It is a good bowling alley. Especially with cosmic bowling 🙂 I get lap dances from girls and there is a lot of making out there. I had sex there once and it was A THRILL

I don’t know where to start. I was researching area bowling alleys in hopes of organizing an outing for our homeschool group, however, this does not seem to be the place for us. After reading all of the comments, it’s clear this place and its employees (and disgruntled former employees) are all about drama. No thanks. I’m glad sites like this exist or I would have never known!

First I’d like to give Vic in the pro shop props. This guy can drill a bowling ball with the best of them. His hours are short as he works during the day. There is too much going on in this place, and it doesn’t seam anyone really cares about this place anymore. It’s filthy and most of the employees are just there to collect a check. The owner is really trying to make this place go, he just needs to staff the place with people who give a sh*t. Everyone here are nice people, maybe a little frustrated that participation is down. If your interested in joining a league, however the people who bowl here are really nice for the most part. If you can get through the negative stuff it’s a fun place to bowl league or otherwise.

Would Like to say a few words about a fellow bowler and good friend, Gary Yoho. Gary passed away on July 27th 2011. I have bowled with Gary for over ten years in the Sea Creatures league, and have never met a more fun loving and caring person in my life. Gary never had a bad word to say about anyone, and I know everyone in the league liked and respected him. We will miss him terribly. Our prays go out to Evelyn, Dana, Donna, Robert and Alice, and may his soul rest in peace.

My son Jesse Lent grandson of Dave Mannello…..bowled his 1st 300….as a 14 yrs old,he is the youngest to have ever done so in Ulster County,New York…..he loved bowling w his Grandpa an other employees of Mariners before my Dads passing…..

I have never had any problems here when I have gone bowling with my daughter and grandson. It is close to my home, inexpensive (especially on Sundays aft 6pm), and the food is pretty good.

Comment Date: 6/7/2011 Name: CJ
I’m hoping the free passes this alley gave to my 7 yr old son for the summer will serve us well. I hope this will be a positive experience for us. My family has been there a few times before in the evenings, but not often enough to see any of the negativity I’ve seen posted on this board. Seems like a lot of drama for a bowling alley – which I always viewed as a family place. My little one and I will give it a chance.

hey how much is it to just bowl there???

Your parents would probably be the first to sue the bowliing alley if you got hurt. You were asked to leave 3 times before he threaten to call the police. Stay home and use your skateboads. Three customers complained about you 4 teenagers. This was not the first time we ran you off the property for the same thing.

Comment Date: 9/4/2010 Name: James
Me and a few friends were sitting in the parking lot after a long day of skating and a guy came out and flipped out on us telling us to leave very rudely. He went off on us threatening to “beat us up”. As we told him we were leaving he kept trying to start a fight with us. He was threatening to call the cops, as we were walking away(which were his instructions). What was his problem? A grown man threatening to beat up 4 teenagers who were just trying to relax a bit before we skated all the way back home.

This place I think is great!! It’s the closest bowling alley to me and it’s better than having to truck all the gear to Spring Hill Lanes.

Comment Date: 6/22/2010 Name: Judy
We need 1 more twosome for golf and bowl on Wed. night. If u r interested call Sue at Mariner.
starts at 5pm. Golf 9 holes at Oak Hill then 3 games at Mariner Lanes. It’s fun.

I think this center needs to seriously step into the 20th century & get a real website & email instead of the crap page that leads no where that has been there forever.

Comment Date: 1/28/2010 Name: Pat Brennan
I guess I will get out of the kitchen, and let you all talk trash about others… i just enjoy bowling at both houses and whow ever is in the Pro Shops I will respect them and do what ever I can do to help them out.. You can not please everyone…
as for the owners what a tough job, I am just glad I have a place to bowl, and that is what I love to do.
You are not just a bowler no one is you are a BOWLER!!

Comment Date: 1/28/2010 Name: Nobody else does it…..BUT!
I think we should have to leave our names on here, email address, or something, instead of hiding behind anonymity. People have such horrible things to say, but cant seem to leave their names. Pity. I would leave my name but I have nothing negative to say, degrade, and belittle a person down to like everyone else. Perhaps the BOWLING2U staff, you should close the link to this page so these “internet tough guys” have to go somewhere else and spray their testosterone, where they also dont have to leave a name.

Comment Date: 1/28/2010 Name: just a bowler
we now have people telling us what, and what not to say. no bad remarks allowed. what a wonderfull world this would be if everybody agreed on all issues. it doesn’t work that way, and never will. pat means well, but that’s what this blog is for, to express your opinion, good or bad. take the heat, or get out of the kitchen.

Thank you Pat! A logical person has answered these awful posts!

Comment Date: 1/23/2010 Name: Pat Brennan
first of all I think this site should not allow some of the things everyone is saying. I had thought it was a site to be a positve one.
I am surprise of all the nasty things people say about each other.. It would be great to read this site and find good things to say about each other..
I have been bowling a long time in spring hill and both houses, I had every pro drill me up equipment, that has been in the shops, each one has been different, but if you know how to roll a bowling ball you can use any Pro Shop Managers drilling. I am not saying they are all good for everyone, but I have not had any trouble with any of them. It is your choice to go to who you want, but don’t put people down, you would hate it if we knew who you were, and said nasty things about you.. Enjoy your life have fun and don’t slam the guys who are trying to make it a living.

Comment Date: 1/19/2010 Name: Gerald Clarke
You know what I notice here?No one leaving a name.Everyone hides behind the anonymous shield of a post. Please,if you are going to ridicule someone or praise them,at least leave your name and stand by what you say otherwise your statement holds no water. Now,I have been to both operators. One has the knowledge and the other one doesnt however the other one has the heart where the other doesnt.Heart from my ball driller will not help me improve my game.Knowledge will. Now look at Spring Hill. THERES a business.Perhaps the owner should take a course from them how to run a bowling alley.A liquor store,a food mart, and changing pro shop owners arent exactly customer pullers. This place went down the tubes when this gentleman took over the business.Ive bowled there many times over the years and nothing there has changed.Same miserable people. Same miserable attitude.I saw someone write that they were happy that Vic is in there because he cares.Well I ask you, why bowl at Mariner Lanes? They dont care.Talk to management there and see if they care.If you are looking for a quality pro shop, quality people, and quality service, PLEASE GO TO SPRING HILL!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE!

another kevin fan boy kevin is about himself not the customer..just cause kevin tucks his shirt in does not make him sorry when i switched for kevin too jay i got alot better and my all around understanding of the game was better…jay cares about the bowler and what the bowler wants.. kevin cares about his pocket and what he wants..

