wow what is going on with this place. i cant even call in to ask about lanes with out the guy on the phone acting like im asking the secret recipe to KFC. this guy needs to chill. if you want customers you have to treat them right. ill never go to this place and will tell others that ask about it to stay away.

I have been bowling here for over a year and with the exception of two employees I have really enjoyed these lanes. The lanes are great and the staff is top nitch except for one in paticular. I was there last night and she deliberatley skipped over us to check in two other groups then when the group next to us wanted the rails up she walked up on my husband as he was getting ready to make his approach. Do we not teach our employees bowlers eticiate?

I know people love to talk dirt, but why in the world do they try to harm such a great place like Central Lanes is beyond me. I have had the pleasure of working with the staff at Central lanes for almost 2 years. Now I won’t dis Oaklawn, but I’d infinitely prefer to work for Bert. He has the best mechanics I have ever met. I have never seen any issues with the cleanliness nor machines. Sure they break occasionally, but if you were a pinsetter like these you would probally have a few issues too. People PLEASE!!! Don’t kick dirt unless you actually have personally seen the dirt you are kicking, (ie. you are effected by a broken lane or un happy with the GREAT food from the snackbar). Bert Thanks for the great time I had working for you.

I bowled at Central lanes in Hot Springs, AR. for 15 years. I moved to Bowling Green, Ky about 6 years ago.
I have bowled all over 10 states and countless centers. All centers have a hiccup from time to time. Central lanes I must say is the best center I have ever bowled at.
The Bowling center I bowl at now would be a great place for a bowling center!! Bert Please Buy it, The bowlers here need someone who cares about BOWLING. Thanks for your time in reading this, Good Luck and Good BOWLING.
P.S. I miss all the great bowler and management at Central Lanes.

I went in this weekend to bowl but they were having the state youth tournament. The staff was very nice in explaining this to our family and told us when they would have lanes for family bowling next. They even gave us a rain check to come back and bowl a free game. This is going above and beyond. Just the way friendly face of the man at the desk was enough to make us come back. Plus the way they are promoting our town to visitors bringing their kids in was the best. Hooray for someone giving the families a good clean place to enjoy themselves. We will go back and use our raincheck and keep going back.

Though the food is not the greatest at Central, the lanes and the staff make up for it. I’ve been bowling league for about 4 years now and have had the same people taking care of everything with care and enjoyment. The youth league and the coaches has only the friendliest people around. Bert also lets the high school teams all bowl for free; with 3 teams, that is pretty darn generous. The lanes are also a nice medium pattern which is fun. I like the lighting also: not too dark, not overwhelmingly bright, just perfect. You can’t go wrong at this place especially if you stay long enough to make friends with all of the staff and regulars.

have bowled here for five years. love the facility. i live in the village, and i drive all the way to hot springs just to bowl league in this house. never shot a 300 here, but have several 600 series and even a triplicate on lanes 1&2, in 2003. nice, homey facility, not too nice, not too over the top, just the place im used to. great pro shop, great owner, great staff, great lanes. the lane conditions are top notch here. i recommend a rookie bowler who considers joining a league to start here. i did, and i still cant leave. i dont even live in hot springs anymore, and i still havent left.

I went bowling at Central this weekend with some friends. We noticed that they have installed Highway 66 mini bowling lanes in the game room. We decided to try it out and had an absolute blast. After numerous games on the Highway 66 I had noticed that it cut into our regular bowling time a bit, and that I had found my newest gaming addiction. It was fast paced, challenging, and the most fun I’ve had in a gameroom in longer than I can remember. Great fun, Keep it up! 🙂

I love central lanes ive been bowling here about 5 years and cant say enough about it although i shot my first 300 at oaklawn i love central and have numerous 300s here. The people are great and caring and of course there to help you and the owner lets us bowl all our high school practise for free what more can you ask for. If your someone who likes to bowl and likes great people come on over to central.

It says everything at a Center when most of the employees have been at Central for about 10 to 30 years, including a manager for over 30 years. These folks are very special and go above and beyond what is expected at a business for us bowlers. This is group of very warm and giving people.

