Once again it is that time of year again. Lack of oil. Different lane conditions to favor the lower average bowlers as we struggle to hit 180’s on a condition for 7 months was able to average 215 on. Talked with some employees and they think it has something to do with new management trying to save on expenses by thinning out the oil and not properly stripping the lanes. Oh well my last year anyway with about 20 others thatI know of. Off to Strike n Spare I go.

Well I now remember why I originally stopped bowing here. It has already begun once again, those darn flyers promoting their summer leagues once again. All over the place. What a joke as I watch the poor guys clean them up after our league is done right into the trash. They seem to go through the same process prior to the league as I see tons of their flyers in the trash already. SAVE A TREE FOR CRYYING OUT LOUD Went to the desk to ask about a specific league I heard about and it only took the desk girl 5 minutes to find me the flyer because of the quantity of flyer she had to shift through. If that was not bad enough i heard Debby yelling at one of her employees on Sunday because they did not get the flyers on the lanes. If I had to work for this person I would have quit a long time ago. Everytime I see her she is complaining about people not doing their jobs, like she is any better. Remember you are a reflection of how your employees perform. Try motivating them instead of yelling at them. Works for me.

Thanks for the recognition Last Year. Not as good as it has been though. Seems in their glorious wisdom that they have changed their program and now only give out games that expire sooner than the original ones and they can not be used on the weekends. Kind of s*cks since my buyer is no longer willing to take them from me. Oh well, still a good value though. You should join this league though if you are paying over $12 a week to just bowl that is crazy. They run .99 game specials on Wednesday nights and after 8 on Sunday it is 10 bucks for 3 games with shoes included. Why someone even bowls in a league is anybodys guess.
Also I heard some bowlers talking about the PRO AM and why they did not enter. Seeems as if you average 190 or higher, even if you bowl 3 300’s you can not even cash. Now that makes no sense. When I asked them who is capable of bowling 3 300’s they explained to me that it is NO TAP which means if you get down 9 pins on your 1st ball you receive a strike for that frame. Sounds like another ripoff and a windfall for bowlers with lower averages. Wonder why they do not change the structure and have different classes. Seems like this would have been fairer.
Well any way maybe I will see you next session in our league. The guy that runs it is really cool and even helps with bowling tips.

I am back. Pro Tour is back at Brunswick. Bleachers set up 3 weeks ahead of their arrival. Great job as the kids now use this as their jungle gyms (lawsuits should start any day now). Good one from Good Old Days bowler. Sells his games, what a hoot. Did I mention our league once again took a back seat to High School tournaments and had to once again wait while they reoiled lanes for our league. Oh wait scratch that, we just had to wait for all of the parents, students, and coaches to clear off of our lanes. They did not reoil because the staff was spending their time cleaning up soda cans and food from the high school bowlers and their audience. You know COKE cans from their vending machines and platters from their snack bar. OH WAIT wrong again, this was OUTSIDE FOOD that we as league bowlers have been disallowed from bringing in to the lanes.
Once again the league bowler has taken a back seat to others. Tournament coming in on Sunday and I betcha the league does not start on time or they are moved to different lanes. Why not, they only pay Brunswick weekly fees and they make so much more on these tournaments (SARCASM).
Bottom line is I pay to bowl each week at a certain time and I pay good money to do so. WE ARE TIRED OF BEING TREATED AS SECOND CLASS BOWLERS. Schedule your tournaments earlier or at least ask the league to start at a later time rather than have us all stand there in our coats and eying us up and down because we go on to the lanes to set up.

WOW I joined this great league and had a wonderful time with my daughter. At the end of the season I got the same thing that the other Adult Child bowlers received and I paid less than they did. LOL It was 8 bucks a week only and I got free games that I sold to friends for $6.00 each (3 Games per card). Net cost to me, only $2 per week to bowl and we got free food at the end and participation trophies. Was thinking about joining an adult league, but WHY LOL when I can do this for a hellava lot less money.

