My Grandma Margie worked here in the 60,70 and 80’s. I went by where the sign still is today on 6/7/2013.

I know that it has been a while since someone has written anything but i have just come across this now.
Yes, this was a very old bowling alley & had not changed from its old way. To you outsiders it might have been considered a dump and you may not have understood or actually really even cared about how the workers were; but to those of us who grew up and bowled there, it was home. For me personally, it was my second home. i started when i was only 8 years old in the saturday morning leagues and went thru all the way til i was 14. even after i stopped the league, i still went to go hang out and visit my old friends and even wednesday nights when my mom would bowl the adult leagues. It was truly my second home, i made so many friends and some even came very close and considered them family. When i found out about its closing, i couldnt believe it. All these great and old memories came to mind. We had a great coach who i still til this day thank for keeping up with our leagues and trying his hardest for our junior leagues to get us to fund raise money and find fun things for us to do for our state or other tournaments. I miss this place greatly & driving by it everyday on my way to work, it just makes me so sad. To Art Mochizuki for being our amazing league photographer and at one point, my highschool senior project mentor; Tammy Quaal (may she Rest In Peace) & Kathleen Pierce for trying to continue with the saturday league to try and keep it alive the last 4 years & to all the other workers like Manny, Nicki, Lynn, Bob from our pro shop & our maintenance guys who made an impact (whether it was big or small) on not only my life but others as well, Thank You! Seeing it torn down is a very hard thing to do. There were always great memories and people there. This bowling alley was there for me for 10 amazing years! R.I.P Premiere Lanes. You definitely are greatly missed!
A loyal former bowler

Ashame they had torn Premiere down. It’s now just a barren, empty piece of land. I wonder what the city/owner or whoever has in mind for the site?

Premiere is in the process of being demolished effective May 25th. The sign must be kept however, because it was marked as a historical landmark. RIP Premiere Lanes.

It is slated for demolition, according to the City web site.

Right now it’s a drill site for several local fire departments. After that I guess it will be torn down completely.

Does any one know of if someone had bought the bowling center or not?

Comment Date: 1/30/2010 Name: ?:
can someone buy this property and turn it back into another bowling center?

Comment Date: 1/29/2010 Name: Manny
I use to work there from 2003 to 2005. From what I remember the lease on the property is not up til 2014, but the buildings lease itself ended sooner that is why it closed down. The owner of the building I believe did not want to renew the lease so she let it go.

?: Is someone going to buy Premiere Lanes & turn it into a bowling center again???????? Does anyoe know what they are going to do with it?

Comment Date: 1/26/2009 Name: What I heard…
Well I heard from an ex-Premiere Lanes bowler (who I bowl w/ her grandson) is that SFS marked it as a Historical Landmark. Idk if this is true but that’s wat I heard! If it’s true then I hope for it to keep everything the way it is (but maybe replace the lanes due to the wood being so thin but replace it wood!!!) and restore the restraunt with the original coffee shop! I sure hope some1 will keep it as a bowling center

Anyone who says Premiere Lanes is a dump does not appreciate “real bowling”. Premiere was a classic bowling center and will be sorely missed. Glad I had a chance to experience Premiere while it existed. Props to Verdugo Hills Bowl.

A very sad day for this unique community rec center that made Santa Fe Springs a destination for all of us since 1959. And oh that jet-age neon sign! Premiere will truly be missed.

Premiere Lanes had some awesome old school lane-age.
The coffee shop was great too, until it turned into mexican restaurant.
I think this place holds the Southern California record for Best Sign.

This center is unfortunately now closed. Iused to bowl there since i was 5 years old for 9 years from the bumper league all the way to the scratch league. I will miss this place, the retro atmosphere, and especially the people.

When I checked out Premiere Lanes about 2 weeks ago it said it was now closed. I figured it was only a matter of time given how many other bowling alleys have closed. That’s too bad, though. This is where I got my start, in the Saturday morning junior leagues nearly 40 years ago. When I dropped by several months ago it had not changed one bit since then, other than the rather antiquated automatic scorekeepers. It still even had wooden lanes! Anyway, I’ll always have good memories of it.

This place hasn’t changed one iota since 1975. Employees don’t give a crap. Great pro shop, though.

You have the best bowling lane ever.

What a dump!!

Premiere Lanes is a very family-oriented bowling center. Its 100% regular bowling (no cosmic bowling here…) is suited for the traditional bowling purist. Premiere Lanes has an excellent youth bowling program (160+ kids)led by director Lloyd Stone. Frank Bellinder’s Pro Shop (located inside) is one of the best shops around. We highly recommend Premiere Lanes!

I have a jpg photo of Premiere Lanes that I would like to submit. Is that possible? Thank you.

We love Premiere Lanes — and we appreciate that this independent bowling center still has it’s spectacular original 1950’s neon signage! Awesome! Don’t change a thing.