Great Place! Real clean and bright. Quite a number of employees — not like other places that are understaffed. Everyone was lots of help and friendly — including the customers.

Fantastic! I’m in town on business. I often spend my freetime while on business trips bowling. I can’t count the number of places I’ve bowled. The people at Central Lanes are the friendliest that I have ever seen. They went out of their way to make sure that we had a totally enjoyable expierence. This was my first trip to Hot Springs. I have been looking for a new place to take the family on vacation. Our kids LOVE to go bowling. Unlike alot of other bowling centers Central Lanes is definitly a place I’d take the kids. There was a couple there while we were bowling that had 3 kids. I was very impressed at how the staff took care of them. Great family environment. Good Job!

I bowled at Central Lanes this week with my college buddies… We’ve been on the road about a month visiting all of our friends around the country. This will be the 6th time we’ve gone bowling on the trip so far, and I have to say that I was blown away… The last few places we went in Texas had us clowning on the craptastic service and equipment… It was nice to run into people that actually seemed to care that we were having fun. I was beginnging to think that whole “southern hospitality” thing was just an urban myth… We bowled for about 4 hours and didn’t notice anybody having any troubles at all… (and I was looking for it after the nightmare we had in Dallas where we didn’t have one single game score correctly) The snack bar was quick and the food was really good, (I usually try to avoid grubbing down at the bowling alleys because the sackbar at the lanes near campus is so lame) If I lived in Hot Springs I would definitly bowl here often. Thanks for a totally fun and hassle free night… I will come back through here again, if for nothing else but to come back an bowl at Central… 🙂

Central has had the same family owners for over 46 years and I also have been a volunteer on and off for many of these years. I have actually gone behind the snack bar many times to help with the many charity tournaments and help with the soft drinks, tea and coffee; the ice has always been just perfect and not what a former mechanic is writing on this web site. Hundreds can see that ice everyday and can testify to how clean it is. About smoking, Central’s owner is seeing to adding a separate building for us smokers but said that he was told it cannot have a door that comes directly into the center. By the way, it is the Civitan Club and The Hot Springs Board of Realtors that Central Lanes assists in conducting the regional competition for the Special Olympics, not the Optimist Club. Central has helped the Optimist Club with free passes etc. but not for the Special Olympics Tournaments. Central Lanes provided the facilities at no charge for the Special Olympics Tournament which lasts for 2 days per year and has done so for the past 10 years or more. The volunteers and employees enjoy knowing they are giving to a wonderful mission. In addition… the customers, the 1st and 2nd generation of family owners, the volunteers, the employees and have been and are a real wonderful bunch of people. There are many generations of families and friends that have bowled at Central. Central Bowling Lanes & Recreation Center was one of the several businesses that were nominated in 2005 to be the Hot Springs Business of the Year from The Hot Springs Chamber Of Commerce. In 2005, the owner was voted Bowling Proprietor of the Year 2004-2005 from the Arkansas State Bowling Proprietors Association. This is just a little bit of the history about all the folks at Central.

