Over the last 15 years, I have bowled at this establishement extensively spanning from the junior program to my adulthood and I must say that Brandon Crossroads Bowl is by far one of the premier family entertainment centers in the state, if not in the country. As an open play patron, it can tough sometimes to get in and bowl but overall, the staff and management do a good job of accomodating their customers (we must remember that there are only 40 lanes in the building and at many times, there is limited availability at best(signage is posted) As a league patron, Ive rarely had any issues with the staff or the management there and for the most part, will do what they can to make it easier for their league patrons. The scoring pace is high like most bowlers like and the facilities are ALWAYS clean. and to the Jeff haters…I know that He can have shortcomings, but He really is a good man and has good intentions, he just sometimes puts his foot in his mouth, but we are all human, and the benefit of the doubt is deserved. Remember Bowling Centers are a business as well and prices can be just elastic as anything else in life. Overall, Id say this place is a long standing institution in the Brandon, Plant City, and Riverview communities and it has put smiles on the faces of many people.

i was sad to here that one of my favorite employees was let go recently went to have a cold beverage and bowl a few games and they said she was let go i have been going to bcb for years and this was a great let down no matter how hard the owners rode her about work she was courtious to every customer that came through the door made coming there fun sure there are others there that are fun but charlette made you feel like family and seemed genuine every time she said come back now , after all these years she certainly will be missed and i only hope the owners know that she was really a good employee no matter. we all will miss her. if you see this i wish you luck in all your indevers and hope to find whre you moved to so i may try to get by to see you.

I love BCB. Linda and her daughter Jen are the best servers I’ve ever encountered and the whole place has a family like vibe. I left The Alley to go to BCB. The layout is better and o is the service. I know it’s the same owners but it can’t be duplicated. It is like Cheers with bowling 🙂

How much are the bowling balls?

I would like to thank the management, staff and league bowlers at BCB. Each year for several years now, BCB hosts the annual Special Olympics Bowling Competition for Hillsborough County. The staff is very supportive of our athletes. And the league bowlers raise money each year to provide lunches to over 300 athletes and 100 volunteers for this event while BCB management donates their time and all of their lanes for our event. Special Olympics never charges athletes to train or compete in any sport. Money for equipment, uniforms, travel and meals are all made possible thorough individual donations and community partnerships. BCB and their league bowlers support our program year after year. Their support saves our program thousands of dollars each year. So thank you to BCB and their league bowlers for supporting Special Olympics athletes and their local Hillsborough County program.

I bowl at BCB on a league, and in the summer I do the camps. Everyone there is extremely friendly, even the front desk, you guys. You have to treat them nice too. They get a lot of business; their really busy. I’ve bowled at some other alleys, and I’ve never seen the lanes cleaner than BCB’s. They are not slippery; just clean. I love the way my foot slides on the approach as I start my release. It makes for a smooth and easy frame. As far as being annoyed with open bowlers; your going to find that anywhere. When you bowl, you should stay concentrated and not worry about others next to you. You also have to remember that there is a limited amount of space and open bowlers do not know lane courtesy.

How much is it?

I have been a customer of BCB for years. I have been on leagues and I am sad to see so many leaguers complaining about non-league bowlers. The facility is a public arena and some of us donot have a schedule that can allow a league. I loved league bowling but my career does not mesh with the league hours. So, now i am a recreational bowler. I miss having the low cost perks of being on a league but the higher price does not deter me from going. Quit being so hateful. If rec bowlers were not there to fill in the financial/retail gap, your league perks would be less. The staff there are a mix bag. The customer service desk is now well staffed and some have really bad attitudes. An older gentleman yelled at me for bringing in cookies for a league member’s birthday. He ordered me to throw them out. Well I went into the bar (my own “Cheer’s”) and brought the problem to Darleen and the girls and they straightened the matter out. The bar staff are phenominal. The first time I had a drink there, I had just turned 21. I didnot return for about a month and when I came up to the bar, the attendant remembered what I had ordered. WOW, you do not get that often. They have a large drink menue and make some items found nowhere else. I give them props for putting a lot of effort into the whole facility. THey just need to get rid of the stuffy and rude customer service desk,.