Comment Date: 9/20/2011 Name: Last Year as a Regular League Bowler
Why do I call myself this? Because I talked with our league treasurer and come to find out I pay $12 a week for 3 games of bowling. This is ridiculous for guaranteed income that the house would never realize anyway. To make matters worse I can now join a league that starts in early October for $8 per week and include 3 free games for 12 weeks. That is $1.33 per game. I really think that if the house were to lower the league rates, bowlers may actually come back. To join a league and not even 2 weeks later have a flyer thrust in your face to join a league where I would only pay $1.33 per game as opposed to $4.00 per game. Well next year I will wait and just not join. I have a suggestion for our league. Lets fold and come back, bowl 3 12 weeks sessions and put $12.00 per week in our prize fund instead of $8.00 per week per bowler. Do you realize we could now increase our prize fund by 12K. WAKE UP BRUNSWICK CORP and bring the good old days back to the leagues that have been in your house for over 40 years.

Made an inquiry concerning a summer league this past month. Wanted to speak with someone and was told Aida (think I spelled this right) runs the junior program. She was paged to the desk and let me tell you when I saw what a bother it was for her I totally changed my mind. What an attitude on this woman. I was told that the junior program had already started and that I would have to wait until September. Come on, it was the week after Memorial Day. I usually have had a positive experiences here but this woman needs a serious attitude adjustment. Management may have to reconsider who they put in charge of their programs because she obviously was more interested in hanging behind the counter than staying with her league that she was supposedly called away from to talk with me. At least that is where she was the entire time I was at my lane bowling. WHAT A WASTE and a bad reflection on their staff.

Well let me tell you something John. I was there this past weekend and your description of this woman Cathy was way off from what I witnessed. Some little kid came to her and asked about tokens where she begin to belittle the child becuse she was too busy doing some type of paperwork. The parent was quite irate and confronted this beast of a woman and reamed her a new one. Kudos to the parent for sticking up for her child.

Reading the posts and came across the one about the “older guy” named Ken. Thought it was kind of funny since I also had a similar experience. Wonder how he feels about being described as the older guy :). Seriously though I really do not think he is that old, just older than the typical teen working there.
Was at a party a few weeks ago and our assigned party host was Meredith (teenager). What an awesome job she did and it was not an easy group to say the least. Kathy (think she is older than Ken) did an awesome job as well and checked with us to ensure everybody was happy. I was quite impressed all was set prior to us coming in even though the party room was unable to be used.
I also had the pleasure of speaking with Ken who I also honestly thought was the manager but was doing something or other with the Junior leagues. He was walking through and greeted me and asked if we all were having a good time. He suggested “we continue the fun” by asking us to sign up for a league. Sometimes you can tell when an employee just likes their job. Ken, Kathy, and Meredith were really good at it and it showed in their enthusiasm. I am unable to commit to the offered time slots of any of your leagues but I thought it was really nice that Ken referred me to the sales manager Debbie who would work with our group to create a “themed league” as Ken put it. I was told that Debbie has been here for years and really enjoys working with the customers and that she would be able to answer all of my questions. I really thought this was top notch customer service and would strongly recommend this house for party or league bowling.

Picking up on traveling bowler’s comments. Brunswick Zone Carolier is without a doubt one of the best looking and best run bowling centers in the U.S. The only other centers that I would put ahead of Carolier are the centers in Las Vegas (especially South Point, Suncoast, and Red Rock) Woodland Bowl in Indianapolis, Columbus Square Palace in Columbus, OH and East Providence Lanes in Rumford, RI. I hope the U.S Open reamins at Carolier Lanes for years to come.

Personally, I travel quite often through the tri-state area. And whenever I pass a bowling alley, I have an urge to try the lanes out. I personally average around 210 at most houses and I rate a bowling alley upon it’s staff, how clean, and prices. Brunswick Zone Carolier has to be one of the best bowling alleys towards staff and especially on how well they take care of the place. A few other places I went to it was so dirty that I felt it would take years to clean. Brunswick Zone Carolier I do believe can be considered the ‘Yankees house of America’. Stating that there isn’t any place much better. Monday and Wednesday nights they have great deals as well. For when I’m in Central Jersey they will be expecting my business!

