To Joe S. about the snack bar food, you must have not been there between 2009 and 2011 when we ran the snack bar, we put out a great product, not expensive and many homemade items cooked my my wife Barbara. Moved out west in 2011, miss making people happy

Bowled here in the 80’s and 90’s came in a few weeks ago the place looked great they’ve done a great job. The only thing I missed was when Brian, Susan, and their son Bobby used to have the snack bar the food was amazing back then.

This bowling alley is great. Clean, friendly and prompt service. They even have a special unit for toddlers to use to help them bowl. My son had a blast. Definitely kid friendly. we came for a birthday and had a blast. They even catered all food in house. The food was great and set up professionally. I would recommend this place and we will come back.

The bartender at this bowling alley is fantastic. Unlike other places were you have to wait ten mins for a drink, this guy takes care of you on the spot. Also, the owner of the place does a great job making sure everyone is enjoying their time there. Best place to go bowling in north nj.

One of the cleanest and best priced bowling alleys in nj. The deals are fantastic and the workers maintain the place very well. If your in this area I definitely recommend going to this bowling alley.

Parkway lanes is one of the friendliest lanes around. The owner is always there with a friendly smile and tip if you need one. Parkway lanes keeps improving on a steady basis. Leagues are great, pro shop is awesome and the treatment you will receive is second to none! If you are looking for a place to bowl, this is the place for you.

I moved up to North Jersey for educational purposes and was in the market for a new league. When researching my options, I found a league at parkway that was the perfect fit for me. A little nervous going into my first week at a new bowling alley, I had no idea how people would react to a young adult woman joining a PBA experience league. To my suprise I was welcomed in with open arms by the two gentlemen who run the league and given respect by them and the rest of the members of the league. After having completed the first session I can say that I feel completely comfortable there and league night is the best night of the week. Marty has a great center and staff and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a new league to join!

I am a former bowling manager, instructor and PBA bowler who is new to NJ. I have been reading these posts to get a feel for the place before I bring my kids there to bowl. After reading too many posts I just want MARTY to know that I look forward to stopping by. Scratch bowlers should NEVER complain about lane conditions (but we do) and bowling IS all about the FAMILY(#1 family sport in the world) so for me, it seems that Marty has his priorities well established. Hope to meet the staff and Merry Christmas to all 🙂

Parkway Lanes will give you the bowling atmosphere you are looking for. Saturday night plays the songs of today and classic rock that hits all age groups. My friends and I experienced a better time time than bowler city in Hackensack nj. I would recomend this place to anyone that would like to enjoy a night out. I would like to give a shout out to manager Marty awesome job!

Our doors are always open, come in so we can discuss your concerns. If you were a League bowler at Parkway lanes you would know better. We at Parkway Lanes always know that league bowlers come first because you spend 30 to 36 Wks in our winter league and 14 Wks in our summer league. So come in lets talk about your cercerts, our doors is always open. Thank You Marty

Marty, if you are so loyal to your league bowlers, why would you schedule such an event when you have leagues coming to bowl? Why inconvenience your league bowlers? Seems there may have been better times to have these events. I will finish the year, but I am done after that.

Why would anyone bowl the King of the Hill tournament on Saturday nights? What is supposedly a tournament by the house charges an extra $5 to enter if your not a UBA member. While $5 is not alot of money, it is the principle. If this is a house tournament, there should be no such additional fees. Im just saying, there are other houses with King of the Hill tournaments that charge no such additional fees. Myself, I wont be attending any such events.

If the anonymous person is referring to the day there was a commercial being filmed at the alley you failed to mention that the lanes rented a van to shuttle customers to the other entrance. Personally Marty always goes over and beyond to accommodate his patrons. In these trying times it is truly nice to see a business establishment who takes care of the individual customer’s needs!

I have been bowling every Friday night at Parkway Lanes since Marty, Cecil, and Dave took over. I have found them to be be nothing but accomodating to the leagues and also to the regular bowlers. I was also there during the Bank of America filming. Marty had rented a van for the sole purpose of transporting the bowlers to a rear entrance where he was on hand to make sure everything went smoothly. If you did have a problem during this, you should go and see Marty personally and I am sure he can answer all of your questions and concerns. Parkway Lanes is a great place to bowl in my opinion.

Comment Date: 9/19/2012 Name: Anonymous
Bowling here since the new owners have taken over, Marty, Cecil and David. As far as the event goes last Friday night, I was there and Marty was nothing but accommodating to all bowlers the whole night. They made sure that bowlers that were parked in the rear parking lot were picked up by a van and brought to the read door with their equipment. So I find your comments untrue because when I spoke with other bowlers that bowled in the early league, no one had any negative feedback.

