Hi, I have just had my bowling ball re-fitted in your bowling ball shop by Steve Valente. It fits great now, I bowled over my average this week on each game in both Monday and Thursday nites.

clayton Valley Bowl is the best bowling alley in contra costa county. Anyone and everyone should bowl at Clayton. All other bowling centers are mis managed and they lack quality lane surfaces.

It’s Past the time that you can just simply be indifferent to your customers(patrons)needs as well as their equipment. We pay high prices, top dollar, for equipment purchased from your inhouse bowling supply store. It’s when not if the ball is trapped within your bowling return system; so then why not turn off the motors more quickly to stop the over gringing to our ball’s cover. Yes, your store’s people can grind more off to make it work or look somewhat undamaged. It is still damaged, and smaller though therefore re-acts different on the lanes.

This place is a dump, no questions asked.

Comment Date: 9/17/2009 Name: Once a week League Bowler
Well, I am frustrated over having paid premium money for a new bowling ball at your in house pro shop, it worked fine. The what is the frustration, after a nite of bowling on your lane I had to have three hole drilled deeper and filled to remove the holes your equipment put in it. Why? Get the loose nails or spikes out of the gutters, lanes, and pin decks. It is not a joke my sence of humor is gone.

Comment Date: 7/1/2009 Name: Daily Bowler
I bowled this time at Clayton Valley Bowl, as any others have commented at the bowling center, the ball after going down the lane whether on the pin deck or the gutters returns with wide scratch on the balls. It may or may not be in the ball’s tracks. why do they not maintain the lanes and/or their equipment? These ball’s cost the bowlers hundreds of dollars; Hello, Clayton Valley Owner.

Comment Date: 5/29/2009 Name: Hello League Bowler
HI; lets see, how we the customer looks at the new lane surfaces that Clayton has installed into their establishment. Well there great and getting better, opps the pin deck’s walls that are along the gutters are worn out therefore little bounce of the pins. So we can live with this with the exception of the nail, screws and chipped wood fragments are putting scratchs, hole and chip into our ball’s coverstocks. Wake up it is your fault not the bowler, fix it. Oh yes the proshop can fix the ball – patch it. It will still react differently forever. When we pay $227.00 dollars for a ball at your pro shop and your loose fragments at the pin deck walls and gutters score it, we feel violated twice. How you say; well the scratch or chip is number one and your in-difference is number two violation.

Comment Date: 4/3/2009 Name: Rich – Out of Area Match Club Player
The New lanes have failed, you need to refasten the gutters. When Our ball slip into the gutter just before the pin deck the gutter comes up as the ball ride on it and is then throw up against the metal hardware. Great another destroyed ball. PS. What are the white dots all over the ball? My cleaner will not remove them all the way.

It included one 300 for a 850+ for three games; sorry I do not remember the exact score. Go To Clayton Valley Bowl for Bowling Thrills of a life time.

Today is a beautiful day indeed, I bowled at Clayton Valley on their new Lanes. Yes, the wood lanes are almost gone; twelve new lanes are ready for our enjoyment. There will be 6 more every two day! The ball rolls more consistently than on anyother lane in the area, I know; I bowled my first 800 plus series on them. You should have seen us seniors bowl; we were young again. The bowling exitement is at Clayton, join Us

I am a match club Bowler; I appologize for the issue you discussed in your writing. Yes, we as traveling bowlers expect and weight service at other establishment as we travel in Northern California. I again appologize, I find the service for the establishment, and the people and the free food the best at Clayton Valley Bowl. The worst in the circuit is Petaluma, sorry.

The gentleman who works the desk on Sundays is a joke. Coming from someone who also works a bowl, he was rude and unattentive to me. All the intercoms were turned off cause what the desk man said was because the kids at the parties love to play with them. I was on lanes 5-6 and had to walk to the desk twice for breakdowns and got an attitude each time.. Like I said I work a bowl and know the pressures but the customer always needs attention no matter what. Thank God I only bowl there once a year..

First: Thank You Clayton Valley Bowl; Now, My wife has been struggling to attain her average on the lanes. This includes our trip to Reno. So She approached your pro (Steve Valiente) for a lesson or guidence. He was superb, her game is now back on track with a higher average by 30 pins this week.

Hey clayton Valley’s Pro has a little league going weekly at 1:00 Every Tuesday. It is a just show up league – on show on pay. Pay: it is only Nine dollars for three games with friends. Additionally; there is a small pot of gold on each line played, a small one. Again, all just $9.00 OH Ys, after 5 frames we match high and low for more fun; therefore two winners per line. One dollar play; the fourth lineage is free and a bigger ($1 PER PLAYER) pot of gold, winner take all.

