Was there lasy Sat niht for normal bowling. Aside from the people that had no clue how to bowl, the Computer system was slow and needs MAJOR updating. Has the flat panels but old DOS system? Guy at desk had no clue how to reset system and took 15 mins of paid hour trying to remove someone before finally resetting whole lane. Agree that sound system was not made to handle the cosmic bowl music. Seemed to show its age with the table and chairs and no security for personal belongings with the whole lane setup. Wish they posted the Pro Shop hours but didn’t see it on the door and the website has no link to the Pro shop.

Lanes are good. customer service was much better before new manager. IDK why people say the pro shop is never open? They are open 7 days a week. Morning and evening hours. I bowl 20-40 games a week there and have been to just about every other alley in the area. AMF silver is the best

They probably could but the cost of insurance to cover retards the fall down and idiot league bowlers who think because they bowl in one league a week they should be given the world for free keeps the new stuff at bay.

I think the point is that the ball returns were used Brunswick 2000 units, not made since 1994! For the amount of money that place makes, why not go the extra mile and get NEW equipment instead of used?

Comment Date: 8/25/2010 Name: Anonymous
its amusing going through this page and seeing people that have no clue what they’re talking about. It’s a couple years old but to the guy who mentioned Brunswick ball returns and broken pins: AMF has more Brunswick equipment than AMF. The only centers that are required to have all AMF stuff is the Avenue E and 300 centers. As for pins, they get changed every year and a half, so its kind of hard for dead pins to be there forever.

Nice lanes, good price for Friday nights, but they need to do something with the sitdown DJ who plays the same old music in the same mix EVERY week.As if sitting down isn’t tacky enough his uses very shabby looking equipment that sounds awful because its way over stressed trying to put music into the building, plays mp3’s off his laptop mostly old school.
Oh one other thing, AMF might consider upgrading or atleast replacing some bulbs in their Extreme lighting.

I havent seen a car towed in forever, and by the way the reason that policy was put in place was because the TOWN of East Hartford said so.
Also, I’m curious as to who you are FenwayFan, I’ve been there for 4 years and this is my 3rd year bowling in the SB Classic (which is bigger than I have seen it, 24 teams) seems to be doing really {deleted}, huh?

Comment Date: 8/26/2009 Name: KHALIL AND KRAZY
i agree with ed mele. if you are going to talk junk, use your real name. but i also agree with that towing ish. it’s not like anyone is parked in the fire lane. also if you want people parked in the right space, re-do the parking lot and have new lines put down again.

It’s been awhile since I have been on this page and I have to say day nothing has changed at Silver Lanes. It’s still a dump with garage customer service.
I was there the night the manager was on the phone calling tow trucks. So as for the pickle smuggler who said I didnt see that with my own eyes, he knows where to go. Also, I was there the same night the “joe not so cool” was trying to pick up that animal looking chick and didn’t pick up the page to reset the pin.
Take it from someone who saw it with his own eyes before you listen to the managers ball boy who he sends here post relpies!

not getting into this drama here, but I’d just like to say that whoever it is in the pro shop at silver lanes is excellent in my opinion. after about a 4 year break from bowling, I started a league again using their ball and my average is about 40 pins higher than it ever was, and I’ve been hitting 200 games every week.

Its funny how the manager on Weds night is more concerned with trying to impress a female rather that take care of what he gets paid to do and that is to HELP THE BOWLERS. We were bowling and needed a pin spotted and hit the intercom and no one answered for minutes, sure enough look at the desk and the guy is trying his hardest to impress this ugly chick. Why do bowling alleys hire these type of managers with no experience, who rather do other things. I can see if the guy was an employee but common a manager, what is amf thinking. No wonder why bowling alleys are going under.

Love the approach and shoes… ball return machine is pretty slow though. Overall very nice center

Comment Date: 5/29/2008 Name: Anonymous
funny how people on here think the AMF manager is the one who calls the shots with the towing…GET A CLUE!!!! the property owner set up that system of towing cars….b**ch at them, not the AMF staff…I worked there and know firsthand we HATED seeing your cars towed and actually asked the guy to come inside the center and give you folks a chance to keep it from getting towed. on a NUMBER of occasions he did too…besides….if you actually learned to park in a spot and quit the {deleted} you wouldn’t be towed….you’re not the only people who bowl there ya know….o and fyi – there are even MORE leagues coming to silver lanes, and every single winter league re-upped with them, so i dunno what you all are talking about when you talk about moving to bradley bowl or anywhere else….unless you dont mind being the only ones from your league there………

if you’re smart enough, call 1-800-dial amf and speak to mike mckinley.he was promoted thru the ranks of amf.he’s in charge of bowling center operations.

