I bowl at wallington lanes atleast twice a week and I personally know most of the staff …I also know who “tired of the whining” nothing he said is not true. I have seen that done atleast a dozen times…dnt go their and act like an a**h*le..I dnt know how u dnt give this place a 10 out of 10 their service is great and those that are complaining of pricing I have bowled in most of the bowling alleys in the area such as parkway lanes Lodi lanes brunswick lanes and bowler city …the managers at the other alleys are a**h*les..and for whoever said that the managers aren’t real bowlers then challenge them to a match…they all bowl in leagues and hold outstanding averages!!!

for anyone who has been to wallington lanes before or for those who may be coming soon. watch out for the snack bar “manager”. i only use that term because it’s her offical title. she in no way lives up to her position. she would rather write false statements to the center red book than do her job. she is very rude to customers and has charged wrong prices to them. i would recomend going to another center to bowl.

i love when managers at this place have no idea what is going on yet feel they should open their mouths. one manager loves to do this and i still wonder how he has a job. the manager i’m refering to is the snack bar manager. he is very rude not only to other employees but also customers. he just loves to yell and “repremand” employees who are doing what they were told to do by higher managers including charles the general manager. all while having no clue as to what is going on. thanks for making wallington lanes an unfriendly place eileen

Hello again people im back again with another installment of “check urself before you bash us” my last comments explained a few examples of how some people act when they come to wallington lanes. Heres a few more morsels for you to chew on. These both occured just last night. A group of guys and girls was bowling on an end lane. As im coming back from the mens room i see 1 of the guys running down to the machine area so i go after him. I found him standing in the back shop area holding a ball. I said “sir u have to leave, ur not allowed back here” his response(get ready for this) “why not? My girlfriends ball came back here and i thought id look around” i was speechless! Ok,come and have fun bowling but if u REALLY dont understand why u cant just walk into the machine area then u shouldnt be allowed outside without adult supervision! The next example happened 4 lanes down. A couple of wiseguys launched 3 16lb balls, simultaneously, down the lane. Obviously hitting, and breaking, the sweep. When the manager confronted them about it the response was”wasnt us,it just broke” um yeah ok. ATTN bowlers 1. Just because you pay 5.50 for a game, you are NOT allowed in the machine area or to run down the lanes and get your own balls. 2. If u do intentional damage you will be asked to leave. If these seem unfair then please find something else to do with your time.

i read all the comments about wallington lanes and although no opinion can be construed as wrong….grow up people! i happen to work there as a mechanic and my experiences with some people just defies belief. i like dealing with people but how some of you act just falls into the “oh my god!” category. one example i remember was a group of about 15 people, who obviously had too much to drink, who actually accused me of hiding behind the lanes and messing with their games(yup, ive got nothing better to do). and if i had a nickel for every time i had to chase open bowlers off the lanes(and i mean down by the machine area)because they seem to think its their right just to walk down the lanes and put themselves in jeopardy, id own amf!

My friends and I bowl here once a week. We love the waitress service because we can eat and drink while never having to leave our lane. The food is actually real food not like some mom and pop dinner quality food. If you go on certain nights the bowling is VERY reasonably priced. Wed nights $5 for the 1st game $1 for every other game and a $1 for shoes. We always get fresh shot of oil before our league too. Def the nicest bowling atmosphere around!

Reading some peoples comments, your not serious bowlers lol.
You can’t ever have lanes that are too oily. There is never too much oil on the lane when your talking about a THS.
I was out here for a JBT, and the place is very well kept, the machines are in good working order, and I will definately be returning for tournaments in the future.

TWO WORDS: SELL OUT! This place is a joke. Lanes are good but the staff & everything else there stinks. RUDE RUDE RUDE & the prices are through the roof!

This is a very rude, unhappy place. The people behind the counter don’t do a thing to make your experience there a better. They always seem annoyed you ask them for something. The manager looks like a company drone that should receive some lessons in being a human being. I have one bit of advise for all the people wortking at Wallington Lanes, if you are that unhappy with your jobs, then maybe you should go work somewhere else. They are only interested in collecting the money and getting rid of you. The previous post is a perfect example of this place having no heart.

We held a charity event at Wallington Lanes on 4/26/08 and all I can say is the staff including the manager on duty was very rude not only to me but all of my supporters from the time we stepped foot in the door and to make matters worse when we received the bill it was nearly $6,000 when I had a contract of $2,200. The manager could not add on a calculator to save his life, so my accountant (thank God she was there) figured out the bill for him. It was just a very horrible experience and unfortunately our annual event that we’ve hosted at this bowling alley for the past 2 years will be held elsewhere next year. I’ve never been treated like this in my life and it was very hurtful to say the least. I use to recommend them to everyone, now I will NEVER recommend them in the future.

