We had a terrible time there. The “owner” started yelling at me because my 9-10 year old boys were using a “kids” ball. She showed a total lack of class and unprofessional behavior and was just a big ol’ jerk!
In addition, the place is filled with smoke. After we left we all smelled like we had been at a bar for four hours. Not a family friendly place on the weekends. It’s a shame – I can remember when they opened many years ago. It was really nice — now it’s just a dump!
If you want to go bowling — drive to Birmingham.

Hey, what do you think about who will win the Champions League?

To whom it concerns (you know who you are). Paradise has made alot of improvements (still have alot to fix). The Mgr. (Mrs. Judy) does what she can with what she has. They are working on fixing things that need fixing. Its a fun atmosphere to have birthday parties. There is a different bartender and different people working in the snack bar. Come out and give it another try.

I have to admit. I was there today. The places is going down hill badly. Use to be where the bathrooms were the only bad bad spots. But it wasn’t fun at all today. And it was for a darn birthday party.LOL. But I do say, it may be going down hill. But it still right up my alley, so to speak. I finding nothing OUT OF THE WAY about it honestly. But I grew up dirt poor, where were went out back and sat up 3L bottles with sand in them, and use whatever we had as balls. I been around smoking, drink, everything else my whole, like. So nothing in there bothers me. But I mean the only thing they have “updated” in the last 15 years is the gaming room, it went from gaming, to pool, to pool and gaming. And now of course darts. Which is exactly what keeps that play alive now adays. For someones comment about dart players going somewhere else like the Goose, and whatnot. The problem is the lane is the only place LEFT. 90% of bars and whatnots don’t have leagues or tournments anymore. If they do you are lucky to get 5 dart players in there at any one given time. Not too long ago few years, the dart world exploded with a bunch of punk kids, thinking they know everything, and as if they OWNED the places. It ran the good older, whatever players away fast. The moment they made a dart room at the lanes, they started back there again. It is about the ONLY place you can go to throw darts anymore without 1000 things of drama over the darts. I mean today, though they did have hot dogs, chips, and drinks for birthday parties, including napkins, condiments, plates, etc etc. So it is not TOTALLY crap. They have their moments. I guess just like everything else in Etowah County, whom you know makes such a difference. Trust me. I get totally different service as a bowler or person at a birthday party, then I do as a vistor watching darts 🙂 To say the least. To me it seems so much more laid back, don’t have to worry about acting the wrong way, fit right in, don’t have to worry about what I say, act etc etc. It just like being in the backwoods, bowling with 3L bottle again 🙂 The place just needs fixing up some. It does need that for safety reason. I mean really. But to be honest. Yall think the lane is bad, I just got back from Playstation in Trussville, we went after the birthday party for another party. Anyways, it was a private party. Game room there, find, but out of probably 75 games, maybe 20 of them actually worked. umm, let’s see. The skating rink area, not to bad, nothing seemed wrong with it at all. But the laser tag, OMG! Nobody out there to control the line, people breaking line, we waited over an hour just to play ONCE. Nobody controling it really. I mean they had the same lady all night long, ONE PERSON in the whole thing. She was manning the laser tag INSIDE, not the lines too, manning the skating rink part, with like skates, music, and all that stuff, and she was also manning the redeeming ticket part too. There was well over 150 KIDS there, plus their siblings and parents, and they had ONE person manning it all. It was terrible. I mean don’t get me wrong place was good, but couldn’t have been ALOT better. So when you think one place is so bad like the lanes, try going other places even in the big cities, they may keep their buildings up better, but the service and repairs are no different than anywhere else. So many cut backs these days, it is just part of it. So stop complaining and enjoy what you can while you can. Nothing and nobody is perfect. Just work with what you got.We don’t have a whole heck of alot around here,so. And after all yall complaining about service, building, etc etc. It could be worse right? I mean talking about good clean fun. I remember the times when the skating rink was SUPPOST to be clean family fun too. If I can recall back, people were actually SHOT there once, and got so bad they had to have not a rent o cop but actual COPS/POLICE in there every Friday and Saturday night to keep the peace down. So see the lanes is not very much different than anywhere else here in the area 🙂 they all have pros and cons to them. but I mean that building is falling apart, being honest. Think after all the money you have to pay to get in there like the late night bowls, they could fix it up a little. Just saying nope it ain’t perfect, but it is doable 🙂 And yeah everyone go ahead, rip me a new one. Make fun of my writing skills and my spelling, don’t hurt me none. After all that says more about you than it does me 🙂

We have found the Center to be a pleasant experience and the people running the place to be friendly and accomodating. We go there regularly and have enjoyed ourselves each time.

Well, Mr. no name. You need to understand that there is always one more option. That is to voice my opinion, or as some may call it, complain. This does one of two things. One, the managers and or owners will fix the situation. or two, people will take heed to the issues and take their business elsewhere. Which in turn will put the place of business out of BUSINESS.

Comment Date: 1/12/2010 Name: Anonymous
I did try to buy the center, However we could not come to a dollar amount that we could agree on. The current owners think that is worth a bunch more that it is.