Comment Date: 4/12/2008 Name: john o fan
Yeah. I agree with john o. They need to get back to customer service instead of towing their customers cars. If I’m bowling and go to leave after league night, and MY car is gone. I’m going to be pissed. They were going to tow a pick up truck on monday because the back of the truck was a little over the line. I thought there was going to be a riot. There was one customer giving the tow truck driver hell, and I applauded him. {deleted} I’ll be in Bradley next year. There’s pleanty of other places to bowl. Who needs that BS.

Comment Date: 4/11/2008 Name: john o
the towing no stealing of cars is terrible if im parked between the lines and get towed as some people have im getting my lawyer that towing company is a disgrace and that AMF lets them do it is even worse Bradley bowl center here i come

Comment Date: 4/8/2008 Name: FenwayFan
Silver Lane is still a DUMP. The S.B Classic hopefully will move to a different house. Every Wednesday you will find the manager outside with his cell phone calling the tow truck for people who are not park between the lines in the parking lot! You heard me right, if you don’t park in between the lines or park in a spot unmarked your getting towed! Sorry man, how about putting some of that time into customer service instead of doing the customers a disservice. Come on down to Silver Lane and get towed!!!

Get a grip people. Split house, one mechanic and a company trying to cut costs…..Yeah when you are on one side of the house trying to fix a machine and something happens on the other side of the house, it is going to take a minute to fix the secondary problem when you are alone.

Comment Date: 2/27/2008 Name: Ed Mele
All the Mele’s worked in bowling centers at one time or another. But, Dan’s bowling resume’ reads like this; Counter and Pro Shop at Bloomfield Bowling Center, Pro Shop at South Windsor Ten Pin, Pro Shop at Silver Lanes, counter and pro shop at 2 centers in Allentown, Pa. and manager of 1 center in Bethlehem PA.
And for those hiding behind an alias on this board, if your going to talk trash, MAN UP and use your real name.

Comment Date: 2/26/2008 Name: Anonymous
First of all, Dan Mele did run a bowling center in PA for a few years. Second of all, his WIFE doesn’t need anyone to support her, thank you!

Comment Date: 2/24/2008 Name: Dan Mele
I dont know why anyone brought my name up, however,, I did manage a center in PA. for 4 years and jc if you think you are better than me than use your real name, if not, shut your trap.

Comment Date: 2/23/2008 Name: One of the meles
Who the heck is jc tran? Some shmuk that crawled out from underneath a rock. You must have some pretty big balls for saying that the meles are no good at bowling. Some of us meles only get one night a week to bowl league and some of us dont get to bowl tournaments every weekend. But on the other hand there are a few of us that actually know how to bowl. Im one of them. Do you know all the meles? NO, I didn’t think you did. When you get to meet some of us we are pretty good people. And for you saying something about my uncle and his personal life. You have no right to say any of that!!! Unless I am missing something and you just had one bad encounter with him. He actually has worked in a bowling allies before. He would have done just a fine job at silver, but I think he is much happier with the job he has now. Well jc tran when you grow some and you can actually put your real name on the message board don’t go talking any crap about other people and there families!!!!

Comment Date: 2/23/2008 Name: Ed Mele
Awwww, look at all the Mele bashers. Afraid to use their real names. Typical. Big internet balls.

Comment Date: 2/21/2008 Name: jc tran
AMF has a good manager, least he knows how to do a job, even though there could be changes. DAN MELE?????? Why would anyone bring his name up. He has no experience running a center, he wasn’t that good of a bowler, and just because he is a MELE makes him a good choice????? The whole Mele clan of bowlers aren’t that good. Must have been one of their relatives who mentioned his name. Maybe his girlfriend since he had no job and she needs him to support her.