Comment Date: 9/19/2012 Name: Lotus Blossom
Im a regular bowler at Parkway Lanes and I admire Marty and the way he extends his facility and himself to all occasions. I was bowling the night of this special event and I saw no difference in the atmosphere or in Marty’s demeanor.
To this disgruntled bowler…..WAKE UP AND SMELL THE ROSES….it’s not all about you!!!!!

Comment Date: 9/19/2012 Name: dom capozzoli
no owner tries harder to please his bowlers more than marty, considering the circumstance of the night, marty and the staff went out of there way to make things rum as smoothly as possible. they even rented a van to transport everyone to the back, and carried thier balls and bags upon request,, try and get that from any other bowling alley,,,, if you had a problem speak to the man face to face like a man,,

Comment Date: 9/15/2012 Name: Anonymous

Took my wife and 2 young kids for an evening of bowling at Parkway Lanes. All was fine until a group of foul mouthed young “adults” were placed on the 2 lanes adjacent to us. I politley asked them to curb thier language in the vincinty of my children, they in turn told me to go @%#$ myself. I then went to the front desk to voice my concerns and they basically blew me off with a shoulder shrug. Not a family friendly place as far as I am concerned, will not be returning.

I thoroughly recommend Parkway Lanes for birthday parties! I hosted a birthday party for my boyfriend this past weekend and it could not have gone better! For starters, many kudos to Marty for getting me lanes the day after I was supposed to have the party (I had to postpone due to a freak snow storm). Marty and the entire crew at Parkway Lanes were nothing but helpful to me throughout the entire planning process and preparing the day of. The service was stellar and the pizza and beer were excellent! My entire party had a wonderful time and a big thank you goes out to everybody at Parkway Lanes for helping to make it happen!

Comment Date: 5/13/2011 Name: THE BOWLING MATH WIZ
In a previous post DOM C claims that Parkway Lanes has over 2500 league bowlers. Really? Really? Wondering what math you use to get that total. Lets look at it. If you have a full 36 lanes of 5 on a team that would be 180 bowlers. Now lets say you have a double shift of 5 on a team on a full 36 lanes, that would be 360 bowlers. Now if you have that 5 nights a week that would total 1800 bowlers. That means you would have to come up with another 700 league bowlers between daytime and weekend bowlers. Yeah that all sounds possible except the fact that we know you DONT have a double shift of 5 on a team 5 nights a week, not even close to it in reality. So please tell us what math it was that you used to come up with that total?
I bet even the koolaid drinkers cant figure that out either.

I love to bowl and i bowl to win and my new home is parkway lane’s, Why ? First of all my coach is there and Second of all the PBA experiance is there, plus as you become a better bowler you have to surround your self around pro’s who treat bowling as a sport.
The owner is friendly, my coach is the best, the oil machine is state of the art, the lane’s have room to bowl and for me to bowl better, conditions
have to be on the pro level… If you don’t know the differance then you just don’t get it….

Now that there is a “professional” Pro Shop at Parkway, the true bowlers have a complete center with service. Pro Image owners Ken and Al provide a complete full service pro shop, from all your equipment and accessories, to top level lessons. This recent addition to the center has elevated the center up another notch. To the owners, keep up the great work. The true bowler appreciates you efforts the last 4 years.

Marty. My post was in jest, seriously. Your reponse was great, sincere. But boy did it anger some cronies. People need to think before thay act; desipher the information; is it real. Would someone actually beleive I’m complaining about my 220 average? I will say you have a loyal following. As for me, I’m a leader but I will say,”Cudos to you”. Thanks.

Driving through the parking lot at parkway the other day and my ball fell out of the door… shot an 800. It it a sanctioned parking lot?

Comment Date: 2/5/2011 Name: Anonoymous.
Are you guys kidding(G Man, Dom and DS)? I’m reading these posts and I’m thinking your busting each others chops or there is some resentment here. If the later is the case, it’s unprofessional. I bowl at three centers, parkway and van houten are two of them. No two bowling centers are the same and this holds true for every sport. Marty and Eric are good people. They are business people and their job is to satisfy customers. The complaints from bowlers are common and sarcastic remarks on this site are minimal. When either (Eric/Marty) respond to a negative or sacracstic comment on this site it’s always professional. So to you koolaid followers, please grow up!! It’s obvious you will follow the leader right off the cliff. Anonymous because I hold no loyalty to either center. Grown men carrying on like this, my God!!! It would be best if both center exclaimed that neither endorses the comments of public posts. Marty and Eric, Keep up the good work!!!

