I have bowled in many of the houses in NYC and LI and have never had a problem like I've had at Sheridan. The house was the secretary of the Wednesday Mens Classic league and made mistakes in standings. Because of this, a team went from 11th place to second place in one week because they went back to the third week to award points for bowling a vacant team. There has been no communication from the house or league officers on this other than the two of them blaming each other. No refunds, no one trying to make this better, and there is rumor of USBC coming down to see this nonsense. If you value trust in a league, this is definitely NOT the place you want to go. If you see a league with Fred, run away. Loud, obnoxious, profane, punk and a liar. Not one member of the league trusts him as VP and that includes his own teammates.

You "H O P E" this alley will be open for a long Learn from what they did in Vany Wyck and some other alleys. Keep one eye open all the time.

This bowling alley is in fact open and will be open for a long time they have wonderful deals and still have lots of leagues and always have information on leagues and soon it will be summer and they will have new leagues and information on them they also have kids leagues. and to the comment about their pizza it is not microwaved it is made in the over fresh. the food is excellent

I didn't know Sheridan Lanes is closing. I am not shocked as the way AMF abruptly shut down VAN WYCK LANES in 2008. Terence is right get your equipment out NOW!!!!! AMF locked up Van Wyck and people had to come claim their stuff with ID. AMF S...T...I....N....K..S... Bowl as Terence said in a Privately Owned Alley. AMF only cares about $$$$$$$$$$$$$, not you.

Finally i find a nice renovated house here to bowl at and now there closing. I feel that we should all boycott AMF lanes because they are all stockholder who just look for money. They sell a closing place equipment so there sales go up, thats dirty. Look what they did in van wyke they closed the place down with not telling any of the bowlers and supposedly not the managers. You cant trust the staff because they lie for the sake of there job.Sheridan might close next month without any warning and "we will all be screwed", remember that the next time you go in a AMF center. The Scary part is the piece of ---- manager from van wyke who "didnt know" they were closing until that day is now in garden city. Hopefully we can end the season here but, Im moving my league to an independent house before we get locked out of my day and shift. I would advise you all to do the same before its to late. Lastly When there was a for sale sign on the building last year for about a week the management there didnt notify the leagues that its for sale and just rushed to take it down, thats not right. So dont expect notification this time either! p.s take you balls out of the locker before they lock it up. im sorry to post this sad news, just looking out.

Bob C was a nasty manager and rude. Since he left AMF as a manager I am going to bowl again at this house.

Comment Date: 5/24/2010 Name: Anonymous
i'm 57 years old and been bowling for 52 years and i feel that sheridan are excellent lanes with a great layout. joe the manager is a very helpful gut when you need something asap, however i can not say the same for sheridan's pro shop owner although everyone else who works in that pro shop are great. i will never buy anything more from that pro shop owner.

All AMF food is heavily salted, if u put salt on it you are just adding more than they already put. Especially the fries man. There isn't much healthy there or in any AMF from what I see.

Comment Date: 8/6/2009 Name: Benny
The food is heavily salted and expensive. AMF has been slowly moving away from leagues and more into open bowling (non-league). They have been trying different menus and raising prices, while giving you less. Try a privately owned alley, AMF stinks.

Actually, the food there is good the person who said it taste like someone armpit must be on crack! Sheridan Lanes is amazing<3

Comment Date: 6/14/2009 Name: R Baylan
The quality of the food there was awful...ugh...never again will I eat there. Salty fries , and microwaved pizza pies? wow.. just disgusting, the pizza taste like it was rubbed on someones armpit! yuck!

I heard the same rumors about the closing Steven refers to watch out with AMF. They will pull the rug right out from under your alley!!!!!!!!!

we were sent to the pro shop at sheridan lanes by a professor because we were looking for bowling balls. we went to the pro shop at AMF garden city, but they weren't helpful and would rather watch tv, but when we came here, Jim in the pro shop gave some great advice and helped us pick our first bowling balls. he's awesome! great experience. someday when i'm a great bowler, i'll be back to jim for everything i need!

I have heard through the grapevine that AMF will possibly close this house & Garden City Lanes within the next two years. Can anyone shed some light on these rumors?

I used to bowl on a league a number of years ago at Bowlmor in NYC. Was wondering if there are any leagues forming that could use an extra bowler -- I live in Floral Park and would love to get on a league at Sheridan Lanes. Thanx !