This place has really improved since I moved down in 2001. I went there with my family a few months after moving and it was pretty bad. Now it has been totally renovated and is much better. The lanes are oiled every day and the lanes are all in perfect condition. Any breakdowns are taken care of very quickly by very knowledgeable mechanics and the front desk staff are very good at helping with all requests. The wait can be a few minutes during the busy times but thats true of everywhere. Its a big place and has plenty of lanes, the wait is only more than 10 minutes when they have at least 2 leagues bowling at once. There is very little they can improve and I love going there on a constant basis.

Comment Date: 11/20/2007 Name: Me
Who the heck is this Dan Mele guy nn? How does he know how to run a business? Hes just probably some guy that thinks he knows what he is doing but then ends up running the house into the ground! If he is related to those meles then he must also s*ck at bowling too! I gguess im just to good at bowling for you guys to understand!

Comment Date: 11/16/2007 Name: nn
should have hired Dan Mele when you had the chance, at least he knows what the bowling buisiness is all about.

This place stinks! There prices are way to high for a bowling alley. Me and my buddy went there after work to play a few games in a friday around 6pm. After standing at the counter for 5 mins waiting to be helped (the manager was having a conversation with a friend) we were charged about 10$ each for shoes and a game.. This is not 2 games.. but ONE game at like 5$ a person. After spending 11.50$ on a pitcher of beer we were in about 30$ for a game and a pitcher for 2 people. After the game we decided we would like to play another figuring it would be a bit cheaper. But nope. they wanted another 5$ a person to play another game.. This would have brought the tab to 40$+ for an hour of bowling and a pitcher of beer.. Insane. I will not be going there again.

This center is terrible. I have bowled there for years and it is getting worse. It has a different manager every month and the service is horrible. I have waited for service at the front desk on many occasions for up to ten minutes. Good luck at the that desk your better off going into the bar for change or even the snack bar. Oh, that’s right the snack bar is filled with drop outs that have no idea what they are doing. You have to see these kids. They cannot be serious? Don’t even bother trying to get help with a lane break down. The intercoms are hanging off and some are not even there! Also, check out Brunswick ball returns in a AMF house? They must have got them off Ebay or something. Also every lane has one or a couple of broken pins that have been there forever. I also like the broken a/c in the bar all summer. The projection screen in the bar is another Ebay item. The managers are just about as clueless as can be. Even though they have had 5 in the last year none of them could probably score well on a IQ test. I’m just saying I could go to vernon or bradley and get more for my money! Bottom line Silver Lanes is a dump!

If you’re referring to the Bradley post. I just noticed that. I like Bradley too. I bowled there for 10+ years. Plus they did a lot of renovations there. It looks great and I go there to have my balls drilled. They have the best pro shop. I never had the problems that other people had with Bradley. I don’t have any kids, but I see a lot of kids having fun at Bradley. The post on the Bradley site is from someone nicknamed Zartan. I have the “r”. It wasn’t me. Fair enough though. I did my first summer league at Silver and it was hot as hell. Management was stingy with the AC. I won’t do anymore summer leagues at Silver. I don’t see a lot of lanes breaking down at Silver. Once in a while, but that’s true everywhere. I like Silver Lanes and Bradley Bowl. South Windsor Ten Pin was a fun league, but that’s a poorly maintained house.

Comment Date: 10/3/2005 Name: Dick
It’s nice to see that Zartan goes on other bowling alley pages and posts how bad they are and then has the nerve to advertise Silver Lanes as the best bowling alley. Give me a break, I’d rather bowl in hell than at Silver, oh wait it’s hot as hell in their so maybe I will. Also the pro shop is never open and there is no way to fix every lane quickly because there are a lot of them. The lanes always need fixing so Silver is not the best bowling alley.

Comment Date: 7/6/2005 Name: Zartran
This is one of the best bowling centers in the Metro Hartford area. The staff is great, lanes are perfect. Any problems with the lanes are resolved quickly by a knowlegeable staff. The bar area is huge. It has pool tables (for a reasonable rate) and great bartenders. There is also plenty of room at the lanes. That seems to be a problem with a lot of the centers (South Windsor for example). Not enough space. That’s not the problem here. Even with the biggest leagues, there’s plenty of seating / standing room so you’re not always running into people.