The Oil has changed again; It is really Wet (slick) Oil the lanes are quite oily. My new ball as well as the older ones work better; Less bowler stress. Steve’s Pro Shop, thank you for your insight into my flawed release. Think; freeze at the line with arm up and out to 1:00 PM – – – Movement bring pin action down.

Have taken to bowling at the Clayton Valley bowl lately and really like the lanes Although I dont bowl in a league yet, I was watching the bowling on Monday nights and the Girls In the Gutter team seems too be having so much fun maybe we all should give league bowling a try.

Comment Date: 11/27/2006 Name: Frequent Patron
Management seems to be unorganized and unconcerned with customers that bowl here frequently, non league. The lanes are not cleaned and oiled frequently for non league bowlers; it seems they just want large groups and kids to bowl here. We pay a premium price per game so why not invest in a little oil and labor efforts for us.

Seniors, over fifty, come to Clayton Vally Bowl and bowl in a relaxed Happening on Tuesday at 1:15 everyweek. Just a great get together to practice league style at a discounted rate and with very friendly Contra Costa County Seniors. No set teams, each week participants are mixed up and new teams are formed for a day of teaming/bowling.

We have a new member bowling with us at Clayton Valley Bowl, He (A Thorn)hasn’t bowled for over ten Years; plus he wanted to play down the lanes as he used to with a Rubber Ball. Steve took him aside and instructed him on the new ways to bowl. The Thorn with a 135 average is now above 190 and getting well past the 200 at times. Great effort thanks to steve Clayton Valley’s Pro.

HI Clayton Valley Bowlers, I have had my first 600 game this week, it was just 600. I used my Lesson instruction and new ball drilled by the Clayton Valley Pro Steve Valente. I love the Morich ball you selected and drilled for me. It beat Ebonite’s One that you also drilled.

The Tuesday’s senior League is getting larger with several 300 bowlers and a senior person that opened the Clayton Valley Bowl years ago. A few have several multiple 300 games too. What is the best?; it is not the 300 games, Well then it is the togetherness that leads to a great time bowling at Clayton Valley Bowl.

I am the only person that I know of that has shot 2 perfect “300” games in one single league that is held at Clayton Valley Bowl on Friday night. Nobody has ever done it except me and to that, I am in the record for that. Let’s see if any body can top that.

I have joined two leagues at Clayton Valley this year; the people at the lanes have been great; a great plus is my average has gone up over 24 pins with occasionally series over 600. PS, I was a up and down 150 average.

I enjoy the lanes on Medium Plus oil, with some carrydown – due to I usually bowl after leagues. I am there to bowl, at Clayton Valley’s discounted evening prices. The pro shop owner Steve, is second to none. I’m constantly bothering him with questions, and he constantly has an answer that I can understand and make sense of. Fixed my span, and has helped me with my game.

This is a good bowling center to bowl at. The owner have just added a new computer system to score your games. The Pro is a very nice guy. He backs up what he sells and sells you what you need not what is on a shelf. If something is wrong he will fix it for free.

I have just learned to slide; now I don’t trip or look unbalanced at my release. Steve, Clayton valley’s Pro during my lesson improved my game greatly, smoothed approach with it ending in a skating motion instead of a firm planted fourth step. I now slide and hit the target.

Comment Date: 10/15/2005 Name: Old Skool
Really nice staff + they have a special smoking room that offers you a view of the lanes. Easy to score here since the pins are very light.

Comment Date: 10/4/2005 Name: New Finger Tip Bowler
I had Clayton Valley’s Pro shop owner and Instructor re-drill my ball for fingertip bowling; it required new specifications of my hand to accommociate fingertip style. He placed a thumb slug and redrilled for me to handle the weight comfortably and learn the proper form. When I am comfortable with my new style of release and timing, then he will will continue to coach me and recommend what type of ball and weight would benefit me. Thank You Steve; small investment to improve my bowling score.

Clayton Valley Bowl is a family type bowl; Lots of kids, lots of seniors, and lots of bowlers with happy faces. But mostly it’s fun place to be. The counter persons are cool and the pro will walk down into the lanes and discuss your bowling experience.

