I’ve been a league bowler at All Star Lanes ever since Billy opened this center (formerly National Lanes). Billy came to Memphis not only known for his legendary status on the P.B.A but also with the love for the game and the people who love the game. He took pride in the condition of not only the lanes but the entire center from the ceiling to the floor. He also brought in a P.B.A. regional tournament stop for several years which gave people the chance to see and meet pro bowlers that they may have never met otherwise. I personally appreciated those tournaments and subsequently met and became friends with Pete Weber and his father (Dick) and mother (Juanita). I will treasure those times and memories forever. I also became freinds of Billy instantly and have much respect for him. He cares about the business naturally but he also cares about people and when he comes back in town it’s not unusual to see walking around the center and talking to everyone. Thanks Billy for coming to Memphis, opening All Star Lanes (best center around), caring about bowlers, And being a friend.

I believe Billy Hardwick’s All Star Lanes is the best bowling center I have ever been at. Compare to the other houses, the employees are awesome, the food is good especially the wings. The prices are great, shoot I am always there on Tues, Wed, and Thurs there Prices on those days are only $5 to get in and you bowl from 9:30 PM till Midnight… you can’t beat that price.. the lanes are never dry. the approches are perfect. Management knows what they are doing. Shoot if I remember correctly they were rated #1 for Family Entertainment and that was according to either the Memphis Flyer or Commercial Appeal possible both. If you haven’t been there before you need to go there. Leagues it self is good they have a league like everyday. So between the times of 5:30 till 9:30 they really don’t have lanes available for open play and if they do its first come first serve. But another thing I like about this place is that they have reservations available everyday. So make come and enjoy the fun, the environment, and the customer service your suppose to get with all the houses.

Billy Hardwick’s is the only place worth bowling in this city. They maintain their lanes more than any other place I have bowled at. I rarely have to deal with lane problems and they keep the place VERY clean. The employees are all pretty much real friendly and helpful with the exception of one, but their is always a manager in sight who takes care of any problems. I always get greeted with a smile and a hello when I walk through the door. They have good prices and everyone that works there seems to have good knowledge of the game and they actually seem like they want to be there. I really like that this place is owned by one of the best Pro Bowlers ever, Billy Hardwick. I met Mr. Hardwick & his wife about 2 years ago and they are just he nicest people. They take the time to meet their customers and actually talk to them and get to know them. After I met Mr. Hardwick for the 1st time, I was really surprised the next time I seen him that he remembered my name and he took the time to come talk to me & my family, he gave me some bowling tips and also gave my kids each an autograph pin. I bowl in 2 leagues a week and both are at All Star Lanes. I am a life timer here and after all of the wonderful memories Mr. Hardwick and his employees have made for me and my family I find no need to go anywhere else to bowl, anymore. I would just like to say Thank you to Mr. Hardwick and all his managers for such a GREAT JOB they do all the time.

I have to disagree with your comment about All Star Lanes losing League Bowlers to other Bowling Centers or losing League Bowlers/Customers at all. I have bowled in Leagues for many years all around the city, including at All Star and over the past 2 years I have noticed more League Bowlers moving from centers they have bowled at for along time and joining Leagues at All Star Lanes. I have been bowling on a Thursday night league here for the past 8 years and just joined their Men’s League on Wednesday night 3 years ago, I also sub on Tuesday Nights and Sunday Nights, so I see first hand how the leagues are and how they have been growing. I do also bowl at other alleys but to me most of them just are not the same as they use to be. I have pretty much made All Star my home center with the exception of 1 night a week, and that is just cause my Brother lives closer to the other center we bowl at and just doesn’t want to make the drive to All Star. I am not going to say that All Star Lanes is perfect, it can make a few changes, but who couldn’t? Ask just about any bowler in the area, they will tell you there is only 3 Bowling Establishments in the Memphis Area (including the MS bowling alleys) worth bowling at and that would be Winchester Lanes, Bartlett & Billy Hardwicks All Star Lanes. Winchester is a good alley, and that is were I use to bowl most my leagues at, but the area has just got SO bad it just isn’t worth taking the chance anymore and the security winchester has, well lets just say it is like they don’t even have security. Now I know just about any where you go in Memphis, you aren’t safe, and All Star is in Memphis but the area they are in is much safer than the winchester area. They also have a very good Security company that walks the parking lot and walks people to their cars. (Not that I need someone to walk me to my car) but it is nice to know the option is their for anyone, and that the management at Hardwicks is looking out for all of their customers. All Star also has one up on their customer service. Every experience I have had with them has been pleasant. They have a good staff working there and the GM (Don)is by far the best of any center in this area. He will make you laugh with his sarcastic sense of humor but he also knows how to treat his customers the right way. For the most part you feel more like a friend or family member there than just a $$$ sign, like most other places make you feel. Now going back to the whole League Bowling thing, I believe All Star Lanes is the only Bowling Center in this area that has someone who just works on League Bowling and with League Bowlers. Now I may be wrong about this, but I don’t know of any other center here that has someone that does this. When I or anyone has questions about Leagues, weather it is information on joining leagues or question about the league you are in, whatever it may be, it is nice to know who you need to talk to. Here is an example; I had a recent experience with another bowling center. This past fall I was trying to get some information about a league that was starting and I called this other center and the person that answered the phone knew nothing about their leagues and when I asked who I needed to talk to, her response was “I dunno”. I don’t expect everyone that works at every bowling place to know everything about everything, but they should know who I need to contact or at least take my name & number down for someone to contact me. Hardwicks has one person who just handles leagues. So my whole point here is I don’t know what this person is talking about “Losing League Bowlers to other Bowling Centers” I can only think of 2 reasons this person wrote this, 1) They got it backwards and meant to say “All Star is getting all of the League Bowlers from other centers or 2) Another Bowling Center wrote that comment because they just are upset All Star really has the best Bowling Center in the area.
Everyone is intitled to their opinion and I know not everyone that bowls is going to like Billy Hardwicks the way I or most people do, but for someone to write a comment like this, clearly has no idea what they are talking about. It is a fact, not an opinion, that All Star Lanes Leagues has grown over the years not declined. Don’t take my word for it, go see for yourself.
