We are so disappointed to hear your pro shop operator Ron is leaving. He was always there with a friendly face and kind word. It will be tough to replace his good nature and years of bowling knowledge.

Why is 20th Century the only bowling alley that allows smoking in its bar? You open that bar door that goes into the alley and its like a slap in the face of smoke. I thought this was against the law. Please go smokeless like all the other alleys in the valley.

We recently had a birthday party at Westys and were asked to stop taking flash photos because they were having a tournament. I found out the lady who complained was from 21st Century Lanes. If I can’t have fun taking pictures at a party why do bowling alleys allow birthday parties? This lady is too full of herself and she should mind her own business.

So “Only Smart One” you’re saying that if I want to bowl in my street shoes or bare feet that would be okay with the bowling center? “Bowling Shoes” go hand in hand with bowling, unless of course you are the local bowling guru.

For those of you who think the “free” bowling for kids is a bait and switch, you are morons! It is free bowling. Shoes are not bowling. If you have ever been to a bowling alley you would know that bowling and shoes are 2 different things! Thinking its a bait and switch is moronic and further proves my point that people are morons! It is free bowling it doesn’t say free shoes morons! Man Ames is going down the tubes in the intelligence department!

Comment Date: 3/26/2010 Name: Questionable Consumer
I saw on facebook you have “FREE” bowling during the summer for kids. How can it be “FREE” when in small print you charge for shoes and tax. That sounds like bait and switch.

How much does it cost?

Well, we had a birthday party at your bowling alley and had a great time. It was an adult party and we absolutely loved and enjoyed your bartender, Vicki. She is a hoot and her personality is shining. She gave excellent service and joked and laughed with us. We will definitely be back.

I agree with Tony the exterior of the building looks fantastic but then you go inside and it’s the same old place. How about the inside?

Comment Date: 7/14/2009 Name: Toni
Love the new look. Hate the parking lot! We go there on the week-ends and love Angie. She is super. Vicky is real nice and knows alot about drinks. The bar is really clean. They make it fun to be there.

My kids recently went to your center to take advantage of your “FREE” bowling. Your person behind the counter said the kids needed money for shoes, they didn’t have any extra only enough for sodas. How can you call it free bowling when it isn’t? One of my husband’s friends said it sounded like bait and switch to him. I guess your idea of free and my idea of free are two different things.

Love your Cosmic bowling. The bartender on Friday night is a hoot. She is always a blast to see. We go there a lot and we always have a great time. You can tell she has been bartending a long time. Good food too.

Comment Date: 9/13/2008 Name: Just another act of customer service..NOT
Bill S.~ Please do not be surprised (your team mates were not) by the lack of customer service that you received from 20th Century Lanes. This place is the pennicale of not providing customer service. They do not understand the importance of its meaning nor do they know how to provide it. It is just amazing how a buisness can keep their doors open for any length of time when they just do not grasp the importance of what the customer wants…oh wait…it is a family owned buiseness; therefore they do not have to provide any form of it. Maybe a letter to the BBB would shed some light on the whole situation? Just a thought.

This website has been created so that visitors can rate your center. This site also encourages the centers to reply to the guests reviews and by reading your reply to your customers it’s a no-brainer. It appears that 20th Century Lanes has the WORST ratings “hands down” in the ENTIRE stae of Idaho. 20th Century Lanes management should be ashamed and the owner should take steps in correcting the issues outlined by its visitors before the center closes down due to lack of customers. Centers through out the state are lacking in League bowler particapation and increasing in general open play linage but after reviewing this site (like many others have before me) I would spend my money elsewhere. You can operate how you want to when you are the only gig in town but you are not the only gig in town. The average consumer would rather spend a little extra for a burger and beer if they knew they were getting an employee that would make the effort to go that extra mile and provide customer service. It appears through this website; that the problems are centered around the management level and it has caused a trickle down effect that has festered at the customer level. The customers, rather a league bowler or an open play bowler, will be directed towards the center that provides the best customer service. According to the reviews out of this center, that center would not be 20th Century Lanes by no stretch of the imagination. STOP FOOLING YOURSELVES!!!

Comment Date: 9/13/2008 Name: The only good thing
The only good thing at this center is how well it is cleaned. This center has to be one of the cleanest ones around. The inside appears to be cleaned daily but like the old saying goes “your center is judged on how clean it is from the curb to the restrooms” and I would have to say you people have half of it down. The restrooms are clean but the curb appeal lacks in a big way. Here’s an novel idea, try having your staff pick it up rather than passing it up?

Comment Date: 9/11/2008 Name: Bill S
A few weeks ago I purchased a ball from your “Pro Shop”. We discussed how I wanted the ball to react and agreed on one of the layouts from the manufacturer. When I came back to pick up the ball the layout we discussed was not followed. When I showed this to my teammates they were not surprised that your ball driller did it the way “he” wanted. It sounds like this is a recurring situation. Thank you for letting me vent my problem, your driller is very intimidating.

I would like to thank the man called Ron in the Pro Shop for taking the time to work with me on buying a new bowling ball. Being a new bowler I was unsure what to get. Much better service here than over at Westys Pro Am sports. I will spend my money and time at 20th Century Lanes

To all of those that have commented on our center we greatly appreciate your feed back and to those with negative comments we would like you to know that we are addressing the problems you have brought to our attention and hope that you will come in and give us and with our staff another chance to improve what you think of us and give you a positive experience and we apploogize for the bad experiences you have encountered here.

