i really enjoyed bowling at the center, great atmosphere and favorable lane conditions. unfortunately i look at the center as a fake! to the new league bowlers that decide to bowl at this center becareful! the staff have no clue about themselves as well as the customers.

Comment Date: 8/19/2010 Name: Anonymous
First of all if u get a pair of lanes, they are not oiled exactly the same! If i can average 200 here i can average the same anywhere else! Spare time is one of my toughest houses out of the other 2 leagues i bowl weekly. No matter what center you go to the lanes are not exactly the same. Whoever is being a baby over lane conditions and want the oil to be exactly the same on a pair, just bowl on lanes that have no oil on it with a plastic ball otherwise youll be complaining about the oil.

Comment Date: 8/11/2010 Name: Anonymous
Ok rob. John at the pro shop is not a mean person. You yourself is a true snob, when things dont go your way on the lanes you b****! Alot! John at the pro shop is down to earth and takes care of his customers. You need a true reality check if you are up to it. You are phony!!!

Comment Date: 7/12/2010 Name: Anonymous
As was said before, you can make the place look perfect, but that only hides what it is truly lacking...A manager with a clue and a head mechanic with experience. All this place is, is a restaurant with bowling lanes.

The league secretary on friday nights is a true mean person. Id love to slap her in the face. Im tired of her disrespecting people and she needs a reality check.

John mccarron at the pro shop is very mean. So mean he should work at dick's a cheap bowling equipment place.

bristol spare time is a good bowling alley. i have been to many alleys in CT. they take care of their lanes and their bowlers. if you think this place is bad go to newington. no fresh lanes.

Don't forget the attitude if you complain....

Comment Date: 1/8/2010 Name: Same here
I couldn't agree with the last post anymore. Dry lanes - clueless staff - management s*cks.

Comment Date: 1/7/2010 Name: Anonymous
What do you expect? Its a restaurant with a bowling alley attached to it, Its like a Chuck E cheese with a bowling alley instead of a tunnel maze.

Comment Date: 1/6/2010 Name: Anonymous
I wonder if they have any plans on putting some oil on the lanes this season ? Its been so dry I thought I saw a tumble weed the other night. Don't bother complaining to the manager because she is clueless...

Comment Date: 1/28/2009 Name: Anonymous
STB looks like a nice place but since we found out Superbowl in Plantsville is $.99 per game From Sunday to Friday, guess where we go to now...

I recently bowled here for the first time in a long time and I was extremely impressed. The renovations were spectacular and I felt like the center was really interested in giving their customers a great bowling experience. The flat screen tv's were great, the snack bar is fantastic(food and price) and it was very clean. My only problems were having to pay up front for bowling and the extremely dry lane conditions. I have no idea how many games I am going to bowl, so how do I decide up front how many to tell you. Other than that, it is a great bowling experience.

Comment Date: 12/10/2008 Name: Anonymous
If you are really a staff member, based on your spelling....we can now see why the lanes are so screwed up and inconsistant. You need to hire somebody who can opersate and maintain a lane oiling machine.

Comment Date: 11/29/2008 Name: staff
how can somebody kno that there is oil 3 feet in front of the head pin. There is usualy at least 10 feet of dry maybe buying that plastic ball and useing 2 fingers might not be the way to bowl artard

Comment Date: 9/12/2008 Name: Anonymous
What do you all expect? You're in BRISTOL, for pete's sake? One of the armpits of the state of CT.

Comment Date: 5/7/2008 Name: Anonymous
Are you kidding...They need to not hire a manager and buy a new oil machine. 2 weeks in a row the track on my ball looks like the lanes were oiled with a spray bottle and a rag.Unfortunately with all the oil within 3 feet of the head pin.Meanwhile 3 lanes down the teams were complaining their lanes resembled the sahara. But what is the sense of complaining? You'll just get the same old deer in the headlights look and ignored...oh well it is what it is....

So when is this place going to get a new monthly manager?