The staff here is awesome. There is this one guy that runs the place on Sunday nights that is always helping out the customers. I thought he was the Manager but it turned out he just runs the junior leagues I was told. He helped me out the last time I was there because I wanted bumpers down. I had been waiting forever when he noticed that I was a pit peeved. He walked up to me instead of running awa to see if all was OK. I explained to him I had been waiting 20 minutes to have the bumpers taken down. He did that and then 5 minutes later he gave to me and my son a free game and sincerely apolgized for any inconvenience. He also talked to me about joining a summer league whcih I may do if he is running it. He is a fine example of what customer service is. I think his name was Ken and he was an older gentleman.

This place is great!! great staff too. this is the 56th bowling alley i’ve been to and what sets this apart is not only is it the largest (82 lanes) but also where the pros go (currently) for us open and johnny petraglia open. maybe not everyone may think thats a big deal but i think visiting a pro’s bowling alley is exciting and an experience to remember!!

I have been to quite a few bowling alleys from the midwest to the east coast and this is my favorite. Great setup to view the lanes, snack bars w/ beer on both ends, and nice bar. Scotty O is the man!(Go Mets) The one guy was right though, there seems to be a LOT of drama there especially with the female staff; comes with the territory I guess. All in all, everybody is pretty decent with the customers there. I would say the best were Scotty O, Paul, Lori, & Nicole. They’re the best.:) I cant say who’s my favorite, but darlin you are missed dearly. Catch y’all next time

I will definitely give kudos to the staff because I thought that my bag with some accessories in it was lost for good during the US Open with no chance of recovery. After leaving my name and phone number at the desk, I received a phone call that the bag was found and they would be able to ship it back to me since I did not live too close. I think that was great!

Ok all you people need to blow your comments out your a**. This is getting stupid now. First of all these comments about Robin aren’t needed. Shes a nice person and has her lapses of being a nasty person. I wonder why that is….maybe because people like you piss her off with your constant stares at her and your talking down to her. You would prob be pissy too if you had that done to you. Debbie is a nice person too shes just extremely busy she runs almost everything in that place so thats why shes prob nasty. The service there is good. The front desk is always ready to hear what you have to say and are ready to fufill it. Customer service on the other hand has went down alot the CSR are never showing up when they are called for a problem and half the time i’m fixing the lane myself. The lanes are excellent still very predictible and accept friction alot easier than other bowling alleys. The food is also getting better but needs work. If you have complaints about the alley just keep them to yourself nobody wants to hear them. As they taught most of you in school treat others the way you want to be treated.

i Think these lanes are great……..For all the people who think there horrible means your a horrible bowler. I shot my first 300 here(not sactioned). I love this place alot. and if its so crapy why do they always have the US open here

Jeff doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Robin is always friendly and knowledgeable about the game of bowling. Whenever I see her there, she is always working hard to keep her customers happy. Plus, she looks great in jeans! The rest of the staff is nice too.

Just to come to think of it. You get to see many of the pro’s just going here a whole lot. And even the underground pro’s. This place is home to many of them and always will be.

Comment Date: 11/23/2008 Name: Messy
I was just reading through many of the comments on this site. And it really gets me pissed off. People are just judging a book by it’s cover. Especially everyone saying Robin is hott or she’s rude or etc… Honestly, Robin is a nice person. You may have caught her at a bad time. Everyone reading this, think back, were you always nice to every single person, even if you were having the crappiest day of your life? I don’t think so, I think you may make a few rude comments to me. Plus many of the guys posting this is probably just staring at her nonstop and they just drool. They probably think that she is easy or something and come on here and cry because they have no {deleted} with Robin. Next is due to Debbie. If you are critisizing her than that’s just wrong. I’ve been going here for a long time, and I even travel to other lanes. People at other lanes I give them second chances and their nice. But Debbie has to be one of the nicest, caring people there. Plus one of the most hard working people I have ever met. If anyone needs help or has a question, she’s always there to help out. And the rest of the staff, such as the snack bar. You don’t only need one person there to cheer you up. Personally there isn’t one person at the bowling alley I don’t feel comfortable with. Everyone there is like family to me. Especially the people in the snack bar. And the front desk, CSR’s and party hosts. After traveling to many other bowling alleys. Brunswick Zone Carolier has to be in the top 2. (What may be first is no longer there)

Comment Date: 11/13/2008 Name: Jeff
This place is full of drama. Everytime I go there some girl that works there is crying while some other girl is fighting with their boyfriend. One time I had to wait to get my lane fixed because this girl at the front desk was fighting with someone on the phone. Whatever happened to keeping your personal life out of the workplace? Nicole the pizza girl is very nice and it looks like she works the hardest out of many people there. The DJ is great, too. He played the best hits for a bowling alley. Oh and and the girl everyone seems to think is hot, Robin, is very rude actually. I made sure to check her out last time I went (to see what all the hype was about) and she talks down to everyone like their an idiot. I think she posts these comments herself. Hot? Really? I call her “canks” for those grandma legs of hers. Me and my boys were looking for a good time, and all we get is girls being girls.

