This place is a dump. The bathrooms are gross, food is expensive, drinks have no liquor in them and the employees are rude and unmotivated. I have been there twice in 5 months and will not return.

What a crappy place!!! Tried to bowl here last Sunday afternoon, place was filthy and a sweltering 78 degrees inside the building.. Needless to say, I left after just the one game and I also have to add, if your not going to use AC you shouldn’t be charging full price for the bowling.. WHAT A DUMP!!!!

Had a great time bowling at Dover Bowl AND it was a BIG surprise to see food that you would get at a restaurant being served in a bowling alley and it was seriously good too. Our family spent over 4 hours and had a great time. we’ll be back again soon!!

it would be nice if they would clean the bathrooms once in a great while, maintain the equipment and put some liquor in the bar drinks.

i brought my two nephews to dover bowl a couple saturday nights ago. the food was cold and expensive. i had to keep trying to find a bartender for a drink. the drinks barely had any liquor in them. the rest rooms were dirty and there were several kids under 21 drinking possibly liquor from a backpack.

Comment Date: 4/2/2010 Name: Ron
The poor condition of the machines is due to the uncaring attitude of Mark’s brother, Kris. He has allowed those machines to get worse and worse.

Comment Date: 3/9/2010 Name: John B
Gotta say haven’t been here is quite a while and they’re spending plenty of money on the place. They now have a function room, poker room ans a huge kids game area. WHAT they need to do is spend money on their equipment, it was awful. The State Tourn event was there and it was a mess, machine breakdown every few frames. PLEASE spend some money on the machinery, the place is a BOWLING CENTER ie Doverbowl…

The Dover Bowl used to be profitable and productive when it was managed by Danny Monahan. He was a people person and down to earth. He took care of the league bowlers, open bowlers, and employees. Mark being the dumba** that he is put an even bigger dumba**,Cynthia,to help manage it into the ground. All the a** kissing and backstabbing she did what did it get her in the end. The only smart bussiness move Mark ever made was getting rid of her.

Comment Date: 7/31/2009 Name: Someone who knows ALOT about Dover Bowl’s History
Mark is NOT the original owner of Dover Bowl.He and his partner Mike Downs(RIP) bought Dover Bowl from Andy Corteau Jr. in 1986.
Before that,Andy Corteau Sr. owned the lanes and Andy bought The Business from His Dad.
And even before that,The Original owners and builders of Dover Bowl, dating back to the mid 1950’s,were The Hyder Brothers. They are very weatlhy men and still are today as They built The Hyder Family Hospice Center here in Dover, next to the County Farm Jail.
As for the years of the bowling center, bars & nightclubs, employees comming, going,& fired,The drama that never ended, people abusing the place non-stop,leaving your personal life at the clock BEFORE you punch in,etc..etc..etc…There isnt enough room on the internet for me to tell you all the stories I know about Dover Bowl’s Bowling Center & Nightclubs Past.

Comment Date: 7/24/2009 Name: Jimmy
why does Mark the original owner still work at the Dover Bowl? Everybody knows he ran the place into the ground then lost it when he could not pay his mega debt now he works behind the counter as a glorified shoe boy. Customers must make comments to him all of the time. Doesnt he have any respect for himself. He had a landscaping business several years ago but lost that also. Some people are not cut out to own businesses and some businesses were never ment to be.

The Dover Bowl has to have the most expenive liquor in Dover. The bartenders measure the booze in a little measureing beaker and then charge you 10 to 11 dollars for a drink that you can hardly taste the liquor in, and that doesnt include the tip. Once in a while we go in on blacklight and go out in the parking lot during breaks and mix our own. Saves on getting ripped off.

Sorry FORMER DOVER FAITFUL I can tell your an honorable type but after bowling in the league for 3 years I might have to slightly favor Calee. Cynthia may have been fighting an unwinable fight but I blame most of the problems on her husband Scott. {Deleted for inappropreiate content}, Mark should have kept her but told her to leave the husband and family plan back at the apartment.

Regarding the post by Former Patron: This place will never appear on foreclosure sales because it is owned by Anagnost Investments. They own so much property and businesses in New Hampshire that it should be illegal. I agree that this place is a {deleted}, but it will never go up for foreclosure. The only way it will ever close is if Anagnost Investments pulls the plug on it.

