Kindly remove Papps Bowling Lanes from the NJ list. It was closed at end of Aug 2014. Their website was decommissioned as well

Sadly, Papps is no longer with us. This place closed on Thurs Aug 28, after 50 years, as the property was sold and the owners needed to retire. To my knowledge it was the very last of the old-school bowling allies in NJ without any computerization. IT's a shame but Mr And Mrs Papp were very nice people and I finally was able to ketch this place open the day before it closed. They gave out old pins they'd autographed to all their customers, which is a treasure. For older wooden lanes I thought the oil pattern was pretty good. Though I, like everyone else, had been spoiled by computer scoring at all other alleys, it is good to sometimes step back and "rough it." I think of Papps as "Bowlers Campground." The last time I'd ever kept score by hand was back in 2000 down at 3J's in Wildwood. Keeping score by hand is kinda like vacationing at a campsite with a campfire, going hiking in the woods, extracting water with a hand-pump, and staying in a tent or cabin heated by a pot-bellied stove. This is a quaint little diversion from today's modern world. Add to it the ball returns are the old-fashioned kind which sends the ball rolling along the gutters and up the ramp onto a wooden rack. Gone but not forgotten. We wish you the best Mr and Mrs Papp!!!!!!

I've heard neat things about it but Very annoying!!! Doesn't open til 5pm and 2 or 3 days a week its closed?! I also think the price could be a little lower considering that there is NO computerized scoring.