This place is my 2nd home. Never is there a time when i’m there that I have no one. I’m good friends with all the staff also.Me, Byrnes, and Messy are the three muskateers of this bolwing alley. In the summer im there 4 times a week and during school 3 times. The staff is amazing and everything, and i mean everytihng is in great condition. Not a big fan of the snack bar accept when Jen is working cause shes cool as hell. The fornt desk always accepts coupons and leaugue’s are run very well. I love coming here. Evreything happens here and its awsome.

brunswick zone carolier is prob the best bowling center in the state, if not the whole east coast or country. the staff is great there and always look forward to helping the customers. the CSR’s always walk around looking forward to help someone in need, and the desk staff is always there if you need help or have questions.the party people are great too they assist you in any way they can and if they cant then they will gladly get some one to help you with no problems. so any one that makes rude or obnoxious comments about this bowling center doesn’t know what they are talking about.these lanes are great and if the pro’s have been coming for the past couple of years then they must be doing something right.

I have been to out to Carolier for 2 junior tournaments, and I have to say the place is a goldmine. I don’t know how many other centers would accomodate a JBT beginning at 2 AM Saturday and Sunday morning, putting out a tricky shot aswell.
I dont know how the open bowling is, as I take the game seriously, but If I get a chance I will definately be returning for some leagues and tournaments in the future.

Comment Date: 5/30/2008 Name: funbowler
it seems all the nice coments are from league bowlers. I agree that Carolier is very nice to the league bowlers and very rude and condisending to the open bowlers.
Most of the time however we just get ignored.

Comment Date: 4/19/2008 Name: Messy
Okay, I have been coming to this place for about 13 years. My uncle, an ex pro bowler, loved this place and Midstate lanes more than anything. The pro-shop at Carolier is very reasonable and also a great staff. The snack bar I’ll admit is just a bit too pricey, that I can’t stand. But just being there with about two or three friends. Join leagues and having fun. It’s sometimes what I look foward of doing all week. This place is like home to a lot of people. And to a lot of others it’s considered as a great bowling alley. The staff here are nice people, same with the manager. This has been the most respectful bowling alley I have ever stepped into. After I do travel to other lanes around New Jersey and some in Pennsylvania.

I just bowled in the Pro-Am during the US Open. I was so glad that there was NO SMOKING!! My biggest complaint was the fact that I had to stand up the whole time I bowled because there was 10 people on our pair and only 5 seats. What is the problem? I hate to have to walk up steps to sit on the “bleachers” and risk getting something on my shoes from the slobs that drink and eat back there. I had great scores there though and I’m waiting to see where they post the scores. I will definitely be back next year! I do agree with some of the other posts about the older woman taking orders in the lounge. She is “gruff” and the place could really use a thorough cleaning. I only ordered fries because I was afraid of the dirt and thought all germs would die in the oil. Clean it up or close it down.

I have visited Carolier once before and had a pretty good time with a group of friends. Although it was a bit pricey I decided to return again hoping for a nice evening with friends. However, the second time I went I was not at all impressed with the customer service my friends and I received and we immediately left. — We entered through the resturant and as soon as we stepped foot inside the establishment a man sitting on the bar stool made a offensive comment to the old woman taking orders behind the register. First we were taking back by the comment and we asked him to repeat himself but he just rolled his eyes. We decided to not let one ignorant customer mess up our night so we turned to the old lady behind the counter and asked her a question about the menu. She had a very bad attitude and snapped back with her answer to our question. She then snapped “are you ordering something or not?” At this point it was clear that our business was not welcome at this establishment so we answered “no, we are leaving.” She then rolled her eyes, turned her back on us and pretended to be busy until we exited the building. — This type of treatment was not called for and very disrespectful. It has been over 10 months since this occured and although this is the closest bowling alley to my home, I have not and do not intend to return. My friends and I were throughly disgusted.