Comment Date: 2/5/2011 Name: G Man
To Dom C: Dom C is not a code name. Lighten up, I’m having fun and right now it’s at your expense. I threw a big hook out there and I caught many fish. The comment was to get a laugh from Marty but OMG, here come the cronies. It is a code name for a reason; figuring someone would take it serious. I could be having a beer with you and you wouldn’t even know it’s me. I love parkway and I’ll always return. Nothing to do with the center, I just love to bowl but to the centers credit, Marty runs a good ship. Good customer service skills!! Relax!!

in responce to mr. g man…if you have noticed if you re averaging 220 at parkway lanes, you however fall into the 1% of bowlers today. this happens to be a national record from the usbc of all bowlers. but if you check most bowlers that average 220 at parkway lanes are not compaining. if you have the equipment and the ability koodos to you! but lets not make it so difficult of a shot that the average bowler cannot compete with you. thank you for bowling at parkway lanes and hope to see you there in the future. p.s. maybe you would like to discuss this further because as you know i am at the center 6 days a week…just ask for marty. thank you again.

Comment Date: 1/28/2011 Name: G-Man
Nice place, good crew however I don’t feel I’ve really earned my 220 average when I’m humbled at other centers where I have to work for a good score. I can’t believe how easy the shot is!! What satisfaction do you get with an easy shot? Bowling here is like wading through a shallow stream. Swim across the Passaic River in the middle of the winter, no life jacket. Now that’s a challenge!! I’ll take the 220 average and run with it but would never boast about it. It’s not a sport when you shoot fish in a barrel!!

In responce to ‘Here We Go Again’how do you explain how Parkway Lanes has gone from last to first in league play in less than 3 years. Also, hosted the most amiture bowling tournaments, and the most winter and summer league play. Have you noticed this past weekend Sept. 24th to the 26th we hosted the first PBA East Coast Regional that cost $5000.00 (far from having money problems). The last recorded one was 24 years ago.Our goal at Parkway Lanes is to make everyone happy even though it is impossible,so sorry ‘Here We Go Again’we know we can’t make everyone happy. Explain this ‘Here We Go Again’ Parkway Lanes is the only bowling center in Bergen county that did not lose but, went up in league play. So, why don’t you give us another chance and come back in and have a angus burger with the works on me.

I have been bowling at Parkway lanes for many years. The owners of Parkway lanes know what it takes to be successful, yes there are negative comments but lets face even the most successful places have negative comments. Parkway lanes has good food and many leagues to join whether you are a beginner or more advanced bowler. I am not an employee I’m just a bowler that bowls there and I do like the place, and the food. It is sad that there are some people that would like to see a place fail simply because they had a bad experience so what stop crying over spilled milk and go on with life. We all have more important things to worry about then a bowling alley.

Just to respond to ‘Anonymous’ on 7/26, although we were celebrating the Center’s 50th year of service to the Public, it does not mean we are not continually upgrading the center to the best of our ability. I would like to note the condition Parkway was in back in 2007 compared to now, which is a complete reversal. The lanes are new, synthetic ‘HPL9000’ by Qubica/AMF, and fully sanctioned. The ball return systems have all been overhauled to accommodate today’s league and professional bowler. The Snack Bar, known as “The Snack Shack” Managed by Barbara and Dennis Spoto is wonderful, the bar selection has doubled, Birthday Parties and other family-oriented services like ‘Kids Bowl Free’ were added and.. the list goes on. The fact remains that in 2007, Parkway was near the bottom of the Bergen County list of bowling centers and was thought to be another boarded-up Bowling Facility and now, we stand near the top. Our goal is to do our best to accommodate to you, our customers, since we could not do any of this without you. Also, we do take this page seriously for reviews, and, the comments are not all employee ones (well, this one is, clearly 🙂 ).

Parkway lanes has been around since the fifties, so its not 200 years old, there are plenty of house bowling balls available, also many 6 & 8 pound balls are there for the young kids who frequent the center, the prices are the same if not cheaper then many other bowling alleys, the food is great and the snack bar prices are very reasonable, the bartenders are very friendly and the rest of the staff are very helpful. PS I would pay admission to see you give yourself oral surgery

I was at Parkway last week and Anibal helped with our child party, and he was fantastic. Also, assisted with all our music request from parkway lanes on line digital music video. As long as I’ve know him its been a very injoyable visit to parkway lanes.