Comment Date: 1/8/2010 Name: my name
If you don’t like how the place is being run I present you with four options: 1. Buy the place and make all the changes your heart desires. 2. Build your own bowling center. 3. Don’t go back. 4. Keep bowling there. As you can plainly see, none of the options involve complaining. You should be thankful for having a place to bowl.

My sister and I take our kids (ages 2-14) and we have a great time. I haven’t seen it nasty or dirty. The people working there are always nice to us and the kids. Is there a bar? Haven’t seen it I guess. Birthday parties are always good there. We really enjoy going.

We went to Paradise Lanes a few weeks ago. We had a wonderful time there. Yes it needs a little help here and there but we had fun. The lady at the counter needs to cheer up though! Nowhere is perfect and it takes money to fix things up. I guess go elsewhere if you do not like it. 🙂

It has been 9 years that I have been in Paradise Lanes. I must say, every thing that I have been told about this “alley” is true. I can not believe how run down and nasty it was, This center was a very nice place when I left it, it now looks like a 50 year old building with no maintenance on it. We went to bowl, walked in, looked around about 15 minutes, no one at front counter, I could hear them in the rear of snack bar, walked in the back of the machines ( yes, i know that i was not suppose to be there ), but I wanted to find anybody to put us on a lane. Never did, left without seeing anyone, felt that I need to wash after being in there for 30 minutes or so. So sad to see such a good building go to waste

Paradise lanes is full of drama… it smells bad, the lanes s*ck, the staff is rude and could care less what goes on… half the time they are drunk and in each others laps doing whatever in front of customers. The food is nasty and half the time you find connies hair or finger nails in it..Sherry is one of the meanest person ever and they let her talk to the customers however she wants to.. the manager is never doing her job. she is always in the bar with some bald headed guy.linda makes the worst drinks and is rude to people when they come to the window to order.the roof leaks everytime it rains.

Comment Date: 10/17/2007 Name: I HATE DART MEN
Dartman, what has happened to all the other dart places that you went to. Should I name them, thats all that can be done, because they are all gone, Golden Goose, Shoot and Slice, Fred and Gene,s, and many more, I guess you thought you could keep them open to, {deleted}

Comment Date: 9/24/2007 Name: The mechanic
Everything starts going down the tubes when bowling centers dont allow their maintenance department staff to do the job in which they were hired to do. It takes $$$$ and someone who knows what they are doing to operate a bowling center correctly. You had a damn good mechanic at one time but he had to go on to bigger and better things. Anyone remember when all 30 lanes were working? I do. Anyone remember his name?? I do.

Comment Date: 9/19/2007 Name: dartman
I think Paradise lanes is alright..The dart crowd is gonna keep your place open longer anyways…Whats up with the dart-dissin?..Its as much a leisure sport as bowling..It doesn’t smell bad to anyone I talk too..Hey people got smelly feet in Rainbow City / Gadsden I guess, go shower or something. What drunks you have there are probably dart players, we know how to roll.

It sounds like there is a lot of fighting going on in this center. What kind of family atmosphere is this? Sounds like these bowlers stay in the bar more than they bowl I bowled Guntersville for years and it was a nice clean place I bowl Boaz now. They have made a lot of improvements here and seem like they care about their place and bowlers. You guys need to grow up.Have a bowl-a-thon and make some money to improve your place if it is that bad

Diamond, how about all that water from todays rain, 5 lanes with water on them and the front and back flooded.

Comment Date: 7/23/2007 Name: Anonymous
Youuuu know who it is, don,t act ;ile you don,t

Comment Date: 7/14/2007 Name: DIAMONDDAVE
Well Mr.Anonymous you show no true sign of courage if you call someone out you need to leave your name so they can find you or do you not have the b*lls to back it up like I said before if you dont like it leave it as far as calling me out I never back down to a challenge when I know who it comes from I have proven myself over the years Im not just a house bowler I bowl all over the country and have many titles what do you have no guts I would still be proud to own Paradise sure it needs some work but what place doesnt you can find something wrong with every center in the world but its up to you if you play there or not I myself would feel stupid if I keep playing somewhere I hate so think about that then go thank the folks at Paradise lanes for trying to do the best they can with what they have to work with!!!!

Comment Date: 7/12/2007 Name: Anonymous
Dave, you must be blind, this center is a dump, i to have been here from the first day it opened, yes Jim Maxey had a good idea and wanted a nice clean center, he had a very good operation and great guys in place to be sure it was handled correctly. On the other hand the leaches, Bill Trip and Hardin have never had the centers best wishes in mind, if they did, the roof would have been repaired years ago so that it does not leak every time it rains, I have been in the building when you would hve to go out side to cool off because the a/c does not work. If the owners gave a hoot they would repair the a/c, I know that you are going to point out about the two new a/c units, however one of the is for the new dart room and the othe was to feed the bar when the darts were in there. Go open up the party room door and look at it, would you have a party there. You can,t tell me anything about the center I don,t know, because you see, I am on the inside and see all. We have the worst staff of any bowling center around, it,s a joke, just a big joke. Do not even try to tell me how great it is to be here, this is just a big hole with a giant sucking sound as it goes down the drain.