As a family who lives in these alleys for leagues and sheer love of the sport, it’s a great alley with wonderful conditions. However the food really needs to be taken up a notch for taste and the people there do not seem happy to be working there, can’t tell if individually or as a team. Additionally when you ask 1 person about open lanes you get 1 answer, another gives you another. C’mon guys, simplify. You just need to set up an Outlook calendar or something on your computers of what tournaments and leagues are taking up what amount of lanes AND time, so you can give people honest answers and not make them waste their time going. Those two things being improved would easily make this the best bowling center in all of central NJ (who knows maybe all NJ, but we don’t go outside of central looking).

Monday nights at carolier are great. $1.50 games and they have a program for open bowlers to win free bowling if they get strikes. Also, a really sweet girl named Robin works at the desk, mostly the reason why I like to go. I’ve gotten some chances to watch her bowl too. She’s pretty and a good bowler.

This is a great place to Bowl. The lane conditions are very consistent. The only negative thing I can say is the WAIT TIME for open bowling is ridiculous. The front end people take way too long, to get you setup on the Lanes. CUSTOMER SERVICE is key! I know sometimes its difficult when its busy, but then Brunswick needs to add more people onto their staff, for the weekends to ensure YOUR CUSTOMER’s have a positive experience. Aside from that, you guys ROCK!

I recently had my child’s birthday party at Carolier Lanes. Despite hundreds of kids and their parents in attendance for what seemed like 20 parties, the parties were very well organized and FUN! The hosts seemed to have the most fun while working and my child had an amazing time and has already made up her mind about having her party again there next year. Although, I think the DJ bribed her tho considering he played every Hannah Montana song my daughter requested. All in all the most fun I’VE ever had at a kids birthday!

Im Sry, but the service there s*cks everyone is on there cell phone or just d*cking around, I bowl in leagues there the lanes are great, and they are very well prepared for there leagues. The only people there that are really nice and always fast to help people are ryan, and ben. so people need to get there storys straight, a lot of bowling centers have there problems but carolier should be more prepared to help others. they need to start dropping the dead weight and get more helpful people that love there job and the game.

People whom speak negative about the brunswick zone center has no idea what they are talking about. In fact, the BZ Carolier has done everthing right when speaking of customer services and rights.. People who feel otherwise such as “Joe” should become real men and women and show themsleves. “Joe” is just really upset cause he could not hack-it as an employee at brunswick zone…. HaHa what a looser “Joe”. If you have so much to say.. say it with your real name….!!!

I don’t know what Joe is talking about, Debbie is so good with running th leagues, my kids have bowled in at least five differet leagues there and we are always treated so very well, I can’t imagine anyone saying anything bad about her, as for Robin, she is always smiling and seems to be working very hard when we are there, get a life Joe and stop trying to bash the best bowling ally in the state of New Jersey.

It is time to stop bashing Debbie and Robin. This is getting ridiculous and it needs to stop. Debbie is a really great person and is extremely helpful to everyone. Robin has always been nothing but professional and very helpful too. Just because you’re upset with something that happened to you, doesn’t give you the right to say things that aren’t true about these two women. Carolier lanes is a GREAT place to bowl & bring the family!!!!

“Joe” loves to call people “stupid” and “jerk”. He personally attacks people; not what this website was designed for. We should all feel bad for his “kid”, and respect his intelligence for continuing to patronize a place that he refers to as a “mess”. I am assured that all the “stupid jerks” he refers to will be brokenhearted when he quits his league.

Robin is hardly a coach! When she works with my child, all she talks about is getting drunk! I just got a new coach and he is alot better!

I disagree, I have been bowling at Brunzwick Zone for many years and have only had great experiences. Their coaching staff, led by Debbie Stein is superior. If you think the place is bad, think again, maybe its you!

The new girl, Robin, that runs some of the leauges is one of the nicest and friendliest people at the bowling ally. She is very organized and can do anything she sets her mind to. She is a good coach and knows what is going on (unlike other people).