Comment Date: 4/6/2010 Name: Anonymous
I’m shocked that someone would have anything bad to say about Anibal. I’ve known him for a long time, he is a good employee and a good person. I’ve had both of my kids’ parties there and a corporate party and I’ve never had a problem with the service or the place. I am not retracting the statement below, I’m just expressing my experience that I’ve had.

I truly disagree with the comments made on 3-28-2010. I bowl at Parkway Lanes regularly and I have never met a more friendly and helpful staff.
I recently had a party at the Lanes and Anibal was friendly and helpful. The Lanes are so clean you could eat off the floor… I think the person who wrote this post has a big grudge against someone at Parkway Lanes…Grow up !!!!!

i would like to talk about the comments someone made on 3/28/10 about anibal & parkway lanes. first to set the record straight anibal was not drunk on 3/28/10 @ 11.30 am, because he was helping with the d’s team fundraiser tournament @ parkway lanes. parkway lanes is a great place to be whether you or bowling or not. they always got something going on (birthday party for kids & adults, pool tournament, bowling tournament). you will find something to do every night of the week @ parkway lanes. i love going to parkway lanes. marty you and your staff keep up the good work. if no one else show up i will (smile) love you !!!!

Comment Date: 3/28/2010 Name: shocked!
the place is a complete and total dump! the machines are about 200yrs old. The house balls look like they came from the city dump! Everything is overpriced and i asked one of the employees where the mens room was and he was actually drunk! I think his shirt said his name was anibal, and this was at 1130 am! i would rather give myself oral surgery with a black and decker sawzall then set foot in that festering craphole ever again!!!

Georges League was great before the lanes closed but it isn’t what it use to be we had fun regardless of what place we finished but now it is about money and the high teams that can’t win in other leagues cleaning up here.

The front desk was very nice. They gave us directions to another center that was open but this center was not as friendly as parkway lanes. We will go back to Parkway since they were very helpful and it looks like a good place to go have fun.

I went to Parkway Lanes this past Tuesday morning to bowl. I pulled into the parking lot to find a TV crew and their trucks unloading…..they were filming a commercial for the PBA bowling tour, sponcered by ESPN. Norm Duke and Tommy Jones were the PBA members in the commercial. What a great thing for bowling and for Parkway Lanes, since the last televised event was hosted at Paramus Lanes many years ago. You’ve come a long way Parkway Lanes in such a short time! Congrats!!!

In response to the last comment that was made, I’m wondering if you have looked at the amount of 300 and 800 scoring since the new owners have taken over. If you’re wondering whrere the oil is take my advise… between the second and third arrow on the right, down to 8 and you may be able to play there all night. I’ve been bowling there for 10 years now and the scoring has never been as high as it has been this past year. In response to your comment, I hope you’re not a lefty because they have the whole left side.

The service is always outstanding; the bar has every beer you can think of at a reasonable price. After 10 of bowling at Parkway the new owners have put in a new cooling system. This is the place to come to in the heat for good food good drinks and good times.

My friend just had her 12 birthday party at Parkway Lanes we had the time of our lives. I never new bowling could be so much fun!!! The staff were so friendly we saw music videos of the newest songs. We danced and play the Arcade games. I want my birthday party there now

Comment Date: 5/31/2008 Name: I LOVE Parkway Lanes
the new owners just opened parkway lanes last year so do not consider the outdated comments it is not a dump. they have 4 new 50″ HDTVs around the bar. also the have 2 new projectors over the cosmic lanes. the owners had to shut down the building for 2 month before it could open. they put brand new sinthetic lanes in, new ball returnes, they redid the out dated front desk and bathrooms (which are probably the cleanest bathrooms of any bowling alley.)And they have leagues year-round. the staff are wonderfull. If you are looking to do a bowling party this is the place i would recomend. I just had my birthday party there my friends had blast. the music was all the hits at a respectible volume. Music videos were play on the projectors. The food was sooooo good.

The one or two negative comments blow me away.Look the writers’ command of the language and spelling skills. I’ll bet they can’t bowl either! This house constantly strives to improve its lane conditions, features and general ambience. They have come a long way and the new owners know what they are doing. League bowling is fun again. Keep up the good work.

On Saturday, i had a night out with my family at Parkway Lanes. The service at the front desk was quick and the staff was friendly and attentive. We bowled on the cosmic side; there were black lights, disco lights, and drop down screens that showed movies and music videos. This was a great place to bowl, eat, drink, and just socialize. We were so impressed that we are planning to join a summer and winter league there! I would definately recommend Parkway Lanes in the furture.