I have an idea.WHO CARES!Grow up people!

Comment Date: 12/30/2009 Name: Customer of Mariner
What makes the Spring Hill shop so much better? Ive been to that guy numorous times and all he has done is screw me. He is overpriced. He caters to who he wants to cater. He has no personality. I know I am not the only one, Ive had Kevin drill balls for me and I had issues with my thumb everytime! It was tearing open and I brought it in to him immediately and told him about it. He said he would fix it and then charged me for it! He charged me for HIS mistake. I dont feel that is being professional. As far as Jason goes, he listened more to the customers. If there was a problem, he fixed it and never charged. When I went to him, he was more concerned in teaching me about the equipment and steering me towards what I needed. I found him to be very knowledgeable. Ive never had issues with his shop. He might have had people hanging around in the shop all the time but other than that, I think his services were fine. Sorry that you folks had a bad experience.

Comment Date: 12/30/2009 Name: lol
oldtimer it sounds like you know everything.heres an idea.maybe because you are just an old unhappy s.o.b. stop being so miserable.what makes you such an expert on many salesman do you possibly interact with.thats the problem with spring hill.maybe its not the salesman maybe its the fact there are too many people like you.ever think of that. far as concerneds statement goes what pro shop person talks and introduces themselves to the officers of the league.what difference is that going to make on anything.from what i remember of the new guy thats in there if you think the guy that was in there before was bad just wait and see what happens.i would rather deal with a guy who knows what he is talking about then a friendly person who talks to the league officers.hes not running for president hes running a pro shop.besides i didnt even know mariner had leagues.everytime i go there the lanes are always available.thats the not point.the point is that if im goin to drop a couple hundred on stuff i would rather go to a guy that knows what he is doing and gives me what i want rather some fake smile and a hello from a guy that doesnt know what hes doing.

Comment Date: 12/29/2009 Name: Oldtimer
Some people are good at selling things, some are good at doing things. As usual in Spring Hill we have another sales man who has no idea what they are doing but will sell you on how good the are. Go to Spring Hill lanes if you want to see how a professional shop is run. Good luck.

Comment Date: 12/25/2009 Name: concerned
if the pro shop is to succeed, then certain changes must be made.first of all, no bowling roadies hanging out there all day. next, a price list on the window showing different costs for difference services. the new owner introducing himself to all the presidents and officers of all leagues. the lack of professionalism and tact has long been showned in this shop. good luck………..

Comment Date: 12/18/2009 Name: Jason Mahr
I left the pro shop on a mutual decision between Raphael and I. It was just in our best interests to go our seperate ways. Things just working out like they used to soooooooo, something had to be done. Im looking into getting back in the pro shop game sometime in the future but for now, I think I am going to enjoy my break from it for a little bit. I still have my drill press and all my tools so I can still do my pro shop thing, just without a shop. Hope I cleared it up for you the best I can.

Comment Date: 12/13/2009 Name: Anonymous
why is jay leaving the pro shop?

Comment Date: 10/7/2009 Name: Anonymous
Wow…Aren’t we testy, answer to anonymous.
It’s amazing how a simple question can be answered so rudely.
I have money to spend and merely asked a simple yes/no call this person at such and such type of question because my search online came up empty.
I heard through the grapevine the lanes are for sale and was considering an investment. I’m actually glad I did because after reading some of the comments here and receiving your answer, I have gotten second thoughts.
If you’re associated with the lanes, enjoy your time. I’ll be investing elsewhere. In the future, you might want to think before you reply so rudely…you never know when lady luck might smile upon you. You callous remarks were uncalled for.

It has been a year since Dave M has gone with our Lord, and every time I go to Mariner, it is almost as though he is there.
last week I bowled in a state event and my team mates all said it was so different not to see Dave here and saying go left and follow through..
There was not a time I walk in to the lanes and practice and Dave was there to help me.. He was always there for everyone..
Lou Angleo said to me he well always be here and I truly belive that, hey gusy and gals I miss him and just want to say I know it has been one year but Dave you always be with all of us.
love Patty B.

I love this Bowling alley, mariner lanes is one of the best places in hernando county to come bowl at at reasonable prices, cosmic bowling is my favorite activity as mariner lanes, next would be the beat the clock thursdays, then $1.79 sundays, great staff, my only dislike is how they pretty much are willing to rip off the customer.
Example, a month or more ago at cosmic bowling at around 10:20pm the power went out, all the staff at mariner lanes did was give each person two free games of bowling instead of a full refund.
Granted we were bowling for an hour but atleast give us something back equal to the money we paid, i would have been happy with $10 dollars worth of free games per person, but instead, we only got
well i want to say 5 bucks back worth of free games but, i feel they still got away with murder[being it was almost sunday i felt they games we revieved were only $1.79, because reguardless of when i went whether it’d be beat the clock thursdays, they’d assume that the free game vouchers would be worth one game[ see what i mean, when i should be worth a game and a half on sundays and thursdays]
anyways other then that little issue, great place to bring the family. 🙂

Hey thats your perogative but i was wondering…..If not for the employee’s there i don’t know what me and my sister or my Dad would have done….and hey come on no need to run the mouth and then hide.

Just came across this message board for the first time, but I wanted to leave a note about Dave since I see his family does read this.
Other than my father, Dave taught me more about bowling than anyone and never asked for a thing in return. I’m pretty certain I’d still be averaging 170 and spinning the ball if it wasn’t for him.
But both he and Peggy were two of the best people I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. No one could treat you better than they did and I feel lucky to have had such great people in my life.
They are both dearly missed, but I’ll forever remember them both and hear Dave’s voice in my head every time I step on the approach.