One very unpleasant female staff member. First impressions are terrible. I would rather drive to the other side of town than give rude people my business! Im all about customer service as having worked in it for years, unfortunatley one staff member clearly is not!! This seems to be a consistant observation looking at the other commetns. one person can bring a whole business down!

To those who said BCB doesn’t care about league bowlers, I don’t have any clue where you are coming from. In fact, they are much more dedicated to their league bowlers than any alley I’ve ever been to. The facilities are also quite nice. I agree with some of the comments about the front desk staff being somewhat rude, although not in comparison to the other alleys in the area. Friendly customer service seems to be a lost art across the whole industry, not just BCB. The comments about high prices are also accurate for non-league bowlers, but you get what you pay for. I think they are a good middleground between the cheap (but dingy, dirty, malfunctioning) Oakfield Lanes and the really high priced Splittsville.

I am an employee at BCB and I just want to clear a few things up for some people. For the person that complained that they came in five times and got a lane once (I think they even put an exclamation point after that), if you call ahead, you can find out if there are any lanes available. Since we took on the leagues from Thunderbird Lanes, we have leagues every day of the week from about 5:30-9:15. As for the league bowler who complained about being put next to open bowlers during their pre-bowling, it says on a sign at the front that that may happen. So, you have no room to complain. Believe me, we have to pur up with just as much crap from league bowlers as we do open bowlers. I could not find a greater bunch of people to work with. If any of the bowlers has a problem, the supervisors are more than willing to help. And I think people are thinking the lanesd are slippery because they are so clean. You are supposed to slide when you throw your ball from the approach. Most bowling alleys do not keep their approaches this clean, so ours may be seen as too slippery when, inm fact, they are just cleaner than other alleys. The Boje family is fantastic and they really do care about their employees. I also can’t wait for the new center to open. It is going to be HUGE!

I sub with my daughter occasionally on Wednesday nights, driving from Sarasota. Thoroughly enjoy BCB as it is a great house and the food is super especially the chip fries. Would drive every monday night if I could bowl on her team regularly. Keep up the great work. Staff is fantastic.

You people can whine and complain about BCB’s owners, prices, open bowling, etc., but unless you have visited quite a few of the other houses in Florida, I suggest you don’t know what you are talking about. My family goes on vacation in south Florida and we take our bowling balls in case of rain. It rained all week one year and we visited every bowling alley in the Pompano, Margate, Boca Raton, Ft. Lauderdale, and maybe some more areas. What a shock! They charge over $4.00 a game or they charge $20 an hour to rent a lane. Most of the places are old, dark, dank and ugly. Only the Don Carter Lanes are in good shape and they are expensive. We have also bowled in Jacksonville and somewhere out in the middle of the state. None surpass BCB on all counts, not even Don Carter Lanes. The Boje family is always caring, curteous and professional. We have bowled there since BCB first opened and still bowl there. I have never seen employees belittled or mistreated in front of others. Several of the employees were friends of mine and were glad to be given the chance to work there while going to college. In response to the open bowlers being given preference over league bowlers, I sometimes feel that way, too, because I feel I have been there so long that I should come first. But this is a business and times change. The owners have to do what it takes to make the money to keep the place updated and pay their employees well. . . and they do pay their employees well. It is hard to put up with open bowlers who do not know how to bowl, much less bowling etiquette. The desk does try to place people accordingly, but it isn’t always possibleand there’s no guarantee you will have a lane all to yourself. I think the desk job would be the most difficult of all, especially dealing with you whiners. If you don’t like BCB, go elsewhere! BCB is the BEST IN FLORIDA! Looking forward to the new center at Big Bend.

I am a previous employee and league bowler of BCB. I grew up in Brandon, my parents and I both bowled there from the time they opened. I also had my first job. The management staff there are fantastic. They are reasonable and fair. If you have a problem they are always willing to work with you and care what goes on. Jeff Boje has done his father proud. Great bowling lanes, great staff, great fun.

rude owner… I have known him and others for years….. only cares about $$$$…. staff is worked like slaves…. and no longer cares about league bowlers…. I have even heard never to ask how hard they work the bowling mechanics…

I love going to BCB if i call ahead i can always reserve an open lane, i love the staff there and it is a very clean and family friendly environment. and the snack bar rocks!!