I love Sheridan Lanes in Mineola, NY because the bowling alley is well kept clean & the lanes are in perfect condition & the staff are real good. And it costs $3.25 per game. And also at Wednesday nights after 9:00 pm, you can bowl for $2.75 per game, can't beat that! And not only the lanes are in perfect condition, they also have the pro shop right across from lane 32 (the very last end of the alley wall) so you can purchase your bowling ball & any other merchandise that you can buy at the pro shop. And I do love to bring my Brunswick Blast Zone bowling ball along with Brunswick bowling shoes with my accessories such as my bowling bag, my bowling grip for my right hand as well as my right hand bowling wrist splint because I need it just in case I get injured while bowling & the accessories are made by Brunswick. So thanks to Brunswick & AMF Sheridan Lanes for helping me to improve my bowling average & I hope that I will become a sponsor to the upcoming PBA in years to come so that I will become a professional bowler like any bowler on ESPN & I met the professionals over there & bowled with them at Babylon Lanes & I watched them do it. Just keep on praticing & you too become a pro bowler like anybody else.

This rather large house got a facelift last summer and it looks fantastic! Not over-the-top, more accommodating, and a better use of the copious free space for bowlers to lounge with their teams. The bar is well-stocked and the bartender is friendly, the lanes are well-groomed and sufficiently challenging, and the front-desk staff is professional and serious. Only drawback is that, being an AMF house, it sometimes succumbs to AMF's corporate "party house" mentality and overdoes the kitsch with juvenile league bowling promotions and excessive reliance on rock-and-bowl during non-league hours. The pluses far outweigh this small minus.

anybody around who use to bowl at the old Elmont Bowlaire

The pro shop at sheridan lanes is the best. Jim, Patti, Matt and Ryan work there. They really are the best around...go check them out, they are open 7 days a week. I get all of my bowling balls from them, and will never go anywhere else

I recently went there on a monday afternoon with my son and we had a great time. the gentleman at the front desk...i think his name was matt...he was very helpful and polite while explaining to us the different options that we had to bowl on. he helped us pick out bowling balls, he even carried them over to our lanes and helped us set up the computer. i will definetely go back again to see matt because he made our visit that much more enjoyable and my son really loved him because he showed him how to put his fingers in the ball and how to properly throw it. i usually don't say this about people but matt is a great employee and i hope he does well in the future...thanks for the great time matt

I have a lot of fun bowling there. It has been a good experiance for me. I now bowl a 285 average.

The Pro Shop is great..he really knows what he's talking about, and his help has greatly improved my average from the tips he's given me

I had my child's birthday party on a busy Saturday afternoon. Even though the snack bar was overwhelmed with customers, Melissa still made time to make a great meal for me and explained the new food items to us. She was really sweet and hot. This is definately a reason why I would go back. I loved my experience there.

I recently went to Sheridan Lanes on a Saturday night. The center was very modern and clean. Our lane server's name was Matt and he was very helpful and our food was great. Employees like Matt are the reason why your bowling alley is so well run and well kept. Thank You for the experience.

Hey there folks! We just wanted to let you know that we have finished a multi-million dollar renovation! We now offer lane-side service as well, so be sure to come in on a Saturday evening from 5:00 to 2:00 AM and ask for Diana, Matt, Susan or Rob. Have fun!

These lanes are awesome! They are always very well kept lanes rather than other lanes in the area like Herril. Their prices are very reasonable and their service is top notch. Everytime I go there I enjoy myself. I even bowled my highest game there haha 267!

I just wanted to say that a friend of mine recently had his kid's birthday party there, and it was really just top-notch....the service and staff were wonderful and the food was good, too. We'll defintely be having our next event at Sheridan Lanes! P.S - Don't forget to ask for a party host - and go on a Sunday - it's the quietest. Enjoy!

The place is OK - I would not want to bowl in their Monday night league ever again after all the missing money this past season.

I'm sure you get alot of comments about your employees and I'm not the kind to make remarks but will in this case. A young lady (didn't get her name. slim, tall, and eyeglasses) was extremely helpful. first impressions mean a lot and her positive attitude, smile and willingness to make our visit to your establishment a pleasant experience makes her a valued employee to your operation. kudos to the young lady and as a result, we'll be coming back.