How long do u think it will take for the whole place to be one big spanish meat market? im afraid to bowl there because i dont want to bring my ball in to get repaired all of the time. All the owner does is skip in and out of the bowling alley with his girlfriends.I like the guy but his prioritys are not in order.I wish this place would run good for once.Im tired of bowling at spring hill every year but i have no problems there. I am sorry u weren’t alble to attend his service, If u would like I will sed u his prayer card we had some left {So sorry – personal email addresses are not permitted 🙁 } I had to brake down and cry with the “El Segundo” remark I have heard that expression since I was a little girl…….God Bless Ya!

Alyce, your Dad was an awesome guy to be around. I never looked foward to coming to work so much when I knew Dave was going to be there. That guy really knew how to make me laugh. Dave always spoke highly of me and Ive always, always spoken highly of Dave. I consider Dave to be a great friend of mine. I wish I could have done more to help during his time of illness but I just wouldnt and didnt know what to do. I was frustrated that I couldnt attend the funeral services so I took a few minutes and said a prayer for my man and talked to him, apologizing that I couldnt be there for him. Dave Mannello was, is, and always will be Mariner Lanes to me, and I know I am not alone in thinking that. Its sad that he left us so suddenly but anyone that truly knows Dave and knows what he was going through with Peggy, knows Dave is in a much better place now….hes with Peg. We will always miss you Dave, long live “El Segundo”! LOL!(Inside joke) R.I.P. Davey Boy.

I found this web blog by accident, I googled my Dad and this came up. I want to thank the wonerful people that either work or bowl at Mariners, I saw a few nice blogs about my Father…which is Dave Mannello, who went to Mom 6/13/08. I know that a part of my Dad will be at Mariners forever, He so loved working there and loved each and everyone that walked though those doors. His Legacy will live on through his love of bowling, his Grandson Jesse (age 11) has already won a few tournaments here in NY and the night before Dad left us my son called from NY and I put the phone to Dad’s ear and Jesse told his Grandpa ” Make sure you watch over me at the PBA tour when I grow up”, and I am sure Dad will be there and he is always with all of you…so remember to “Hit your mark and follow through”. Bless and of you!!

Dave well be missed by a lot of us. When ever you walked into the lanes he was there holding his cup of coffee, or painting doing jobs that needed to be done.. He would of loved to do more but his body said it was time to quit..
He was a great teacher and a serious one. It will be hard to go back and bowl not seeing Him anymore..But what a great place he is in now.

Most of the past issues that I remembered about Mariner Lanes happened under the forgettable leadership of Edie Jo. Since taking over, Rafael has done a commendable job of trying to run Mariner Lanes, despite some of the poor conditions left from previous ownership. I will say that I’m not aware of how much investment is going on at Mariner, convenience store nothwithsatnding, but the actual bowling equipment is probably going to need major work or replacement soon. Most of the leagues run well now, and simply needs the staff to find a little more of the energy that Rafael brings to Mariner Lanes. This may mean getting some new blood hired for staff as many of those who have been there a while seem complacent and don’t enjoy their jobs except for when their own interests are involved.

My children were recently participants in the Hernando County youth Tournament that was hosted by this alley this past weekend. I cannot believe the total lack of professionalism on behalf of this alley and its management. The snack bar with its vast aray of items to choose from was a complete nightmare. Unorganized is an understatement. Not to mention the stupidity of the woman trying to take orders. Also, one of my son’s friends was called an ***hole by the big woman in the green shirt. Not sure who she was but she sure as heck didn’t belong being a scorekeeper. These people who manage this alley sure better learn what customer service means if they plan on staying in business.

No, no one put me in my place. Im just tired of arguing with whiney people about their damn kid who fell down all by her damn self. Maybe if she didnt have 2 left feet. Whats the point of whining about something if your not going to anything about it. Boo-Hoo! Either do something about it or just shut up and move on with your lives.

My husband & I used to take our kids to cosmic bowling at Mariner Lanes. Yes, we did it as a family! And it was fun. Not drop them off and let them do whatever they pleased. I have a son who works there and what should be “working” (handing out shoes, taking money for games, and helping with anyother problems that arise) he has turned into a babysitter. Finding people having sex in the bathrooms, knifes, fighting, drugs, alcohol. I was there with my daughter and her friend one night and some kid kept walking up to the girls grabbing them in the crotch and in the boobs. Then I had a girl lay another girl on the table and start unzipping her pants while they were making out. People WAKE UP!! It’s not up to the employee’s at Mariner Lanes to babysit and keep your kid in check! Isn’t that your job?!? Yeah, everynight my son is working I wonder what will happen to him from one of your darling kids, you know the ones, the ones you don’t want to be around…isn’t that why you just drop them off???? Am I protective…maybe…but unlike you I LOVE TO BE WITH MY KIDS!

I’ve worked at Mariner Lanes for 3 years and I happen to think the place runs pretty well. I was trained to do birthday parties for my first job and let me tell you, it’s not easy handling 15-20 wild children and even more parents than that all at once. Multiply all that commotion by three or four and you’ve undergone the hardships of being a birthday party attendant.
We work as a team, at mariner; when one member needs help, another member picks up extra slack. Factors that are beyond our control, however, such as late guests and uncontrollable children, do have an effect on how smooth the party will run. Even under such circumstances, we do everything in our power to accomodate you and we do it with a smile.
The job of birthday party attendant does not have the word “babysitter” anywhere in its discription; it does not say that we are required to keep your children from falling, and potentially hurting themselves. We tell all the children the risks they take when they decide to cross the foul line or run throughout the center. Should they choose to listen, is entirely up to how well the parents have taught them.
Lastly, the person who said that their party lost bowling time because all their guests didn’t get shoes in time, is lying. Unlike other centers, our birthday parties do not have a set time limit with which we allow them to run. There is no way to tell how long a party can viably run because of the time consuming outside factors I’ve mentioned and because of the likely variations in length that depend on the parent’s choice of package. (Two games take more time than one game)
Because it is impossible to pinpoint the exact moment that a party will be comfortably finished, we allow you with as much time as humanly feasible.

