Radioman: John Sprenkle passed away about 11 years ago now. I am his Grandson you speak of. I was always in center when I had the chance. He was a special person. He got me into the sport. I went on to join the PBA at his wishes. While I may not be a household name, I did make tons of friends and fans along the way. I even bowled a 300 Game in a PBA Event and when I did so, I dedicated it to him. It was and always will be the most special 300 I ever bowled. Because it was for Him. He use to always talk about the days of trimming the trees around town and even has the scars to show. He had a chainsaw backlash on him while 40 ft in the treeline and it caught him in the chest from his shoulder blade down to his lower stomach area. HE CLIMBED DOWN TREE, DROVE HIMSELF TO HOSPITAL, and was given 300 Stitches to close the wounds. UNreal story but it was true. He had the palm of a grissly bear, but the attitude of a clown. NOTHING BOTHERED HIM. I miss him tremendously and wish we could have bowled together in tournaments but know he is always watching from above. I love that man and miss him..

I have been coming to Lincolnway Bowling Center for over 30 years and it's only getting better!

Umm Yea Bethany your either a friend or paid to say this!! You must not go here often! How ever you are very delusional about this center and employees, yes they've added baby sitting to the roster so of course parents would like it. I how ever as well as others who has posted does not care for Lincolnway or most of the people who work there!! It's Went down hill and will continue too in my opinion its soon gonna look like SG lanes (empty)!!!

I think since the new owners have taken over, the bowling center is much more family friendly. They have so much to offer the children in the community. They have specials everyday for the young and old. They have lock-ins for the kids and the kids have a wonderful time not to mention the parents love it too! I feel the new owners have brought many new highlights to the bowling center. I don't know Heather very well but every time I have been there she was very friendly and very helpful with everyone. I love this bowling center wouldn't go anywhere else.

I would like to say that of all the years I've bowled at Lincolnway I am now disgusted with the NEW Management Heather,She has no people skills, she's complaining about her job where we the bowlers can hear as I have over heard her if you don't like what you do it's not our problem,She's rude and VERY unorganized!!!!I have also heard her be demeaning to her employees instead of taking them to the side as most professional establishments would do, not in front of league or outside bowlers!! In my opinion if Heather continues to run Lincolnway it will not be successful in the near future because as I and other League bowlers WILL NOT return to Lincoln for Bowling unless New Management is brought in!!! I would like to say I was at Lincolnway during a Birthday Party which the parents had to go behind the counter to get their own drinks because Adam was the only person scheduled that day to handle all business on his on which he did!!! The only reason I would step foot back in Lincolnway is for Adam!! He's better than what he's working for he should get a New job before Lincolnway runs down due to Heathers irresponsiblity to schedule the proper people and run a business she's knows!!! Thank You, One unhappy ex life time bowler of lincolnway!!!

My family and I have been going to Lincolnway for quite sometime now and I have to say I see a slow decline of how things are ran. As I read past comments about people who have had bad experiences I had to laugh at the post left by the management. I know a few issues that were brought to their attention and have not been fixed. I am a firm believer in if you are gonna run a place atleast pretend like you know what you are doing, maybe take some acting classes or something. It's very unprofessional to let your customers see how much you dislike your job. If anyone is that unhappy, its time to find a knew profession. The things that some people are really getting upset about is the disorganization. Why are people not getting there plaques or awards until weeks later? So dear so called "management" don't bother trying to get me to talk to you about these problems, because there are plenty of other bowling alleys in the area that will appreciate my business. Thank you

I've bowled at this house for over 8 years now. Great house, great league. Never had any problems with being overcharged or staff being rude. Would recommend!

If you want to have a good time bowling DON'T come here!!! There are better centers in the area that can offer a lot more. And they care about the customers.

This is a great place for all ages. Bright center with 28 lanes and bumpers on all of them. Great food and the prices are good. Would bring my family to the center all the time to bowl.

If there has been ANY problem with new management, staff, prices, or machines, we would appreciate you please see a manager instead posting negative comments online. Thank you.- Management

the new owners do not know anything about bowling, they only want your money. the machines are a joke, tne only thing they fix is the hole in their pockets so the money does not fall out of their pants.

Mike Elicker still bowls there. Center was sold in Oct 2010, so he really does not work there.

Comment Date: 1/23/2011 Name: - -
The employees working at the time overcharged us on our food 5 dollars and provided no receipt. They wouldn't give our money back. They were rude from the time we walked in and gave us a faulty lane. Watch your money!

Larry Markle is my best friend's uncle. He is still in York.

Comment Date: 9/10/2010 Name: Edward J. Strausbaugh
Does anyone there at Lincolnway Bowling remember Michael Elicker, who used to work there as far back as 1970-71? I used to visit him there quite often, then I moved to Bellefonte, PA/State College, PA in '73, saw him once or twice after that, and now 30+ years has gone by, and I always wonder whatever happened to him. He was sure a lot of fun; and what about Larry Markle (or was it Markel)?) Larry used to always say he was in a "g------n bad mood" (LOL, then one time when i wondered where Larry was, Mike says to him later, "Eddie wants to know where in the hell is that goddamn Larry Markle?" LOL LOL LOL LOL; then one time when my father drove me to the bowling center, Mike saw me, and jokingly locked the door!!!! If anybody has any info on him, please email me at (So sorry, no personal email addresses) Thanks much.

great center. Offers great open play discouns to league bowlers. fair prices. No BYOB, or bar though, but if you only want to bowl no other place to go. Also it is Roach free unlike some other centers in York which will remain unamed

Off the wall question here. Does anyone remember "BIG JOHN" Sprenkle. Older gentleman who bowled there in the 90's. That man could put a ball down the lane like it was a marble. He had such a hand spread he almost palmed the Ball. He was a mainstay of the center until i moved. I believe he had a grandson who was into the sport as well that moved to Florida somewhere. He was the nicest person you could meet there. He was always smiling and laughing even on his worst days. It has been going on 20 years now and i will be back in the area this summer and was curious if he was still around. Would like to see him again and hear some of his Tree Trimming stories again...

Lincolnway is another good house in York. They keep the lanes decent and they work to provide a family atmosphere. Many church groups bowl here because Lincolnway doesn't have a bar and I think it's either all, or at least part of the time, no smoking. The conditions are consistent and they have some good scores there regularly. They're the only house in York, to my knowledge, that has a Sport Shot league. This shows that they want people who are serious about their game to come and get better, not by throwing 700's all the time, but by bowling on a condition that calls for skill and consistency. They're doing a good job
