On August 14, 2011, Illinois State Youth Leaders sold out the house because of the location. Biggest tournament all season. Little difficult moving around the house to get scores turned in. Regular bowlers here had a clear advantage; got a lot better carry than people that only come here about once a year.

Orland does not have shallow gutters and a shallow gutter system on the sides of the pin deck. So, the player is forced to throw a perfect flush 1-3 pocket hit since you cant depend on good pin carry when you swish the 1-3 pocket. Deep channels (Gutters) will cause pins to choke up in the channel to knock down the corner pins.

My kid noticed that it got hot and humid in there too. Audience didn't notice but the bowlers did.

Seems like they maintain the kick backs well on the mens side of the house since there is some big money rolling on that side of the house. $157,000 for the whole league-whole season and thats just one league for that night. Pin carry and kick backs look maintained which makes good pin carry. I also play on a mixed league on the other side of the house with bowlers who are more casual and its the same thing week after week no mater what the lane conditions are, that everybody is noticing, bad pin carry, lazy 6 pin that lays flat in the gutter. Back parking lot is all busted up, and they did not replace the pins this year. Seems like they are running the same pins from last year, can hear alot of busted pins. Also it seems to be on the damp and musty side in the alley for some reason (Humid) Over all it's not a bad place but for the money they are raking in, it should be top notch and ready to go if they PBA were to hold an event at this place. But, it's just my opinion.

My son bowled there for a couple of youth tournaments Spring 2010. To be fair, we were in a lot of equipment changes going up from 14 to 15 lbs. But my kid (about a 190 average sport shot bowler) was getting very strange leaves on 1-3 pocket hits. Had like five 7-10 splits that day for six games.

Yes, I would have to agree with that. I bowl on a league at this place to and the pin action is horrible. Same thing, solid 7 and 10 pins. I'm also on a league at Brunswick Zone in Oak Lawn and they have recently replaced the kick backs and the same guys and myself average 20-50 pins higher at Brunswick then at Orland Bowl. Just shows how each house plays diffent.

This place has bad pin carry. They installed new Anvil-Pro lanes but did not replace the kick backs. All our bowlers on our league get odd 1-3 packet hits along with continues corner pins (7-10) pins.

If this place gets any easier, they should ban it from the USBC....50 300 games in a year?