I agree with Amber. We had a birthday party also at the lanes and service was terrible. By the time the kids got their shoes half their bowling time was gone. Very unorganized! The pizza and drinks were late, the employee was not helpful at all. Than we were hurried to get out because of another party. No more parties at this bowling alley

Comment Date: 11/13/2007 Name: Amber
I’ve been bowling at Mariner Lanes off & on for years, but until February I never really had any complaints. I threw my little sister a party there and, to be completely honest, the service was terrible. I paid easily over $200 for six kids to bowl, 2 pizzas, and a few drinks. I was extremely disappointed. Moreover, the people who are supposed to help with the party did nothing. My boyfriend and I set up everything, got the game situated, brought the food & drinks to the table, and asked when we needed something instead of having the “birthday party employees” offering their help. Ever since then, I think the place has been hit-and-miss for us. I still intend on going there and bowling, but never will I have another party there or even recommend one.

Concerned League Bowler: Do you own a home? Do you carry homeowners insurance? If so then you should know that if someone injures himself or herself on your property no matter what they are doing you are liable. Even if they are trespassing and get hurt. This is the same reason businesses carry liability insurance. If someone gets hurt, on there property they are covered and it does not matter if you have signs saying bowl at your own risk. Unless a contract is signed waiving all responsibility, then they are usually liable. WHY DONT YOU GET A LITTLE EDUCATED BEFORE YOU RUN YOUR MOUTH?

Comment Date: 10/29/2007 Name: Concerned League Bowler
I bowl at this establishment and have for many years. You are incorrect about the signs for the risk policy. If you read the screen whenever they turn on a lane the very first thing it says is bowl at your own risk.So whoever told you that they put the signs up after the fact is mistaken. Also I dont understand what the purpose is to talk bad about a place that you say didnt help you.Why dont you take that up with the owner? Not the management because if you read further down there is plenty of negative comments about the management.Any business Ive either worked in or own always had to file some sort of an incident report if something were to happen.Nevertheless,I think your argument is a stalemate. As far as your parenting skills,I dont think that should ever be in question.I just wouldnt come on here and make yourself sound like you are the perfect parent. You never let your child out of your site and all of what you claim,I think is hogwash.Children arent perfect and neither are parents.I agree with whoever said it but you should take a little heat of the business. Is it there fault that your child got hurt?Did they push her?Trip her?Scare her?Did they do anything to make her fall because thats just what children do.They arent exactly coordinated like adults.Even adults can fall down and hurt themselves. Why should the bowling alley cover something that was in no way, shape,or form caused by them?If that was the case, every child that falls down and hurts themself, cries for murder can get free medical coverage because they did it in Mariner Lanes. What Im trying to say is accidents happen. Its not Mariner Lanes fault, its not your fault or anyone elses. Its an accident and thats that. When no one is at fault than it considered a wash. Its just unfortunate circumstance.

Comment Date: 10/27/2007 Name: Real Mariner League Bowler
The bowl at your own risk signs are on the monitors when you first get your lane. If you look up before you push the red button, it says in bold print, “BOWL AT YOUR OWN RISK”. I know this because I am a league bowler at this establishment and have been for the last 10 years. So, you are absolutely wrong about the signs recently being posted after the fact. You are more than welcome to come in and see the screens when people first get a lane. Second, if its going to come down to a matter of proof, that will be hard to prove. At this point, you wouldnt even be able to prove it happened at Mariner Lanes, let alone the fact of trying to prove that your child was horseplaying around. I know, youre a perfect parent, you never let your kids fool around and you always watch them because youre the next Mrs. Brady. Save it. As far as the “incident report”, I am with you on that one actually, because you should always at least fill out an incident report, so no argument there. You want proof, NOW, that the staff was babysitting your kids. Prove that the injury happened here. No incident report, no video tape, no evidence, no case.
Tammy, as far as you go, you are a joke. First, it is nice of you to look that up in the dictionary to show me how to spell a word. As far as your “cracker jacks box” insult, thats weak. Weak like your case you are trying to plead. I may not be a lawyer, but Im sure I am more intellegent than you ever could be. Yeah, I read the paper and watch the news as well. I also see how the businesses usually win in every battle. Why? Because people are con-artists, and they will do anything to make a quick buck. Not saying you are one of these people, however, most business owners know their rights. If you had such a problem with them not giving you the information, why didnt you call law enforcement right then and there? Thats like getting into an accident and the guy that hit you wont give you his insurance information. That could be a problem. Nevertheless, you blew your chance for any kind of lawsuit or compensation because now….you lack proof. Prove that the injury happened here. You cant. Unless you have it on video tape, you have no case so forget it.
And quit posting on this stupid webpage, because maybe 10 people read it at most, so what you are crying about, isnt going to affect the business of the bowling alley, or make anyone think twice. I come on here because one of my fellow league bowlers told me about it. So, I just do it for the laughs.
Oh, so yeah, the “BOWL AT YOUR OWN RISK” sign. Yeah, I dont know who your family is, but like I said, you can come in at any time, and turn on a lane. There will be a screen, and at the very top of it, it says BOWL AT YOUR OWN RISK, and then is followed by additional messages. Its been on those screens since they got the new scoring units several years ago, because they are programmed to do so. So, nice try to your family that bowls here, because they dont pay attention to it either.

Comment Date: 10/24/2007 Name: the 4 year olds mom
Just to set the truth straight, the bowl at your own risk signs did not go up until after the incident happened with my daughter. I have family that bowled there and they told me about them several weeks later when they went up. Second of all I did not say anything to the bowling alley until a few days later when I returned the shoes to them so there was no hostility from me to get the reaction that I recieved from them. They didn’t even want to me to fill out an incident report. What company does that? And finally my kids are not aloud to fool around. I do not allow that, so if you could prove the evidence of me having the staff babysit my kids, I will give you the oppurtunity to show me! My kids aren’t even aloud to go out front without me. All in all the fact of the matter is, is that the people that I tried to talk to were very rude!!!

Comment Date: 10/24/2007 Name: Tammy Patascher
Hahaha-Where did you get your law degree? A Cracker Jacks box? Why do you think businesses are required to have insurance – in case any one is injured on their property for what ever reason. Do you read a newspaper or watch the news – you would see this happens every day – come out of the bowling alley and into the real world. Buy a dictionary so you can use the big words – ludicrous isn’t spelled ludicris. Nice try.