We totally enjoy going to the bowling alley on Friday nights. The bartender is so nice. She makes our night fun. This is what real customer service is. Scott is so nice and really helpful. The person in the snack area is kinda rude and snotty. Lokks like she eats way too many burgers.

Comment Date: 8/29/2008 Name: Kids Bowl Free not wanted
Tonight 08/29 my family and I went to utilize one of our Kids Bowl Free coupons and the older guy at the desk told us that there were no open lanes avaliable. Funny that he should have mentioned that because all 24 lanes were not even turned on and there was no one in the building except a few employees. The rude guy did not even explain to me why my family and I could not use our coupons but he was quick to yell at one of my boys for bringing in his skateboard. I am aware that there are only a few more days left on the coupons but a short explanation why we could not bowl would not have been too much to ask for?

The oldest house in Boise has attempted to dish out money for a new look and the remodling looks good but they should of spent a little extra and ordered the “attitude adjustment kit” for their morning crew and their Tues, Wens, and Thursday night crew. Guess what people Boise does not owe you anything so unperch from your high horses and get with the times. Customer service goes a long ways in todays world.
Place looks good and it is nice that 20th Century Lanes is willing to spend the extra money for nice things like new parking lot, new seats, new lanes and new ball returns but they should have spent that extra money for new employees or the attitude ajustment kit! Just a thought.

Here is a copy of what your hours say on this website: M 9am – 2am, T-Th, Su 9am-12am, F-Sat 9am-12am and here is a copy of what sign in the pro shop reads (when its turned on, which is NEVER) Sun 9am-1am, Mon 9am-2am, Tues thru Sat. 9am-1am. Which is it and by turning off your light in the pro shop you are not tricking anyone!

Is this a bowling center or a storage unit?

Comment Date: 8/27/2008 Name: Money NOT well spent
Are you kidding me? A center that in years past was a great place to take the kids has now turned into a center for foul mouth kids and staff members that could careless if you lived or died. I will take my money elsewhere. Thanks but NO THANKS!!!!

Comment Date: 8/27/2008 Name: New look w/o new attitude
Parking Lot looks nice!
Lanes are some of the best around!
Ball returns are up to date!
But if you are trying to mask your ability or in this case THE LACK OF to provide customer service with a new look. YOU HAVE FAILED!!! I can only suggest that you sell the center and have someone with buisness sense to come in and take over. This way Boise would have a center with a new look, great lanes and a whole staff that cares about the people whom are paying their wages. Boise would have been better off if Mona sold 20th Century Bowling Lanes to a NON FAMILY member; this would have ensured a better enviroment for families, open play and the league bowler would get the service they desirve. Believe it or not current 20th century management staff members; Mona had a good thing going before she allowed you all to run it!!!! Now the place just fits in with the area it is located in and that would be a sorry part of town!! Why isn’t there a customer comment box in your center? Well now that there is we the people know now that our comments are being read. This site is better than having a comment box located in your grasp because now we the people will get to review ALL the comments directed to your center. I will tell everyone that I meet to go to this site to review the comments about your staff and enter their own comments about their experiance. Hopefully we can get the word out to those that are looking for a place to take their family to go to some other place. If you could hire more staff memebers that are NOT family members then there just might be a chance this place would make it but with some of your current staff members you could replace everything and the center would still be the worst place to visit!

WOW!!!! What a great program for the kids and family alike. I am glad that this place offers such a great program. Thanks

Comment Date: 8/15/2008 Name: will not bowl there on Tuesday and Wensday
WHY can’t this place has plesant staff memebers every night of the week? I was in there with my family on Tuesday night and the girl behind the desk was…well for a lack of better words R.U.D.E. She appears to think that the WORLD owes her something and all my family wanted was a fun night out. My wife and I returned the next night to see if it was a joke and NOPE she was rude again as a matter of fact we had to hunt her down and ask her when she was done bowling if she could help us out with a scoring issue!!! I refuse to bowl there on Tuesday’s and Wensday’s again~!~ We will however return on other nights of the week because they display a better work ethic and customer service.

Comment Date: 8/15/2008 Name: UNHAPPY CUSTOMER
WOW if I wanted crappy customer service I would of gone to Emerald Lanes. Your Tuesday and Wensday night staff are rude and have no consideration for how the guest (paying customers) feel nor if they (paying customers) are looking for a good time. WHEN DO YOU CLOSE on these nights? One week it is 11pm and the others it is ??????? Make up your minds or post a more accureate hours of opperations sign because in case you didn’t know your sign says 1pm for most of the week!!!

They’ve really fixed this place up over the last few years. It has a much brighter, neater appearance, the lanes are well-maintained, the scorekeepers don’t break down like they did in the 90’s, and the staff is friendly and courteous. Plus the food is quite good. A great place to bowl.

I’ve visited several bowling centers and feel 20th has great employees who are willing to go that extra mile to help. They have made my bowling experience a blast. The facility is bright and clean. The burgers are fantastic.

The approaches are always dirty! The shot is good for open play but they let open bowlers bowl on random pairs before leagues so some teams have a big advantage over others.

The management people are nice and friendly but the lanes are dirty!