Having sat and ate at the Centrals well air-conditioned large, well-lit, 50s type of snack bar, for over 25 years, I have been able to see everything that goes on, usually during the day. Theyve added a good seating area several years ago and when Im with my friends I sit at the table area. I have seen the state restaurant inspectors come in many times and give Central a good report. Im sure that if you ask the managers to look at their reports during day hours they would be glad to let you see one. Central is a real kid, family, and serious bowler type of place. In the last several years Central has changed a lot, the new 24 lanes with 24 bumpers; the new and largest Qubica scorers in the area, new seating, with new updates to be in place for the fall bowlers.
The owner is always on the up and ups, as well as lately giving us smokers the unpleasant truth, about the Arkansas Clean Indoor Air Act of 2006; A Bill of Act 8 that can be accessed by going online and putting what was just written in the web search. The owner tried to check and see if he could build a smoking room and he said the state would not let him. I called the state and they said that was right and that no bowling lanes even with a bar could allow smoking. The room or bar could not accessed though any door, nor have the same ventilation, air-conditioning or heating system, nor owned or licensed as the same as the lanes where there were children under 21 years of age. There are fines up to $1,000 for the owners and up to $500.00 for us the customers. Central does not have a bar with mixed drinks selling on 7 days a week like another place has.
Central Lanes has assisted the Optimist Club in conducting the regional competition for the Special Olympics. Central Lanes provided the facilities at no charge for the Special Olympics Tournament which lasts for 2 day per years and has done so for the past 10 years. I know so, I have been a volunteer. Also, Central Lanes allowed the participating schools to bring their athletes to come in and practice at no charge. Central has provided fund raisers for the Red Cross, the Potters Clay, the Senior Olympics, the United Blood Services, the Humane Society, the Volunteer Fire Departments, Teen Challenge, Childrens ranches, homes, etc. Most important, Central has provided passes to all the schools for one free game in the summer to school children since 1983. At the concept, it was approved by the Hot Springs City Police and the Garland County Sherriffs Department to enable kids, who could not possibly afford to bowl, to look forward to summer recreation with an incentive to learn a supervised sport.
Central Lanes has been in the forefront when it comes to being progressive with the game and business. The latest example is high school bowling. Central Lanes and four other men took the leap of faith to get bowling as a sanctioned high school sport. This involved furnishing the facilities at no charge to the schools, paying the coaches, and furnishing the uniforms. Central also, is one of the first bowling centers in the state to establish a scholarship for its junior bowlers. I believe that Central has always had a junior bowling league and has taught many young bowlers including those who bowl at other lanes. Again, I know, Ive been a volunteer.

well all i got to say is that everyone likes to put oaklawn lanes down cause bert couldnt handle owning that center cause he knew mike was better than he is and mike knew what had to be done . oh and also the snack bar is filthy and there is bugs in the ice machine and i know for a fact that b**** shouldnt hold a job there because he gets drunk oh and they dont need to be jealous because oaklawn lanes has better scoring than central does so stop putting oaklawn down and consider thinking the facts that oaklwan is cheaper and more friendly and tell the owner to take the article out of the paper that sais newest and most advanced scoring in hot springs because oaklawn has the newest scoring. oh and when there is a problem it isnt handles quickly at all it takes forever.

I took a tour of the back of this center lately during a rainy day and the area behind the pinsetters were well lit, dry and clean; everything looked in it’s place. The mechanics are the best guys Central has ever had, and when there are pinsetter problems, they get them fixed. I do know that a few years ago there were problems with a particular person that was lazy, was caught sleeping on the job, he bothered young girls on the lanes, and others things. He was reported to have said he had been fired and was real angry. It sounds as if he’s still angry after many years. He sounds like he has been talking about himself with someone to help him become libelous. He now works at another bowling place with a bar in town. The head mechanic there at that bowling place is a great guy — too bad he has a pinchaser like that working for him. I’ve been to the other bowling places in this area as well as in other bowling lanes in other states. Nothing compares to these good people that work here at Central. If there is a problem with someone, or something, the owners fix it quick enough.

If you are looking for a place to hold a birthday party for your children, I highly recommend Central Lanes.
I have had two parties there and my son had a blast. All the children and parents were able to bowl and then enjoy some cake.
The owners are very kind and know many of the customers by name.

I have worked in this center for 11 years.I won’t say there are never any problems with our machines, after all they are machines. However,I take pride in working for an employer who makes sure “problems” are fixed as quickly as possible. At Central Lanes our customers are very important to us.Any problem brought to our attention is always taken seriously and taken care of.Our Snack Bar is very clean and food is ordered and rotated weekly. Our mechanics are knowledgeable and hard working. We have security cameras inside and outside as well as security guards on some nights to assure the safety of our customers. We are not a bowling ALLEY of years past.We are a bowling CENTER who cares about our community.

I have grown up in Hot Springs and there is not a finer place to take the family. Central Lanes has a great atmosphere run by good, Christian people. The employees are courteous, the food is great and the bowling center is kept clean. My son bowls and he enjoys it very much. I don’t let him go anywhere that I didn’t think would be a great place for children. Thank you Central Lanes for providing a fun, family atmosphere.

