishment.

A few years back (2006) I my entire 6th grade class went bowling there, anyone that ate at their snack stand got food poisoning! The place was dirty and dark, and I did not enjoy the experience. This summer I thought I would try again, so I went with some of my friends. We walked in, and only two lanes were in use. The room was dark and smokey, and there was one person working. When we asked the lady at the desk how much a round would cost, she rudely told us that we would only be allowed to play for 20 minutes, and that we would still have to pay full price! We will not be returning any time soon.

Bowled here last month. The place seemed very clean and the staff very helpful. I would recommend Circle Lanes.

I used to bowl at CL as a kid and now I take my kids there! The staff is always very attentive, it’s a very nice facility, and we always have a BLAST!

We just went to a birthday party at Circle Lanes and had an awesome time! All of the kids at the party had a great time and so did the parents, infact the parents ended up getting a lane and bowling, too. what a great atmosphere, clean, very family friendly environment- i just love the old time lockers in the corner- so nostalgiac and the bright colors makes for a very cheery place. And great music, too! We can’t wait for our next birthday party at circle lanes! We will definately be going back again.

My family and i, who are not big bowlers went to Circle Lanes and had so much fun! the staff were so nice and attentive to us and helped us enter our names into the screen, and helped us pick out the right ball for the kids. Was surprised that after almost 2 hours of fun there, the cost, i dont remember exactly what it was, but i expected it to be alot more…a decent price for a few hours of family fun…Thanks for all of the help! we will definately be returning there!

I choose Circle Lanes when I go bowling for several reasons. If I want to practice and improve my game, I can count on Circle Lanes to have consistantly well oiled lanes. Also, if I’m just going to have fun with friends, the laser light show is really cool and fun to experience

Circle lanes has been full of rude & obnoxious staff for as long as I can remember. Ive never had more bad experiences at an alley, than I have at Circle. The area is full of lanes, each with their own issues, but Circle is the bottom of the barrel

Ok. If you are thinking about bowling at Circle Lanes, just don’t, don’t take the time or the chance like my teammates and I did. HUGE MISTAKE. We went there to try out the lanes because we were planning on bowling in a league. The lady at the front desk was as rude as can be, she has such an attitude. We got a lane, and she told us we can only bowl until a certain time and then we had to leave. After bowling just 2 games and it became time to go, she came to our lane and basically forced us out. Very frustrating to say the least.
So we tried a summer league Thursday Night Social…we were told it was a “just for FUN” league (because we had 2 beginners that were interested in trying a league)
At first the league was ok. Nothing special. A few weeks into it, well, that’s where it went all wrong. The lady “Melanie” who “runs” these leagues is a complete joke. Every week, she would complain to our team about something we did. If we needed help putting a blind in, or filling in a score sheet, she would give us attitude and create grief. Absolutely unbelievable. The most absurd complaint we received was that our teammate picked up her ball from the ball return while Melanie’s husband was bowling and it distracted him. Our teammate wasn’t even on the lane, she just reached to get her ball, and the lady came over and gave her a ten minute lecture about why that is distracting. Meanwhile, the lady had the nerve to give a lecture about distractions, when she herself bowls on a team called “Nice balls honey” and every time they get a strike, their entire team (including herself) loudly yell across the lanes “NICE BALLS HONEY”. I’ve been distracted a few times by that myself, but was always polite enough to keep it to myself.
She’s a hypocritical person and very rude to say the least. She and her husband completely ruined this league for me. She’s always hounding you to pay. We were paying on time the whole season, and about a month away from the end of the season, she made it mandatory to pay two weeks in advance at all times. I’ve never had this happen in a league before, and it was quite annoying.
Not only are the people that run the league rude, obnoxious, and distasteful, but some of the people that bowl in the league are also rude, disrespectful and are a**h*les. We went to bowl for fun, but somehow we weren’t informed that it really was a competitive league where everyone had 200 averages (or close to it). We even heard some d*ckhead on the other team say ridiculous things like “this team doesn’t deserve to be in this league” and “why are they here, they are terrible.” (especially from people that aren’t very good)
Mind you, this league was called THURSDAY NIGHT SOCIALS for Christ’s sake. It’s not as if we joined the PBA professional league.
Anyway, I can go on all day about how bad this place was, the only good person they have is the snack bar lady, she was the only nice person we encountered, the bartender wasn’t too bad either, but the atmosphere as a whole is what killed it for us. Very rude staff, very rude league bowlers, overall, calling our experience an disappointment would be an understatement. IT WAS A DISASTER.
I’m a league bowler, I’ve bowled in Sparta, Rockway, various lanes on Staten Island, Parkway Lanes, etc.. and now Circle, but never have I had such a terrible experience bowling.
Bowling is one of my favorite sports, and I’ve never skipped a week until now. Tonight was the last week of the league, and it is so out of control that my team and I skipped it. We decided to cut our losses and move on. What a waste of money.
Don’t make the same mistake and waste your money on this horrible place. Go to Rockaway or Sparta Lanes, people are nicer, and the prices aren’t as ridiculous, oh and one other thing, Rockaway and Sparta take CREDIT CARDS! Circle is only cash, probably because they don’t want to report their profit to the government.
Needless to say, after I pick up the prize money next week I will never step foot in that place. Not for a league, not for open bowling, hell, not even for a {freaking} party. They completely ruined the bowling experience of my two beginner teammates and I doubt they will ever bowl again anywhere.

