solid wood is not true Chinese checkers is a great game for tenhicag strategic thinking. I ordered this one for our family thinking that solid wood would be a pleasant tactile experience. I don’t really like plastic. Imagine my disappointment when I find, yes, a solid wood playing board, but a jumble of cheap little plastic checkers. Brightly colored, yes. Wood, no. Ick. I had a version that used marbles when I was a kid and I may try to find some marbles to use with this board. As for durability, the board will last forever, but the pieces didn’t come with a bag (bring your own Ziploc) and the box is very cheap and will fall apart after a few uses, making it necessary to figure out a way to keep the pieces with the board. I thought we were getting a good value when I read the description, but I recommend looking a little further for a higher quality product.

Its time to start putting money into your center or close your doors. The place has gone down hill chairs and barstools need to be replaced. You need to update your restrooms, bowlers area just look at the tile floor.

whoever john is might be an idiot cuz if you look at the brunswick website it is a new lane surface brunswick is using and the person behind the counter. {Deleted – Godwin’s Law Violation} LOL

I used to to bowl at Oak Tree, then had to quit for personal reasons. In the nine plus years of bowling at Oak Tree, I had NEVER had a problem with the staff or the service. I have since returned and found that in the five years since my bowling there, they have improved the lanes, and most of the staff that was there was still there. In my opinion, this is a great house to bowl in, and the proof is in the longevity of its employees and its league participants. I don’t know what experiences these others have had, but it has not ever been negative for me.

lane broke down too many times and i was to blame. guess i was bowling wrong…tell me how?

Comment Date: 4/3/2009 Name: Jonathon
I have tried the new lanes. Not sure if there better or not. One thing for sure. the management and help still needs a lot of work. I going back ti Chapparal Lanes, San Dimas or Upland Bowl. O wo;; not bowl any more tournaments or leagues there.

“The Best Synthetic Lanes” huh? We’ll see when the approaches start to delaminate. Are they as good as the Brunswick masking units that collapsed during a tournament?

i have read in the bowling news that you are upgrading the lanes. Does this mean that you have made a management change too.

This center has gone down hill for many months. I hear the center is for sale. They should contact the owner of Chaparral Lanes. This center has only improved since they purchased center. They may be interested in purchasing or running Oak Tree.

OMG! never again. I stongly recomend Chaparral up the freeway or one of the many Brunswick alleys around. Enough said

This center has definitely improved. I have been year MANY times before. The service has definitely gotten a lot better. Everytime I go, it is packed. Compared to many other alleys I’ve been to, this is a lot nicer. I mean, I have never really liked their oily lanes, but as a REAL Bowler, you adjust. I mean I bowled a 191 and 216 in the two games I played last night.
Honestly, a bad crowd can be anywhere. It’s one of the few past times where you can actually drink and still be allowed to hurl a foriegn object without getting in trouble. Besides, most of those people are their late at night. So if you want to avoid them, try to get there while the sun is out.
Bottom line, IT’S BOWLING! Just have fun and don’t fuss about the other crap so much!

Employee need to have better customer skills.

Oak Tree Lanes have changed since the new owners have taken over. The center is dirty, the desk staff is not friendly. I have bowl all the bowling centers in San Gabriel Valley and Oak Tree needs some work before I will be back.

Comment Date: 4/30/2008 Name: bobby
the center is run down, lighting is horrible, people in the center are rude, dirty, worst atmosphere, just horrible service, emplyees smoking smelly and just not a good crowd

Comment Date: 11/13/2007 Name: Tony
Worst bowling alley I have been to in years. The lanes are just horrible and so is the service. The only good thing about the bowling alley is that they have updated score screens and televisions when you bowl. Even the freaking arcade s*cks here. This place just s*cks overall.

I just moved 5 min. from Oak Tree Lanes and I have bowled in leagues for 15 years and the lanes are bad. Next season I will go back to a Brunswick House and drive out for better lanes and service.
