apparantly the big boys in corporate have read some of these articles. Since my last post they have installed 2 new air conditioning units, painted the interior, and put in a new oil machine. It seems they have gotten rid of some sour apple staff as well finally..Lol the management has not changed since my last post either. Still the same GM and Assistant manager which is different for this center. There is a clear focus on getting back some of the leagues they have lost over the past 5 years and the Manager says he will do anything to get the leagues back and guarantees they will not be disappointed. There was one night where we had a problem with our food not being brought out in a reasonable amount of time. He gave us our money back for the food AND GAVE US OUR MONEY BACK FOR OUR LEAGUE LINEAGE!!!! as form of apology for the service that was not top notch that night!! we have not had a single problem since then. The manager really seems committed to taking care of us league bowlers and it is a nice change. I look forward to bowling every week.

The center is making small improvements. Unfortunately they are not as fast as they need to be made to retain some of the bowlers. The building is old. The a/c does not work very well, the oil machine is old and inconsistent. The problem is that a lot of the work it needs is classified as a capital expenditure. Which means the center can only make strong suggestions on what it needs. The work being completed ie oil machine, air conditioning etc is being controlled by the powers in an office in another state. There are people who work here that care very much about the center and the bowlers and unfortunately it does not look that way because things don’t get completed. We encourage you to start calling the corporate office and vent to them because the employees who work there on a daily basis are doing EVERYTHING they possibly can to improve the center. The major issues need addressed and they need addresses now. So maybe somebody out there with the corporate Guru’s will see this page and come spend a week there to see what we have to go through. Makes us look very bad in the eyes of our bowlers when we cannot get them to spend the money to fix it up a little bit.

Friendly Hills lanes is currently under new management. yes again. at least this management understands how to run a bowling center. Yes as stated below it is an old center and does have jitters from time to time. the improvements have happened at a slow pace most likely due to the constant turnover in management. They are expecting a new oil machine and a couple new a/c units very shortly. the center is also being painted to give it a more clean look. This place used to be wall to wall with league bowlers and the new managers have made it clear that they will do whatever it takes to get the bowlers back.

The alley is pretty much what the non favoring comments have been by the others on line , but is still a convinient place. With some work this wuold be a nice location ,so please take these responses for constuctive critizism. The snack bar needs more help. Good luck I hope it prospers.

This place has major lane issues .Lanes are always breaking down and balls or always getting damaged.I mean how hard is it to repair a problem when its the same lane and same problem .Hey if something is broken fix it……

I love this place, I used to bowl at friendly Hills all the time. Only good things come out of my mouth, I just moved a few months ago and checked out what they had in upland, trust me without a doubt friendly hills blew them away.
I love staff from FHL i never had a problem, I even find myself driving from the inland empire to whitttier just to bowl at this facility. So with out a doubt I think the customer service is great, the lanes are clean, machines work.
keep up the good job!!

It may be old, but when you bowl its not about all the extras. Its about the lanes, not the cafe

It’s an OLD place. Needs updating, needs cafe staff, needs ALOT of work. It’s for families, leagues and gives teenagers a place to hang out. Although, when children are around the teenagers really need to watch what they say around young kids. We are all there to have fun! Just hope they get more staff that are more attentive to customers needs. They are slow to comply.

Our family bowls at AMF occasionally. Although it is a fun place, it is not clean. I reported an oil spill (near the lanes) twice before it was taken care of. Once the staff wiped the spill, the floor was still too slippery. The pizza is great! The place smells funky. I only recommend AMF to beginners.

Come here on Monday anytime but before they close because it’s only 25 cents per game except you need to pay 5.25 for your first game.

We went to this bowling alley on a weekday and paid all the fees. We sat down on our lane and went to the monitor that was on. A couple lanes down, there were a bunch of people bowling practically free, no bowling shoes either. The monitor was not displaying anything and it looked like they were friends with the employees because they would talk to them and that the machine wasn’t resetting. It was very upsetting. This has happened on many occasions.

The bowling alley was VERY friendly when i went there, the helped me with everything i needed. And the food there may be a bit, just a little over priced, but its worth it, i really like there pizza. There staff was very friendly and may i say very sexy!If i could give them a score from 1-10, i would give them a 9.99. NICE!

i bowl there every so often, the staff are nice, not as caring though, sometimes i end up bowling next to some kids who are annoying as hell and they dont know any rules of bowling and the staff could care less. they just got new carpet and new gutters and bumpers a while back, so they’re working on it!

Just another AMF house. Disappointed. Friendly staff at Friendly is hit and miss. AMF food isn’t all that great. And the price is typical. I’d eat before or after bowling. Pro Shop operator not as knowledgable as should be.
I went there to do a make-up for my travel league and had a pair with no oil. My plastic ball was in the gutter at 30 feet. Moved twice before asking if anyone oiled. And of course they didn’t. So thanks a lot!

Older alley but has all of the basics. Friendly and helpful employees. Good evening leagues, and children friendly. Great location on Whittier Blvd. Pro shop + hair salon.

This is a class A bowling center. It’s great for beginners and pros alike. All of its employees are friendly, courteous, and helpful. People may shun it’s more “modern” look (it’s not a 50’s diner, folks), but the place has a certain appeal all on its own.