On Friday 03/07/08 I caught the so called "manager or secretary" of the Friday night league talking to one of the players in a very condescending manner. I think her name is Donna or Debbie, my husband knows her because it's his league. The young man she was talking too is very nice and may take a little longer to play than others but that is no reason for her to talk down to him. I made a comment and she called me a b*tch. Since when is it ok for someone who is representing the bowling alley to curse at the customers?!! I have been going there for over 13 years and have never encountered anything like that. I know that this person also works in the kitchen area. I think she should be fired and if not then reprimanded. If nothing is done then it will just go to show that the bowling alley does not value their customers as they should.

Comment Date: 1/11/2008 Name: Anonymous
Let me tell you, it sure would be nice to go there and get 2 lanes oiled the same. It really is rediculous that you have one lane oiled nicely and the other oiled up to 5 inches from the head pin. Atleast bowling at Superbowl and Laurel the lanes are consistant whether it be wet or dry. Perhaps some training is needed for the lane man.

Another season has ended and it is probably our last one at Bristol. I understand change is good but this place has no clue at what they are doing. My daughter bowled in the Junior program and nobody at the end of the year knew what was going on. When does season end, when is the banquet, are we going to Lake Compounce, can we buy extra tickets. I even gave them 3 weeks with no results. Time to move on - bowl in a 33 week program and no sense of order. Sorry to go because we loved Bristol.

I have been bowling at bristol for a year now Ithink the the house has improved dramitically in the last few months. The new management is much better I cant comment about birthday parties because Ive never been to one.JOHN AT THE PRO SHOP IS AWESOME .Im no pro but i carry between a 215-220 average and with johns coaching Im still improving. As far as the conditions go i agree with dpr but i dont see the same breakdown as the righties .i would also like to add the bar food is good and the new sports bar is nice

Comment Date: 6/15/2007 Name: Bowl in Plainville
Im reaing some of the comments about birthday parties and it makes me laugh. At Laurel whenever the kids are ready we give them the lanes. But some people have to understand that they might not be the only party of the day. Sometime there is a party half hours apart and with clean up we need all the time we can get. It might seem like a rush but it isn't

Comment Date: 6/7/2007 Name: dpr
btp is an ok house not bad not great i saw the other reviews and maybe im in the wrong house granted i just came came to the area 6 months ago bowled on different nights if you cant get the ball to finish or score well here you might as well smash your ball over your head the shot is not that hard the hardest thing here the lanes have a tendency to brake down quickly so the slew of crankers who dont know how to adjust run into trouble but hey thats just my opionion

Comment Date: 5/18/2007 Name: League Bowler 2
Ever since this place got bought out, customer service has all but dissapeared. There have been 3 different managers in the last three months, and they are worse than the ones before them. Btp used to be one of the best centers in the state, but it isn't anymore. Thanks Bowl New England for ruining yet another center.

Comment Date: 5/12/2007 Name: just a viewer
Great post...the majority of league bowlers want a $4.00 game, give you $3.00, AND expect change back. Nothing but whiners.

Comment Date: 5/3/2007 Name: Anonymous
Just another whiner...Why is it league bowlers do nothing but complain. Either its the score tables or The place looks dirty, the lanes aren't oiled to their liking, snack bar food or beer is too expensive, nobody smooched my butt on my way in the door last week and the list goes on and on... What the hell eer happened to going out and relaxing and having a good time without whatever business your going to having to live up to YOUR idividual expectations ? Instead of jumping on here and whining like a baby why don't you do the grown up thing and tell somebody in charge there and see what happens. Oh I know why, because you would tae the chance of exposing yourself as a whiner anits much to easy to come to a site like this and bash them anonomously. I bowled in a league there this year, I was none to happy with the patterns they laid out but thats why they call it "Sport bowling" I had to deal with it and adjust but I will be back next year because I'm not a quitter and I enjoy a good challenge.