Yes its true, the Dover Bowl has suffered a large decline in the last year. Most of the staff was let go only to be replaced by prior owner Mark and his clueless wife. The two of them together cant weigh more than 150 pounds. You can tell neither one wants to be there. Why dont they leave and find real jobs?

Comment Date: 7/12/2009 Name: FORMER DOVER FAITHFUL
Calee, I don’t recall Cinthia being anything but a good manager and the one person in that center that cared and faught for us regular league bowlers. BUT your insight is really hateful towards her and her family and very unwarented. SURE the kid thing was an issue but the women was working 60+ hours per week so her home life must have suffered and all this for a maggot, IE {name deleted}. SO I’m sorry you may have had a bum experience but for most of us, she was the one thing that kept us there. I am now bowling at the center in Raymond this summer and they have a GREAT manager and an owner thats there every day makes for a really good atmosphere. We are looking forward to the new fall season here at Strikers, maybe you too should get your head out of {deleted} smoke filled but and join the rest of us.

The only productive thing the Dover Bowl has done in the last years was get rid of their power tripping little manager and her fat,wanna-be a cop husband. Together they spent most of their time conducting investigations, incorperating drama, and calling the Dover pd for the most rediculas and petty things. In the process they offended and discouraged customers. They would bring their young children in and let them run free with no supervision and at times these 3 and 4 year old children would be playing behind the bar or in the kitchen or playing in the lobby where strangers were walking in and out. (The husband)would come in on his free time(because he has no life) and bring in bags of food or pizzias and stuff his face. They would also invite their friends, relatives, and step relatives in for free food, drinks or bowling. Getting rid of this pair of disfunctional leeches was an asset to the Dover Bowl.

thankfully the dover bowl is located off central ave because this neglected building is an eyesore. the inside is as gross as the outside. the place is dirty, unkept, overpriced, and the far end smells like fecal matter every time somebody defacates in the bathroom by lanes 8 and 9. if the owner(or i should say former owner) mark spent as much time maintaining this property as he does chain smokeing camels the place could improve. i expect to see this property show up on bank foreclosures soon.

Slowly and I mean slowly the place is coming together, I saw some contractors in the place monday and hope to see more improvements this year. The prices seem to be the same where I go out when not bowling, but maybe I am just not looking close enough. I know this league bowlers get free shoes now and we never got that before, thats saves me $3 per week, food is better!!!

Comment Date: 1/14/2009 Name: Unhappy with Dover
I agree that this place let its good people go. Do you see what us league bowlers are stuck with now? They had an AMF mechanic there who seemed to be the only one who knew what he was doing and he was gone after a couple of weeks. What is up with this place?

Comment Date: 1/12/2009 Name: Just another unhappy bowler
In the past 2 years they have let all the good staff go, brought in the (former?)owmner and his less then pleasant wife, raised prices to the maximum and taken the fun out of bowling. I guess they know what they are doing

You can never make everyone happy no matter what. Dover Bowl staff is getting much better keep it up.

Comment Date: 12/10/2008 Name: A now former leaguebowler
There was a time not too long ago that you would walk into this place and feel welcomed. Yes there were issues with the lanes and the oil machine, but the staff generally made you feel very comfortable. Now that the owner is back in the mix, you get the feeling that its all about the money and not at all about the people. I think thats just too bad. I am bowling somewhere else now, and though they have problems, its much more user friendly

Dover Bowl is the best there is !!!! (Kris is the best)

Comment Date: 7/1/2008 Name: Dover Faithful
GREAT to see were all going to enjoy consistant lanes. THANK YOU!!! at last. SO, I guess it is true the people from Strikers East must have bought the place.. Glad to hear it too, the lanes needed an owner that cares about the place.. CONGRATS and good luck, you have a good manager and a faithful crew of bowlers to utilize here… Hey what ever happenned to BONKERS?

