Hazel park bowl used to be a good place now its nothing more than a brothel. I have seen krissy all over black guy ehile she is suppose to be working and taking care of us as customers but i have also seen the other 2 waitresses do the same. Krissy is fake. The fat manger matt is no good and stinks very bad hygiene. I am done with hazel park bowl and would not recommend it to no one i know.

I no what you mean on the bartender krissy. I dont think she is married tho. But i can say that she likes the brothers seen her with with the maintenance guy from there all over each other. I love to see one of us getting another white woman. Makes hzpb the place to be

The bartender chrissy is real fine says she is married but give her enough attention and tips she will be putty in your hand. Gotta love her. She is why i go there. Lonely desprite housewife who isn’t getting satisfied at home

HPB is a real joke…they cant keep their employees that work good and do a good job. WHen they fail they hire all the rejects that hang around the place constantly. There moral there is a joke and so are the owners. thats why they have les and less hours they are open..keep on catering to free bowlers and all the rif raf they bring in. HPB you are turning into a real dive!!!

this is one of the best bowling centers ever. i have bowled at many centers and this one has great tournaments and a great staff. not to mention they have free bowling on thursday nights. they are always real good to us on wed and even have put up with a few throw downs when a few of our bowlers got out of hand. so no they are not racist

Comment Date: 1/13/2011 Name: Anonymous
I cannot believe ANYONE would even suggest much less say that the hazel park bowl is racist! If anyone has ever been there on a wendsday night you would see a african american league that is QUITE happy and comes back every week! If they were not treated right trust me they would be the first to cause a commotion about it! so whoever wrote that is either a disgruntaled employee or someone wh gets off on trying to stir racial tensions! GET A LIFE!

I returned last night (8/25) for the league I have bowled in for numerous yrs at Hazel park Bowl only to find they have made changes again. The girl who worked the counter and ran our league is no longer there and she was awesome….knew her job inside and out. She knew all of our needs. She will be missed. New bartender doesnt compare to Dolly. And the grill well who knows where the good cooks went. Hazelpark Bowl you are not what you use to be.

Hazel park Bowl really leaves alot to be desired. They have employees who do well and totally rock and other employees s*ck. The lady owner is a joke with her fake smiles and fakeness. She treats people very differently depending on who you are. Since they fired Rocco the place aint the same tho the girl at the counter is awesome(Candy) as we have dealt with her on numerous times along with the young dude she works with(Will). they rock when they work together. Rocco was the bomb tho and this new manger they got dont know wher theyfound him. He dresses like a slob with ripper jeans and dirty tshirt hanging out of his other shirt and every time you seem him he is a sweating mess…maybe from his numerous trips to stand outside and smoke. I was there and witness him quite rude to a female bowler recently on a Wednesday…she is black and I dont know but i sense racism from him…he always seems to harass her weekly for something. He is not manager material for hazel prk bowl. When you try to speak with him you always get a shoulder shrug to everything you say. HAZEL PARK BOWL TREAT YOUR PEOPLE BETTER AND YOU MAY GET BETTER OUTCOME.

It’s not a bad place at all. It’s really much better if you go there to bowl a lot and know most of the people. Yes they have been a lot harsher about the pricing but its still a cool place especially with Kurt there!

I bowled in the Hamtramck Singles Classic tournament on June 7 and 8. Both days our squad started over an hour late for no good reason. (Squads were supposed to start at 3 but didn’t start until after 4.) The air was so full of smoke that I could hardly breathe. I was supposed to come back with another organizer in July but I won’t. I don’t care to make a 600-mile round-trip at more than $3 a gallon to put up with inexcusable tardiness and unbreathable air. In fact, I will NEVER return to Michigan until they have an anti-smoking law.
They would never think about serving their customers poisoned food. They would never think about serving their customers poisoned drinks. Why do they insist on serving their customers poisoned air?

I was saddened to read the comments about racism in HP Bowl as well as HP, affectionately known as Hazeltuckey. I joined a league late last year in the season. Yes, the league is ALL black, but the center is all PEOPLE. I’ve been bowling for over 20 years and have bowled in some real {deleted}. Not only is HP Bowl well maintained, it’s clean, and the staff is so friendly. There’s a gal at the counter, who one day, I’m gonna make smile, who goes out of her way to accommodate everyone and gives the best customer service in any bowling alley I’ve ever been to. One day, a lane attendant saw me having to keep getting up to get water, and he brought me a pitcher full, WITHOUT ME ASKING! I’m not even a drinker and the bar staff treats me like a top shelf tipper! Here’s something else..on our first evening of the new league, my niece and I stopped by that hamburger joint down the street…the one with the donkey on it. It was funny because there were about a dozen very interesting looking non-african-americans in there. Being the adventurists that we are (yes, we are two BOLD black women) we went in anyway, and decided to eat in. Those were the friendliest folks we’d met in a long time, and the wait staff kept pouring us lemonade to make us stay. We were there till about 2am, on a work night, and was asked to come again on our next bowling night (which we did). Long story short, I’m a middle aged Detroiter, and I’ve seen true racism. You don’t need to go north of 8 mile to find it. Try Joy Road and Telegraph (Which IS Detroit). We need to not be so quick to judge and deal with what the Lord deals us.

I have been bowling at hazel park bowl since 1996. i have made many friends there and consider some of them family. The owners are excellent people and are in no way racist to anyone who goes there. I have been bowling on many leagues there and have never experienced any racism or seen any by anyone. If somebody feels this way they are totally off and couldn’t be more wrong. The owners are wonderful people and excellent bowlers. I will continue to visit and recommend there bowling center for years to come.

If you bowl in there tournament show up late. If you show up early you will have to wait in a mile long check in line. If you show up late they will send you right to your lane and then send some one out to give you personel check in service. This will be half way thru the 1st game so you will know how you started and if you want jack pots. If you show up on time you have to decide if you want jack pots before you know how you started. The later you show up the more you get red carpet service.

The comment by “conserned bowler” about racism is inaccurate.
I have been employed by Hazel Park Bowl in a “moonlighting” capacity since 1997. Although the extra income that I earn from this second job is nice to have, it is by no means essential to me. I would not continue my employment at Hazel Park Bowl if the owners or managers were racist.
Hazel Park Bowl is located in a diverse community and attracts a diverse clientele. Although the city of Hazel Park is a predominantly white community, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Arabic and gay/lesbian centers of population all exist within a five-mile radius of the bowling center. Representatives of all of these diverse groups patronize Hazel Park Bowl for leagues, tournaments, open play and karaoke; these groups co-exist and interact harmoniously.
The principal owner of the center is white; he competes on league teams within the center with Black and Asian teammates. The co-owner/manager is white; she sometimes substitues in an otherwise all-Black league. When the TNBA National Tournament was held at a nearby center several years ago, a special effort was made to recruit visiting TNBA members to compete in Hazel Park Bowl’s own tournament as well. The center’s youth instructional program is led by a Black employee.
The local population is so diverse that any local merchant would be ill-advised to manage his or her business in a racist mannerthere would simply be too much potential to lose customers if discrimination was practiced. Hazel Park Bowl’s customer base is a cross-section of the local population, more so than any other nearby bowling center, and I am proud to be associated with such an organization.

This establishment is ran by a group of racists. I’ve witnessed, and expierienced it first hand. This is not to slander, it’s just the truth.