Comment Date: 10/22/2007 Name: hahaha
Well, opinions are like b*tth*les, everyone has them and they all stink. Why should they give you insurance information. It isnt like their equipment fell down on top of you. Your kid tripped, fell, and hurt herself. Why should the bowling center be liable for what your kid did to herself. That is ludicris. Deal with it. That would be like you falling down in the parking lot at Wal-Mart because you tripped over your own shoe, then ask them for their insurance information. They arent going to help you. They will laugh. Its the same scenario. So go ahead and bad mouth Mariner because they are smart enough not to give you information you rightfully do not need. Sorry about your luck.

Comment Date: 10/18/2007 Name: Tammy Patascher
Can you read – nobody ever said that the employees are babysitters. Keep trying to deflect the blame from the bowling alley – you are obviously an owner or employee _ I can tell by the hostility of your responces – proving my point. No matter how much you protest, the fact is still that the alley REFUSED to give any insurance information and were very rude and totally uncaring that a baby was injured.

Comment Date: 10/11/2007 Name: not a mariner staff member
The staff is not babysitters. You should watch your child a little more carefully. If she did walk on to the actual lane and got oil on her shoe, that could be a problem. They have a display that says bowl at your own risk. YOUR OWN. When being in a mode of panic, your judgement isnt the greatest so who is to say that they were rude to you or not. I feel bad for you and your child, however, take some blame for the actions that happened. Again they are not babysitters. They are just employees. Watch your own children. My sympathy is with you in all honesty and I hope she is doing well. Just dont put the blame solely on them.

Comment Date: 10/8/2007 Name: Tammy Patascher
Dear Anonymous, You are wrong and I have an idea that you are staff from the lanes. My daughter watches her children very close. You should be upset by the fact that the lanes could care less about small children being injured not that a child might or might not have stepped over a line and got oil on a shoe. And also that they were extremely rude to my daughter, her husband and even myself when asking about insurance coverage that they never turned over.

Comment Date: 10/4/2007 Name: Anonymous
from what I understand the little girl ran down the lanes which the parents should know to keep a eye on the child so she does not run down the lanes past the foul line & get oil all over her feet & slip..wake up parents

Comment Date: 9/26/2007 Name: Tammy Patascher
My grand daughter age 4, slipped on the oily floor and damaged her two front teeth – went to the hospital – she was injured !! Mariner Lanes refused to give my daughter insurance info for the bills and said it was the four year olds fault for slipping – they were rude and nasty and never even inquired if the child was OK. Recently another child was injured in the same way but her front permanent teeth were knocked out- Bowl at your own risk – I don’t think the lanes carries insurance.

Wow! I am from out of town and have used this site to comment on other lanes I’ve bowled at. Never have I come across such personal attacks on here. To an outsider, I have to wonder just what types of people are in the bowling community in Spring Hill. None of you are giving a very good impression of either bowling center. These kinds of personal attacks show nothing but trash and lack of conviction. All involved should learn some etiquette. If you have a problem with a particular person, speak to them personally, not in a forum like this.
Having come to town to visit a relative, I spent some time at both bowling houses over the course of this week. As for this house, the customer service level was inadequate. The people at the front desk acted as if they had better things to do than answer a question or two about the lanes, operation of equipment, etc. I also found the price to be slightly higher here than at the other house, especially at the snack bar, although, the food was good. As for the lane conditions, I thought my bowl reacted well and needed only minor adjustments to my stance from my home house. I am a 195 average bowler. I am not a power bowler and don’t have a big, hard hook like some, so those bowlers may find the conditions to be different. For my hook, they were adequate.

To the person that wrote about Pat Brennans comments, are you here 24/7? How do you know what goes on? There isnt a single person in Mariner Lanes that is here 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Second, Pat is a well respected person in the bowling community, and if you think she is speaking for herself, thats fine. Same as every other person on this page. We all speak out of our own personal experience. I personally, believe alot of this crap on here is just that……crap. To think, that writing bad things on here is going to get things done. Youre all talking to the horses a**, you need to talk to the head, where the problems might be handled, and I dont mean “general management”. Apparently, most everybody on here feels the same way about John, but Ive seen first hand the rudeness some of these customers give him. Maybe he just attracts that kind of attention, I dont know. I do know that all this whining on a stupid webpage, is ridiculous. There is no credibility with these posts. You want something done, take it up with the owner. My son was at Mariner Lanes about two months ago on a Saturday night. When some kid had a gun and some jerk accounced over the mic that who ever has the gun put it down. My Lord I could not believe my ears. My child came home and said he did not like Mariner Lanes and did not want to ever go back again. He said that he would only go to Spring Hill Lanes on Friday & Saturday nights. It is always safe there and a lot more fun. He only went there 2 or 3 times because of friends and has no desire to return to Mariner Lanes. George and Carlos do a great job and keep the kids safe. Thanks Guys

As a regular customer of Mariner Lanes for the past 3 years, I’m glad someone finally realizes the downfall of the restaurant. Bill left, and no one with any culinary skills ever replaced him! Did I like Bill’s personality…no, not really. But that didn’t matter, I didn’t go to sparetime EVERY Friday night to chat, I took my family there to EAT! The food was always fresh and delicious! From the homemade house dressing to the nightly specials (homemade, not Cisco’s latest offerings). We could count on good food, great portions, and a fare price. Whenever I had out of town guest visit, I felt comfortable bringing them to Sparetime, and we always stayed for cosmic bowling after. Now the menu is nothing more than a fry cook fare, and cosmic has turned into a rave. The bowling is fine, glad the kids have somewhere to go on Friday night, but the food…you know you need to change!! I ran into Bill two weeks ago, and he told me the owner offered him his job back as manager…I sincerely hope he takes you up on it!