Comment Date: 7/12/2007 Name: Anonymous
Diamond, you want to go a $100.00 a ball, you could not beat me then, can,t do it now. And the shot does matter so I don,t have to adjust 20 boards during a set of six. Put in the 4 pound lumber and lets go. Any place any where, calling you out. Can you stand the pressure, beat you will not show.

Comment Date: 7/10/2007 Name: diamonddave
hey people get off thier back paradise lanes is the only bowling center we got and if the leach brothers and jim maxey didnt care about bowling back in 1993 when they built the center we would not even have a place to bowl so stop complaining if you dont like it leave it is the best advise i can give you i would be proud to own this center the food is great the lanes are fine every center has breakdowns i worked at the old rainbow lanes 20 years ago and i can tell you alot of people didnt act like they liked it but they all creid when it shut down so you might need to thank the leach brothers for keeping the center open to provide you a place to go have some family fun or bowl league the SHOT is also not an issue because a REAL PLAYER can adapt to any condition !!!

Comment Date: 7/9/2007 Name: ROBERT KING
OK, I give up, is it a bowling alley which stinks and is dirty or is it a very nasty bar, whats up with the game room changing to a dart throwing room. That has got to be the most stupid idea that I have seen. Also the manager needs to find a motel room, as I understand that the guy she is all over most of the time in the bar is her ex.

Comment Date: 1/29/2007 Name: Another bowling leaving the building
Well look what they have done, for a few hours they had all 30 lanes up, I say a few hours because later in the same day they had two lanes back down because of scoring. Also they think because they bought a new pad lane machine they have it going on, ha,ha,ha,, it ain,t. Not such a good try guys and way to late for the effort.

Comment Date: 12/29/2006 Name: OLIVER
Give it up guys. You have the same lanes down today that was down one month ago. Just close or sell the place so some one else can have a chance to make somethng out of it

Comment Date: 12/20/2006 Name: SUNNY
It says there are 242 comments or votes, why weren’t the others posted…..too much vulgarity????? Place is pretty bad. Cannot even take a family there any more. People are drunk, not giving a damn whats going on. This place is going down hill very fast. Nasty nasty nasty

Comment Date: 11/21/2006 Name: REED
This place will be closed down soon probably from the health dept. or fire marshal because it is not safe from either standpoint they dont care about bowling its all about the money to them they have bled the place dry now they are letting it rot (thats what smells so bad)

Comment Date: 11/3/2006 Name: OLIVER
5 lanes down, what the heck ? How much more can us bowlers stand. I am going to do like Chris the bowling girl, go to Boaz. I,m out and gone

Comment Date: 9/22/2006 Name: OLIVER
Nasty, stinks, dirty, lanes run bad, I had to move 4 times Saturday night. Some guy that worked in the back was in restroom, was telling me how good everything was, this was just after I moved for the last time when my pin setter broke down for the third time in a row.

Comment Date: 9/21/2006 Name: Chris, the bowling girl
I have been bowling there from almost the first day the place opened. It had been a nice place at one time, but now it has to be one of the worst centers that I have ever bowled in. I was there last weekend and the center night manager was drinking at the counter, they had people running all over the desk area, We had drunks drinking in the pits next to us, they had the drinks on the bowling area, etc. Bar tender had a girl friend who was drunk and behind the counter, understood that she was not a employee, so what was she doing behind the counter? They had a guy who worked there until the center in Boaz opened, He was a true hard a@@@ but that was good because there was none of what goes on now. He was butt hole to all of us kids who got out of line, tried to drink while we were underage, and the other stuff that we would try to do. I am going to clean my locker out and go to somewhere else. Maybe to the big guys center, I know it has to be under control if he is there.

Comment Date: 9/15/2006 Name: bob
i think that it would be in your best intrest to shut down cause yall have no body that knows what they r doing and the owners could give a {edited}less

Comment Date: 3/29/2006 Name: robert
well it is still one of the worse centers that i have ever been in. I have been in a lot worse centers, however they had been burnt or closed for a while. This place has no head mech. or even a good staff, Head mech. went to work out side the business and they have no one to replace. Very dirty, stinks, and would not eat out of snack bar if it was the last place on earth.
My son ust bowled there in the USBC YABA sectionals. If we could have left with out causing a problem, we would have. Machines ran like they had not had any service done to them in years, all day had ball return problems, scoring problems, could not see the upper scoring screens, and the place just stunk.

About one of the nasty bowling alleys I have ever been in, felt like taking a shower even as I was bowling. Counter help very lazy and bad, bathrooms very dirt and smelly, whole center looks very old and smells dirty, most lighting was out around center and parking lot lighting was very bad. Under stand from asking other regular bowlers that the entire roof leaks when rains and it looked that way, due to ceiling tiles that were out or stained. Lane conditions were bad, bad, bad, dry on one lane, dryer on the other lane. Very wet on other lanes.