sorry, but I read these posts where people say the people are mean and I just started bowling in a league and the people that work their are beyond nice and a great bunch of people. I’m not sure if they are speaking of the same place, the one in Ledgewood the staff A++++++

Bowling alley has not been updated in about 30 years! If you are a serious bowler then this place would be fine for you… However, if you are bringing kids to have fun and are not related to Bill Gates, go to Chuck-E-Cheeses instead. It is a “CASH ONLY” business which always smells like a rat to me (there is an ATM machine right next to the cash register). Basically this translates to you dropping $75 bucks and they will claim you spent $25 on their income reports (cash only = no paper trail). First and last visit there! Happy New Year

Circle Lanes would be okay if there wasn’t any other bowling alleys in the area. It is dirty and poorly maintained. Rockaway, Hanover, Sparta, Madison Plaza, Oakwood, and Eagle Rock are all better places to be. Rockaway, Hanover, and Sparta are probably the three best in that order.

Three children under 10 years of age-bowled 4 games-price for each game was $4.50-toatal of $18.00-I think that’s a rip off-won’t be going back for those prices-I’ll set up pins on the lawn.

Walked in on a Friday night 1030, we were turn away rudelly. They do not take credit cards, and the place is a pig pen.Live in area, will try Sparta or Rockaway.

People are great, lanes are excellent , the snack bar food was horrible, suggest you eat before you get there.

Nice lanes..If it was 1948..Prices are VERY HIGH!!

Comment Date: 1/21/2009 Name: JOHN
The prices are out of control!!! The lanes and the place is starting to fall apart. I tripped on the carpet that is bulging up in most places. The lanes them selves well go see for your self. If you know how to bowl you will know what i mean. The oil condition forget it. But the people there are nice and greeting. But more business then personel. Theye charge for everything not good to keep people coming back. Should offer some coupons or brakes some times. This must be a third generation running things now. 1st Generation heart and sole in place to build it, 2nd Generation build business to best can ever be, 3rd usually silverspoons will run it into the ground so like i said must be on 3rd generation.

OMG What a great place!!! Lanes are as smooth as a baby’s behind, food is like it was grown in the Lord’s own personal garden, and the people are nicer than mother theresa herself. The manager personally got on his knees to put my shoes on my feet and even double knotted them!! I felt like the Queen of England with that service! Bowling under the laser lights brings me back to my college days of acid tripping and ridiculous raves. Such a good place. Bring the kids, the grandparents, the cousins, the second cousins, the family dog, but leave the cat and hamsters at home-they simply don’t belong.
I also love the shape of the pins. Great pins.

I’ve been bowling here for nearly a decade now, for leagues and parties. It’s the epitome of awesome.

I like the computer system. If they were to replace it that would mean having to shut down the bowling alley and then my bowling league would be canceled

Comment Date: 10/28/2007 Name: Bobby
Bowling in Circle lane has been awesome because lanes are kept in good condition. So far the people are very friendly, I haven’t come accross anyone with bad manors yet, hehe! As far as the price goes it is a little steep, I wish they would have more specials during the weekend or weekdays like other Bowling alleys. Lowering the price will encourage and recruit more players to come bowl. That means more money will be made. People will come in large numbers if the prices were to lower. Then the next step is to upgrade the computer sytem, the system is ancient.

i’ve been bowling here for years and i haven’t been dissapointed yet by the service or the food!i love how the lanes are kept and always look forward to bowling there!

I forgot to say how great the pizza is here, I have never had a better pie the crust just melts in your mouth and the price is great.

Comment Date: 9/21/2007 Name: julie
This bowling alley is really great staff is friendly and I don’t know why people are saying the prices are too high, I had a birthday party there and you can’t find a cheaper way to have a fun party for 8 year olds, they don’t require a deposit and the price is the same as open bowling I called around before I chose circle lanes and I couldn’t find a better price then them. Except maybe dover lanes, who are going out of business.

the food is excellent! I love to go bowling there! the prices are expensive to bowl but it is worth it!! the service in the restaraunt and alley is great!!! they work their butts off to keep it running and busy!!!! you should go, it is worth it!!!!!!

Comment Date: 2/12/2007 Name: David
by far the worst service I have ever experienced
the staff was rude to my family and made us feel terrible. When i asked to talk to a manager the woman running the bar told me she was the manager and made the point that if the staff was rude, its because they were right.
First. my daughter (23 years old) asked for shoes and the man told her to wait a damn second
second. my 32 yr old son was asked why he did not have more than 1 valid form of id when he asked for a beer by the “2nd” manager. He pulled out credit cards and his social security card and the woman said “nope, don’t believe you are 32, you and everyone you came with is denied service from the bar”.
after both these incidents I refuse to bowl there.

Not a “bowling and beer” type of place. bowling yes. drinking not really.

Comment Date: 12/12/2006 Name: Dave
People shocked about $4 games? Wow. I bowl in a center where it’s $4.35 per game on weekends. Cheaper specials on most nights. It’s the whole supply and demand. The times that most people come to bowl, will more than likely be more expensive.

This is a great lane. People say it is expenive, but it is well worth it. Great food and even better lanes

Lanes are very nice and is fun to Bowl but the Price forces me to go elsewhere. Same as there Mac Machine, too costly.

Comment Date: 1/15/2006 Name: Will
The lanes are really good, especially when it works well with the curve. The food and drink prices are good, but the game costs are unreasonable on the weekends. $4 for one game on weekends. I never heard of that before.