Wow, this surprise me about all this crap talk that I am reading… One thing that does surprise me is no one signs there name, whats up with that???
I have bowled in both Centers and I feel very welcome there, if not it could be someone is having a bad day, ( I know there are days we do), or did you forget..
I know there are times the Lanes break down or there is dirt on the floor, well I hope you don’t come to my house you probably would complain about it also..
Sometimes I have been at Mariers desk and listen to some of the customers, and I think Wow why can’t they be nice, these people that work behind the desk, are there to help, if given a chance…Remember they are only human like you..
My Father ownded a Center, and I know how hard it is to please bowlers, it seems we as customers know more than the owners or GM.
I think Raffel and John are doing there best to keep the Center going and helping people.. some of things that have been type in this site, has been blown out of portion.. Where are you getting your info, beats me, cause I am sure you are not at the Centers all the time, if so hmmm maybe should get a job at the Centers. Spring Hill and Mariner Lanes are great Centes and if you could just go in and enjoy the game and I am sure you would find it alot more fun, I do!!!
Hope I did not ofend any one, but its time to focus on something else..
Keep up the good work MARINER & SPRING HILL LANES, see ya this winter…

Dear Long-Time League Bowler (7-23-07)… For only being present at Mariner Lanes for a short time on Tuesday nights, I have to say that I applaud the extensive knowledge you have on the staff and of what goes on day-to-day there! Did you refer to your special “Mariner Lanes Diary” or are you just plain ignorant? Well, I have more news for you, so take out your “diary” and make some changes (and this should help you with your bathroom stalking problem too)… Ahhh, ill-mannered Leo… I am glad someone enjoyed the nonconversive, flat-as-a-pancake attitude of his. So that makes two, his mother and you. If you miss him, I am sure he will be at ‘a bar the serves under-age kids’ near you, so dont be sad. Maybe you can bring your kids (or grandkids) in for a beer and a shot. As for Luis, the manager of the bar and restaurant; the comment you made about him ‘just being a fry-cook’ at Legends… I guess he would be insulted if he stooped to the level of your little pouting phase you seem to be going through right now. He is a great person and does a great job here. He is personable, greats and treats customers (new and old) with respect and has been building up business again at SpareTime. So before you plan to leave a comment like the one below, get your facts straight. Goodluck, grow-up and stop pouting.

Comment Date: 7/25/2007 Name: Luis
To the comment that was made about being a fry cook. First I am not a fry cook. I have been a manager for many years and that includes managing Legends. Second don’t judge my decision on what he told you. There is another side to it. I am not about to involve you or any other customer on what happens to the employees at Sparetime or Mariner Lanes. That is between the management. The employee that you are referring to should tell you the whole story and not what he wants you to hear. I’m sorry that you feel the way you do. I am here to run a business and that is what i intend to do. As for you going to another bowling center i am sorry to hear that. Mariner Lanes is a good Bowling Center. We are in the process of starting new and exciting things. I am sorry that you will miss out. Thank you for your comment and i will take what you say as constructive criticism.

Alright, I really hope Rafeal reads these messages. It appears this website is to bash bowlers, employees, and the bowling alley/lounge. I thought it was to voice your opinion, so that is what I am going to do.
I will start by saying I can’t believe what I have read about and seen in the bowling alley and lounge.
Rafeal, you came into the bowling business knowing nothing and you have/had some good people there to help you. But it looks like it didn’t work out that way.
You let Bill go from the kitchen. Now we all know Bill was not the most pleasant person. I have seen him lash out at his employees in front of customers, which is not good, BUT he was a good cook. Since his departure, your dining business has dropped to no evail. This person you have now, Luis, Louis, whatever, has done nothing. NOTHING. I have been there on Friday and Saturday nights when that dining room was packed. Now, I was lucky to see 2 tables with customers. The kitchen has died.
Now I understand that Leo has been terminated. Rafeal, contour to yours and this new person beliefs, a lot of your lounge business WAS because Leo was there. It was a shame he got in trouble serving that underage girl. But like the comment earlier, Leo came back because you had no one else. I would like for you to look at your revenue on the nights Leo worked and I bet you see how much more was made in that lounge while he was there. Go back to last year even. I will spread the word that Leo no longer works there and I do believe your bar business will die just like your kitchen business did. What a shame. TISK TISK TISK
For the girls, ladies, whatever, at the front desk. I have not met anyone of them who didn’t have an attitude. That is more of a shame because they are your front line. They are the ones who help (and I use that word loosely) your customers. Sue just has a natural “tone”, but to some, she comes accross like a B*^**&. Blanche, she is just ignorant. Jeanne just said it, “if you don’t like it here, then leave” Is that what you really want Rafeal? It really does appear that they give you the impression that if you don’t like it here, then just leave. Rafeal, if that keeps up, you won’t have anyone to write on this site because there won’t be a Mariner Lanes. I am just appauled at what I see going on at the lanes. And again, this guy you got running your lounge and kitchen, he NEEDS to go. I most likely will not be a customer again in your establisment. I would rather drive to Pasco county and bowl. (notice I didn’t mention Spring Hill lanes) I really hope that I hear things have changed and then maybe, just maybe I’ll come back. Keep in mind, word of mouth is everything. Good luck to you Rafeal.

I have bowled for many years at Mariner. I have seen many employees come and go. John knows it all, but does not help anyone. Mariner Lanes is a hang-out for some of the sleeziest group of young adults I have seen. I will not eat, bowl, or even visit Mariner again. When they have good employees they treat them like crap and think hiring sexy girls flashing boobs will help their business. My husband and I usually came to eat dinner, but with the staff they have now we will go elsewhere.

i have worked for Mariner Lanes for almost 2 years now, being a teenager who plays a sport (as do most of the teenage employees)i have been nothing short of thrilled with the flexibility of my hours. The management team has been very uderstanding when I need off!

Having a hard time understanding your recent staffing choices!! For 3 years I have bowled every Tuesday evening, and ALWAYS go in for a beer after. When you hired Luis, I was confused, from being a fry cook that was fired from Legends to the bar manager…odd, but I thought I’d give it a whirl. Even when Leo was fired the first time for serving an underage girl, though saddened, I understood it. But I was also happy when you brought him back…because Luis had no one else to turn to. Leo helped you out, coming back when you had NO ONE ELSE to turn to. Now you fire him because you think you’ll be better off with some hot young girls. As a paying customer let me tell you, this is not why people go to a bowling alley bar…they want a friendly place to have a few beers after an evening of fun. Didn’t you learn your lesson the first time? How many times will you get burned with employees not showing up, steeling, or doing drugs in the bathroom? (I saw them myself) My league ends soon, and so will my affiliation with Mariner Lanes. After all this time I am joining my many friends, and saying good bye. We have all signed up for a league at Spring Hill Lanes, where the owners seem to focus on what’s important…good customer service!