Central is the best bowling center I have ever been to! The lanes are great and so are the people. The lanes are in excellent condition. I have been bowling for years and central lanes will always be the best! If you go to Oaklawn lanes you are wasting your money!

I have worked at this center before and know for a fact that the owner would not let these things happen. Or at least until he found out. This was one of the best jobs I ever had and I would still be there if I had not found a way to improve myself. I have never known anyone to be fired from Central Lanes unless they are really not doing the job they were hired for. I would recommend Central Lanes as the place to take your family any time to bowl.

The Central Bowling Lanes is a very fun place. My whole family is always up there and my dad use to work there. My sisters and I are always at bowl zone there is always an off duty cop watching us and there has never been any problems. The snack bar is great and real friendly. The people at the register are like a second family there. The game room is awesome as well my three year old sister loves the game room as well. The bathrooms are always clean and smelling good. I highly recommend the Central Bowling Lanes for family, friends, and great parties.

When I read the comments about Central Lanes I was shocked. This bowling center has got to be one of the best I have ever visited, and I have been to a lot of centers around the country. The staff was very friendly and made every attempt to make my stay a pleasure. The lane conditions were great even after a large day league had been bowling. Food was fantastic in the snackbar. Whoever found problems should look for their own problems.

I have frequented Central almost every weekend for 20 yrs. and could not believe the comments I saw about security and underage drinking. When I am there on weekends, there is always an off duty county policeman there, and have never seen or heard of any major incidences. There are also security cameras all around.
The person who supposedly observed all this has mistaken for another bowling center or needs new glasses.

We recently visited Hot Springs Arkansas where everyone was friendly, but one place particularly stuck out, and that was Central Bowling Lanes, where the visit from the front counter, to the lanes, and the snack bar was very pleasant.
We are not used to this kind of customer service where we are from, which made the several games we bowled very enjoyable.
The bowling lanes near our home treat us like we don’t exist. This was very refreshing and we will definitely return.

I have been going to Central since I was a kid and they are just as friendly and helpful as they always have been. Our family sometimes goes at different times, mornings, afternoons or nights so we know a lot about this place. We take advantage of some of the specials. They put in big computer monitor animations that our kids just love and operate better than us. They have put in new lanes, carpeting and snackbar changes and have pizza and new snackbar seating areas for our group. The mechanics on the lanes are better than ever and they clean and oil them once or twice every day. There are security cameras and a policeman there on some week nights and weekend nights. The bowling areas are smoke free and they also have a smoke filter system that works better than it did several years ago. Central is clean, fun and safe as it always has been. This is a great fun place for our family!

We visit this center frequently and was very surprised to read some of these comments. The lanes are in excellent condition and the equipment is always working well. As for the Bowl Zone nights they ALWAYS have security as well as security cameras around the parking lot. This IS where to take your family.

Comment Date: 11/6/2005 Name: Quit to bowling here
I quit bowling here due to a number of issues:
1. They stopped performing maintenance on the lanes and equipment long ago. Breakdowns are the norm.
2. Employees are rude to non-regulars. If you are not in their little family, why are you here.
3. Food has made a number of people I know sick. Cleanliness is not a priority.

Hello I am from Texas and I went to the bowling lanes to have a little fun with my two nieces. The bathrooms smell and need cleaning. The people at the front desk are not friendly to me. The snack bar area has a weird smell. If you want more customers please imporove these problems! Thanks, John

In reply to Anonymous 1/20/04, I know the man who owns the place & the people who work there. It’s a very clean place & those who work there are VERY GOOD people who help my son with his bowling when needed. I can’t think of a better place to take my son to have fun, because I know they are watching him as well as I’m watching.

Comment Date: 1/20/2004 Name: Anonymous
Their lanes are constantly breaking down during games and it takes quite a long time for them to be repaired. Front desk employees are rude and oafish. Snack bar has a mildewy smell, which should probably be looked into by the Health Department. During Friday and Saturday night Bowlzones, there is a lot of underage drinking going on, and very little security to prevent this and other problems. Definitely not a place I would take my children.