We love this place. My 11 year old has just started bowling and I find it to be a nice place to just “hang out”. She saves her allowance to play with the arcade games afterwards, and I can bring my laptop and sit in the lobby with a diet coke and get some work done while she bowls with her friends. It’s not overcrowded – at least at the times we’ve gone, and I enjoy seeing all ages in there – from little kids pushing their ball down the alley to the senior groups who come. And with the “special lights and music bowling” times, there is a special attraction for the young people. This is old-fashioned family fun at it’s best.

It is amazing to me to see the low ratings of different centers in the Contra Costa County. Clayton Valley is the best center for league bowling of which I am member. I imagine that those person posting ratings that are lower than ratings of Clayton Valley Bowl are League and non-league players that have had poor experiences. Clayton Valley’s service is the best around, the scoring is the best, and the staff is very friendly and courteous. Don’t miss your chance bowl at Clayton Valley.

Learning the art of ball selection gains great advantage in improved skills. Therefore, if ball selection is limited to the internet; then no advantage is gained. Look to a pro-shop; seek the advice of an expert (Steve at Clayton Valley). When compared to the $200 plus cost for bowling balls. It is a small price to pay. The savings on the internet is not as quoted; A pro-shop gives advice on ball selection, drilling requirements as to your skill Level and lane conditions, and a lesson that insures knowledge of balls actions in adjusting to your skill; as well as a warranty. This is worth more than the few dollars gained in a internet purchase.

Thank You Clayton Valley bowl. I have been at my average for several months, now. Therefore, I felt it was time to make a ball adjustment. Steve sold me a great ball but I had concern about it’s weight after purchase. Prior to drilling it; steve called me at home and suggested that he had concerns that it was to heavy; so we made a weight adjustment, it is great to have a bowling pro in step with the customer. It has improved my game over 20 pins.

Hi, yes Clayton Valley has as noted older equipment as does Diablo Lanes, Pacheco Lane, and Danville lanes. Others have only refaced and do not maintain their equipment as well as Clayton Valley. As others have said, the staff is great and provide the best service available today anywhere. Remember old, clean, and maintained is better than redecorated and broken.

Steve, Thank You for your time, patience, and bowling lesson program. I again, enjoyed your lesson, second lesson. My first lesson has increased my score by 23 points this year. The second lesson, has shown me how to better understand and control my ball in changing lane conditions. Yes, positioning yourself for the shot whether a strike or spare with relaxed movements is the name of the game.

Okay. I really do not agree with anyone who says the lanes are good at Clayton Valley Bowl. Probably the oldest pair of lanes in the bay area. Take a good look at some of those lanes. Look near the foul line. I have seen what looks like beeswax in place of where wood used to be, but splintered away. The old scoring machines don’t bother me. Neither do pinsetters. The lanes are what I have a problem with. Price is good, but they can’t really make it any higher in my opinion. They do cater nicely to kids there.

While in Concord last Month, I had the good chance to wander upon Clayton Valley Lanes. Nice place, reasonable prices. Had a good conversation with the center’s Pro(Steve)and found the lanes to my liking. Basically clean bar, snackbar, restrooms and bowling area. Posted specials and room for parties. Nice shot, not too much oil. Overall a 4 out of 5.

I think Clayton Valley Bowl is one of the best bowling centers around. Yeah it may not have the state of the art scoring systems that show how fast you’re throwing the ball and all the cool graphics like the new centers but it doesn’t need all that. The lanes and the people who bowl there make up for that. Our Bowling league has bowled there for two years now; it has been fun, the food, arcade and Bar are great. Everyone should come down to Clayton Valley Bowl and check out this great bowling alley.

Thank you Clayton Valley Bowl, your Pro, Steve Valiente assisted me in my purchase of a finger hold type with a flip action. He gave me a lot of time to get used to the ball at the time of purchase. The best part is he watches me use it when I practice and gives me his personal attention on my stance and release.

Hi, Clayton Valley Bowl is a great place to bowl and their prices are quite reasonable. In fact the lowest in the East Bay. They have new lighting as well as new pins. The lanes are consistent with their oil pattern that is applied with a new oiling machine, twice daily.
The Pro, Steve, is alway available to assist in new ball selections, upgrading pre-purchased equipment, and on the spot lessons that are the most reasonable priced in the area. Steve’s knowledge in selection and drilling of balls is superior to anyone I have come across in the Bay Area.

Decided to come here to save a few bucks over the higher priced other alley. Big mistake. I got what I paid for. Please update your equipment so it will work, clean the place up, and charge a little more.

Not snobby or high priced, down home good fun. Could use new pinsetters. My family enjoys the nostalgic atmosphere and the easygoing staff. Very family oriented.