Comment Date: 6/14/2008 Name: MANAGER-CYNTHIA
First off I want to thank all of you bowlers who have stuck with us. I know things have taking forever to get where they are, but hey we are getting there. Those who don’t know “Bob” is here. “Bob” is our new oil machine. We’ve been improving the arcade, and still improving. Also we are not closing at the end of July. All lane projects happen at night. I agree the grill is finally there. A wide selection of food. Which is great when I eat here 7 nights a week. Those who love our dollar night… I have another great special… one hour of bowling (up to 6 people), shoe rentals, large cheese pizza, and a pitcher of soda for $25.00. The special is Tuesday-Sunday 5pm to 8pm. Also those the card room is not illegal. Come check it all out. You’ll be amazed!!!

Comment Date: 6/10/2008 Name: Dover Faithful
Just got the word, NO BONKERS!!! also heard we were shutting down the end of July… hope its not for good… staff says they need to cut or resurface the lanes… I really think its bad too there’s no lane maching and aren’t the lanes synthetic or somthing. Maybe the owners should come to the lanes to explain it, then at least I can make plans for my fall league.

Comment Date: 6/9/2008 Name: No So -Regular Bowler
I was at the center the other day and I am totally amazed at the amount of work the center has completed to improve this facility. They have added “Bonkers” with great games and party area. A poker “charity room”, controlled by the state. Menu has become focused to the bowlers. Courtesy employee’s willling to help. All employees have new shirts so you can tell who are the employee’s, look for the lime green shirts. Great job to the staff and owners….Everyone deserves a high five!!!!!!!

Comment Date: 4/15/2008 Name: annonymouse
hard to beleive this center gets 3 comments in 2 years and all of a sudden every-one loves or hates the place!!! Well, I think the owner needs to step up and tell us regulars what the hecks going on!!! Even the manager is completely oblivious to the changes, its bananas. All the questions need to be answered, the place is a dump too, all the money they ever spend is on bars that fail, poker rooms that are illegal, and snck-bars that are never available its all in the back area not over the foul line where it’s needed, like the lanes and lane machine that need help. HEY owner step it up let us know where we stand… PLEASE

Dover bowl has changed in the past few years….but i think ben is right… it is heading in the right direction… the only problem i have is they should keep employees that care about the business..and get rid of the ones that don’t…and whats up w/ the food its changing to much

Comment Date: 3/28/2008 Name: ANOTHER LEAGUE BOWLER
Dover Bowl is not owned by Strikers East Raymond. They have no grafitti on the walls. The place is going in the right directon. Soon there will be an arcade on one side of the bowling center that will entertain the whole family. I’ve bowled there for now six years and love it. The staff is great and they really care about the place. They are always making it better. Good to them.

I must say it seems to be heading in the right direction now.Everyone has a bad experience once in a while but i think if you go back you will not be dissapointed

My family and I just visited the Dover Bowling place. First off the entry way is littered with smokers and discarded cigerette butts. Next was the snack-bar or lack there-of. The clerk at the desk said it would be open on an hour or so, we left some 3 hrs later it was still unnoccupied. NO FOOD!!! My husband and my daughter visited the restrooms and they were trashed, from broken toilet seats to filthy floors and grafitti on all the walls, looked like they never get cleaned. I mentioned my concerns to the clerk when we completed our bowling, she didn’t seem to be at all concerned or suprised. One more problem we had was we had to do the little balls because there was a youth event on the tenpin lanes, I called ahead and was told there would be lanes available all day and night. The tally for us was $87.00 for our family of 4 to play 4 games with the rental shoes. My family and I will not be revisiting this place, it was very dirty, no food services, and pricey I will admit the small balls are different and fun but it can’t outway the issues and costs.

Is it true that Dover Bowl is now owned and operated by Strikers East out of Raymond…. I have heard this, and would like to know.

Comment Date: 3/14/2005 Name: Jonathon Granowski
I, too, have had to wait in line, but when we do get a lane, we have a lot of fun. I guess if you have to wait, they are doing something right. There are a lot of bowling alleys I have gone to that didn’t have any one there. I don’t have as much fun at those place as I do when the lanes are busy.

Comment Date: 2/20/2005 Name: jared arkwell
You guys should add more lanes, every time I go there is a waiting list. if I had more money I would open a bowling center up and put you out of business.

Quite possibly the most enjoyable “family day” we have had. The staff was made us feel welcome from the moment we stepped through the doors. The kids didn’t want to leave.
