The only good thing about this place was the beautiful Jacaranda tree that had been there for 40 years. It was one of the most beautiful trees in the city. I’d see it every day when I exited the 91 freeway at Lemon and Harbor.
Well, they cut it down and now the place is truly a dump.
What a waste. They know the cost of everything… but the value of nothing.
Find another place to bowl. They are ghetto now.

I bowled here, when it was under the Active West Name, Ill tell you then, it was better. it was like being among family. Then AMF came in changed the staff. But long story short, its still a good center, but not one I want to drive 40 miles too.

Carter Bowl used to have some real style to it. Then AMF came in, and like all the other bowling alleys they’ve ruined, they gave this place the same treatment.
Not only that, but its overpriced, even if you buy the family pack.
The best thing about the place is the pro shop. Those guys know their stuff and are very professional and courteous.

i bowl in a league at carter wed nights and they just put in new scoring systems which are cool but they need help the machines are worthess the last 4 weeks we had a brake down and the pins are older than dirt and i come all the way from san bernardino to bowl at carter i wont be doing it again until they fix the machines and get some new pins other than thats the centers not bad the shot is a bit tough but i like that im averaging 217 there but i wouldnt suggest open play there unless your a league bowler cuz i think its like 5.50 a game which is insane if your a league bowler its 2.50 i believe anyway the centers not bad and the staff well is ok but if they can get the pinsteers to actually work then that would help.

I hear that Carter Bowl is closing. Is this true…if so, when and what will be replacing it on the lot?

Nothing works, foul lights, scores, machines, and no fixes anything.

It’s an AMF center. If you’re not bowling a league there or have a lot of money. Don’t bother.

I used to work for Carter Bowl back in 98′ and it was one of the coolest jobs I’ve had in a long time before that….

I bowl here every other day for 0 and 1st period For Sunny Hills HS. Their lanes sometimes act up, “180 on 29”. One of their 9lb Medium sized bowling balls has a chip around the thumb hole. And it hurts! Prices are outrageous, unless you attend late night bowling on Fridays and Saturdays. Great Bar. Greater Arcade!