Overall wallington lanes is pretty good. its a very well kept 1980s style alley. three sets of alleys. the main prob about this place is overpriced food and all ways mostly crowded. lane wise, to me there is a 50/50 chance they will be good. either to oily or to dry. also some of the workers are unfriendly towards younger teens. this sis definitively a family oreinted alley. personally i like less crowded and unadvertised alleys. i would only go to wallington for leagues. i personally wouldn’t go for practice. i would rate them a 5 out of ten

For all bowlers,Greg Nichols, and Mike McKinley are the ones at AMF that deals with the bowling centers everyday operations. So,if you have complaints, call 1-800-342-5263.Things won’t get better until you people call these jokers.

Comment Date: 11/29/2007 Name: concerned bowler
my advice to anyone that has complaints about this,or any amf center, call 1-800-dial-amf,and follow the can complain all you want, but nothing’s going to get done until the main corporate office gets these complaints.they do have a rep for east coast, that can deal with this situation,or any other center!keep in mind, amf doesn’t pay squat for employees, when it comes to running a bowling center.the more people complain to amf,the better.remember, you get what what you pay for.

I give them a score of 1 out of ten, and thats only because they had bowling balls for us to use. If you went there, you would understand why such a simply basic thing impressed me so much. I was one of the party for the Oct 27th, 2007 birthday night out for some “Extreme Bowling.” I have a few extremes for you…extremely terrible music, extremely rude guy who treated us like we were trying to steal frames of the game (though we already paid for it), extremely poor customer service except for this one guy, extremely unprofessional dealing of issues in their lanes, extremely annoying to wait 15 minutes for Nachos because the workers are too busy flirting with each other, extremely horrible atmosphere, and did I mention extremely terrible music? Here is the funny part, their add actually says:Xtreme Bowling. An adventure in lights, music, wild bowling challenges, and your favorite food and beverages! That is hilarious because there was HORRIBLE music, NO cool lights, and the food was way OVERPRICED. We actually went home to play bowling on the Wii since it s*cked so badly here. I read bad reviews about this place, but went anyway because I had gone a couple of months ago and it was ok. I WILL NEVER MAKE THE MISTAKE OF WASTING MY MONEY AND A SATURDAY NIGHT HERE. Bowler City in Hackensack or Brunswick Lanes for night time bowling if you are looking to stay fairly local.

My friends and I have gone here a couple of times in the past for ‘extreme bowling’ on saturday nights, and have usually had a great time with great music. This saturday, however, october 27th, was atrocious. We (10 of us) arrived at 10:45 and found it odd that half the parking lot was empty. We go in, pay for our shoes and 1st game. The teams were 6 girls against 4 guys. The guys finished first, and that put us on a ‘timer’ to finish in a certain amount of time, which we were not aware of. At the top of the 10th frame, our game turns off. When we tried to ask for help, this IDIOT who kept walking around the place like he was DON CORLEONE with a coffee stirrer sticking out of his mouth, was rude as anything for no reason. 1st he tried to say we bowled extra frames, then my sister pointed out the stupidity behind that, so he just walked away from her, mumbling “the problem is, you f****** people don’t know how to…” and i didn’t hear the rest of it. This is the language he used in front of 2 teenage girls who were with us, by the way. On top of that guy being a completely rude idiot, the price of food was outrageous. It’s Wallington, not Beverly Hills!!! My niece orders a slice of pizza and a soda, and that cost TEN DOLLARS!!! The music, which used to be great and modern, was some underground slow mopey garbage. We never even heard of most of the singers in the videos. We recognized one artist, KT Tunstall, that’s it. The manager and the other guy behind the counter were as nice as could be, and the manager almost didn’t know who we were talking about when we told him what happened with the other guy. This whole night was for my sister’s birthday, and it was just horrible. THE ONE GUY ON THE STAFF IS BEYOND RUDE, THE FOOD IS WAY OVER PRICED, THE MUSIC WAS RIDICULOUSLY TERRIBLE FOR A SATURDAY NITE OF “EXTREME BOWLING”, ETC. THIS NIGHT EXPLAINS WHY THE PARKING LOT WAS SO EMPTY! I’LL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN, ESPECIALLY WITH BOWLER CITY NEARBY!!!!

I bowl HS league there and we never get fresh oil. Maybe will be better this coming yr. Never oil anytime for open bowling so its a waste of time to practice there. Overpriced food and bowling. Every hour of the day doesnt have to be disco bowling. If u r actually serious about bowling dont go here unless ur league here gets oil..