Great facility. Clean, great lanes, wonderful technology, decent price…but good luck finding times for open bowling. In the span of two months, we visited five times and were only able to get an open lane once! Open lanes are sarce due to leagues and party rentals. Desk personnel are rude.

I would like to start off by saying that BCB is a very nice bowling center. And yes,The approach on each lane is slippery.League bowlers like myself can correct the problem by going to the pro shop and asking how to fix it.And as far as league bowlers pre-bowling goes,You have to deal with the fact that open bowlers do not know about lane courtesy. And I agree with Dave on his comment back on 6/21/07 about BCB not having a frequent bowler program.I think BCB should try this. And as far as the staff goes,They are friendly. The snack bar food is good.I`m also looking forward to the new center. The main thing is that bowling is fun.If bowling is not fun anymore then I think it mite be a good idea to get into a new sport.

This place is one of the nicest bowling centers I’ve ever visited. It’s a lot more family friendly than most, and they take care excellent care of the customers and facilities. GREAT JOB, BCB!

Approach on the lanes are very slippery, workers behind the counter aren’t very friendly. Example, when my team had to pre-bowl a worker behind the counter put some open bowlers right next to us. I give them a C+

Comment Date: 6/21/2007 Name: Dave
Kitchen and Bar staff: very friendly! Front Desk staff: Distant, unfriendly and one lady is flat out RUDE. The center itself is quite nice, the lanes well kept, and the leagues are diverse. However…. I would LOVE to see BCB promote a frequent bowler program like some centers in the area (i.e., Pinchasers). The fact is, I live less than 5 minutes from BCB but it is FAR, FAR cheaper for me to drive to Pinchasers on Armenia (35 minute drive) just to practice because of their frequent bowler program. Come on BCB, lets hear it for your loyal, repeat bowlers!

Comment Date: 3/5/2007 Name: BCB Customer
The employees behind the bar and in the kitchen are always extemely friendly. They go out of their way to be kind and ALWAYS check ID’s when selling alchohol. I noticed the the employees behind the bowling counter are less attentive. They are indeed fairly rude at times, depending on how busy they are. I did get a bit of an attitude from one guy (who was by himself taking his time when there was a long line) I dont agree with the weekend prices. The alley itself is one of the best in the area. (overall experience vs. cost)

I think you bowl too much. If this is all you have to do, complain about people who bowl recreationally then you are weird.

Comment Date: 1/18/2007 Name: Long time league bowler at BCB
I have known the owners of Brandon Crossroads for a long time. In fact I have bowled there since the place opened. I totally disagree with the comment about them not caring about league bowlers. The center has the largest league base in all of Tampa and that is for a very good reason. They do care. BCB is one of the last centers that still has leagues on Saturday nights. That does not sound like they value open play more than league bowling. I also have never heard an employee complain about the owner. At times they complain about each other but that is about it. It is a free country. I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Comment Date: 9/4/2006 Name: To Unhappy League Bowler…
I understand what you’re saying about ruining league bowling. I bowl at a league heavey bowling center, have been bowling there for years, and follow bowling trends closely. Unfortunately a big chunk of bowling centers now make more money off open bowling because they can charge more per game, open bowlers rent shoes, and spend more in the snack bar and bar. For the dedicated league bowlers like you and I it’s a smack in the face. However I don’t think all the blame should be placed on bowling managers, but should be shared with USBC. They keep raising rates with no incentive for the average league bowler. Why should someone sanction if they may never win an award? If the demand was there for more league bowling maybe it would be different, but for now we have to accept the change until something is done. Very frustrating!

Comment Date: 8/31/2006 Name: league bowler
greedy owner is ruining league bowling. seems to think that the future of bowling is with open recreational bowling and caters to that clientel at the expenses of dedicated league bowlers who basically keep bowling centers alive.
allows anybody into the cosmic open bowling times, gets so crazy and out of hand, I can’t even take my kids to enjoy it.
treats the employees like slaves and is condecending towards them, talking down to and belittling them.
would otherwise be a great house, with a nice location, if it weren’t for the current owner.