The service is great at Parkway. The food is delicious… not your typical bowling alley food. The projection screens are really cool and the music and lights make it feel like a partY. This is the place to go for some fun.

This bowling alley is an atrocious heap of awfulness. Every last ball in that dump is frighteningly horrific. The awful lanes seem to be doused in a plethora of grease and . From 0-10, I’d say this place just simply STINKS!

Get ready for the new Parkway Lanes, those who cried about the lane conditions before just wanted it easy like many of the other houses, at Parkway you earned it, and you don’t need female bartenders

It was home away from home be it what it was it was great

Comment Date: 4/30/2007 Name: Anonymous
The place never hasn’t made money since the 1980’s and will probably open for a year or two before closing up again. Geo and Kat suplimented alot of bowlers leagues to keep the place going. Mark and Harvey didn’t and they din’t survive very long.

Comment Date: 4/19/2007 Name: Anonymous
Stay out of the middle. It’s all crunched up from parties. Stay outside and throw straight up. It’s the only way to score here.

Comment Date: 3/10/2007 Name: Anonymous
heard owners had not paid their bills. will probably reopen in a month with major overhaul with new owners. cosmic bowl, new lanes and female bartenders around the corner.

Great place to bowl and have fun! The owners are nice!

Comment Date: 3/5/2007 Name: Anonymous
These lanes are unpredictable, hooking the ball is something u should not do, unless u throw it hard with a last second hook into the pocket,
not recommened to go to this alley, Montvale Lanes is so much better, the oil is evenly placed, and u wont be getting those 7-10 splits.

Comment Date: 2/13/2007 Name: Ex bowler at parkway lanes
this bolwing alley stinks. i refuse to bowl there because its that bad. the poeple who work there never know anything, everything is always breaking down and no one seems to care about it. they are not helpful at all. everything is old. the lanes are always off too much oil and the snack bar is never open on a busy night. what a DUMP

Comment Date: 12/3/2006 Name: Anonymous
Old wood, with a lot of oil. Unpredictable outcomes. You may think you’ve thrown the perfect ball and wind up with a 7-10
8-10 etc. Or you could hit the head pin dead on and expect a split, and you’ll strike. It’s really just the luck of the cards at this place.

When I was a little kid around 5 years old. My daddy used to take me there for the weekends, he always took me there so I would not be bored in the house. He even taught me how to play on these days. He had quite a reputation among his job partners, and he even won many bowling trophies in the 1980’s.

Comment Date: 5/10/2006 Name: Anonymous
old fashioned place but a great shot

Comment Date: 3/19/2006 Name: Jim P.
Not a bad bowling center. My 13 yr old son who has a 128 league average in Oakland, loves these lanes. He’s had his 2 highest games here. Me, I think the lanes are fine. A little slow on the front desk service, but not the worst I’ve seen. Nice bar area and pretty friendly people.
You could do worse elsewhere.

Comment Date: 2/22/2006 Name: Anonymous
This place s*cks the lanes are terrible some pins are old some are new and they never react the same the screens are always going down something is always breaking.

Comment Date: 2/7/2006 Name: Bruce
I always found these lanes to be pretty consistant. It is tough to get into the parking lot, but parking is plenty once you’re in. Nice bar area and the pro shop is always open in the evening. The nice thing about this place is that the bowling is quality, but still feels like an old-time house…although I can do without the Red Sox garb hung up around the bathroom entrances.

A fun place to bowl, always a challenge to score here, it will make you a better bowler, the lefties always cry but they still score- see John Sperone, great Thursday nite bartenders.

Comment Date: 6/13/2005 Name: John Sperone
This place is a dump! I can’t wait till they close it so there will be more parking. Pro shop guy has no clue. People working there don’t care about lane conditions. If you’e on the verge of quitting bowling then bowl here and it will help you decide.

Where is this place?, I was asked when we went for a weekend open bowling trip. Well, it ain’t easy to find-tucked away on Rt 46 next to an exit on the GS Parkway – it is easy to pass by! Location aside, this center just got an automated scoring system in 2003! Thanks for steppin’ in to the eighties! Old wood lanes with an old shot, slick as snot but hitable. A challenge for the 150 bowler but fun for someone who remembers the olde Fibles & Paramus Lanes. Not so great parking but plenty of open bowling! Ask for Angelo in the Proshop when he is not bowling-not a great selection but he can get it if they make it. Decent bar-not so great snackbar. Restrooms? Checkout the big picture of the old-timers on the backwall-Oh Yea! It’s bowling like it used to be. Nothing fancy, but who said bowling needs to be fancy to be fun! 3.5 out of 5.
