Aj. every friday i used to sub at berlin and the lanes were always bone dry and caused my bowling balls to scratch up big time. i do bowl pba regionals whenever i get the chance. i know how to play lane conditions. i just dnt like my equiment to * up.

“If u cant figure out a lane condition my friends. Than ur not a true bowler”. Didn’t you post this on the Milford section? Wood lanes + Reactive Resin balls = excessive arc. You should have bought your Plastic or urethane equipment with you.

Comment Date: 1/25/2012 Name: john leidel
subbed there friday nites and the lanes are absolute disaster! donot use reactive resin unless u swing the ball above 20mph. usually a house shot has hold when a shot is missed inside. but when u miss your target inside for a righty or vise versa kiss ur ball goodbye in the gutter or chop the 7 or 10 pin. use plastic for this house!

Mike, obviously, you are not a very good bowler. Any GOOD bowler would not waste their time in that Pro Shop. Those guys are idiots. If you really want to improve your game, 1st, start bowling at Bowl-O-Rama and 2nd, find a good Pro Shop to purchase your equipment from. Let me ask you this. Did they check you tilt, ball speed, axis rotation BEFORE they selected a ball and layout ? If not, all you got was a standard drill for ANYONE but not specific to your game and style. Do you still think they are a good pro shop ? Your answer should be no, unless, you are also an idiot.

bowl there in 2 leagues never averaged over 180 till jeff and bill set me up with the right ball and fit now average 200. they are great guys so maybe its you pete and that you always want a discount on everything.

Comment Date: 9/8/2010 Name: Pete
I agree, if you think the pro shop guys are good, then you are either 10 years old or too old to care.

Comment Date: 8/23/2010 Name: Anonymous
Jeff and Bill have no clue on how to drill a ball. They are the blind leading the blind. If you think they did a good job on your ball, then you have no clue on how a ball should feel and react. Find a reputable pro shop and stop going to this dump.

Comment Date: 8/23/2010 Name: Pete
Is this dump still open ? Thought for sure that Jeff would have been out of business by now. The guy is a complete idiot and the Pro Shop guy Bill is no better. I guess, if you like to go back to the 50’s and bowl, then Berlin Bowl is the place to go.

Why is it if you have somthing bad to say you dont put your name on it, show some guts.

Comment Date: 7/21/2010 Name: Anonymous
If you had a ball drilled by Bill or Jeff and liked it, you must s*ck. They are about the worse drillers in the state.

Comment Date: 7/10/2010 Name: Anonymous
Front desk guy/owner Jeff is a real jerk. The two pro shop guys are great. I love the ball I got drilled there.

I bowl at berlin Bowl and if you cant hit the shot there you need to take some lessons and relize your not bowling on plastic lanes they are real wood, you just need to use diferent set-ups on your equipment. I enjoy bowling league there.

Drove by this place on the way to bowl-a-rama the other day and noticed that the bbuilding has a brand new roof. Has ownership changed? After readind the reviews I wouldn’t dare go in there.

Think when you look up the word “Dump” in a dictionary, you see a picture of Berlin Bowl.

Comment Date: 9/14/2008 Name: Anonymous
Stopped in the other day. Jeff is still a jerk, glad i am bowling somewhere else this year.

Comment Date: 7/7/2008 Name: anonymous
i have to agree the owner is the most unfriendly guy. i only go there because it is close to my house but really dislike the owner.

Some real good bowling centers in CT have closed in the past 5 years. Wish Hamden was still open and this dump closed. Hamden was so much nicer and had better lane conditions then this place. Plus, the management was much friendlier. I think the owners name is Jeff. What a jerk. he should not be alowed to talk to any of the customers. Not sure who runs the pro shop but the 2 guys that i talked to were complete idiots. I was looking for another place to bowl next year and it will not be Berlin.

The Berlin Bowl staff is always unfriendly, and never want to help, they are constantly in bad moods. The pro shop, the one hour a week that its open, is run by idiots who won’t know how to do the job correctly. The food is completely overpriced and is not even satisfying at all to the pallet, the food honestly tastes terrible. As for the bowling balls, every single one is dented and scratched up so bad that it alters the playing experience. The lanes do not seem like they are kept well because a straight roll will drift left or right quite often. Overall, there are much better bowling alleys in Connecticut. This place gives a “dump”-like feel and I do not plan on returning.

Berlin bowl may as well be closed becuase the place is awful.

Comment Date: 5/7/2008 Name: matt
this is the worst bowling alley in CT. The people there are clueless when it comes to bolwing equipment and i think the pro shop is awful. Wal mart has better bowling stuff than they do. Berlin Bowl is a dump. It is absolutley nasty. The place bowls like crap and is horribly maintained. Perhaps the worst part of the place is the service and employees. They are always in a bad mood, never want to help, and have no clue what they are doing. If you are a fan of fantastic though you may want to visit…..hell no. The food tasted like it just came out of a sewer-TERRIBLE. I will never go to this place again IT STINKS!!!!!!

Comment Date: 5/7/2008 Name: anonomous
wow. let me start off by saying this is the worst bowling experience ive ever had. The service s*cks, the food is horrendous, the pro shop is the worst ive seen- the crap they sell is wal mart quality and wont last a week. Not to mention the alley smells like crap and the music they play brings me back to the seventies and i feel like killing myself. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME IN THIS CRAPSHOOT, spend your money at a better place like BOWL A RAMA.

Comment Date: 1/22/2008 Name: Jim
I think they are. Everyone I know who used to bowl there does not anymore. They all think, Jeff, the owner is a jerk and extremely unfriendly. Not to mention, that the Pro Shop is run by the three stooges, meaning they do not have a clue how to drill and layout equipment. Bottom line, they may as well be closed.

Comment Date: 1/4/2008 Name: Fred
Are you kidding, are they really open ??

Comment Date: 12/10/2007 Name: stoke on ramp
Berlin Bowl is open, what planet are you on?

Comment Date: 11/7/2007 Name: Anonymous
I can see why. The owner, Jeff is the most unfriendly person around. He always walks around with an attitude. Plus every week, you have a MYSTERY shot to bowl on. Glad I went somewhere else. Feel bad because I bowled there for over 15 years.

Comment Date: 10/27/2007 Name: Anonymous
Ye, it did close down.

Comment Date: 7/17/2007 Name: Anonymous
I heard this place was closing down. Is it ?

Comment Date: 7/7/2007 Name: Mike
I havent seen much worse dumps though. I go across the street now.

Comment Date: 6/25/2007 Name: Bowler
I have seen better dumps

Comment Date: 6/21/2007 Name: Anonymous
Yea, I agree, it is a dump

Comment Date: 5/18/2007 Name: Never Again
Bowled there last winter and will never walk in there again. The Manage/owner is a *ss and the pro shop people are all idiots. Basically, it is a dump that should be torn down !!