This place s*cks. It has to easy a shot and you have all these house bowlers averaging 230 who think they know what they are doing. when they go to a real house like bowler city all they do is wine on how hard a shot it is. the food also s*cks and bar is overpriced.

AMF should wake up and place real BOWLING PEOPLE in their centers. I remember a few years ago that there was a group of employees that really started to make things happen there. I bowled in 3 leagues and also used to go there for the Rock and Bowl that had a guy who ran Karaoke. I would come with a group of 10 or more and we had a ball. He sang and got people to sing, and ran contests, it was something we looked forward to. Then all of a sudden he was gone, then the people who cared were gone and then things were not so great at this house. And so the cycle continues…this manager is not from our area and she really is just going through the phases. I too asked for a certain set of lanes and it was the manager that turned to me and said Maam, you get what we give you!..I mean, there were people bowling on the end 4 lanes and all I wanted was a set of lanes between them and my party of 8. We were placed next to some kids who were just chucking the ball and when we asked to be moved we were informed that it wasnt possible to do. We ended the game, our first game, and then left. It was then, and only then that the manager showed some interest. Like I said earlier……each year AMF management gets worse and worse. I will be looking into other lanes, even if I have to drive out of Wallington to bowl. Its such a shame…

I’ve bowled in this place once (7/7/06). I was there to try out my new bowling ball which I bought and had drilled there (outstanding service from the pro shop there). I was not so impressed by the staff, however. First, they did not give me a lane in the area where I requested (where it was brightly lit, and some bowlers were practicing – there are three sets of lanes in this center), then they assigned me to a lane where all the parties were being held, then they turned off the lights for “Xtreme Bowling” (where they use fluorescent pins and crank up the music to a deafening volume), then they assign a group of people who know nothing about bowling etiquette (they start their approach while I am just about to start mine) to the lane next to mine. Try hitting the (almost invisible) arrows under those conditions.
Finally, after one terrible game, I asked the resident pro, Randy, to assist me in getting a lane in the other side of the center. When checking out, I asked why I wasn’t assigned a lane there in the first place, and was told that “we try to keep everyone together.”
On the other hand, I did not experience any breakdown in the facilities as related elsewhere in this forum. The service could be better, though. I’d rate this place a 3 out of 5.

Worst bowling alley we ever went to. Incompetent managment.
When we first came to the place we asked if we will have to pay for my 3 years old daughter , and we were told that we have to pay only for shoes rental. After first round our lane was blocked because of some birthday party (which we were not informed of). Finaly after complaining that we did not come here for 45 min. we got another lane.(which broke 3 times). When we went to pay we were charged for my 3 year old too. Manager was wery rude (she was the one that told us she can play for free). When I remainded her that before we started I asked her about free playing she responded “I must of misunderstood you”. We payed for the game after all. I would never go back to that place again, and I do not recomend it to anyone.

I have been bowling in this house for the last 15 years and it has got worse and worse every year. They dumped a lot of money into dressing the place up but the machinery has been nothing trouble. The league I’m in is constantly shifting to different lanes because the keep breaking down. They have a staff of people that really have no idea on how to repair the equipment. We keep losing teams each year on our league mainly because of the conditions of the lanes and the faulty equipment. They just don’t seem to care there what so ever.

Went to this place on a recommedation from another center in Clifton NJ. Needed to buy new ball & get it drilled. Waited 10 min before I could find anyone to tell me when drill shop was open. No hours posted. It’s stuck in a corner somewhere. Couple of young guys run it but are never there! Price for plug & redrill expensive too!-$70 Went to Metro bowl instead! Oh- the lanes are OK But the people running things are rude. If I needed abuse I could call the phone company. John

Please tell me why bigger is better. This center is an example of why Corperate America needs a slap, and I suspect this center is up for one-nobody at the front desk when I got there, nobody to pin chase, nobody to attend the proshop(do they even have one? I couldn’t find it)Nobody could tell me for sure when the pro shop was open- or when I could book a birthday party for my son or what time it was.
Now the good news! Lanes are good, snackbar is good, & restrooms are good! Bar seems to ration alcohol(a shortage I suspect). Everything is Expensive! No posted specials- I think they make it up as they go along. All and all a 2.5 out of 5.

The lanes are nice and convenient to my home. I don’t like the manager and the district manager for this house. I have had a problem with AMF at this house for some time now. The manager seems to drag his feet and not give timely answers as well as just ignoring the matter at hand. He is only still at his position because he has the district manager protecting him. They are real good friends and share in whatever booty is extracted from AMF. The district manager has an in with the pinball and vending machines and shares his cut with the manager. He lacks the skills to deal with people and he will delegate someone else to deal with a problem. The house looks great and would be even greater if AMF just cleaned house and put people in the system who can do the job without having their full interests elsewhere.