Well the bowling season has finally come to a end and not soon enough. The last 2 or 3 months of the season have been hell. Too many changes and the staff has gone down hill fast. I never could get an answer about anything, Our score sheets were wrong a couple of times. Lane assignments where also wrong a few times too. The personality is gone too. You can say this will be our teams last season bowling at Bristol Ten Pin too bad our team has been there for 20 years. I would like to make a comment that you did do a good job remodeling - maybe the score tables are a little to close to the approach but for being less than a year old the place looks dirty already. Well thats about it - good bye BTP

Comment Date: 3/24/2007 Name: League Bowler
Never post comments on websites but I felt I needed to. First off I like to say the new owners did a good job renovating the center, it needed it badly. Thats the good news, the bad news is you would never know the center is les then a year old. I bowl on Sunday night and the last couple of months the place has been a pig sty. Granted birthday parties are a big source of income on weekends but there seems to be no organization like their used to be. We have bowled a couple of times and the staff wasn't prepared for us coming in. It was like they didn't even know it was 6pm and we exsisted. The other weeks when they had the lanes set aside (not that often) the place was a mess. As far as the organization goes it seems like every other week the lane assignments are wrong - a couple of times we bowled the same teams two wweks in a row. All in all the center the last couple of months has seemd to go down hill very quickly. This will be my last season bowling here. Too bad I have been at the center bowling for 15 years. Just not the same.

I just have to say that this place is awesome. Expecially John in the pro shop he was very helpful he did not only hook me up with a ball but he corrected my mistakes. It is wonderful and you can see me there almost every chance I can get.

Comment Date: 3/6/2007 Name: Another POed customer
I had the same experience when I went there to for a party. We were not able to get our lanes until exactly the time the party was going to start. Wouldn't have been a problem but there where 20 lanes open at the time. We where rushed out as soon as the two hours where up. The lady at the front desk was very unprofessional and treated us like we where doing her a favor for being there. The pizza s*cked and we where charged for extra pitchers of soda. We only got soda when the pizza was served and not any when the kids where bowling. Would have brought in my own drink but told there is no outside food. The parties used to be more fun and the staff was more friendly - a bad experence that will not happen to me again there. I have had 5 parties there in the past and this one stunk. I will let the word get around too.

Comment Date: 2/24/2007 Name: Customer
I recently had a bowling birthday party at the new center and found the place was well kept but the personal attention you used to get is gone. I needed to bring something in special for my son due to his allergies and we where told no outside food. I understand they sell food there but this was an exception. Also the lanes where not available until exactly 4pm when our party started not a second before and we where rushed out right at 6pm. We spent almost $300.00 on the party and we felt like we where just a regular customer spending 25 cents on a video game. Just not the same - the personal touch is gone. All about the big buck and thats it. Won't have another party there and will tell many more people not to either.

I just found out that kids are buying drugs off of someone working there named Barry. i know that I will not permit my children into this place anymore, and advise other parents to do the same.

Hey everyone.... i just wanted to say that everyone is different and everyone has a right to say what they want...i think that the old bowling allie was great because i have had many great time there but it is 2006 and i think they did a great job at changing the way it looks....you make it how you want it to be....kids need a positive place to go to ....and this looks a lot better than how it looked before... as far as sports roc....its good for a change every now and them...but if the same people go, the vibe should stay the same...just becase its new ownership and a new look doesn't mean that the people need to change as well... if there is something you would like change to be like it was in the past...voice how you feel...if enough people do maybe you can change something and it will make how you feel a lot better...everyone should give it a try before you knock it......so come on go get your friends and have fun ....thats all that really matters ..... :-)

So who is this ha person? I can't average 175 on the modified PBA conditions that cambridge had to offer? I don't know who you are, but you shouldn't be running your mouth about anything. Wow...so I averaged 198 in Cambridge and didn't care about being on a last place team...so sue me. Tell me who you are before you criticize me.

