"Oh my" is what I have to say about all these terrible comments/ ratings. I mean if the Professional Bowlers would have said all this and Let Me Tell You! -If Brian Kretzer (one of the only local P.B.A. stars today) didnt want to chose this as a Pro shop location and did not come out of this house... haha This is not Capri Lanes located on S. Dixie Highway in Kettering, Ohio. MERRY CHRISTMAS AND KEEP ROLLING ON AT CAPRI LANES.

The Junior masters used to be a meaningful tournament. Now it is not much more than a high school regional. Now, can't even log into the website to see who won it this year. The outfit that took over Capri come across as a bunch of morons.

Way overpriced. and it gets pretty dark in there around 7pm. But the sunlight is still out???

Some of us called and written about the age being so low on the Jr. Masters, they decided not to raise it to conform to USBC Youth ages. Some of us are considering not going this year. Cost of travel to Dayton vs low prestige this tournament has become. A shame. These guys had a diamond and have turned it back into a lump of ordinary coal. I guess these new owners don't listen. Maybe that is why this house has only one and one half stars.

I don't get the inconsistency in the ratings here. The place became a real dive before the new ownership took over. They sunk a lot of money into the place. Wasn't just cosmetic as some claim. But bad personnel can quickly kill what should be a fun experience. They hold the Jr. Masters here every year on Mother's Day Weekend. It used to be the "de facto" national youth scratch bowling championship before Jr Gold was started. The Jr Masters is the "granddaddy" of meaningful youth tournaments. The only thing that I don't like about the Jr Masters is that they cut out the 19 year olds. USBC has youth defined bowling and Capri's owners have shortened it by one year for this tournament. 19/20 year old college freshman bowlers haven't improved that much over high school bowlers. It HAS cheapened the competition. Instead of being the "national tournament" that it was once considered to be, now the Jr. Masters has become a "high school" regional event. It used to draw competition from as many as 26 states and Canada some years; now it draws from about 6 to 9 states a year. Also the last couple of years, they have made the shot much easier, so you end up with a "high score fest"; sorta like a home run derby in baseball. This has also cheapened the prestige of this tournament. High pin totals/high averages don't necessarily mean that good bowling has taken place; it can mean that the conditions were just too easy.

I am divorced and took my sons there to use some free bowling coupons and I tell you I will not go back even if it is free.

Joe, do you work at Capri?

Comment Date: 6/4/2009 Name: JOE
All the bad reviews must be from before the remodel. Everything looked new clean and bright. The counter people were polite and helpful, the guy even gave me info on how my kids can bowl free.

How could anyone stand to bowl here every week?

Comment Date: 10/22/2008 Name: Anonymous
I used to bowl in a league at capri until the place got so ratty it became a dump. Now, it's all redone and looks nice but it's still a crappy place to bowl in. I am quitting the leage there as soon as I can find someone to replace me.

I don't think they have ever stepped foot into Capri Lanes...... I am at at Capri every week and and I know that they put new pins in every year. They have the a friendly staff, and the place is in great shape.

I took my family to Capri recently. The desk person was rude and obnoxious. The lanes were terrible and my ball kept hooking so much all I could do was knock off the seven pin. One of the lights over our lane kept flashing and nobody would do anything about it. The pins were so dead I think several of them were broken. I would never think of going there for free games ever again.

Hey I met the new owner Jerry Fertrell and I think he was ok. I agree he did spend a lot of money on this alley, what is the point I say for the **** person

Comment Date: 6/9/2008 Name: quit to bowling here

Comment Date: 2/1/2008 Name: ****
Bryan what's your point? Why not use your real name?

Comment Date: 1/24/2008 Name: WOW
Why is everyone worried about owner. I was worried about what kind of experience I would have there. I was informed that they had changed alot since 06 so instead of driving past it to bowl somewhere else, I stopped in with my kids. WOW THEY HAVE CHANGED. I never ran into the owner and I didnt care. He created a wonderful place for me and my family.

This center is awesome. They have new lanes, scoring, ball returns, seating, and new management. They have a really good deal right now it is $6 for 2 hours

After reading some of these comments, its a wonder I went to Capri, but this place is wonderful, complete renovation, couches in the bowlers area, great atmosphere. Owner put serious money into this place, going to be tough for other centers to catch up.

there was a smart aleck guy that would not help us and it is not safe for me or my kids

The Capri Lanes have always been super with the league bowlers. The renovations are wonderful. The food has always been awesome. This is truly a fun place to bring the family and enjoy an afternoon or evening of bowling. Hats off to the new management for continuing the excellent service and friendly atmosphere that we have become so familiar with. Keep up the good work!

Yeah, the bar is smoky! Sick! The lanes are old. old, old and need refinishing. The new management people are irritating.

Comment Date: 10/19/2006 Name: no longer a league bowler
Oh, Yeah, I quit this place. Managers braggin' -tootin' their own horns - and that they got the place so cheap - think they can put new paint on - good grief - there are lots of better places to go to.

Comment Date: 10/18/2006 Name: nearby plant employee
I am not happy with this bowling alley. The new personnel are not friendly to me or my kids and I know a lot of people who go here for the food and drinks. If it weren't for the GM Plant and the lounge "with all the smoke" this place would have been closed a long time ago. The "new clean up" has not come with a good attitude of the new so-called owners.

Comment Date: 10/17/2006 Name: League Bowler
Oh my! The whole center has been redone its beautiful.

Comment Date: 10/17/2006 Name: League Bowler
Oh yea, the bowling area is Non Smoking. You can only smoke in the bar! Thank God.