First let me begin by stating I am happy to find this site, which gives some insight into what is going on at the center. I brought my children there with the coupons they received from school, allowing a free game of bowling while on summer vacation. I was surprised that the card did not include shoe rental, and feel that should have been noted on the card. It seemed like a ploy of sorts that it was not mentioned, as any parent knows, once you are there your children would never agree to leave due to a hidden fact! I will also add that we know go to Spring Hill Lanes weekley, as the shoe rental is free. We are not cheap, and spend money there each week (bowling a second game and eating lunch), perhaps you should rethink this policy. While I was there a young boy in the next lane fell and cut his chin. In an effort to help I ran to the desk to get the first aid kit. An older man with glasses simply stood there and wouldn’t even answer my request. After almost a full thirty seconds, he said “we don’t have one” and walked off. This young boy was hurt so badly that the mother took him to the hospital and he received 4 stitches. I know this because I gave her my number as she left and asked her to let me know how the child did. I know that businesses are not made on one happy customer, but I also know that they can be ruined with several UN happy ones. After reading the several postings it seems that the attitude is “if you don’t like it go somewhere else”, that is very sad! I have a hard time understanding why the owners would allow a man with such ill regard towards customers to work in the public at all, let alone be the GM…well good luck to you!!

Oh yes, girls will be girls. The boys are just as bad. Nobody is perfect. I think some of the guys can’t stand the fact that some of the young ladies could kick their beinds anyday. Sorry fellas, this is no longer a male dominated sport. Watch out, I could name four girls who are playing on your level. Next year should be interesting.

I really don’r believe you know who I am. If you did, you would feel really stupid. Oh wait, you are stupid. You can’t even spell. Do you know anything about sentence structure? Give me a break. I think the only thing you do know how to do is bowl. That is the only thing you have going for you. I am not whiney. In fact, I laugh at you. Pathetic!!!

Dear Staff at Mariner Lanes,
Would you please take back the immature and snobbish bowlers that came running to us from your alley. They are runing our youth leagues with their constant complaining. These boys and their overbearing parents belong in your house, not ours. Please come and take them home.

Comment Date: 7/10/2007 Name: Don’t want to give
First I will say, I’ve read every single comment on this page, and everyone, and I mean everyone needs to learn how to spell.
Second, I have bowled at Mariner for the last 4 years and I will say, it is a good place to bowl. Right now, the lanes are just to easy.
As for the DJ situation, just get over it. Apparently there was an issue and management let him go. So be it. No one cares.
I do agree with some of the comments about the kids just hanging around. I’ve been there Friday and Saturday nights and I don’t like what I see. It really doesn’t look good for a new customer to come in and bowl.
I was not aware of the pat downs on Cosmic Bowl nights. I’m not sure what to say about it at this time.
As for the comments about the management personal, I agree with some. I’ve seen the GM not help customers while he was at the desk. But, I’ve never had a problem with him. Jeez, I thought the blonde girl was nice. She did know what she was doing behind that desk from what I saw.
Gotta go, but watch for more from me.
Have a great day/evening.

First let me applaud the creative writing team of Steve and Amanda and their attempts at discrediting Mariner Lanes through anonymity. I think now is the time to put away the Barbie dolls, G.I. Joes and Scooby Doo training pants. Step into the adult world people.
Pitching a hissy fit because the owner wishes to exercise HIS right as to whom he hires or replaces is not professional and casts a dim light on you playing future venues in this town.
DJs and Lane girls are not under binding contracts and are therefore replaceable as any other employee or sub-contractor. It is nothing more than a sound business decision.
If you take it personally then may I suggest a few episodes of Dr. Phil to get you grounded.
As to Mariner Lanes, the bowling center is a great place for kids to get together and be kids. Every business in the County is experiencing a downturn in revenue due to fuel costs or cut hours at ones place of employment. Times are tough for us all; however, Mariner Lanes is trying to be The One Stop place for entertainment and fine food in Hernando County. The atmosphere is relaxed but with an eye on safety and public welfare.
Rafael is constantly looking for ways to improve and initiate new concepts of entertainment either in the Bowling Center or Spare Time Lounge. He has gone above and beyond his means to help all on his payroll or those gracious enough to do business with him. Sue Mitchell must also be commended for all her hard work and dedication. She is the glue that binds the workforce together and helps make sense that would drive any other manager in her position crazy. John simply does the job he was hired to do and does it well. I think very few people appreciate the challenges that his position entails.
In light of what has been said, Mariner Lanes is, above all, a family center which helps nurture a spirit of unity the likes of which can not be realized from watching television or screening violent movies.
We do have a diamond in the rough here but given time it is destined to become Hernando Countys jewel in the crown!

Since this certain person will say he is a D.J and is name is Steve, complains all the time he only goes up there to hang out with his girlfriend, why she goes out with him is another mystery, he should learn to shut the hell up.The bowling alley is a good house & they are starting to have alot more stuff for the younger kids & teenagers, but this D.J. “Steve” is just a whiney old wash women who needs to complain to feed his ego.this kid because he is only 20 yrs old is just a little punk and needs to complain just to hear himself because nobody will pay him any mind..well enough, if this comment gets D.J. Steve upset, then he should just shut up & get out,, & stop bowling on Tues nights,, ears will be lisening

I have been at Mariner lanes just about every Sat. nite in the last year. For the last 6 mo. they have been patting down the boys and have never patted down any girls or women for that matter. the searching was started by the deputies that work there on Sat. nite and the door men kept it up.If the kids didn’t carry weapons you wouldn’t have metal detectors at the schools or having kids shoot or stab kids.