Brunswick Zone Carolier is great ally and the place would fall apart if Debbie Stein Wasn’t there to organize and run many of the events. She is always stressed with more work than anyone else there and manages to do everything with the added destraction of people that always want to talk to her. She is always polite and happy. She is there when people need her and there to help people improve their bowling.

ok guys, first off, debby.
she is one of the friendliest people i know.
she helps me and many other people who bowl there with many things in many ways.
the staff over there is also amazing.
they all will go out of thier way to please you and make you feel special, so i have no idea what the hell you are talking about.
second, hugh jass-
grow up.
your name is rediculous and obviously if your REAL bowler who supposedly avgs in the upper 280s which you don’t you wouldn’t bowl a 57.

Worst experience ever! Was annoyed by some jerk named Debbie Stein, went to complain to the manager, he was palying video games with some other girl. What a mess of a place!

Best lanes. The condition is great, the place is great. The lanes are in good condition. If the PBA has the US open here, im sure they are doing something right. Good house to bowl in.

Very nice place, big and clean. It is now a NO SMOKING alley which is fine (though I do smoke a little but now I go outside). Better place now for the family. I used to drive 25 minutes from Princeton because it was worth the $1.50 games on Monday nights after 9 PM. Overall a very good bowling alley.

Greatest Center I’ve ever been to. Very clean, great lane conditions. cant wait to start a sport shot league there in a few days.

I am from West Milford NJ and I bowl on my high school team. I just bowled a 300 and a 278 on Saturday in the state tourney. You probably heard about me, I’m going to be bowling there on Presidents Day for the team and individual tournament. I just wanted to say that I heard your lanes were great and I hope they are. When I bowl I want it to be the best experience ever.

I can’t wait to see the PBA Tournament hosted here next week.

The best center I have been too. Great atmosphere. Great lanes. Good food too.

I personally think Carolier has a consistently good pattern. It’s not Carolier’s fault if bowlers can’t adjust to the inside to maintain their 280 averages. And Noble Roman’s is awesome.

Comment Date: 1/7/2006 Name: Hugh Jass
I am normally a 280 ish bowler, but the lanes here were so crappy. There was so much oil on the lanes my ball just kept slidding into the damn gutter! I bowled a 57! I will never bowl here again!!!!

This is my favorite bowling alley. The lane conditions are good, the food is good, and it is very fun there.

The lane conditions are very good here!

The last time I was there they wiped out the left side. Make the shot as fair as possible and stop the lefty tweak. John is watching.

Hi, I wish not to receive any more post cards in the mail cause I already belong to a bowling alley. Thanks!

This place is very interesting.

Comment Date: 11/18/2005 Name: Bowlstarr!
Ok, this place is huge, which is good. Unfortunately, unless you are on a league, don’t expect to be able to just go when you feel like it. The store hours are a bit short, but they can be flexible if you talk to them. There are a few too many Indian families that bring out 8 balls for 3 people then steal your ball, but if you burn them with your cigarette, they will leave you alone.

Brunswick Carolier is probably the best bowling alley in NJ. Very clean… lane conditions are always consistant… and the equiptment never fails…. Can’t wait to start my winter league there this year.

Comment Date: 7/6/2005 Name: Anonymous
The staff that runs the leagues are very helpful and dedicated to keeping everything organized as much as possible. The hosts and hostesses who run the children’s birthday parties, and who may coach the children’s leagues, are hardworking and cordial as well.

This bowling lane is very dirty and overrun with smokers. People are smoking too damn much. Can we use our report cards or what or free bowling passes?

Comment Date: 5/13/2005 Name: Anonymous
I have had attitude at the front desk, and they did not attend to us professionally.

Comment Date: 2/22/2005 Name: Dave Bowler
I think you handled the Pro_Am horribly…..You left eveyone in the air as far as their finishing status..And I’ve been trying to get results for over a week now. I know you have the Pro’s there, but it is the US OPEN and that means that Amateurs are PEOPLE too, and should not be ignored and treated rudely.

I just had the best experience at Brunswick ZONE Carolier. I was there open bowling over the weekend. The staff is nice, the center is clean and the food is good. We all had a great time. I know they do corporate parties, too.

This bowling center is very clean. The staff is very helpful and the lane conditions are good. I would consider having my company’s holiday party here if they have room.