Comment Date: 4/10/2006 Name: Jesse
Seriously...anonymously harassing someone on a message board...we're cool. You're probably some dumbass without anything better to do. Get a life. Another option rather than randomly running your mouth...if you're so great, lets bowl against each other sometime. To be honest, I don't particularly care about what I average in leagues...wow...leagues...big deal. {email address deleted}...send me an e-mail, tell me who this is...I don't have anything against anyone that I've bowled with, but I do have a problem if someone is going to randomly show disrespect towards me. To the other person that I responded to, I apologize if I sounded offensive...it wasn't meant to be harsh.

Comment Date: 4/3/2006 Name: ha
is this jesse kolezar or something of that nature. the one who couldn't average 175 on the pba patterns for the cambridge credit league? Just wondering if it is, you shouldn't be on here talking because you have no bowling skill what so ever. If it isn't you then disregard.

Comment Date: 3/25/2006 Name: Jesse
To all of you people who complain about not being able to make the ball hook, LEARN HOW TO ADJUST! I bowled in a league down there about 3 years ago and shot 800 in the 5th week. Maybe because I'm actually a skilled bowler and know how to deal with carrydown? I still go on tuesday and thursdays once in a while and usually score quite well. So rather than blaming only the conditions, look at yourselves and learn how to make adjustments. Conditions aren't always perfect...in fact, they're usually far from it. If there is no excessive backend, play straighter. Changing conditions are a part of the game regardless of what you bowl on PBA conditions or not. I am a PBA member and have done a few regionals in my time. Conditions change pretty fast...the shot doesn't stay fresh for long at all. Overall, BTP is not a bad bowling center at all and 1.69 a game isn't too much to pay by any means.

Comment Date: 12/24/2005 Name: John Phillip
This is a reply to 'someone who is concerned about the game'... Regardless of your expertise, the whole idea of bowling is to be able to find a dry area on the lane past 40' so the ball can encounter friction and create hook (look at any PBA sanctioned pattern!). The conditions I have seen at Bristol do not allow for any lane friction, with conditioner applied to the pin deck and from board 0 to 0. I don't bowl to boast about average, but for enjoyment, and after 3 years of bowling at Bristol 3X per week, it is no longer enjoyable. And when you bowl 50+ games per week, paying $3.75 per game is insane. My bowling $$ go to Waterbury and Plantsville these days, where they realize that some like to bowl a lot without having to take out a second mortgage. BNE has ruined a very nice center, but I imagine the kiddies and once-a-year bowlers don't care!

Comment Date: 12/15/2005 Name: someone who is conserned about the game
This comment is for John Phillip. What are you calling the so called (advanced level bowler)? The last time I checked the (advanced level bowler) could adjust to different lane conditions so don't blame the house for your lack of bowling skill. Sounds to me like the all too common case of people thinking they are better than they really are. I don't think it has anything to do with the center you bowl at if you are good enough you can bowl anywhere. Just let me ask you this - what is your composite average for all your leagues?

Comment Date: 11/12/2005 Name: Anonymous
Thanks BNE for making this place even more s##ky.

Comment Date: 11/7/2005 Name: justin
What happened here within the last 3 weeks? Maybe you should close the doors.

Comment Date: 11/7/2005 Name: John Phillip
Since the new owners have taken over, the 'Bowl your head off' $8 for 2 hours specials are gone... and so are the customers. Last Thursday night, the oil was applied very heavy for 60' and side to side. It was virtually impossible to find any friction on the back end. The new owners need to determine whether they want to alienate the crop of advanced level bowlers who refuse to pay $3 - $4 per game on 'oil slick' conditions!

Welcome to Bowl New England's new center. We are here to make your center the place that no one will ever come back to. Concerts are gone, fun is gone, we now have a new owner that is willing to take the fun out of Bristol. Why bowl ten pin lanes? Don't waste your time because there is nothing to do anymore. The Sports Rock cafe now should be called Lame Rock. Hey BNE stay in VT. where you live and leave us alone.