My name is Ryan, I have been working at the center for over 4 yrs. As far as Mariner lanes goes for being a good place to work it is, despite the comments of a particular ex-employee. What wasn’t talked about in the incidence involving the DJ was that he was very disrespectful towards other employees, their family members, and to the customers. Everyone knows whether in a work place or not you treat people with respect and if you choose not to obviously there will be consequences. Mariner Lanes is a good place for parents to bring their kids and spend some quality time. The staff will try their hardest to make any accommodations that are necessary for you. Mariner Lanes has lost 2 very important people the last year, Peggy Mannello and Joey Impellizzieri. These two individuals were very close to many peoples hearts and are very missed. They were always there for others and to help in any way possible. Our thoughts will always be with them.

It looks like to me that all the comments on this page belong to the same person. I mean, its just funny, the typing, the wording, the grammar, all looks relatively the same to me. If your going to sit on the computer and try to make the bowling alley look bad, dont make it look like you wrote all of them. Just because you throw on some different names doesnt mean that different people are writing those statements. Take a good look at all the recent posts and you will see the same similarities that I do. Its just sad. Not only that, but MOST of these comments have been made within the last week, about the same time the DJ got the boot from the bowling alley for being a hothead over the weekend. Sounds like to me someone is really bitter about Mariner Lanes, maybe because they treated you like you deserve. It doesnt matter how much money you “think” you pull in, the kids are going to come, with or without you. You are replaceable, and from what I have heard, thats already been done. As far as the employees youre bad mouthing, they find it hilarious more than anything. Keep making them laugh.

Comment Date: 6/27/2007 Name: Anonymous
I’m glad the DJ got fired. He was just a punk kid looking for trouble. Mariner Lanes nor anyone else should hire this incompetent fool. He has no respect for anyone so therefore he should receive no respect. As an innocent bystander on Friday and Saturday nights, I have continuously observed the over 18 DJ flirting , dancing, etc., with girls well under the age of 15. That goes to show you what kind of person the former DJ is. Mariner Lanes has done nothing short of be helpful and attentive when dealing with the children that come daily on weekend nights. Loosing a loose cannon is the best thing that could have happened to Mariner Lanes. Good Riddance.

It’s a shame that all these negative comments are put on this site after the dj gets fired. It seems to me that the dj is the one posting all these comments. Making up a few names is real easy to do. Mariner Lanes and Sparetime are improving on a daily basis. I don’t have any complaints. I like to bowl there and afterwards have a drink at Sparetime. As for the dj, i think you need to stop wasting your energy on making false complaints and focus on being a better business man.

Mariner Lanes is run like crap. They have “workers” there that have an i.q. of 30. Why employ people who have no clue about anything pertaining to bowling? The manager, John, is the most inept, nasty, and non-caring person, to hold a position of “manager” of a bowling alley. If something goes wrong, and it does…don’t expect him to get involved! He’s not there most of the time anyway..they do however, have a moron behind the desk, who at any given moment, can tell you she knows nothing. (I do beleive she is part of the clan.) Just keep the {deleted} going, and Mariner Lanes can one day be a giant parking lot.

I was just curious. With all these complaints, how come there is no names to go with these complaints. Everybody is a big mouth behind anonymous posts, so until there is any names left, ALL of the posts are uncredible. Grow up, if you have a problem with management, and you want something done about it, take it up with them or bowl somewhere else. Nothing is more pathetic than a bunch of whiney *ss adults complaining like children. For all you know, some of your children that go to bowl the Cosmic Bowl, are friends with those other “project” kids. What you dont see, you cant comment on. Nobodys child is perfect, and neither is anyone posting on this topic. Save your breath, if you dont like it, then go somewhere else. Simple as that. Act like grown ups instead of stuck up parents that think their kid(s) are number 1 and somehow more special than the others, because they arent. Get a clue, get a grip on reality, and act mature. Nice postings, grown ups. Yeah right.

I love the game and I would like to see others enjoy it also. I am a good bowler and I like the fact that Spring Hill has two places to choose from. I want to inform all of you parents out there that your children are being subjected to one of the worst environments I have ever seen. Mariner Lanes on Friday nights is the worst place to send your kids. It’s overcrowded(exceeds legal occupancy), the smoke is overwhelming, and the worst of all things is what you hear coming from the speaker system, the most rude, obnoxious, vulgar, obscene, triple x rated music you can hear, and it’s being played by the management of Mariner Lanes for your kids to listen to. This proves to me that they care more about the money than they do about our community and your kids. Please spread the word and don’t go there anymore, not even to bowl. I made the choice to go to Spring Hill Lanes and you should do the same. Stand up for this community and stop Mariner Lanes from what they are doing, please.

Like some other comments about management,I also feel that the current manager is only concerned about ringing the cash register, and ignoring any complaints, either mechanical or otherwise. The new owner,Rafael is a very courtious and giving person, although his lack of bowling management is his one flaw. I feel with experience and new personell,he can make Mariner Lanes return to it’s once fine level.

It is a shame that these people that complain never leave a name. So you hate kids at bowling lanes, slam the bowling lane. This bowling center like many others has a Cosmic Bolwing night Friday and Saturday, most catering to kids. The rest of the week is mostly open bowling. The new owner has invested money in a new oil machine and pins. The approches have been re-conditioned also. I have bolwed on several leauges over the past few years and it has been on a whole a very pleasent experiance. But like anyplace there will always be a few loser that want to complain. They seem to not accept any change. All I can say is go there and check out the place, you wont be disappointed. Tuesday and Wensday nights after 9 are cheap open bowling nights.

Mariner Lanes is the worst run center in West Central Florida. Since the departure of former owner Edie Jo Norman, it is a bit more tolerable. The manager, John, and his “side-kick”, Sue, run the place like a prison; they have no respect for the bowlers and the attitudes of their employees show disgust. Do I tolerate it? NO, I do not! I took my dollars to Spring Hill Lanes and could not be happier. Sue, a long-time employee, needs to be sent packing, along with John. I hope the current owner, Rafael, reads this posting and makes the proper decision for his business.

The employees are unconcerned about the happiness of customers; this is the attitude taught them by the owner, Edie Jo Norman. Not a fun place to bowl!!
